That Bona Fide Hood Love: Gage and Marley

Rate this book
Marley Street is a somber girl from a rough place. When she is thrown into a dysfunctional homemade family, it’s like nothing she could have ever dreamed of. Going from an orphan to feeling like she has a place, a home and family; she grows from an adolescent young girl trying to find her place in the world. But when her relationship changes with her best friend, she quickly realizes that some things can never go back to how they were. Growing pains and other circumstances threaten their bond. And like the old saying goes, if you love something let it go…

What happens when that theory is put to the test? Omri “Gage” Wilds is a smooth, cool, player type. His own past casts this dark shadow over his life that only few know about. Meeting and knowing Marley has been the one thing that has kept him sane over the years. At first, he can’t fight his feelings for her, and when he finally gives in, he begins to wonder if this relationship is healthy for either of them. In between, there is heartache and their journey seemingly comes to an end. Will they be able to leap the hurdles that obstruct their path to their hood fairy tale? Find out in this Standalone!

So this was an okay read for me... It moved at a fast pace... The storyline was interesting... The problems that I had while reading this book was how it jumped in time quite a few times with no separation to let you know that it is jumping forward... This had me confused a little bit Especially the first time that it happened because I thought they were saying this is what could happen if Marley was on the streets... But in actuality it was happening like she had been on the street for a while... that was just one example there are many more throughout this book... so to me it really pulled away from the storyline...
I liked Marley and I really hated seeing what she had to go through... I don't know what would have happened if it was not for Gunz... If her and Gunz would have never crossed paths... she would have never had a family with Gage, Gunz, Savage and Skyy... She grew up and went through heartbreak... I hated how she was so tough yet when it came to Gage she just let him get away with any and everything... She was just so Naive... But then again... I guess she was young so what did I expect... I just wish she would have really walked away and given someone else a chance... I think Gunz could really make her happy if she really gave him a chance...
Now as for Gage... I really like him... I just felt like he was really misunderstood... He didn't know how to deal with things... This had a lot to do with his past... But once him and Marley had a fee late night conversations, this changed things between them... Thus leaving Gunz a little jealous...The only problem I had with Gage was how he was so self destructive when it came to Marley... He just kept hurting himself because he just couldn't keep it true to Marley... Thus causing lots of conflict and heartache for both of them... Also Gage was out here doing him yet he didn't want Marley with anyone else... I'm like boy really... you need to just get it together...
I liked Gunz... I just felt like he was left in the background and never really got a chance to show who he really is... I would not have minded for him and Marley to be together... But I like to see that he is finally happy...
In the end it was nice to see that they all can find some type of happiness... Especially after what they all went through... It is even more amazing the see how they are giving back and helping this that use to be just like them...

(Goodreads 2 is the same as an Amazon 3)

Marley, a foster kid who is introduced to Gunz, who introduces her to the people who would soon become her family-Gage, Savage, Duke, and Sky. She and Gage have an immediate connection and genuine friendship blossoms. Over the years, their friendship turns to love and things change for them on her 16th birthday.

This story is heavy on the angst, character development and the message of familial bonds and light on romance and action. The author stayed on the fringe of drama giving you just enough to not lose interest, but not so much that it becomes the focus of the story. She took the route of focusing solely on the characters and their interactions. While I didn't particularly think that Gage and Marley were interesting as a couple, I did love the family dynamic on display. Granted my dislike for the couple could have been because Marley was not a likable character.

At any rate, this author is talented and delivered a quick solid read.

Friends turned lovers

This was a good read, well written and easy to get lost in. I enjoyed how the author deliberately set the characters up as more men than women. I think it represents a protective covering over the girls and eliminates the catty fights between a bunch of women. Sky looked out for Marley from day one and showed her love she needed. Savage was the man of reason in the entire story. He never left sky feeling any kind of way but loved. Gage had so many issues but loving Marley was never one. He just needed to suffer learn how to do it right. Gunz was 100 through and through. Wished there was more but all good things must come to an end when friends turned lovers after all.

Good Read

Overall it was a good book. In my opinion certain parts needed to be presented as a new chapter. The epilogue is a good example, it started out telling us that someone was pregnant, then a few paragraphs later they had the baby. The epilogue should have maybe started off saying a year later and told about the new baby. The potential pregnancy was introduced in the chapter prior. Overall I loved how the crew came together as a family. I loved at the end everyone found their happiness and began working on creating their own families.

Very nice

This standalone is lit. My girl went through some things bout life and Ohhhh boy kept pissin me off on how he kept breaking her heart. When Duke died I cried so hard for him. Sav and skyy is the shit I love how they was the momma and pops to the kids and raised them and everything. Her friend lark was not her friend and she deserved all of her karma that she had gotten. And her foster parents omg I’m glad they got dealt with and she gotten them kids away. U did good on yet another book and I look forward to reading more.

Super Dope and Amazing

I loved this book from beginning to end and it was definitely hard to put down... Marley and Gage definitely had something special and I’m glad they were able to grow together and embark on that journey to love and happiness... I loved all the characters and how they overcame where they were from and were a tight knit family that stuck it out through and through for each other regardless of who or what I loved the family dynamics... Definitely another five star read

Loved Me Some Marley

This storyline was so different and so good. Marley was someone who I definitely felt a connection with. I just wanted to be there for her. At the end of the day family is not always the people you share blood with and this story is the perfect example of that. Gage.....what can I say about Gage. I definitely understood why he did things the way he did and it was commendable. Sometimes we have to let go and take a minute to find ourselves. I enjoyed reading this story.

Awesome

Gage and Marley...couple goals!!! I loved the chemistry they had. Through the bad and good, breakups and arguments..they never lost that friendship. I thought at one point Marley and Guns were going to get together but I'm glad those 2 worked it out. Even though they lost one they fined more with Tatum, Colin, Ophelia and Rayna. The bond was real. Blood doesn't make family and it was proven. Loved this book.

Superb book awesomely written. I loved every single one of the characters. I’m glad jasper finally got what he deserved. Reading this book makes me want to pursue a degree in social work to help children in need. Overall what I learned from this book is that true love is unbreakable! No matter what the person you’re meant to be with will eventually find themselves back to you

Wow great job Stephanie

This is my first book by this author and I was not disappointed. Gunz was the one to find Marley but Gage stole her heart and never returned it. I was afraid Marley was going to end up broke but Skky wouldn't let that happen. Gunz was a great guy but he wasn't made for Marley God created Omri Gage Wilds Just for Marley Streets. Great standalone

Love

I absolutely loved the detailed views of this one particularly. It wasn’t a rush on how they ended up, it was joe they met, the conflicts the pain the separation and the coming back together I loved that Gage literally tried to move on and his heart wasnt having it. It’s always the Got dang heart that does it. Skyy was so mommy it was so cute

Wow

How I missed season 3 i don't know, but I am so glad I doubled back. You are a true other! Each character blended perfectly and everyone 's story was told. Nothing like a confused boy turning into a man whew! You addressed traumatic issues in away most people relate and that's through stuffing feelings. I loved this book! Congrats

Bonafide Indeed!

I’m so glad that this book was a standalone. It was refreshing to be able to start a story and finish it in one setting and not have any cliffhangers and so forth. The storyline was engaging and interesting. I was frustrated at times with Marley and Gage. However, they pressed on and got themselves together. overall, it was a good book.

Loved it!

Loved this book!! Loved how they became a family unit although they were not truly blood. In my opinion, I think Gunz and Marley should have been together. Gage played too many games and didn't know what he really wanted. So sad about Duke too! 😟

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I loved Gage and Marleys growth throughout the book. They saw what they wanted and worked for it. Skyy and Savage were made for each other. There should have been a spin off with Gunz and Tatum. Really enjoyed this standalone tho.

Great read

I'm glad Gage grew up and I didn't have to slap him down. Gunz had me worried for a minute with that silly stuff glad the friendship didn't change because of his childish ways. Sky was my girl I wish Marley had a chance to slap her frosted momma

Gage and Marley

This is a Beautiful story. I just wished Marley wouldn't of put her life on hold for Gage. Gage finally made it right. Is their going to be a standalone about Gunz and Tatum? I really Loved how Savage and Skyy took them in and helped them out.

Gage and Marley went through everything. They had to go through the good and bad to see what they meant to each other. I'm glad everything worked out for them.
