Cameron has a huge crush on the shy, quiet man who comes into his coffee shop at the end of the morning rush each day. The only things he knows about him is that he's attractive, likes lattes, and his name is Jonathan. Afraid of having nothing to talk about with him, Cameron can never seem to start a conversation, as much as he tries. He decides the upcoming weekend at UnagiCon, a local anime convention, will help him clear his mind and help him find someone to get his attention away from the unattainable Jonathan. Jonathan Nakamura has a huge crush on the cute, friendly barista who takes his coffee order each morning. Afraid that his geeky interests would scare him (or anyone for that matter) away, Jon is unable to bring himself to speak to the barista outside of ordering his usual drink. Jon, shy, gay, and lonely, hasn't had anything resembling a relationship in years and has turned to hookups to keep himself occupied but hasn't been able to get the barista off his mind. He decides his next fling will be at the convention, hoping that it will provide him the confidence to finally ask the barista out. While Cameron thinks Jonathan is way out of his league and vice versa, the two find themselves slowly being pushed together and a whirlwind weekend at a local anime convention may prove that they have far more in common than they originally thought. *** A gentle love story involving cosplay, anime and the UnagiCon convention. Two socially awkward nerds in their mid twenties find that they have a lot in common.
The attraction they feel is real and deep. Each guy worries...can it work? They find out at UnagiCon, the convention they both attend.
I know very little about anime and cosplay, but I followed along smoothly and I was drawn in by the guys and their cute nerdiness. This is lighthearted, fun, informative and sexy. ENJOY ! ======== Thanks sweet Darlene for the rec ! ======================
Another wonderful book by Max Hudson and I loved it. It was fun to read and a nice light “wanting to ask you out” but afraid of rejection. That’s what it was like for Jonathan Nakamura who had a huge crush on the barista at the coffee shop he went to daily. He wanted to ask the man out but was too shy and quiet to do so. Jonathan (Jon) didn’t even know the guys name!
What Jon didn’t know was the guy he had a crush on had one on him too. Cameron was tongue tied every time Jon showed up at the coffee shop and had an opportunity to reach out to get to know the man. He could take the man’s order and offer one of the pastries’ but he froze every time to introduce himself to the cute guy and missed his opportunity and kicked himself.
Both men thought they were out of their league with the other man. Then one day he saw Jon in the grocery store with another man that tried to hit on him and Jon acted all weird. Cameron thought it was Jon’s boyfriend and was crushed. He was depressed and his friends and co-workers couldn’t help but see the difference in him when he can to work the next day.
His friends, especially Samie, encouraged him to work on his costume for the local anime convention which was less than a week away and he had to get started making it. He had already decided he wanted to be Frostbite from the Ninja Shadow anime and he was invested in his character and relationship with the character Kurokaze.
Then one day Jon had left his phone accidently on the counter when he left the coffee shop. Cameron noticed it and picked it up and ran after Jonathan to return it. The phone buzzed in his hand and he saw the Ninja Shadow wallpaper and wondered if Jon watched the show also. Giving Jon’s phone back was the first they exchanged information that wasn’t about coffee.
I love how we get to read each of the man’s thoughts, both wanting the other and hoping they would finally met, but too shy to make the first move. Cameron as well as Jon made their individual decisions that they would have a fling at the convention, sad but true.
Unexpected at the convention Cameron as Frostbite saw the perfect Kurokaze character who had on as genuine costume and was have photos taken of him is was so into his role. Frostbite (Cameron) pushed his way through the crowd to get to Kurokaze (Jon) and once Kurokaze saw him he brightened and waved him forward.
The two played the parts perfectly together as if they had practiced it before hand, but it all came natural to them both. The photo session lasted for quite some time as they role played for photos. Each wanted to get to know the other and between Jon visiting Cameron at his friend’s artwork table and getting to have lunch together started the friendship. It felt right and perfect. They even showed up together at other events or met each other there.
The convention put on a dance they both went to in their Ninja Shadow outfits. Their shyness was only in asking for a dance not really knowing each other’s sexual preference. It turned out the way they both wanted.
They danced and then causally left the dance to Cameron’s room where they both discovered who each really was. Cameron put on the brakes when he discovered it was Jon because he thought he had a boyfriend. Turned out to be a misunderstanding and Jon’s roommate was not his boyfriend.
It was so thrilling that the two had finally gotten together and were perfect for each other. Though at the end of the convention and they had spent the night together, Jon got cold feet and left in the middle of the night and checked out early without a goodbye or a note.
There were reasons for Jonathans panic and fears and once he came over to the coffee house to apologize to Cameron, the two worked it out.
It’s a delightful story and light-hearted and would recommend the book to anyone who loves romantic stories.

This is a short sweet romantic read with angst, but A nice HEA. Cameron is a barista who is an anime fanatic and is looking forward to the convention dressed as his favorite hero. Making his own costumes he is anxious to show his stuff. Jonathan is also an anime fanatic and does his own sewing for his costumes too. Both are attracted to each other and Cameron looks forward to Jonathan"s visits to the coffee shop. Both too shy to speak to each other, Cameron thinks it's just a pipe dream and goes on with his daily life. Will the convention bring these two men together so that their lives are not so lonely? A short read and you find out. Good story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC story
Cameron is a barista in a coffee shop. For months he has fought to be the one to serve Jonathon when he comes in for his daily caffeine fix but is too shy to do more than take his order. Jonathon goes into the coffee shop near to the bank he works in every day. Every day he gives his order to the sexy barista but is too shy to do more than that. When Cam meets his favourite cosplay character who says his name is Jon, at an anime convention they get on really well and eventually fall into bed together at the end of the evening. They are stunned to find they have been lusting after each other for months but will they last past the end of the convention. This is a very good romantic story even for those like me who are not fans of the gaming genre.
The majority of this is pretty darn cute, especially me being an anime con goer and non-canon shipper. I enjoyed the cute shy geeky boys. Unfortunately the obligatory angsty but toward the end was pretty poorly done but at least a plus side of it getting wrapped up super easily is that it didn't take up enough time to sour me on the story and I still enjoyed the rest of it. Not sure how much the average person would enjoy this though.
I found this story easy to read because the characters were fun and kind of cute. I liked Cameron and Jonathan a lot. I think that they were perfect for each other. They are electric together. Their crush on each is so cute. I liked Samie too because she was a great friend to Cameron. I received this as a free ARC.
3.5- seriously adding drama in the mid 80th percent? It would have been a higher rating if they would have just talked about their fears. As it was the whole explanation felt rushed. Then throwing in an idea for some therapy seemed even more rushed. On the up note it was Super cute and I liked the characters. Low angst at least.

This is a cute, low angst story about two Animé geeks who meet day by day when Jon orders his coffee from Cameron each morning, however it isn't until they unknowingly meet both dressed up in cosplay at a convention when sparks really fly. Although the plot is a little predictable, the writing is easy and smooth and relaxing as an evening read.
