Following David Richards’ previous novels, this book transports the reader to another world full of flawed superheroes. Only, it isn’t another universe full of splendour and such-like, but an old Northern mill town in England. At least that’s where it starts…

These ‘flaws’ that the superheroes hold is duly contested as they each come to turns with their actions. They all face certain challenges along the way, as their powers are acknowledged, abused and refined. The path they must choose to follow isn’t so easily distinguishable. The emergence of a supervillain seems inevitable. The big reveal is cleverly written as the author teases and pleases throughout this development.

There is some slight continuation from David Richards’ previous novels, and this is most welcome. Equally, “Grounded” is a read that can be enjoyed on its own. What is also present is the author’s trademark dark, Northern wit and fine injection of camp.

The introduction of these quirky characters is a marvel. I am LIVING for Krystle! It seems the super powers produced an over-spill, for I even dreamt that I could fly after reading this fabulous novel. Cape or no cape – the magic is all here to be relished.

Another excellent read, this author just gets better and better. One of my favourite to date! The perfect holiday read... more detail to follow once I’ve dragged myself off my sun lounger 😂

*Edit* Post holiday, and no longer on my sun lounger, and I can still say that this is an excellent book and thoroughly entertaining read. The story of a group of northern super heroes who gather together to form a super hero support group, this book delivers comedy, suspense and everything in between. I love how Millston forms the heart of all this authors books and only wish that this place existed in real life as it would definitely be on my "to visit" list... I can't wait to hear more tales from Millston.

Wonderful! Super! Marvellous! Amazing! Fantastic! Incredible!

This book tells the story of some not-so-super heroes in the fictional Northern town of Millston, who form a support group.

We are introduced to each member of the group and learn about their powers, which range from the traditional to the bizarre.

What follows is a laugh-out-loud romp with more twists than anything I've read in recent memory.

Every character is a fully-formed, living, breathing creation and each gets their chance to shine. It's hard to pick a favourite as they're all wonderful in their own right.

The climactic finale is thrilling and memorable.

This author just keeps getting better and better. More please.
