“Every thought I think
is creating my future.”

I was really impressed with this collection of affirmations when I got it. An affirmation is defined as: emotional support or encouragement. There is one for every week of the year, so you can do it for a week then change to a new one. They have two lines, you repeat one while inhaling, and the other while exhaling. I found this really soothing, with a meditation like feeling. The illustrations were colorful and pleasing that go along with the affirmations. This would make a good book for anyone wanting to learn more about the subject, or who is ready to use affirmations for positivity, mood improvement, etc. Advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, author Ani Trime, and the publisher..

Ani Trime left behind her black leather jacket and motorcycle to become a Buddhist nun. During her nearly four decades, she practiced meditation and found the teachings to be positively transformative and sought to share this wisdom with others. Contained in this little book are 52 affirmations, one to meditate and ponder for each week of the year, accompanied by delightful illustrations. These works of art were created by 14 different artists from all over the world.

Trime believed that we too readily believe our negative thoughts and that we have the power to change our lives with our thinking. She wanted people to understand that they have the power to have a more positive life experience. These 52 affirmations, which Trime refined over the years, are full of inspiration and encouragement. While seemingly simple, they are powerful ideas that will reassure, energize and embolden. I have already ordered this little book overflowing with wisdom. I recommend you do the same and use these affirmations. There is sure to be many that will immediately resonate with you.

Thank you to Storey Publishing and NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Storey Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC,

I am sorry to say that I had not heard of Ami Trime Lharmo before seeing this book. This was a great shame for me as it is apparent she was a very treasured and loved teacher. We are lucky that she has, through the dedication of her students , left us all with this lovely, easy to read yet powerful little book.

Her affirmations can be quickly read in one sitting yet they are full of great wisdom and provoke much thought so they will be returned to again and again.

Each affirmation is separated by an artwork from different artists. The artwork is simple yet each artist has produced a work that was evoked from the corresponding affirmation.

Although I meditate regularly, I have never used affirmations, either separately or as part of my practice. I will be trying this out with enthusiasm and curiosity.

A beautiful and inspiring book that is helpful to the beginner and experienced mindfulness or meditation user. The illustrations with each affirmation are beautiful and well thought out, they fit perfectly and inspire even more. A lovely introduction about the author who I hadn’t heard of but what a life and inspiration. I will be regularly using this book and I recommend it to anyone who needs or uses affirmation in mindfulness. A wonderful guide in meditation

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

My son gave me this for my birthday and I am just now making time to read it! I love that Ani was a motorcycle riding, black leather jacket wearing tough girl before she became a Buddhist nun. I love that every affirmation starts with I am. “Every thought to think is creating my future.”

I had to google Ani Trime when I started reading this book, and was happy to watch a few interviews and TED talks by this lovely Buddhist monk, even though I didn't find her until after her death at 88. The book is composed of 52 very short meditations designed to concentrate in as you breathe in and out. Each meditation is two sentences. You think of the first line on the inhale and the second line on the exhale, again and again. Each one is accompanied by art.

An example meditation:
My mind is the source of all my joy.
My mind is the source of all my sorrow.

It would be useful to watch Trime's short TED talk to really understand her message about how our thoughts create our lives and how to meditate (she points out it's fine if you think during meditation, any human will, just notice it and keep going). She was a big believer in being kind to ourselves, and that comes through in this book. She wrote many of the meditations in preparation for her death and her friends (associates? fellow practitioners?) finished it. Trime encouraged people to meditate for 15 minutes a day for a month and said it would bless their lives. I can see how this book could help that happen. I plan to give it a go.

My rating system:
1 = hated it
2 = it was okay
3 = liked it
4 = really liked it
5 = love it, plan to purchase, and/or would buy it again if it was lost

I read a temporary digital ARC of the book for the purpose of review.

A few examples:

-I move forward with confidence;

All is well in my life.

-I release the desire for control;

I accept things as they are.

-I am gentle and loving

toward myself and others.

In this book, I learned that Ani Trime was a motorcycle riding woman who became a Buddhist nun. Ani Trime died in her 80s when she was working on this book of affirmations. It was completed and illustrated by her students.

The book is a collection of 52 affirmations. The author's intention was to have a reader, in a given week, say the same mantra each day. I will try that but, of course, could not wait 52 weeks to review this title.

If you are a person that follows a mindfulness practice or app, this book could/will enhance your experience. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this read in exchange for an honest review.

This compilation was a clear demonstration of the amount of love and respect had for Ani Trime. The affirmations are wonderful for both experienced and novice practitioners and the introduction provides simple instructions if this is your first foray into meditation. I loved the art associated with each affirmation; the varied artists give the book a playful tone. I also felt each image provides the reader with something to focus their meditation on if they are struggling to clear their mind. Though I read this in one sitting, I intend to go back through it at a leisurely pace and implementing it into my daily meditations.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This is exactly as advertised - Buddhist in nature. I’m a firm believer in affirmation and encouraging words. I am always looking for quotes and affirmations to share with my loved ones who need a word of love, encouragement, or focus. This book is simplistic in nature (which is a plus) and the artwork is lovely. Given one affirmation here and there, it is easy to incorporate these into every day life. However, after reading so many affirmations in a row, it is obvious that Buddhism conflicts with my Christian beliefs. Because of that, it is difficult for me to recommend this book to others.

Ani Trime's Little Book of Affirmations is a meditation aid which is useful all who practice meditation, new and established alike.

Each affirmation is written in two lines, with the first meant to be said on the breath in and the second on the breath out. These little gems are guaranteed to enhance your peacefulness and positivity. With one (beautifully illustrated) affirmation for each week of the year, you'll have plenty of time to absorb each one fully.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions expressed here are my own

i absolutely needed this, and adored it. i repeated many of them to myself and want to remember their weight forever, for that weight made me feel light for the first time in a long time. i'm currently going through the roughest period of my life i've experienced in awhile, and these words and images helped me immensely. i need to own this collection so i can open it every time i need a reminder of where i should be instead of where my mind may take me.

"she knew first hand how prone most of us are to negativity, self-criticism, even self-hatred."

i don't want to do that anymore. i want to be okay. i want to realize i am okay.

I quite enjoyed this little book. I like that the affirmations are weekly rather than daily, so you really have time to absorb them. The meditation style the affirmations are intended for is pretty doable- each one is two sentences, breathe in, repeating the first sentence, breathe out, repeating the second sentence. I can do this! I appreciated the accessibility of the technique. The illustrations are colorful and fun, each done by a different illustrator. Would make a great gift!

Before I became more spiritual I never really thought of using affirmations. I just thought it was New Age stuff so I didn’t pay it any attention. The older I became the more my thought processes changed and I now see how powerful affirmations can be. This book is a great guide to help you become in-tuned and attract the things you want. Although you still have to put in some work, but the universe will definitely guide you. Blessings!

I loved this book and think it would make a great gift. The illustrations are beautiful and I enjoyed reading the positive affirmations, many of which I've marked so I remember them! I also appreciated the directions at the beginning of the book that explained to say the first line on a breath in and the last line on the breath out.

A meditación for each day, basically just breath in and out. The meditation has two set of words, one for inhale and one for exhale.

When I got this book, I had never heard of Ani Trime. However, since I like to meditate and I'm continuously on the lookout for things which might help me to become more mindful, I thought I'd give this book a try.

I'm very, very glad that I did.

It's filled with wonderful illustrations and affirmations. It's very short and can be read quickly, but it's the kind of book that you can come back to over and over again and keep being inspired by it.

In fact, returning back to it regularly is exactly what's suggested here. There are 52 affirmations in the book, one for each week of the year. It is suggested that the reader try to focus on one affirmation per week.

That's exactly what I plan to do now.

I loved this book and was very inspired by it. I highly recommend it to all people who are interested in this topic.
