Magic in the world has been replaced by technology, magic viewed as destructive and dangerous. When a rebel unit begins to operate, academy student Declan is selected to go undercover as a spy to discover information to bring the rebels down. Only once a part of the Red Society, he begins to question who is really a danger to the world.

Trovic and Declan had been friends as children in an orphanage. However they have not seen each other since Declan was adopted years before. Trovic is part of the Red Society, they have become his friends and the closest things he has to a family. He's happy when he discovers his childhood love, Declan, has joined the society. I could sympathize with Declan being caught between the job he's been sent to do (for an organization he believes in) and his connection to Trovic. I did have to wonder though that he kept reporting after he had decided to support Trovic. I thought the reveal of his spying/forgiveness was a bit too quick, though I'm glad it didn't overwhelm the story. The romance I felt depended too much on their original connection from when they were kids. This is actually an issue in the story, but I still would have liked to see more work on their current relationship. Overall it was an interesting story.

I wish there had a bit more information on the background of this big war between the druids and non-druids. The story gives bits and pieces about how there was a big war and lots of destruction, but I feel like there was more to the story that might have offered more background.

Declan goes to the academy and has just been recruited for a special job. Declan is to spy on the Red Society. Declan need to get information on the top people in the Red Society, so they can be taken down. The poeple at the Academy are afraid of the druids and magic users. The Dragon Wars destroyed everyone and now they are afraid of the magic users. Trovic is a magic user and he is also a dragon shifter. Trovic and Declan used to be friend along time ago, Trovic wants to deepen that friendship but Declan is afraid to let Trovici in. Declan watches Trovic turn into a dragon and is surprised that it can be done. Can these two allow their friendship to grow into something more or is it doomed to end?

I didn't want to put my kindle down! Arkin puts Declan in a difficult position asking him to spy on a radical organization. While he didn't necessarily make friends, he had acquaintances. Trovic was an old friend from foster care with whom he shared experiences. They each secretly crushed on each other. During his assignment, Declan is forced to evaluate what he knows against what he learns. He is faced with difficult decisions, especially when his feelings for Trovic complicate his assignment. Ms Porter can not write a bad story. This was a mysterious adventure with intigue, romance and amazing characteres. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

Declan and Trovic are old friends, but that's the only thing they have in common any more. Declan is a cadet sent to spy on the Red society. this is where the old friends run into each other again. Trovic has just come in to his dragon magic, and Declan doesn't know how he feels about it. he just knows what ever happens he can't let Arkin academy find out about it. fun read, well written, would def recommend.

This was a great second chance romance. It's a very intriguing storyline for these two men who were friends but ended up on opposite sides. Their reconnection is already unexpected and with a bit of betrayal thrown in it kept me reading until the last page.

Wow I loved it, that was very vivid, I get confused I wasn't sure am reading a book or watching a movie, but I disagree with Styvant in my opinion he was wrong about dictators, we tried his theory twice, and we learned in very hard way, those assholes aren't snakes, they're Hydras cut the head and you'll reward with two brand new instead, I'm looking forward to the next book.

Declan and Trovic grew up in an orphanage and were best friends. When Declan was thirteen he was adopted. They're grown up now and are on opposite sides. Declan is brought up to believe in technology and Trovic in magic. I enjoyed the book.

Great story, best parts was when Trovic shifted for the first time and when Trovic and Declan made up after Trovic learn the truth about Declan. A sappy story, I liked it.!
