Fantastic book with in-depth information about English cocker spaniels. I thought this one was rather unique and had an up-to-date information about such subjects like vaccines, neutering, dog's diet that came with plenty of research-supported evidence. A chapter on grooming that covered absolutely every stage of taking care of cocker's coat was a delight and very helpful. I think everyone who wants or just got a cocker puppy will appreciate the part of the book that covers the entire first year broken into useful chunks covering diet, training, health and tips. As a cocker spaniel parent I couldn't help but admire the love and care that went into compiling this book and the story behind it. Highly recommend to anyone who has a cocker spaniel or looking for a puppy.

I wanted the book to be about Cockers

But found that this is an excellent book for any Spaniel paw parent. The author uses no discipline which may be hard for most new paw parents. Potty training is controversial but I am a believer in some structure. It is hard to go out at night with a puppy but it is easy to dedicate an inside toilet station. All dogs are sent to teach us love so which philosophy is used is ok with me.

Fantastic book! I am raising my first cocker spaniel puppy and will be referring to this manual a lot. So much useful information! It’s like a comfort blanket for me. Also it’s a big bonus that the book is written by somebody who not only used her own experience, but studied dogs professionally and supported every statement in this text with references to relevant studies, books and research papers.
