Everyone from beginners to experienced cyclists will find Bay Area Bike Rides an indispensable guide to making the most of recreational cycling in the Bay Area all year round.
I know it must be hard to compile an exhaustive list of bike rides in the Bay Area, but I was hoping for more out of a book like this. I'll never use at least a third of the routes because they're too easy or too hard, and the ones I would do, I already know because the people I ride with know them. My biggest complaint, though, is that every route has driving directions to get to it! Being a cyclist for more than recreation, as is common in the Bay Area, I'm discouraged from using some of the routes included because they're too far away by bike, or I can't figure out how to get there by bike only on a safe route. Perhaps the next edition can include some bike-friendly directions?
The best all around bike route book I have been able to find. It has mountain, road and casual rides for all levels, tons of maps and turn-by-turn directions, and is easy to read, understand and follow. It also encompasses the whole bay area - suburban and rural - so there are a wide variety of trails to choose from.
