Rate this book
In this tour de force , the author offers a comprehensive introduction to the study of Q, the collection of Jesus' sayings long hypothesized as the source for the canonical gospels of Matthew and Luke. Part I deals with the methods for studying Q, their presuppositions, and a survey of current research. This book begins with an well written introduction into the theory of "Q".

I wish I would have stopped at the introduction and then skipped to the epilogue because the rest got out of hand.

The foundation of the theory is speculation and the rest is incredible speculation piled on top of incredible speculation.

Scholarship of the first water. Required reading for anyone genuinely interested in Synoptic Gospel formation and history of New Testament historical criticism and the vagaries of the theological uses
and misuses of New Testament studies.
