Natalie and Rob were meant to be together forever. He'd taught her how to laugh, how to trust, and how to love again. But the time they shared was tragically short, and the once thing he cannot teach her now is how to look after his teenage daughter. Turning to her own mother--whom she has never understood--Natalie takes her stepdaughter to Cornwall for Christmas and, as the three women spend time together, something remarkable begins to happen. And out of their grief comes the strength to forgive and the courage to love again...

An uninspiring front cover but a good read. Makes me want to visit Cornwall again. Although a segment of the story takes place at Christmas, I wouldn't associate the book as a Christmas themed book.
I have piles of books in my house buried in boxes that have moved around many different houses with me and have never been read. This is one of them. It has been with me for at least 9 years and I have no idea how it came into my life; whether someone gave it to me or whether I picked it up myself so there was a bit of mystery about its origins. I'd also never heard of Sarah Harvey so had no idea what to expect.
I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised. It was a really mature and thoughtful book. I was worried it would turn into a whole load of clichés but it was really realistic and it was wonderful to see both Natalie and Cas's development through the story. Natalie is a really likeable main character; vulnerable, lost and grieving at the beginning and it's beautiful to see how she grows and as a consequence how her relationships with the other characters grow too.
It really was a great book and I would definitely read another one from Harvey.
Definitely a keeper …… brought tears to my eyes at various points. I could see so many different lives here. Cornwall, stepdaughters etc etc . Absolutely loved it and will definitely read again !
