They say that love conquers all. And I’m about to test that theory to the limit!
My name is Hayley Monroe, and I am an FBI agent—tasked with bringing down one of the most infamous human trafficking organizations in the world.
A year of intensive training, inextricably bonds me to my handler—Ryan. But we both know that one day soon, he will have to give me up to a demonic trafficker.
Being sold as a sex slave is the only way that I can infiltrate the demons' dark world, and I'm okay with that. I’ve always known exactly what I’m letting myself in for.
But I didn’t bet on the oldest and darkest demon of all, buying me for the unheard-of sum of one million dollars.
Now I’m trapped in a world of lust, darkness and brutal conditioning. Trained to adore a monster who has hundreds of years’ experience in breaking down women’s defenses.
Ryan should be the only one who can bring me back from the brink of losing myself. But as the days pass by, and the lines begin to blur; I’m beginning to forget who Hayley Monroe ever was!
She Falls was recommended on a facebook group for jealous and possessive heroes so I thought I would give it a try. For readers who love that j/p hero, it is pretty mild on these characteristics. This was more of an ownership/slave relationship than a jealous/possessive love.
This is also labeled as a dark read and I would rate this a mild dark story. For me, that's great. I prefer there not be excessive abuse towards the heroine. She is actually treated very well for being a demon slave. The other slaves are not that lucky, but you don't get too much detail of what they go through.
This also has a bit of a love triangle even though I think it's pretty clear that the demon is the true hero. The story begins with the heroine being purposely bonded to a human before being sold into slavery. In this story, humans can have what seem like a supernatural bond if they isolate themselves to each other for a year building a almost unbreakable bond.
The reason for the human bond is that Hayley and Ryan are FBI agents and Hayley will be going undercover to infiltrate a human trafficking ring controlled by demons. She was bonded to Ryan as a way to bring her back to herself after she is bonded with a demon while undercover.
Funny enough, this is the part that I struggled with the most. I could not wrap my mind around humans being able to bond in this way. It's much easier for me to believe in the bond with the demon since they are already a supernatural being.
I don't want to give too much away, so I will just say that it was a good story and I liked the idea of Hayley falling for a demon. The problem for me was that I felt this story was a bit rushed. I needed it to be a bit more fleshed out to believe in her switch in bonds from Ryan to Conrad. I just didn't feel like I ever saw that love grow in her and Conrad. That's the only thing that really missed the mark for me in this book.
This did leave off on a cliffhanger so there is a chance that book two will provide that love I needed to see between Conrad and Hayley.
Wow... this book is so addictive ! The main character Hayley is an FBI agent sent undercover to be a slave to demons and to try and get evidence to bring the demon empire down. Only things don't work out as planned . You the reader will end up on a emotional rollercoaster and not knowing where and who Hayley should be with. It's got twists and turns and keeps you hooked that you don't want to put it down ! This book does contain strong dominating sex and violence.
Okay first things first! I need to say that I’m #teamConradVail
Omg I absolutely loved this book! This was my second Winter Fox book and i totally loved it! If you’re into hot Demons trying to be the king of the underworld who falls in love with a human then this is the book for you!
From the beginning the story just sucks you in! I definitely place this book in one of my 5 ⭐️ reads! If you haven’t read it yet then get it!!!
Really intriguing book with lots of twists and turns! Not sure who I’m rooting for but I definitely want to know how it ends, can’t wait for the next book to come out!!
This book is one of the best I read so far. It capture you from the start to the end. Well... Not the end as part 2 is not yet out. This is not a love story but it's about power, betrayal and unseen bond... " yes " " Yes what?" " yes master"
I'm not sure why I'd taken a moratorium from paranormal romance but that has ended here! Winter has combined the genre with my favorites..dark captive with non con and BDSM elements ,set in the world of human trafficking where my obsession first began with the likes of novels such as C.J Roberts Captive to the Dark and Pepper Winters Monsters in the dark. The addition of real monsters...Demons ,only serves to make for an even over the top sexy ,unique thrilling and addictive tale . The storyline is also intensified by the extreme vacillations Haley experiences between the two men to which she has simultaneously bonded. This is further complicated by the craven disingenuity and manipulation she encounters when least expected . Who are the true monsters in this scenario? And to whom will Haley's heart truly belong? I'm on to book two for answers and for what is sure to be another enjoyable ride\literary extravaganza....one that I'm certain I would rather never end!
I blame Fifty Shades of Shit for this shitty submissive/master genre. Somehow, a man beating an humiliating a woman into submission will make the woman fall for him like an asteroid. *roll my eyes
I never believed the bond between Hayley & Ryan. You love someone sooooooo much that it hurts to be without their touch... but you've never EVER had sex? Never wanted to make love to one another? Unless both Hayley & Ryan are living version of genital-less Barbie & Ken dolls, this is a crock of shit. The writer was a LOT inconsistent in trying to make an unconsummated bond like theirs come across as unbreakable, like she thought it was during the stolen-from-Twilight-restaurant-scene. From the looks of it, the waitress could have easily broken their bond.
I am tired of the Christian Grey aplhaholes.
The sex scenes were entertaining enough to keep me reading... I want to know what happened to Conrad now. Darn it!
The first book of the series. Very well written and I enjoyed reading it a lot. Did not end how I suspected it. I would definitely recommend this book for other people to read. One of my favourite books.
