"I just want an easy life, even as some rich person's dog…"

As corporate slave Routa Okami keels over in the middle of his busy office, he imagines how nice it would have been to live as the pet of some rich family instead of working himself to death. But when a goddess actually grants that wish and brings him back to life as a pampered pooch, Routa realizes he may have gotten more than he bargained for…

I usually try to avoid manga adaptations of material I have not read -- a Japanese light novel in this case -- but the stupidly long title and large doggy on the cover finally wore me down after giving this book the pass many, many times at the library. And what a delightful surprise it turned out to be.

A Japanese salaryman, Routa Okami, dies from overwork at the office, and his last wish is to be reincarnated into an easy life, like the pampered pooch of a rich person. And out of nowhere a goddess shows up and makes his dream come true! Routa awakens as a puppy in a magical fantasy world, is quickly adopted by a rich girl, and leads a spoiled life which includes a personal chef committed to serving him the most delicious dishes.

And while Routa longs to be the ultimate slacker, he finds himself growing to a huge size and hunted by goblins, targeted by a knight for slaying as a monster, recruited by a wolf pack to lead them in the massacre of all humans, and forced to hunt a giant feral pig. When's a dog supposed to find time to eat and nap? And what if all these hijinks makes his owner reconsider him as a pet?

Humorous and fun with lots of cute doggy pictures. (And the back-up text story proves this just does not work without the cute doggy pictures. I have no desire to read the original novel.)

p.s., It all went over my head, but apparently there are a lot of references to Japanese anime, especially Gundam.

This was super cute. Another isekai set up with a office employee who dies of exhaustion (a really dark theme we see too much of right now) who wishes to be come back in his next life as a pampered dog. Well, it happens. He's not exactly a regular dog, though he tries his hardest to maintain the cute puppy persona as a giant, magical wolf that shoots beams of light out of its mouth.
I'm enjoying the manga so far, though I've heard that the light novel doesn't translate the humor as well. I'll check that one out as well.

This was so cute! It reminds me a bit (just a bit) of “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime”. The art is nice, if nothing exemplary, and the story was quite cute. It’s funny and sweet as well. I liked Routa, Mary, and Hecate. I felt bad for Zenobia. The cook was great! Overall, I’d recommend this manga. I’ll likely read volume two. 3.75 stars.

Dear employees, thank you for your continued diligence to work till you drop.

For the first time I actually read the light novel before I had a chance to read the manga and although (as usual) you miss out on some of the flavor and context of the story this was still a good adaptation of the story up to a point when meaning we are ready for the conclusion of the first light novel in the 2nd manga if I am guessing correctly. In fact the only real problem I had with the manga visualization is how the wolf/dog Routa was often depicted very generic and Super Deformed looking more like a Pomeranian then a wolf. Alas there is only so much you can convey as a canine I guess (though some of the closeups later did a pretty good job considering his snout magically disappears for a snub nose.) All in all by time I got to the end of the book the annoyance faded into acceptance as other wolves join the party and Routa is able to actually be able to communicate as opposed to humans just believing they know what is on his mind (Mary is pretty insightful.)

That said the premise of the tale is one I can relate to sometimes though work is not nearly as bad in the states as it can be in Japan as corporate lackey Routa Okami works so hard he actually dies. In his last moments of regret he makes a wish if he is to be reincarnated he wants an easy life like a papered pooch for a rich family. Suddenly a goddess hearing his wish gives him just such a chance but as Routa and a few others note he is not a normal puppy as he soon grows as tall as a human within a month. Now realizing the goddess that granted him this life for some reason gave him all sorts of add-ons like phone with all sorts of built in apps that you can't remove. However hard Routa wants to slack all day and play with Lady Mary it seems with new found powers comes a responsibility and a crazy life as he makes new friends and allies. Darn it goddess, he wanted to be a papered pooch not a mystical super beast. :)

The premise is kind of interesting: as the owner of a pampered dog, I can understand the appeal of being reincarnated as a spoiled pet. There's a twist, of course: the main character isn't just any dog, he's a huge and powerful magical wolf. The art is pretty good, especially of the dog, and the fanservice is on the light side. Of course, that just makes it all the more jarring when there's a gratuitous panty shot of the young girl who owns the dog. The story just didn't quite deliver for me, unfortunately.

Overworked employee Routa dies on the job, asks to be reincarnated as a pampered pooch, and wakes up as a giant wolf dog with powers.

This is a cute isekai story. I like the twist that he's not just an adorable puppy but can shoot some sort of death ray and appears to be the ruler of the fen wolves. I don't think I'll continue in the series, but I'm continually amazed at how creative manga writers can be.

Definitely a different take on things

Unique reincarnation story, but other than comedic elements thus far I'm not sure if this one has legs yet. I'll at least hold out for the next volume though.

Yup pretty much exactly what you'd expect. No fanservice really though which is nice

Routa dies and wakes up in a fantasy world as a dog...almost. It becomes the pet of a noblewoman, but Routa is not a simple dog. He is Fenrir, a powerful beast who ends up gaining followers when all he is trying to do is be lazy and play with his owner.

This volume had so many scenes where I couldn't stop myself from laughing, and I'm curious to see what Routa's next adventures will be.

This manga is about as mid as it gets, however I found it rather charming with the silly pop culture references, flirtatious hints of interspecies romance and weird perilous fantasy. Curious as to the origin of the story being a light novel then adapted into a manga. I haven’t seen that before.
