Perry Wilson is a Canadian author based in Vancouver, BC who has big ideas and an itch to tell stories. Having spent some time on university, a career, and life in general, she returned to writing three years ago and hasn't looked back since (well, maybe a little, but only while parallel parking).

She is a member of the Vancouver Independent Writers Group, and has self-published several novels. The second book of the Charity Deacon series, Greed, is due out in the fall 2012. (A French vacation pulls Charity and her best friend into the shady world of gun smugglers and missing people.)

She also writes the Quinn Larson Quests, which follows the adventures of a wizard named Quinn who must contend with volatile fae in the heart of Vancouver, and the Madeline Journeys, a fantasy series about a high-powered lawyer who finds herself trapped in a magical world. Her previous stand-alone novels are Breaking the Bonds and Closing the Circle.

How do you learn to work with rules that you do not understand and you usually go with gut instincts? How do you prove your instincts when you have a bit of rogue reputation? These are questions that Charity faces in this book besides finding out what happened in the three cold cases she has been asked to assist with. This is my synopsis of this book.

This may be book five in this series but it is my first and it is worthwhile reading if you like mysteries. This is a story that can be read all by itself. Yes there are references to past books , but they just make you want to go back and read them. You can follow the story just fine. I say that because It applies to me also.

Not sure what the title has to do with the book. I did not read anything that helped with that.

This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.

ONE THRILLING ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Talk about a double edge sword. A rollercoaster ride of unpredictable surprises and circumstances propel all of your emotions bursting into play beautifully. One thrilling storyline and explosive plot bring this read blazing to life brilliantly. The characters are authentic, relatable and so realistic with depth and traits that blend and flow. Sparks fly as danger and suspense ensues in epic proportions as you flip page after page. Drama, action packed, heart pounding, nailbiting, hard hitting thriller that catapults all the pieces together for one wild experience. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Wilson, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

I read many books in this genre, and this one just stands out. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and could readily relate to their issues. Not having read any of the previous books in this series, I could quickly relate to the situations and the baggage the characters carried without needing any help. The murders were a little mystifying, but everything fell into place by the end of the book. The characters were realistic and demonstrated basic human nature right up to the end. The writing was easy to read and captured much of the Vancouver area without interfering with plot progress I can only say this was a most enjoyable read.

Total suspense. Charity thinks some old cases can help solve new ones. It seems only the killer believes her. Once you start, can’t stop reading.
