The stories in this anthology Chocolate Cupcakes with a Side of Murder* Apple Crumble with a Side of Murder* Chocolate Brownies with a Side of Murder* Candy Canes with a Side of Murder* Ice Cream with a Side of MurderAmateur sleuth, Sabrina Carlson, just wants to enjoy a quiet life in her coastal hometown of Treasure Cove. Instead of relaxing, Sabrina races around town with her detective husband, desperate to catch the murderer before they strike again.
If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, the Sabrina Carlson Cozy Mystery Anthology by Meredith Potts, narrated by Lili Dubuque is the best way to go. It's composed of five different, closely related cozies that will keep you entertained for a little over seven hours. If you are into solving cases, family relationships, and good, clean murder, this is the one for you. :-)
Although I do enjoy reading a book on Kindle or in print here and there, audiobooks are my #1 preference. I've listened to many auidobooks written by Meredith Potts, and each one has been a nice escape from the everyday stress that life brings. Her writing is consistent, and I like knowing I can join Sabrina and her detective hubby anytime on their hunt for whodunnit because Ms. Potts has so many books out on audio...love that!!
This is the first time I've listened to narrator Lili Dubuque. While there was nothing wrong at all with her narration, the narrators in Potts' other books have grown on me. Sometimes, I find it difficult to adjust to new narrators when they switch mid-series. Perhaps, the switch was due to this being an anthology...not sure. Either way, my engagement wasn't as high as it was in the other books, unfortunately. This is just personal preference, though! Again, there was nothing wrong with the performance or quality of the recording....the switch just caught me off-guard, and I couldn't shake it.
Overall, I give the Sabrina Carlson Cozy Mystery Anthology by Meredith Potts, narrated by Lili Dubuque a 4/5 star rating. I recommend this to cozy mystery fans, as well as all you aspiring sleuths! :-)
Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening!
Sabrina Carlson is my go to listen when I need an easy listen and an entertaining mystery. Treasure Cove is meant to be a quiet town, but over the past 30 years, Sabrina Carlson has been involved in many murder investigations. Starting with the disappearance of her sister Jessica, we have had the pleasure of "helping" Sabrina find the killers of quite a few murders, and interviewed many of the townspeople. I think this is what I find the most endearing of the series. This anthology has 5 short mysteries. We get to see Jessica, David and Sabrina's daughter(named for Sabrina's sister) enroll in the police academy. No surprise there as we have watched her grow up. We have had our aura cleansed, enjoyed coffee at Daly Buzz(missing Sabrina's grandmother), been on the hunt for numerous suspects and found several guilty parties. It's a community you find yourself invested in, and sad when one of them is the victim. Enjoy these five, along with some chocolate cupcakes and candy canes! With talk of retirement, we can only hope we haven't seen the last of David and Sabrina. Narrated by Lili Dubuque, you will enjoy the stories!
This is a series with amateur sleuth, Sabrina Carlson who lives in Treasure Cove a fictional town 3 hours south of San Francisco. The series is a clean, no sex, no bad language, cozy mystery. This book is really 5 books in one. I should have listened to them with time in between and not one right after the other as they are very similar. The narration was not to my taste but there was nothing bad about it. Lili Dubuque is a new narrator to me and her style is more to just read the story, not a bad thing just not what I am used to. Maybe I just like the style of reading more like a play. If you enjoy clean cozy mysteries then give this series a try.
Each mystery is different and a pleasure to read, the common thread being the small town and positive family life. If you've read any of the other Treasure Cove mysteries you know that David is the detective in the local understaffed police department and Sabrina helps out with interviewing murder suspects. It's been going on so long that now their daughter has moved away to attend the Police Academy! If you don't choose to read graphic death drama or explicit erotica you just might get addicted to this escape from reality. I am! I have both ebook and audio but I really enjoy the narration by Lili Dubuque the best.
This anthology features these five stories Chocolate Cupcakes with a Side of Murder, Apple Crumble with a Side of Murder, Chocolate Brownies with a Side of Murder, Candy Canes with a Side of Murder and a new story Ice Cream with a Side of Murder with our sleuth Sabrina Carlson.
Fans of Sabrina will enjoy these cozy stories as much as they enjoy the mention of tasty desserts. You might be tempted to join in with Sabrina and David as they not only devour into solving crimes but yummy sweets in the mix. These are short morsels of delicious.
Sabrina Carlson Cozy Mystery Anthology was another great read by Meredith Potts. This anthology consisted of; Chocolate Cupcakes with a Side of Murder, Apple Crumble with a Side of Murder, Chocolate Brownies with a Side of Murder, Candy Canes with a Side of Murder and Ice Cream with a Side of Murder. Sabrina is an amateur sleuth who starts to investigate murders that happen with her detective husband. This was another great read by Meredith Potts and I can't wait to read more by the author.
My twenty-third read/listen from author Meredith Potts featuring amateur sleuth, Sabrina Carlson. A collection of 5 well-written & enjoyable cozy mysteries. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Stephanie Quinn. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I have read every one of these stories and they are well-written stories with no swearing, gore, or sex. Just good clean murder mysteries in a small town of Treasure Cove. Sabrina and her detective husband go around solving them together as a team. I read these stories when they came out as single books.
This mystery series takes place in a fictional town by Sabrina Carlson. I love her booksand even your teenagers could read these bookd. This is a 5 in one set and the characters are believable abd the characters draw you in. I love the desswets as well as the mystery, with her way of solving with th clues she hears. The narration is good snd keep your interest . I enjoyed these books.
Five clean murder mysteries with no foul language or sex. As with Ms. Potts other stories, there is always a sweet treat imbeded in the tale. The five murders were 2 for love, 1 for revenge, 1 for self defense, and 1 because of a bad divorce (no love there). I was gifted this from the author.
This is possibly the most amateurish book I have ever read. Why do the characters always have their age? One woman even lost two years between opening the door and letting people in! Not an author I would read again.
This book was very poorly written -- lots of repeating of words, phrases, plot descriptions. Plus the grammar was not very good. I wonder if anyone proofread any of it. I barely got through the first story; I couldn't read any more. Sorry, but very unprofessional.
Five more murder mysteries in the Treasure Cove series and you will not be disappointed with what happens. Sabrina and her Husband are definitely getting up in years now and the murders are getting to them even more. Hopefully they finally get to take a break from all the chaos.
An amazing collection of stories, guaranteed to make you want dessert. Full of lighthearted mysteries as well to keep you trying to guess who committed the crimes. Will Sabrina solve the cases. Loved it.
I enjoyed reading these cozy mysteries. The characters were colorful and the stories were interesting. I will definitely read more of Meredith Potts' books.
Cheating spouses, Christmas disasters and family strife. Motives galore and a determined police detective and his sleuthy wife solve a whole set of mysteries in the great collection of murder mysteries. Five good stories at a great price.
More a 3.5, the audio version of this book set (of 5) was entertaining--but a bit simple. I really liked that the mysteries were "clean," and second the recommendation to listen to one a day to keep them separate. LOVED being able to do my usual audiobook thing. (Received a free advance copy for my honest opinion.)
This collection of cozy mysteries consists of five books featuring Sabrina Carlson and her husband David. David is a police detective in Treasure Cove and Sabrina helps him solve murders. Their daughter goes off to the police academy so they're also dealing with an empty nest. All of these stories are clean cozies so they're appropriate for young readers. Also, Sabrina & David share a strong faith and frequently pray together which I appreciate.
While the narrator did a good job and was easy to understand, I didn't connect with her. But that didn't distract me from enjoying the books and I look forward to reading/listening to more.
Thank you Meredith Potts for this audio book in exchange for my review
Perfect for relaxing and unwinding, five excellent, well written and engaging mysteries. The characters are all well developed as is the setting. They would make great beach or garden listening. The narration enhances the enjoyment bringing the characters nicely to life.
This is a collection of short mysteries featuring Sabrina Carlson, who owns a coffee shop in Treasure Cove, California. She has a good manager for the shop, which is good, because these days she spends a lot of her time helping her husband, police detective David Carlson, investigate murders in the town of Treasure Cove. And it really runs in the family; their daughter, Jessica, has gone off to the police academy in San Francisco, determined to be a police detective herself.
I like Sabrina and David, as well as Jessica, Sabrina's parents, and her employees and friends. These are likable people, intelligent, and mostly practical. Sabrina doesn't go off and do dangerous things because No One Will Listen; this is no doubt helped by the fact that David does listen when she's found or noticed a fact that looks relevant. They also both have the ability to be wrong, without being wrong so often that you wonder how they can be successful at this.
Another nice feature, if you're looking for light entertainment and fun, is the open and unabashed enjoyment of coffee, brownies, chocolate...sweets. Aside from the coffee, they're really into sweets. Sabrina's coffee shop, The Daily Buzz, is of course the main source of coffee (including, shamelessly, eggnog lattes as the Christmas season approaches), but there's also a local bakery, a sandwich shop, and other food-oriented sources of joy in Treasure Cove.
They're not serious or challenging mysteries; they are a lot of fun. Recommended for light reading, or listening.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, and am reviewing it voluntarily.
This is a collection of cozy mysteries. Sabrina works with her detective husband to help solve crimes. The stories are clean, no sex, bad language or things to bother listeners. My only thought would be to listen to one book a day instead of all at once, since they are all similar.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Lili Dubuque's voice is pleasant but I would like a bit more emotion in the reading.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I found these to be a fun Cozy mystery set.Set in a seaside town,Sabrina serves sweets and chases down bad guys. Lili Dubuque was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'
