Flubber was a childhood favorite of mine. Before I discovered Mork & Mindy, it was my favorite thing the late, great Robin Williams ever did, even more so than Aladdin. I haven't seen even any scenes from the movie in years, but repeated viewings as a kid have cemented certain scenes in my mind.
So, when I saw this novelization at a local thrift store, I thought: Why not pick it up? After all, such a book is probably long out of print by now! I read it today...and I was rather disappointed. Though the writing was decent, a lot of key elements--such as the kid who was repeatedly frightened by what he saw out his window, as well as Webette, the clone/daughter of Weebo--were missing. This may sound strange, coming from someone who is both an avid reader and a library employee, but...the movie was better; stick with the film.
Robin Williams one of the greats! This book is amazing. As a 34 year old sometimes you have to break away from all the crap that is out there and go back to a time where life was pretty great. I obviously read this very fast but the writing is fantastic. Cried about Weebo gosh that was hard. Going to have my kids read it next!
