Whew! Reading the firsthand accounts of the Titanic sinking is both fascinating and heartbreaking. I found it interesting how this book proves the unreliability of the human memory. Details of the sinking were remembered differently by different people - even though they actually witnessed the same thing.
People who don't like reading information packed books won't enjoy this. It isn't a continuous story, and it isn't meant to flow seamlessly. There are many snippets sewn together - short narratives with people's first-hand account of the Titanic. The snippets are surrounded by introductory and/ or follow-up information to complement the stories.
My only real complaint about this book is the reuse of stories. There were some stories on later chapters that had already been included earlier in different context. I found that kind of annoying.
