Kōsuke Fujishima (藤島康介, born July 7, 1964) is a Japanese manga artist.
Born in Chiba, Japan, he first came to public attention as an editor of Puff magazine, his first job after completing high school. Fujishima originally intended to be a draftsman, but took the editorial role after failing to get a drafting apprenticeship. He later became assistant to manga artist Tatsuya Egawa in the production of the Making Be Free! manga, and in 1986 began his first original manga series You're Under Arrest. His second manga series Oh My Goddess!, also translated as Ah! My Goddess, is extremely popular and has made Fujishima a household name in Japan. In addition, he is also well known as the character designer for several games in the Tales RPG video game series and Sakura Wars.
He is known for his love of automobiles and motorcycles, and several of his series and their characters reflect this, such as in éX-Driver and Oh My Goddess!.
Enter: Peorth! Beware people, the fourth goddess is here! In this volume that it's quite longer than previous trade paperbacks is awesome. You have the whole first stories involving Peorth, the fourth goddess with a rank and power levels equally to Belldandy and she is decided to fulfill the heart's deep desire of Keiichi not matter how personal can be. Peorth supplies a great injection to the dynamics in the group and if you are fan of the character as me, you can't miss this book. Highly recommended.
World: Solid art once again with the covers looking more and more gorgeous. World building is interesting with the introduction of a new character and also the ideas behind it.
Story: This is the Peorth book so a lot of time is spent there and how much of a shake up she is to the core group. Fun hijinx.
Characters: Peorth is a solid character that's just different enough to be unique but not really entirely so. She's like a mashup of Urd and Bell and moments are fun with her.
This volume focuses solely on the visiting goddess, Peorth, who seems a little romance focused - even for this manga, it's a bit extreme. Demanding that she grant Keiichi's greatest desires takes a lot longer than anyone in the household anticipates. This volume is also the first time that the angels of the goddesses are even mentioned. I still love Holy Bell's hair, honestly. I was always impressed with that hair swoosh. I had, however, forgotten about the holy tickle battle.
The interjection of Peorth continues and frankly, its doesn't really help move the story as much as one would think. I mean there are other elements and storylines which really help the characters evolve and grow. Sadly, despite Peorth being the fourth Goddess and actually seeing the angels for the first time (this really gets used more later volumes), there isn't as much growth as you'd expect from the introduction of such a distinct character.
