Ganesha had a special place in my heart, There are two reasons for the same.
1) First time I have reviewed a manuscript. Yes, I have read it as manuscript and second time as a published work. So I am going to remember it as the first manuscript reviewing
2) I have read closely 250 fictions/novels in my life. (You may find numbers less, but I started it since 2016). I haven't read such a detailed book around animal life with an animal as the protagonist.

Ganesha is a unique story. In a normal novel, there is a human protagonist, supporting characters, an antagonist. (Sometimes pets as supporting characters). In Ganesh, an elephant named Ganesha is our protagonist. His herd-brother "One-Eyed" and head mahout are major supporting characters. And tuskless-Dundubhi is an antagonist of the story. Ganesha is shown as a crossbreed of Asian & African elephants. He was born in Africa in the wild. Due to a tragedy, all members of his herd died. He was transported to the Indian subcontinent. Here he met his heard-friend or I would say sworn-brother One-Eyed. When they reached the age they got separated from his maternal herd and joined a male elephant. During that time they first time met tuskless-Dundubhi. Later on due to Dundubhi they got captured and did some commendable tasks. Apart from them, there is one human character is also narrated in the book who was shown similar to Veerappan. Read the book to know more.

Frankly speaking, I am completely flat. The book is a brilliant piece of work. The author has done a wonderful job of providing animal world information of so many animal families be it elephant, lion, tiger, snake, python, dogs and many more. At the same time, he has shown the cruelty of human nature which has affected wildlife drastically sending many of wildlife into extinction. While reading the book you will feel like watch Discovery or National Geographic Wildlife shows.

Some books tend to leave an everlasting impression on a reader’s memory Ganesha is one such book. Few things that make this book memorable is beautiful elaborated timeline. It is a well-researched and diligently written book the writer has taken into account subtle details that goes well with history. The writing is not only persuasive but also profoundly moving. A book like Ganesha is well contrived one as it can easily derail from its intended storytelling. The books story line is weaved along changing times of modern world and its impact on worldly beings. Surreal narration of incidents left me in agape and awe. Some incidents narration is far to realistic and gore and brutal at times but from writer’s perspective it was essential to make us understand and relate to the situation. The story telling is supple and ethos the brutality of poaching and wild life hunting. Dr. SKD has researched and have taken care of minute details of the wild life and their ways to make his writing poignant and realistic. I am an die hard national geographic and discovery channel documentary fan and this book never let my attention snap. The book starts from African savanna with a elephant calf of mixed breed (half African and half Asian) peculiarity in looks and behavior and his existence in torrid condition. Writer takes us on an odyssey from Africa to Asia. The narration is acrid and cleverly engages the readers with weaving the story around ever changing geo political situation. Timeline goes from 2nd world war to India’s independence to 1st wild life conservation laws to rise of LTTE and sandal wood mafia.

ook Title: Ganesha
Author: Syd K
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book is the name of the protagonist, an elephant, ' Ganesha '. The choice of the title looks interesting.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is the abstract image of an elephant but pictures of two elephants merged as one. What could be the reason behind this can only be known once the book is read.

Plot:
The story is about an elephant, Ganesha, which is left alone on an island for story's own reasons and a fellow human other than his mahout helps Ganesha to get into the wild woods again but to face unexpected situations.

Why was Ganesha left alone? What happened to its Mahout? Who is the other man? What experiences did Ganesha face in the new horizons?

What I like:
1. The portrayal of an elephant as the protagonist
2. Every page reminds the duty of a human as an evolved being to take care of Mother Earth
3. At some point in the story, animals look better than humans with respect to thinking
4. The unconditional love an animal gives to a human is described beautifully
5. The innocent lives which cannot speak use every possible way to express their agony. This part is very beautifully illustrated.
6. The author has tried putting some sense in the human minds towards our duty to save these animals.

What I didn't like:
There is nothing to dislike but if you are not a regular watcher of animal-related news, programs, and documentaries, this might bore you.

Characters:
The character, Ganesha is very well written.

Narration:
An engaging narration is found in the book.

Language & Grammar:
Simple English language with good grammar makes the book comfortable to read.

My Final Verdict:
Good experience

‘Ganesha’ is not a philosophical book; it is a story of a hybrid elephant who fights tooth and nail to combat every trouble in his life. It is a story that inspires us to be strong, believe in what is right and bond well with the ones we love.

Just like how a Wildlife Series is narrated on National Geographic or Discovery channel, the narrative of the book for the first few chapters is quite taut.

Speechless...!
Yes, I was a bit skeptical about this book at first, when I was contacted by the author, because of the fact that this book is a little different than my reading choices. But, I know the author's previous work, and after reading a couple of reviews, I accepted a review copy. I am so glad that I did!
This book surrounds life of an elephant - Ganesha, which, as the name suggests, a hybrid of asian and african genes. We also have a male character named Maari, with a very dark character. both of their stories starts individually, intertwining in between.
This is a unique book in many ways. First, the protagonist of the book is Ganesha, the elephant, though the story is not told by Ganesha's prospective. The story shows not only the emotions and bonding these animals have, but also their intelligence and instincts. It is fascinating to read about different animal species and their behaviors in different environments, which author has minutely described with very interesting details. The research which author must have done in order to imagine such great story is clearly visible.
The story starts slow but picks up quickly and very soon, keeps the reader on the toe for the rest of the book. At times, some descriptions are heavily science influenced in terms of language, but it is not that difficult to follow. So, stick around. Also, sometimes I felt like I wanted to dive deep into the thought process of animals, which, in my opinion, the author could have done a great job.
The author undoubtedly proved himself yet again with such a nice book.

Nonetheless, it was a refreshing read to kick off my reading year! A must read for any wildlife or animal lovers. Also those who enjoy branching out from their reading genres, this can be a great start !

It was a unique read, a unique experience. Books plots around a hybrid elephant named "Ganesha". He's left after his mahout dies in a storm and that if an infamous poacher mari. .

The book concludes about animals and somehow relations of animals with human beings. It gives a great thought and experience about wildlife while reading the book. Anyhow, animals are stronger and mentally fit just like humans Even more than that.

Book is written in a good point of view with beautiful thoughts towards wildlife.

Writing is quite understandable, Book cover is nice but it can be more good for attracting the people who decides books by its beautiful and interesting cover along with story. Book names is nice "GANESHA".

✌People who love wildlife and love reading about wildlife, Love watching discovery can opt this book... They will surely like it!

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

A books that’ll warm your heart, bring a smile to your face, make your fingers tremble with apprehension, make you shed a tear, bring a smile again.

I am so glad that I have read this masterpiece of a book! This book will keep you hooked till the very end. And I mean it, till the end!

‘Ganesha’ by Dr Syd K. is a book that will enlighten you with how the wilds of the wild (especially elephants) feel, express emotions, and survive, in the form of a beautiful story that shall forever remain close to your heart. The book starts with the birth and childhood experiences of ‘Ganesha’- an Afro-Asian elephant who is one of his kind and who is christened by an Englishman. To know how the Englishman and the Afro-Asian elephant crossed paths, you need to read the book!

While the book follows the experiences of the Afro-Asian elephant and his surroundings, it also follows the activities of a deadly poacher who would go to any extent to have his poaching business flourish. With that, the author has also given us backgrounds of other characters who play important roles in the book. You need to dive into this book to know how ‘Ganesha’, his friends (both human and elephants), and how the poachers entwine their stories and how they all affect each other.

This book portrays a beautiful relationship between man and wild. This book is about friendship that knows no boundaries of species or colour. This book is about the essence of a pure bond that is formed due to the abstract willingness of the souls to know each other.

There are so many things that I absolutely love about this book! The beautiful story is very engaging and full of wit and reason. I love how unique the storyline is! I, for sure, hadn’t read a book like this one ever before. Also, the author has made use of good vocabulary. With clean writing and the use of words that absolutely express what they are meant to, this book is a rich read. I also like how the fiction is backed up with behaviour-evidences and other scientific evidences. The plot is intricately designed by giving meaning to each character’s existence in the story. Oh and of course, this book kept me hooked till the very end!

I found very few typos that too, only in the beginning that wouldn’t come in the notice of the reader until she/he reads it too closely.

This is a must-read for all the animal-lovers and nature-enthusiasts. This book will definitely take you to a different world altogether. I highly recommend it to those who are looking for a moving and unique read and to those who would like to see the world through the eyes of elephants!

As humans, we have long trapped animals in cages & zoos - yet we see all our virtues as well as vices reflected in different kinds of animals. Greedy vultures, hardworking beavers, slow sloths - these show that there is always a 2-way relation between humans & the animal kingdom, one that is potently described in the e-book 'Ganesha - An Afro Asian Story' written by Dr.Syd K.

As is fairly obvious from the title, the story revolves around an elephant who is fortuitously named Ganesha, by the very hunter who had set out to kill him & his tribe. He is an anomaly of sorts - having mixed Asian & African genes, combining the best of the characteristics as he goes on to live an action-packed life - one where he faces danger from not only his tribe, but also other creatures, humankind in particular.

Parallel to this main plot, we also read the story of Maari - a quick-thinking little boy who goes on to become one of the most feared dacoits of the country - running a poaching business that spreads far & wide, across political paradigms & ideologies to imbibe fear in the hearts of not only the humans he comes into contact with but also the animals that stay in the forests that he has made his home.

The story is described from a dual perspective - you read it through the eyes of the animals, as well as the humans - this makes for an interesting dichotomy & we see the difference in the way things are perceived. The fraught history of humans & animals is beautifully focused on in the story, early on we see the dilemma that the big-game hunters have- to kill or not to kill, which makes a comeback towards the end as well, when Ganesha helps Maari as he lies dying after an attack by another rogue elephant.

This book is nothing if not well researched & throws a tad too much detail on the mating habits of animals, elephants in particular. The same detail has also gone in the description of the entire countryside - African & Asian, but here it works beautifully & encourages the reader to explore more.

Ganesha, symbolically as well as the story is an excellent representation of animal dynasties, human friendships & the values that bind them all - something different for sure!

Hello peeps! Today, I bring you the review of an interesting book. It is called Ganesha: An Afro-Asian story by Syd K. I have read the author’s book before and I find his writing style gripping.

The author has a keen interest in wildlife and if you, too, are someone who takes pleasure in this genre, then you would find it amusing. I am not much of a wildlife enthusiast but, nevertheless, the book was absorbing and I enjoyed it.

So, let’s get this show on the road and begin the review.

Summary

The book is about an elephant named Ganesha, who is an interesting mix- that of an Asian father and an African mother. The story begins from his birth in 1943 all the way to his death in India. The story tracks the life of the mammal from Africa and how he lands up in India and gets on with his life in this new land. The story also talks about poachers and how that affects wildlife.

The book opens our eyes to our blind behaviour towards animals and also poaching, which is illegal but still happens, regardless.

What I Liked

I liked how the story was told from Ganesha’s point of view. It shows how different the beasts are -compassionate and sensitive- compared to us. The author has done tremendous research in the way elephants live and behave. I had no idea of their behavior after, let’s say, a death in their herd or when they mature. It is absolutely fascinating.

The writing style of the author is spot-on. The pace is fast and the lives of these animals are told in the form of a story, which is absorbing. It is not a lengthy read but the characters and their plight stay with you long after you’ve finished the book. An extraordinary tale of an extraordinary elephant.

What I Did Not Like

Nothing negative to write about the book. But I just want to put one point across. Since Ganesha: An Afro-Asian story is entirely about animals in the wilderness, it might not be for everyone.

Other Details

I have read and reviewed a book by Syd K previously named Semmanthaka : The Second Quest .

Would I Recommend It?

If you are an animal lover/enthusiast, then you would love this book. It is more than just a story, it is a lesson to mankind that sensitizes us about animal welfare and our behaviour towards them.

To be totally honest, I actually had rejected the review offer first when I had encountered the book. Usually by looking at the cover and blurb I can pretty much decide whether I'd totally like the book or just thrash it. Usually if there's a possibility of me not liking it, I rather avoid the book instead of thrashing it. But here it was something different. I actually was offered the book again by a friend Richa from HBB and I couldn't refuse her. In a way, I am glad I didn't reject it again.

Neither did the blurb not the cover revealed much about the book. It was a very weird and absurd combination as from the cover it look as some sort of encyclopedia book types which shared a ton of info about elephants and their conservations and what not but from the blurb it felt like a story from elephant's point of view. If you have seen the animated movie 'Jumbo' you'd get what I am trying to convey.

This was like double crossing my prediction and confused me. Well now since it was in my TBR pile I had to check it out and read it anyway. I thought if it turned out to be something which I'd have tendency to trash, I would just refuse and leave a neutral review. But honestly it surprised me to an extent I had to leave my bias and somewhat it solved my confusion.

The only thing I despise about this book is its lack ability to just attract reader both by cover and blurb. The content here inside is interesting but the blurb and cover just kind of repluses and confuses readers. Generally, most readers would just stay out of taking a chance and buying something which doesn't feel good.

Coming to the content, I feel it is something which you should read and see how it fairs in your opinion. Personally the geek me loved the info and way the information about a certain species and its interactions with humans was told in a story manner.

I feel it is like a readable wildlife documentary. If you are someone like me who loves watching wildlife documentaries then you'd surely love this one. Also if you are someone who just loves the flora and fauna, along with knowing more about them you can check this book out. I am guaranteed that it won't disappoint you.

Short Review:
This book is extraordinary & unique from all the other books I have read till date.
The story is about a hybrid elephant, Ganesha, who was born in Africa and was soon separated and transported to India. Where he meets one-eyed and Dundubhi
what happened to its Mahout? What obstacles did Ganesha face in India? What happens when Ganesha comes face-to-face with Maari?
To find out the answers you will have to read the book.

What I like:
1. At some places, the values of life are explained well.
2. The portrayal of an elephant as the protagonist.
3. I really loved the nature scenery and description of the forest.
4. The unconditional love an animal gives to a human is described beautifully
5. The unconditional love an animal gives to a human is described beautifully

A power-packed narration is found in the book.

Forget the thought of getting to know the story of humans instead try knowing the story of an animal and its life. Yes ! it is more piercingly realistic exploration than the rest. Over the years, People grow but do they change? Maybe. But loyalty, gratefulness is outta the question. The only fact that differs between animal and human is one. Intelligence. Given the drastic circumstances, humans have plenty of things to learn from animals.

Well for starters, I must say that author has keenly weaved the great plot by having Ganesha, Afro- Asian elephant as a protagonist right from his birth, his transportation to South India And how he moved to Nilgiris, the random roamings, his joining of the herds. So the further event unfolds the aspects of animal survival intelligence and their life patterns. On the other hand, It crosses the life of Maari who was born on the same day as of Ganesha, here in Kerala border parallel and how he becomes a poacher. Maari, this character brush of the Veerappan at certain instances but his subject is entirely different in real. Dig more this to know further how Ganesha life ends and the moral it unfolds?

This book offers wonderful depictions of wildlife and the conservations. Coming to the author narrative style, He handled the weight of the words carefully to encompass the nature’s details, animal instincts, subdues emotions amid the complexity of the rut. At the end of the read, I’ve come to know the dark facts due to ecological imbalance and poachers activities. When comes to the cover it couldn’t be any better to reek its story.

Overall, it’s a deeply affecting story having a great stretch of the imagination.

Ganesha

It's a story of a hybrid elephant written by Dr. SYD K. The narration of the story has been made very beautifully. The elephant here is the protagonist. It's a tale of an Afro-Asian elephant and how he is born and lived his life without his group of herds.

Ganesha was born in Africa but was separated when he was very young due to some natural calamities prevented their. Due to storm many people along with several animals and birds died their. But somehow Ganesha survived but became all alone. He was brought to India but soon his master also died and he was left in an unknown island again all alone. He faced a lot of hurdles but faced them with utter strength, kindness and cooperation and unity with one eyed.

The author here in this story tells us and shows us about how an animal life is and what difficulties they faces and how human being torture them. The author also mentioned here about poaching, the poacher and the smuggling of animals. We can learn a lot of things from these story. The unity and kindness of the animal being and how they lead their life. It also showed the relationship of human with animals. It was a fantastic reread, Very unique and interesting to read I must say because it's a very different Story. One should definitely read it because the language is very influential and one must learn some morality from the story. Highly recommend specially for animal lovers.

I’d never imagined that the protagonist of my current read would be an elephant. What a great thought and a different one. That really made heads turn when the book came out.

Ganesha is a hybrid ( afro Asian) elephant who loses his mahout in a storm and is stuck in an island. Poacher Maari portrays the way into darkness and shows the wicked world of wildlife mafia. The evil face of poaching is portrayed well when Maari fights off his own battle. Ganesha is friends with one eye who keeps Ganesha company till the end.

The book brings out the depiction of life and death of the elephant Ganesha. The book beautifully brings out the relationship between animals and humans and how far it does affect the former when they lose a close one. The sensitive feeling of the animals has been brought out in a commendable way.

The narration is just perfect setting the stage for the whole plot to unfold. The plot is crisp and does not go to unwanted detailing. The psyche of the animals is well explained and goes to prove that they are more socially behaved than the humans.

It was a varied out of box thought of making the animal a protagonist. I enjoyed reading the book. The cover is simple and does give you an outright picture of what you would be reading about.

In this book two stories run parallel to each other. One is about Ganesha, an Afro-Asian elephant & other one is about Maari, who is a Poacher.

Ganesha was a hybrid of Asian & African elephant. He was born in Africa and then transported to India. Author takes us on the life journey of wild elephant. Detailed description about mystery behind his birth, life in African forest, transportation to India, life in Indian forest, bonding with humans, temple duties etc is given. Story is told in the Ganesha's perspective.

On the other hand Maari, born on same day as Ganesha in India. Later he became legend of southern forest & the Don of Poachers. His life journey is also well explained by author.

Book explores the various aspects of wild life. Detailed description about elephants given. Author highlighted their behaviour, unity, friendship, kindness & wilderness. Life of Poachers with their ruthlessness is well explained.

Title is good. Cover is appropriate for the story. Language is easy to understand. Narration is also very good.

The story is about a hybrid elephant, Ganesha, who was born in Africa and was soon separated and transported to India. Where he meets one-eyed and Dundubhi.

When you start reading this third-person omniscient narrative, you come across a fictional piece which is an exotic amalgamation of facts and verses in the praise of wildlife, especially elephants.

Ganesha was born in Africa but was separated when he was very young due to some natural calamities prevented their. Due to storm many people along with several animals and birds died their. But somehow Ganesha survived but became all alone. He was brought to India but soon his master also died and he was left in an unknown island again all alone. He faced a lot of hurdles but faced them with utter strength, kindness and cooperation and unity with one-eyed.

While reading you tend to feel as if you are listening to a well-informed zoologist with a fine sense of humor. Not only that the entire piece is woven in an excellent storyline with a lot of emotional and human influence and not like a dry-unsavory documentary piece which makes it an arduous task to read for nonlovers of wildlife.
The unity and kindness of the animal being and how they lead their life and also showed is the relationship of human with animals.

It was an absorbing experience to read a book from the point of view of an Elephant. Never read a book like this till now. Seriously! It was really a pure sense of happiness!

The book discusses about a hybrid elephant Ganesha and his story, as he was left out on an island after his mahout dies in a storm, and an infamous poacher Maari who paves his way into the dark world of wildlife mafia. During his experiences Ganesha befriends One-Eye who stays with him till the end, and their friendship really sends out a message to everyone. Maari fights his own battles and shows us all the ugly face of poaching.

Various aspects of wildlife are explored in this book and explained as if they are in front of our eyes. First time got to know how animals go blind when their hunger takes over, but at the same time the book also portrays the sensitivity of their relationship with humans. When it comes to intelligence, it shows that animals may be behind us, but in some situations they actually prove to be a lot more human than us.

The depth of the book was admirable, though the plot grows routine at times. But if you're someone who loves animals this book is the just right treat for you!

An interesting book about Ganesha- Ganesha whose African-Asian mix genes made him an exceptional elephant when it came to intelligence as well as emotions.

This book made me fall in love with Ganesha whose journey from Africa to India, from living in a tribe to roaming in the depth of Indian jungles and from a calf to a huge young elephant, is tremendous.
.
His struggles from feeding his hunger to settling his musth, from making a place in a new country/climate to living in the hearts of people, from respecting the prime elephants to protecting humans are written splendidly by Dr. Syd K.
.
It also has a parallel story of a boy called Maari who turns into a wildlife mafia business man and does numerous cruel deeds. Later on Ganesh and Maari face an encounter in one of the chapters which is among the most interesting chapters in the book. The end will keep you on the edge of your seat.
.
Overall this book will keep you hooked as Ganesha’s personality is something you can’t avoid but fall in love with and if you are an elephant lover like me then this is something you shouldn’t miss.

Every life has its value and place on earth is what we the supreme creation with six senses need to understand. We humans need to coexist with the helpless animals that are fighting for survival to make this earth an anode of peace for both of us.

The cover is simple but could have been better. Title is catchy. Narration is power packed. Language is crisp . Plot is gripping.

It's a story about an afro Asian elephant. The author takes us on the journey between the birth and death called life , of the elephant Ganesha.

What I liked?
The wonderful narration and the detailed description of most endangered animals is appreciable.
The friendship, gratefulness and unity amongst the animals is highlighted for the humans to learn from it.
The sensitivity of the animals and the ruthlessness of the poachers has been very well depicted .
The wonderful heart rending climax is a lesson to mankind

What I didn't like?
Few descriptions are violent and gore that did not go well with me

My verdict
A fantastic novel that is a real treat to animal lovers and a must read for all the readers...

📚Ganesha By SYD.K📚
On the trail of Ganesha, the Afro-Asian calf, born by a quirk of fate and in the most improbable of circumstances in the wilds of East Africa in 1943. Then begins his journey to the Southern wilds of India and his fight for survival in those new wilds.
.
📚My Take: Reading this book is one of the best thing I did this week. I have started this book considering it as a simple book but it turned out to be completely amazing. Peeping into the book, you will find alot of emotions oozing out of the book. The language is amazing, it's simple, it's beautiful, it's intriguing & overall it's an amalgamation of various unseen factors about animals, the book has a parallel storyline running with it.
.
At some point you will be roaming in the forests of Afro & at times you will lost in the jungles of Asia. The narration is changes accordingly with respect to the situations going. If you are looking for a emotional, deep, happy, sensitive & an amazingly narrated book then go for it. It's definitely recommended

Very interesting read.
Though Description mentions about two main characters "Ganesha" the elephant and "Maari" the poacher in addition to their stories one can say author has written a documentary about elephant life and animal hunter/poachers and smuggling market.
As author has tried to cover to many things, give maximum information in one book which is in a way good at the same time draw back. Some times as a reader one get confused whether the book is documentary or fiction whether to concentrate on story or gain information about animals.
Overall plot is interesting, it starts from birth to death of both the characters Ganesha and Maari, hohowboth cross each others life as mentioned in description of book.

Pros:
Book is very insightful
Language used is simple

Cons:
Lot of characters in supporting role and even animals have name and sometimes confusing.

For nature lovers book is a delight as it has lot of insightful information about elephants and a nice plot to enjoy

As the Blurb says, the prime plot element of this book is - wildlife. It covers many aspects of wildlife such as animal behaviours, hunting, poaching etc. The narration has been so beautifully done by the author that I could literally see everything he had described. It almost felt like travelling through the forests and watching everything as and when they happen. There would be multiple characters described here and there, along with a parallel storyline, which would leave you wondering on the purpose of their inclusion. But towards the end everything would make sense. Every character was used as much as possible and everything that was meant to be conveyed from them was precisely done. If you're a wildlife lover or looking for anything meaningful to read, I would definitely recommend this book. Towards the end, you would have a lot of realisations and values imparted from this. The cover and Blurb could have been better.
I would give this one a 4/5.

This book was amazing and was different from all the books i have read till date...When i started reading this book i was a bit confused with some words the author has used ..but later i realised that those words were used rightly...this book has taken me too a beautiful journey to the wildlife ....as soon as it had mentioned guruvayoor Keshavan ... my most favorite elephant (have heard a lot of stories about him)...i loved the book even more.....This book showed me how much an animal can love humans
I really liked the cover page a lot which is apt for the story of this book....i liked how the author has also very well explained about the human interactions in the forests take place and also how it may affect the nature and wildlife
If you are someone who loves to read about wildlife you can go for this book without any doubt..for sure you will not be disappointed

This is my first book where protagonist and antagonist both are animals. The story is told from Ganesha's perspective.  Who happens to be an elephant. This story is a bitter sweet sentimental to the extreme and almost childlike in it's simplicity. What i really like about the DR SYD K writing is you could really get the feel of the characters being that they are elephant. Ganesha an Afro- Asian elephant. Who was born in Africa and transported to India as all the members of his herd died. Met  one-eyed and Dundubhi in India. I don't want to reveal much about the story. Read the book to unlock the story. The language of the book is simple. Cover page and title is apt to the story. This is a powerful book with many messages. A must read. Highly recommend.

It's really nice to read things from elephant point of view.
The author has given a great deal of interest in explaining the lifestyle of an elephant like the physical and emotional changes that takes place in their life time and the fights for dominance or for female elephants or 'cows' as he says. The book also shows the cruel nature of humans. The story tracks the life of a afro Asian hybrid elephant from birth and how he survives the various aspects of life as he is left alone on the western coast of India and the parallel story of a boy named maari who is a hunter and his interaction with ganesha and his half brother is very interesting. The story also became a little monotonous and slow at times but I enjoyed reading it.

The cover gives an exact portrayal of what the story stands for. It is simple yet classy. The blurb is short but it is impactful and to the point. It shows you exactly what to expect when you read the book. What is conveniently left out of the blurbs is that the story is written from the perspective of an Elephant. This is the first book which I have come across written which could take me straight to being an Elephant. The book reads like a documentary and is actually informative. Language use is subtle and easy to understand. The unique blend embedded in the story is something for everyone to read. I am sure every animal lover will be fond of this story just as much.

This book really touched my heart. This book revolves around an afro asian elephant.
I am an animal lover and i loved the way the author has expressed the point of view of an animal.
The best part was the emotional point of animal discussed by author. It showed how sensitive animals can be, at times more than hunans, and how much they feel for each other.
The author gives a good understanding of wildlife. Must read for wildlife lovers.
The title is good and the language is simple.
The cover could have been more catchy.
Overall a nice and entertaining read.
