Published in 1953 and I wish you could see the cover, it's almost scandalous! I'm shocked how sexy it is. The plot is quite modern too, with a writing style just as sexy as the cover. I'm going to have to look up some more Ben Helm books. I had an impression of the 50s being all Leave it to Beaver like; this book is an eye opener.

I do love a good vintage detective story. I picked this one up in a second-hand bookshop in Southport, along with a handful of others. It’s a page-turner in traditional pulp fiction style that I finished in no time while in lockdown. Wish I hadn’t read the huge spoiler the publisher thoughtlessly included on the title page though!
