History, mystery, contemporary romance and magic...

"Sophisticated and thought-provoking
...an urban fairy tale for grown ups."
Avid Ashley

It is midnight, and you are sleeping.
I am here at the table with a candle at my elbow, penning the most difficult letter I have ever had to write.
They are coming for me. Samuel Withers saw them in the village …

ENGLAND 1767
Edward Lillibridge is writing a farewell letter to his son. The controversial author faces trial for heresy after revealing, in a book, the true beginnings of money.

FAST-FORWARD TO 2008
...six months before the Global Financial Crisis rocks the economy. Lillibridge's Our True Ancient History (published under the guise of fiction) is out-of-print, available only at antiquarian bookshops and largely overlooked.
Until now.

Rosetta Melki, an idealist whose hope of starting a worldwide charity has been crushed by her sole-parent struggles, is enchanted by Our True Ancient History. Lillibridge's tale about a gold-obsessed kingdom (and the sprites they enslave: elfin clan dwellers whose currency of choice is kindness) has ignited a memory Rosetta cannot explain.

Rosettta's website surrounding the reading group she's begun with friends has inspired the emergence of other Lillibridge book clubs. Her own Sydney group meets fortnightly at a vintage bungalow, the rental home she secured to escape a gruesome intruder.

In a more affluent part of Sydney, finance executive Matthew Weissler (polished, successful, admired) has been questioning his slave-to-the-dollar existence and his marriage to a tantrum-throwing shopaholic. And now he's questioning his sanity after finding he's been followed by an elf.

Rosetta’s intruder still lurks in the shadows, but who could the stranger be? A prowler from the suburb Rosetta and her teenaged daughter fled...or a traveller from the past, determined to suppress an ancient memory that will change the world forever?

The first thing that struck me about Terry’s debut novel was her seemingly effortless ability to entwine the contemporary and historical aspects ... At times the writing is nothing short of spellbinding, something that is rare these days, and even rarer at the beginning of a literary career.

Epiphany is actually two novels, 'The Golding' and 'The Silvering' in one volume, and I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised, both by the quality of writing and by the originality of the plot itself.

It's been ages since I've come across a book like this, one quite different from the normal offerings in the fantasy genre. The premise is unique and intriguing, and the plot unpredictable in a pleasant way, winding the past with the present, reality with fantasy, and fiction with fact. The characters were nicely three-dimensional and I found myself actually caring about what happened to them.

This is light reading, folks, not requiring any heavy intellectual lifting. But it is entertaining, well-crafted, and well-edited. And there is a nice love story in there! Worth your time.

Epiphany is the complete story in one book by Sonya Deanna Terry. Having previously read and bought book 1 The Golding it was nice to read the second part and discover how this enchanting tale ends.

After the cliff hanger from book one I liked how this was a collection, it flowed straight into the next, due to this the reader didn't have to wait to purchase the second. The plot wasn't rushed and slowly unfurled as the reader went along. To understand the first the books need to be read in sequence.

We meet back with Rosetta and her book club, by accident however the group get caught up in a quest for The Silvering: an epoch that is rumoured to happen in 2019. The group continue reading Edward Lillibridge's Georgian-era. The characters were once again well written and extremely relatable. All in all this book was just as good as the first and highly recommended.

Wow this book went off the tracks and crashed. It starts out with an interest in tarot and enlightenment and wealth distribution, but descends into romantic mush.
SPOILERS AHEAD.
The supposed tarot reader, Rosetta, never once does a reading, or even talk about tarot reading after being introduced as a tarot reader. Instead it turns out to be pages and pages about her clothes, her hair, her romances, her friends' romances.
The story of the elves goes nowhere, you can just feel the lack of interest and inspiration of the author. So she decides to get back to the gooey sickening romance.
I bought this book because it was on a list of "Buddhist fiction", man was that list ever wrong; and because my fellow Goodreads readers recommended it with bunches of stars (really?)
Hated it. Do not recommend it. Save your money.

Have you ever wished that the stories you read would be true? Well, that is exactly what happens to Rosetta when she starts reading a book for the local book club. The historical tale it weaves turns out to be true in all sense of the word even if it appears to be too fantastical. Complete with Ancients, and time-traveling Elves that sound more like they have taken a clue from Cupid and his matchmaking, this book turned out to be a fun filled fantasy with intrigue, mystery and a sprinkling of romance to top it all off. I did not think that this book was just another fantasy romance, the author was able to think of a unique twist on the genre and kept me guessing about what would happen next. I certainly had fun reading this book and will be looking for the next book from this author.

Epiphany: The Complete Award-Winning Series by Sonya Deanna Terry is truly a book within a story. Not only is it a book within a story but is two parts, The Golding and The Silvering. A unique tale that captures themes like love and romance, magical elements, money of course, family issues, and always popular, betrayal. All of these elements coalesce together to make a cohesive story, and what at first may appear to be an overwhelming undertaking in beginning to read this, actually turns out quite well. The descriptions are well thought out with great attention to detail, in particular Rosetta's house seems so appealing and comfortable, with all of her possessions strewn about. Rosetta's relationship with her daughter is also realistically portrayed as complicated, which is accurate and believable. When Rosetta begins to read Our True Ancient History, she has no idea about the enormity of the tale in which she is about to be immersed. The book she reads is itself mystifying what with the Dream Sphere and the Elysium Glades depicted as a poor substitute. A lofty project, the author Terry has succeeded in writing an entrancing fantasy world. Highly recommend.
