Wish You Were Here A routine trip to the vet begins a wild adventure when Suzy Maycomber and her cat, Snowball, take a shortcut through the cemetery and find themselves in the mystical land of Nightshade, where magic exists and cats talk. Only the librarian, Rachel, the most powerful witch in Nightshade, can help Suzy get home. One big Rachel's just been murdered. Desperate to find her way home, Suzy reluctantly agrees to take Rachel’s place as Nightshade’s resident witch, where she’ll have access to the spell books that might hold the answers she needs. But her search for the truth draws Suzy ever deeper into danger. There is someone – or something – in Nightshade that doesn’t want Suzy to get home. Rachel’s murderer is prepared to kill again – and Suzy may be next. If Suzy wants to get home, she’ll have to learn to be a witch first. 2. Witch Spells Trouble Just when Suzy Maycomber is getting settled at the Academy in Hemlock, trouble strikes again. Suzy discovers one of her classmates murdered in the basement of the school, and the only witness is a ghost that speaks in riddles and rhymes. Determined to unmask the killer, Suzy enlists the help of Snowball and Alfie... but something doesn't feel right. The toil and trouble doubles when almost everyone in Hemlock begins acting differently, including Alfie. Can Suzy cast her way out of another case of murder, mystery, and mayhem or will whatever is taking over the town get her too? 3. Stone Cold Witch After a werewolf is found dead in the woods after having been turned to stone, the entire town of Nightshade is on edge. At a werewolf wedding that Suzy and Snowball are invited to, a second werewolf is targeted. However, the second murder is vastly different from the first, leaving local authorities confused about a possible motive. Is the killer targeting werewolves? Or, is there more than one killer? Trouble seems to follow Suzy, but she promises to help solve this new mystery. Along with her friend Red Sumac, they head to the town of Safe Haven – home of the world’s greatest experts on stone - gargoyles. However, while in Safe Haven, Suzy discovers a truth about her past that will change everything. Can Suzy and her friends bring the killer to justice? And, can Suzy do it all while juggling the female vampire in town who has her cold, dead heart, set on winning over Val? 4. Life's A Witch After a spate of gargoyle murders, Suzy Maycomber finds herself running out of time to catch the culprit and save her friend, Red Sumac, who has been framed for the murders. Gargoyles daring to seek better lives for themselves has caused the cult group, the Anti-Masons, to re-emerge and target them. As the granddaughter of one of the world’s most notorious Anti-Masons’, Suzy’s friend, Red Sumac, is automatically under suspicion of murderous activity in Hemlock. Join Suzy and friends as they go deep under cover as Anti-Masons to discover the truth, while endangering their own lives. Will they succeed or will Red Sumac be doomed to spend the rest of her days in a witch’s prison? 5.
The story was good and fast paced, especially for a cozy mystery. The editing was just the worst I have seen in years. There are entire chapters where the character Sprout is misidentified as "Stout." It is very offputting, but a good story with likable characters is a thing of beauty so i just rolled my eyes at editing hiccups and plugged through. It is a sweet, wholesome series I'd recommend, especially to young readers. Some of the moral and ethical supernatural parallels to current issues were a tad heavy handed but people certainly need to learn acceptance and inclusion, so cheers on those themes! I will be following Ms. Woods from now on!
These were cute stories. A little predictable. The author really needs to review her own stories since she keeps changing things. Doc was first a handsome face now hes am old man. People weren't supposed to go through the library since the books didn't like to be touched now anyone can browse. Delila was changed to an elf now she's a witch. Those are some details that were changed.
This boxset has all the books in the Nightshade series which is a cozy paranormal mystery ride.
It mainly follows Suzy as she enters a mystical entrance through the cemetery while taking her cat, Snowball to the vet but instead finds herself in the magical small town of Nightshade where only creatures of magic and myth exist.
Suzy soon finds herself as the new white witch in town when she always thought herself to be a simple human girl.
I heard the four books in this series on Audible and absolutely devoured them because this is the kind of fantastical and adventure ride that is my utmost favorite and I was over the top excited when I came across this series.
We have Suzy, the powerful witch and spell master, her talking cat and familiar, Snowball, a magical library where books talk, her assistant, a dwarf, elves and werewolves and the handsome vampire who's also the preacher of the town, Val who also finds himself having the best chemistry with the only white witch in town, Suzy.
Each book is simply a magical package that will take you on a wild roller coaster and with so many twists and magical creatures, keeping you totally hooked and filled with adventure upon adventure.
This series has me absolutely smitten with the town of Nightshade and Suzy and Snowball and Alfie and all the folks and I seriously couldn't have enough.
This boxset is special because it has the fifth book with the final battle and showdown with Night Shadow, the ultimate villain in this series.
It was filled with shocking revelations and magical secrets that had me wide eyed and even though some were a bit stretched yet I absolutely loved every freaking second of it.
I have to say I've become an absolute fan of Ms. Woods' writing and the way she spins her stories have me wanting more of her brand of magical roller-coasters.
Oh my... Such a fun and full of shocking but awe filled surprises riddled ride this one was. Absolutely loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Really enjoyed this 'saga' but a bit mystified as to how Snowball turned into a white cat in book 5 when in the previous four she had been a black cat/familiar also the genie, Delila, in book 4 becomes an elf as Peter wishes her to escape her fate but then in book 5 she has become a witch... I understand 'poetic license' and that to enable the ending Delila had to be changed but why change Snowball's colour, it was supposed to be an ironic naming originally and didn't affect the ending so I still don't understand this change-that said, I really enjoyed this whole story and hope they have many more adventures...
Love loves loved this set of stories and author. Cute, funny, and endearing with a hint of mystery. A time to the point of feeling like you just stepped right into the book of Nightshade. Thank you so much I don't think I have enjoy such a good read in quiet sometime.

5 books linked with amazing characters both good and bad!
Suzy wanders through a gateway and finds herself in Nightshade - a town of witches, warlocks and many other mythical creatures. She learns that she too is a witch - a very special type of Master witch. So begins her many adventures through this magic town and country ending in a fierce Magical battle. It was great! The author has amazing imagination in creating not only the witches but many other types of magical beings and sets them into an amazing story. I loved it and highly recommend this series to all.
Enjoyed this miniseries very much although the fourth book pushed the discrimination thing a bit far. The fifth book, disappointing- too many errors. Like forgetting Suzy’s familiar was a black cat, not remembering some of the characters’ names and got a bit too preachy. Seemed like the book was merely an afterthought.
Welcome to Nightshade! These stories not only grab you and keep you interested but they are so much fun! Ms. Woods weaves incredible tales including witches, gargoyles, elves, vampires, trolls, gods, demi-gods, a sarcastic familiar named Snowball and so much more. Once you start reading, you’ll not be able to stop. Enjoy!
I hate to say it but the last book was so full of editing errors and a black cat becomes white near end of book. As I enjoy all her books it wont put me off reading more of them but I would get it proof read a few times so these mistakes do not occur again. Apart from that the other 4 books were good
Susie finds herself in a new realm in a new city one she had never seem the likes of in the mortal world. This is a fun adventure into the discovery of a young adults past and how she became raised in an orphanage. Along with the trials of being a witch without training.
I had fun with this series, however because of the short length of the stories a lot of the action and therefore the resolutions to each story felt quite rushed. Yet the characters were enjoyable and I liked the direction that the series went int.
Really enjoyed this box set. Was a bit confusing in the last book when all day through Snowball was a black cat, but in the last book she was white.. And the genie turned into an elf, then a witch? All in all would still recommend to all readers who like a bit a magic in their reading ☺
I only gave it 4 stars because of the last book. Not sure what happened but names changed, so did snowball color. The little werewolf was Ray in the first four but Roy in the last . Snowball was black in four but White in the last one. The genie was changed to an elf in book four but was a witch in book five
Fantastically magical. I had a hard time putting it down, a real page turner. Even though it is a work of fiction the story draws you in , and you can't wait to see what will happen next. The characters were very believable.
I really loved these books . They kept me interested and I did not want to put them down. I am wondering if there will be more or, if this is then end of this series. I will recommend these books to all my friends.
Great collection of books. Loved them! Read them please you'll enjoy them! What a fun collection. Hope you will keep writing these fun to read books without cussing and sex. What great characters you will love them.
Great series but there were some simple grammatical errors that could have easily been caught. Otherwise l, would recommend to readers who like this genre.
Really reallly want more loving all the characters and the inclusiveness now feeling extremely warm and fluffy. Highly recommend hope you enjoy it as much as I have 💖💖💖
These with books were a lot of fun characters you never thought would meet . What adventures and disastrous consequences you think how the help are they going to get out of that?
I love this take on the "female mortal" and her newly discovered witch powers. The characters are well written, the individual stories interesting and the battles of good against evil comes to a fantastic and surprising climax.
Series ended to soon. Full of adventures and surprises...the ending was cool. Well worth the 99 cents. Please consider more storylines for this cozy little world.
A shortcut thru a cemetery, who knew that it would open up a whole new world. A world filled with werewolves, witches, vampires, dwarves, elves and gargoyles. And that I was a Spell Master.
I really enjoyed this unusual story of the other side. Lots of mystery, good plot, many surprises. Only had one problem when one of the characters is changed its one thing in the one book, in the next, its different.
The end to the series and the final showdown between Suzy and Night Shadow. This was such a good book and a great way to finish this series. I loved it.
This was a fabulous series written by Lori Woods who has a very different look on witches and other magical creatures and how they should be seen and behave. Also she puts in great moral standards that you don't see until you finish the book.
