With clear and concise writing, Isaac shares mindset and frameworks on how to launch your career and rock at it.
I guarantee that this book provides more value in 30 minutes than getting a degree in five years on how to crash your career.

How will this book help me in my journey?
This was the book I wanted to read and needed to read at this exact moment in my life. I got it at the perfect moment because it mostly talks about one of the things I'm going in my life right now. School, college, diploma... Crash your career is a book written by Issac Morehouse who is the CEO of a career launch program called Crash. In these sixty-six page book, I was able to understand, learn and generate ideas for my future. I learned the value of selling myself without having a paper that certifies how smart I a and what I'm capable of doing.
Many people have the mentality that you need to have a diploma when graduating from school. If not you won't get into a good college and no one is going to give you a job. (Total bull****). This book will serve as a reminder of:
* The reason why certificates got started and why people wanted them.
* Lower the cost with free work
*Sell me in a different way from others
*How to identify and build skills
*How to signal skills (show and not tell)
*Ways to create an outstanding personal portfolio
Be my own credential
*Know that I can do anything if I work for it and invest into it

I read this book in Literally two hours and not only because it was short; but because I actually got interested in it. I got so much out of it and also because its a process in which im questioning right now in my life. The messages from the author were absolutely relatable and real that I just wanted to keep reading. Not only that but the ideas he gives you on how to build skills made me want to start doing them right away. Overall I felt like the thing that impacted me most from this book were the lessons and writing style.

Crash Your Career Book Review
I thought this book was very interesting, it is probably the only self-help book that I've read and enjoyed. There were so many tips that I found useful and I realized that college is not the only option to be successful. There are some many other ways of making a career without having a degree. I thought that the most important tip that they gave throughout the book was that you should not only find what your skills are and make proof of your abilities. Show them to the world and to the people who you might have opportunities with what you can do and what you can offer them. Proving your abilities is something critical, with a degree or not, for people to hire you, you need to show them what you can do for them.
Something that I did disagree with the book about was the fact that if you are different college isn't the place for you. For example, I want to become a doctor, I know my process of learning is different but in my situation college is most definitely an option since it is the only way to become a surgeon. You can’t become a surgeon looking at a youtube video, you need to study and learn from experts. College is an option always and not going to college is also an option you just have to see what works for you. Everyone is different and just because you learn in a different way doesn't mean college isn't an option for you.
By being in Acton I am taking charge of my education and what works for me. The book mentioned many times that we are all different and that different things work for different people so I have taken my education to a different level by being in Acton. Just by being in Acton I would say that I am doing a lot of what the book suggests because in Acton you have to prove to the world that they should hire you or that you are worth it, since we don't get a diploma we have to build our proof or our abilities.
Something I want to apply in my life from the book is I would like to start to build my career. Since I want to become a surgeon, or so I think, I want to take this time to explore. Maybe being a doctor isn't the path for me. I also want to make proof of my abilities and what I am capable of doing. These two years I have in launchpad I want to invest them in finding what works for me and what I have to do to prove myself.
“You see, some people find their place in the world and some of us need to make our place in the world and some of us need to make our place in the world.” (Morehouse 13). This was my favorite quote, and it was in my favorite chapter, which was the first one. In this part of the book I realized that I need to create my own path, I’ve learned that I learn in a different way and if I want to be a surgeon I need to find a way of learning in the traditional way but adapting it to the way I learn. After I graduate I want to keep on making my place in the world, as the book said, and always prove that I am the best or that my abilities do add value. No matter what I decide to do in my future it is always more than important for me to keep on proving that I belong where I am and that I should be where I end up at. I want to take many opportunities and make my least interesting experience interesting. I want to make the world see how and why they should hire me or why I do matter and that I am needed where I am.

Crash Your Career Book Review

I really liked this book, it is concise and efficiently gets its ideas across compellingly. At the start, the author, Isaac Morehouse, tells a little about his story. Helping understand that it is possible to be successful even when you don't have a high school diploma. This then develops into the main point he tries to make throughout the book, you don't need to go down the traditional route to get started on your career. The traditional route is, graduating high school, then college, getting an entry-level job, and climbing the ranks of a company. To prove this, the author uses examples, statistics, and personal stories that show that there are alternatives that often happen to be better than the traditional route.
This book has helped me in gathering information as to what I would like to do once I graduate. Though sadly, I can’t say I was able to determine which way I want to go, I was able to better understand the different paths I can take in my life. For example, on page 26, when Morehouse concludes the story of how college degrees became less useful in the job scheme, it helped me better understand why so many people have trouble getting a job nowadays. I had seen many comments on the internet of people complaining about having a degree and still not getting hired for any entry-level jobs. With this information, I now know that college might not be the best next step for me. Unless I need a degree for what I want to do, like medicine and law, there are other ways to start my career that don't involve spending so much time and money.
What impacted me the most from this book were the ideas it presented. I cannot tell you how much I have been struggling with building credentials. And this book solved almost all my doubts in that regard. I used to think that just working for free wasn’t that good a proposition to get started in a field but it is. And even if it wasn’t, you just need to find a way to learn more and prove what you have learned. The example Isaac gives is as follows: You have two candidates for a job in marketing. One has on his resume shows he had a 3.4 GPA and a BA in Marketing from the state university. The other has none of this but she subscribed to the newsletters of different marketing companies and, for 30 days, she wrote what she liked and didn’t like about them on her blog. Then she presented her key takeaways in a 1-minute video. (Pages 28-30) The second one has more “real-world” experience than the first one. This gives her an edge. Then, when you take into account that she offered to work for free for a small period, she is the most likely to get the job.
This book is great but it feels like many people lose out on it because its target audience is extremely unlikely to look for and read it. As a fellow 17-year-old, I recommend this book to all the juniors and seniors that are starting to think about what they are interested in doing after high school. I would even go as far as to say this should be on the list of books required to be read before graduating high school. The book is really short and it has helpful content, what I mentioned in this review is only the tip of the iceberg, all the more reason to read it.

Crash Your Career is a very short book that gives you the empowerment to do great things in the future. At first, when I started reading this book I had it very underestimated because of its small size, but after reading a few pages in, I knew that this book was going to be a small push for the future of my dreams.
Throughout the years' humans have proved to be capable of big things. From thousands of years ago humans have come a long way. From barely having sufficient food to eat during the winter, to having a whole supermarket ready with all of our favorite foods. Even 50 years ago technology did not exist as we know it today. Cars and airplanes were a luxury for the rich, phones were not a very common element in houses, and TVs were very much different than how they are today. Currently, now in 2022, I can assure you that phones are an essential thing in our life, and that is one of the many examples of how we have developed through the years.
This book kind of breaks the status quo that society has. It shows you the other side of the coin. It opens your eyes to take into account that college is not the only option after school, and that going to college and having a degree will not guarantee you more success.
At the end of the day, the future is in your hands, and that is the message that this book gives you. My biggest takeaway was to simply be noticed. I have to make myself more noticeable in every good activity I do. I have to prove to the world that I am capable of doing anything I set my mind to.
I think that the fact that I am in Acton Academy is what allowed me to comprehend this book and the why behind everything. Here at Acton Academy, we are the ones in charge of our own education, and it gives you a lot of responsibility. This book talks about a very similar thing and how you have to be responsible for your future, and by this, make yourself the person you want to be.
Every big goal has small steps in between, and what this book encourages is to go step by step, but with the final goal always in mind. It encourages you to build your ideal career, and this can involve anything really. Your career can include going to college, or it can not. Your career can be a high-paying job, or it can not. Everyone’s career is different and you need to emphasize your life according to what you want. Forget that the world exists and think about what you want for your future.
I would give this book 3 stars only because I am not a big fan of “self-help” books, but I do 100% recommend it. It is a small read that can really guide you in your path.

This book was a great learning experience, it opened my mind to a new perspective and it made me realize about millions of opportunities. This book was precisely what I needed for the stage I am at in my life, it helped me realize that college is not the only option, but also discern to what applies to me. This book was an eye-opener, I agree that actually doing the work and effectively documenting it can take you really far (even further than people who actually have a diploma). I agree that being bold and creating your own career is something that can help you live a meaningful life, a more conscientious life were your actions become more intentional.
In general, I thought the concept itself sounded fantastic but I don't agree that having a drive and knowing how to document is the only thing that you need to succeed. After having a short dialogue with my friends we came to the conclusion that he was very biased and full of fallacies. I would have liked if he had talked more about the actual struggle it is starting out without a diploma, especially in more conservative countries like Guatemala. I also would have liked if he had talked more about the struggle it is dealing with uncertainty since it is something that can drag you down.
The first part I found it extremely valuable since it allowed me to see a new way of creating your career, it was also based on concrete examples which were very helpful. This book inspired me to take control of my life, and question the current path that supposedly leads to “success”. Another impact this book had on my life, was that doing a deep inner reflection on my assets and weaknesses to discover them and be intentional with how I use them. The second part, on the other hand, was to a certain extent in my opinion unnecessary since it was purely testimonies. The testimonies were good, but they all had, in general, the same opinion about the method and didn’t extend on how they got there and the struggles they faced.
This book helped me set a lot of next steps and realize that I urgently need to prioritize creating my portfolio. This book only reassured me the importance of documenting, and documenting all my work is a process I have already started. My next big step is creating a professional portfolio, update my blog and actually make it a priority and be a lot more intentional with my next moves.
This book inspired me to create a professional way of presenting myself worthy without a diploma. College is the route I am direct towards, but still, I want to be more than my diploma.
This was a great book precisely because it helped me realize that if I mix the diploma with creating my own career I can have the best of both worlds. Right now I am in the hard but fun journey of discovering who I am and that is why I would like to try different things that turn me into a richer person. I want to discover what I like and what I don’t, I want to take life as a game and enjoy every second of it.

March 31, 2023I would give it a 4.9 out of 5 stars because I think in general it is a very good book but I don't think it was for me maybe in a few years I will read it then and I will like it more because I will understand better but wait no I don't like the book. I don't think there's a question down to this book because I think the user put a lot of details and I think he explained himself very well I think that I would not ask me anything major questions raised by the book, there are no characters in crash your career and no plots as well. Don't think that there was a moral problem but the problem was how to launch your career without waiting on gatekeepers and standing in line or how to build that skill and improve your carer. I think that is book will react to my hero's journey because if I want to launch a career it will show me how to launch it today in the modern world and how to make it betterer and I think it shows all the struggles that a person passes from when you're trying to launch and it shows that a person poses when they're trying to launch your career and it showed me how to launch a carer without waiting for someone like a gatekeeper and standing line to get some one's person or to see if someone likes your idea and it shows you how to build skills and improve your career and launched a business. I think this book change me because But now I learn how important careers are now to launch a new business or how to launch a career I think that's important in well my hero's journey and I think it's really important in my life as well I think that this book really changed me even though I didn't like it as much as I was hoping I think it really did change me as a person and I think that's really cool at the same time I think there were some things that I didn't really understand so I would have read in a couple more years when I'm older and I understand better Think that it really did change my life I think like I said before I really understand more about careers and like watching a business and I think that is really like good to learn in Like Your Heroes Journey so if you like when you're older you want to start a business or you want to launch a career I think that this book would really help you in some ways and I think that it would really like change your life even though like I said if I didn't really like it I think it mostly because I didn't understand most Parts I think because I'm too young and this book was recommended for lunchpad but not for agoras I think that that was one of the reasons that I didn't understand. I don't know.

I would personally give this book a 4 out of 5 stars the particular reason behind this statement is the fact that this book does take a different approach to what a successful career is and I was expecting an extremely boring book but is was actually quite entertaining because of the approach it took because I actually found it quite entertaining to read because of all of the reasons I listed i would most definitely give this book a 4 out of 5. I would not give it a full 5 stars because it is not the kind of book I enjoy reading since I like reading fantasy books but other than that I found it quite entertaining.
This is a book all about your career and I personally found that they took a different approach than what I thought it was going to be which made the book interesting. This book shares things about successful people in the world and their careers and it also tells you tips on how to not crash your career. One of the tips it tells you is that if you want it you have to work for it which I think is really good advice that once in a while you have to hear to be able to know that things won't just fall right into your hands.
I think this book relates to my Hero's Journey because they give you tips that apply for everyone's careers which is why I think that it relates to the Hero's Journey. As I have mentioned in a previous review of mine, I am not a fan of self-help or coaching books at all, they always seem kinda phony-ish in nature to me, so after a family friend recommended this book to me, and seeing its super short length, I was expecting at worst some sort of bullshit pamphlet that failed to make any point at all, but I am glad to say that my expectations were neatly subverted. In fact, dare I say, this book was actually pretty helpful! Who'da thunk?
The book is a very short, one-day read which still contains foreword and afterword sections. It consists of the authors’ thoughts on the current nature of higher education, and how someone can lead a happy and successful life even if they do not spend tons of money and time on getting a degree, possibly even moreso.
Morehouse provides this message in a simple, but still comprehensive way. Using virtually zero fluff or flowery language, he delivers the message he seeks to deliver in as few words as possible, which I believe is the main objective of the book, and I say that is probably one of the reasons I found much, much more tolerable than other self-help books I have read. It had a lot of good advice in there, and what I found the most useful was in regard to applying for a job, as some of the advice regarding not going to university or even starting your own business is simply not for me. I still want to go to university and I am 100% not an entrepreneurial type, but either way, it still opened a new perspective on university to me and I can still implement the book’s advice in my day to day life.
However, like I mentioned before, the book did include a lot of useful advice for when you try to apply for a job, which I will surely use in the future if I find a position I am genuinely passionate for. My biggest takeaway from this section was learning that, when applying for a position, you should take absolutely any opportunity you’re offered in the company, and then prove to the company not what you can do, but instead, how much you can be of worth to them.
The foreword and afterword I mentioned were also nice stories to read, and although obviously what the book says won’t work on anyone, they do end up providing it with a bit more credibility.
Overall, pretty great read. Nothing absolutely earthshattering for me, but it was worth the short time I spent reading. Recommended to anyone that’s going out of high school, ⅘ stars.

Crash your career is a book written by Isaac Moorehouse a successful entrepreneur, and founder of Praxis.
The book is clearly a representation of Isaac Moorehouse's point of view and perspective. This is made clear from the beginning as it starts with the author telling us his story, and the struggles, he had like being kicked out of high school. This way of starting the book shows to the reader that what is narrated in the book is influenced by Moorehouse’s experiences, which are basically being successful without following the traditional route, even without a high school diploma, that is what the book wants to portray. You don’t need to follow the route of high school, college, and work, to be successful in life. He also proves this by using statistics, and examples.
Is a pretty simple book it has less than 100 pages, and you can read it in a day as I did. Still no matter the book's length it has a good message to prove, and many people might need to hear and try to good convinced by Moorehouse’s point, which he achieves to make precise and efficient.
In my case, I’ve never been excellent in school because I have always known that a grade doesn’t define my future, but what I’ve always pursued is learning, I believe that people should never stop learning a person that doesn’t learn is basically useless. Another thing I’ve never believed in is is following “The traditional way” or the “rules”, I know for a fact that people who are used to follow rules without wondering them, will never get too far.
I actually believed in following an untraditional path before reading this book, coming from a home where my mom believes more in Passion and Hard Work, and my dad believes more in traditional education. I’ve always been in the middle and believed in both, for me no path is better than another, but what will create the difference is the reason you picked one or the other. As an example, I want to go to college and I know, I could learn the same things I’ll learn in college in another place. But my reason to go to college is not learning, is creating contacts and growing my business while I study in college.
Well answering the required questions from the card, the most shocking thing was his story probably, my favorite quote is “Legendary people create a new path”. And even though I wouldn’t describe it as a life-changing book, it is definitely worth a look, and I would recommend it to everyone who needs a short but deep piece.

How will this book help me in my journey?
This entire book spoke to me, with so much accuracy. I guess what helped me the most out of it was probably seeing how much the outside world of work has changed. How much more important creating value is, rather than having a degree.
People have actually stopped relying on degrees as the only source of validation, they care more about what you can actually do and show you can do.
This book has helped me understand how to present myself and my skills and to always show how I can create value to their company/work.

The first thing is probably that people have actually stopped relying on degrees as the only source of validation. And it makes so much sense, and it impacts and excites me to see that the world is changing and using more common sense.
Something else was to see how simple it actually is. I do, I show, and I do again. Of course, at first it is hard, to gain experience, to create something from zero, but little by little you can do more. It is so simple to show that you can do these, but how? By showing how much value you can add to something. How much you can improve something.
This is probably what impacted me the most and something I will most definitely be applying in internships, apprenticeships, and jobs even.

How will this book help me in my journey? Crash your Career is a business or entrepreneurship book. It talks about literally crashing the normal career path and instead going down a “different” one. I helps to get started in your career, whichever it is, through a more efficient way.
What impacted me the most from this book? (theme, chapter, writing style, character, topics) What impacted me the most are the things I want to apply in my life and all that I learned. First and most importantly, I agree that what companies care about and that which is important for your career is “your ability to create value and your ability to demonstrate it." Everything else that is considered important is because it contains these two as well. There are many ways to be good at these two, and therefore a degree or credential is not the only way to attain them, nor the most efficient. Not in all cases nevertheless, because there are some careers that require a degree. Just by being at Acton I am throwing away the degree. I am learning to create value in real-world situations and demonstrating it in creative ways like projects or blogs. I am learning to contact companies and other people to do apprenticeships. We basically already raise the value with comparative advantage and lower the cost with free work. Before leaving LP: I ‘d like to contact more businesses for more apprenticeships and expand my profile. I ́d like to practice more the ̈show, don't ́tell and be able to make my skills and values tangible. After graduating: I ́d like to have my skills and values concretized and to attend a culinary school to further build my profile.

Book Review
Personally I don’t like self-help or coaching methods but still, there are some good things that we can extract. I think that the only two good things that we can get from coaching and self-help books or courses are the simplification as an introduction to a more complex, complete and better way of thinking and reflection about one's life. The second good thing is the propagation of “new” and (in the short term) helpful and reflective ideas. For example, in Crash Your Career we get a very biased introduction to the idea of new ways for us to educate ourselves and guide our lives.
The only reason why I would recommend this book is that you can read it in 1 hour. It is easy to read and if you expand your ideas you could have a good Socratic dialogue about the book. You should also read this book because it has some interesting ideas about education.
There was no profoundness for me to have a favorite quote. Self-help or coaching is not meant to be complicated or profound because if not it would not be coaching or self-help, it would be philosophy.
If I had to take away something from this book is that we should change the system in which we are being educated in 2019. The world is changing and education is not, we have to adapt and learn how to live a happier life thru reason and profound reflexion. We need to wake up and stop what we are doing, and think for a moment where are we going to end up if we continue to educate children in the traditional way.

I give this book 3/3, the reason why is because personally I think the message the book is transmitting seems really nice but is it really like that in real life? I think that the book is really well written and all he says makes sense, but my question here is, is it true?
The book explains to you the reason why it is better to not go to college. He says that first of all college is expensive and with the tools we have today we can get all that knowledge in the internet. Then he explains why having experiences and exploring new things can lead you to more things. He gives you this detailed explanation of why its better to avoid college, personally, everything he says makes sense, and it seems really nice, but I don’t think it is true. He gives numbers and examples, but still, I don’t think it’s true.
The reason why I think all this is not true at all is that you have to have a certain character and history to be able to learn everything from the internet and take advantage of the opportunities. All the things he says sound really nice, but it just doesn’t seem realistic to me. I feel that this book is good because it is encouraging you to experience new things, to open yourself and expose yourself to the world, but I just don’t feel he is being realistic.

Morehouse is a master at efficiently leading readers (or listeners) to highly relevant messages. And the message of Crash Your Career doesn’t suck. In fact, the message of this sweet little pocketbook is probably the most important message a young person trying to create themselves (or, like me, a middle-aged person having to re-create themselves) could receive. I recommend this book not only to fresh high school graduates, but also to fresh junior high graduates. Crash your career is a book about the importance to be willing to change, and be able to accept new opportunities and adapt to changes as quickly as you can, it also helps you and gives you some advice in how to build and maintain relationships that can open doors for you in the future and it shows you the necessity to learn new skills and new things that can help you in the job market. Also how taking risks can help you to be a better person and get rewards as well. This book also tells you to be an optimist even if you fail because failing will give you very good learnings, it makes you a better person and it can even help you find more opportunities and challenges.
This book has helped me in my Hero’s Journey because it has showed me that failure might be hard at the moment but it also helps you be better and be able to have more knowledge on what to do or what not to do in the topic I failed in and it can also help me get more opportunities and more challenges that can make my future better.
It also helps me to have a growth mindset and it did change my point of view in hard challenges because I thought that challenges would probably help me in anything and I thought challenges just made my life harder when they actually help me be a better person and become better at any work or emotional challenge.
It also showed me how taking risks is more important than why I originally thought because I thought not taking the risk was safer and promised me more success but I’ve learned that it really doesn't because not even trying is a lot worse than trying and failing and if I try and I succeed I am winning way more that not even trying.
