Wounded Dance

Rate this book
I used to live in secret.

Then I walked onto a TV reality show and made a spectacle that went viral.

I did it for Blitz.
To keep him.

But the risk was too much.
I was seen by my enemy.
A boy I once loved.
The father of my secret child.

He’s spent years trying to find me, and now he’s at Dreamcatcher Dance Academy.

He’s going to find our baby, he says. The adoption wasn’t legal since he didn’t know.

He has no idea how close our little girl really is. That I secretly teach her ballet.

And no matter how much Blitz wants to protect me from the threat this man poses to our happy life, there’s one fact I have to face.

My past has caught up with me, and everything I love is in peril.

If I know nothing else about a Deanna Roy book, I know that she will take my heart on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride that will shred it beyond compare and remake it so beautifully in so many ways. I will feel way more than I ever thought possible and find a version of myself that I never knew I was capable of becoming. She never fails to offer me renewed hope, unwavering light, and unfettered possibility. Her stories are spectacular miracles brought to life through a beautiful spirit and a stunning heart.

Wounded Dance is a wondrous labor of pure, unadulterated love that will spark a deep appreciation of how hard and yet how so totally worth the hellish battles are when it’s all said and done. The best love comes from the hardest and the harshest circumstances that life throws at us. It shows us that is it worth anything and everything that we have to endure and hold fast against. It is worth simply everything. This story is absolutely breathtaking with its wonderful intensity and all of its delicious twist and turns that never fail to take you by surprise.

Deanne is one of the most wickedly talented and huge hearted authors that will reach into the very depths of your soul and never leave you the save ever again. She is a marvelous person and a wonderful author that will make you see the world through very different eyes which will change your life, your heart, and your world.

This is the continuation from Forbidden Dance and some of your questions will be answered.
Deanna Roy does it again giving the reader a further glimpse into Livia and Blitz's world. At the end of book one the baby daddy shows up and surprised Livia. This book is how that encounter goes and an explanation as to how Livia got pregnant at 15 and why her father did what he did. There were a few unanswered questions after reading this book. Unlike other readers after the first book I was not surprised by what Livia's father did when she became pregnant and now that there is even more information it further clarifies, not justifies, why he did what he did. I'm not agreeing with it but I'm not surprised.
In this story Blitz is Livia's support person. She is coming to terms with the shock the baby daddy tells her and the realization that the shame she has felt for the past four years need not have happened to the extent it did. It is wonderful back history that explains who the girl is today and why she is that way. It also gives Livia a chance to deal with her feeling concerning Denham and the baby, his leaving and her life after the incident.
Denham's character is one who initially you may feel sorry for but than is move after the courthouse makes you want to slap him upside his head and congratulate Livia that she didn't stay with him.
While I loath the father in this story I still have mixed feelings about Livia's mother and this book didn't help me with how I feel about her.
I can't wait for the next book to see where Blitz and Livia end up and how they continue to grow together as a couple facing obstacles from each other's past while trying to build a future.
Kudos Deanna another well written story that will keep your readers coming back for more.
I received this book in return for an honest voluntary review.

Fantastic story of love and dance.
Although each book in The Lovers Dance series can be read as a stand-a-lone, Wounded Dance starts right where Forbidden Dance ended at Benjamin and Livia’s Happily For Now (HFN), and at that point, Denham Young, Livia’s first love has come looking for her. He has important life altering news for her, and in the altercation, Ben inadvertently admits there was a baby, and now Denham wants to find her.

The relationship between our two dancers grows stronger, even in the face of the animosity and determination of Denham to find the whereabouts of his daughter. In fact, his life hasn’t been easy since Livia’s father threw him out of their home, and I do, for only a moment, feel sorry for him, even as he wreaks havoc on the lives of Ben, Livia, Danika and the others at the Dreamcatcher Dance Academy. He is, however, selfish and unaccepting of how the cost of his actions impacts on others.

We learn of Livia’s relationship with her adopted daughter’s father, and just how deep the feelings of their love, and guilt, went. Unfortunately though, it was always doomed to fail, and the cost was high. We also get to see just how far off his rocker her father really is, and finally, as Livia fights to protect her daughters’ privacy, she begins to realise her own strength of character, at last seeing her father for the controlling bully that he is.

Forbidden Dance is another beautifully written story from Deanna Roy, where love and loyalty thrive in the small and safe dance environment provided by Danika and her team of dance teachers. Ben and Livia realise that there are people who will gather round and stand with them.

At the heart of it all, is the question, just what will Denham’s determination to find his daughter cost them all?

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 4.5 Stars.

"Wounded Dance", brings us back to Livia and Benjamin, post dramatic ending to Benjamin(Blitz) reality dance show , similar to the bachelor. The couple returns to SanAntonio and Dreamcatcher Acadamy trying to stay out of the limelight and spend time with Livia's little girl without anyone finding out that Gabriella is really her daughter. However when things seems to be going well something always seems to get in the way and this time it's the ou from the past.
Denham Young shows up at Dreamcatcher studios after seeing Livia on national Tv, he was able to tracks her location through the social media storm that followed her and Blitz, he came to see Livia , to tell her the truth he has found out , that heirs other brother, that he loved her and still does . Denham showing up forces Livia to reveal to Blitz more of her teen years, her relationship with Denham. Will the public and paparazzi get a hold of Livia's private life, and make Blitz and hers privacy harder to guard? Secrets abound and become exposed, but Blitz and Livia only grow closer.

Did you like Forbidden Dance? Did it leave you needing more info on baby daddy and what really happened to Livia 4 years ago? Now you get it all. Romance between Blitz and Livia blooms, but her past comes to haunt her. I really loved the story of first love, even if she was so young. I loved Blitz in this hard situation. I really need next book like now an more dancing of them together. I also hope, that the mother will finally make it as it should be between mother and daughter (even though she should have so long ago, I was really appaled by the way she acted during child's delivery). SO many emotions. Must read it!

Just when Livia and Blitz are settling into their happily-ever-after, the ghosts of the past come back to threaten their future. This time it isn't bad boy Blitz, but Livia who must confront her mistakes in order to protect the ones she loves. The truth can destroy them, or finally set them all free.

ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING !!!
Title: The Enemy (Originally titled Wounded Dance)
Series: Lovers Dance
Author: Deanna Roy writing as J.J. Knight
Designation: Book 2 of 4 Book Series, Short Novel(170 pages), Can Be Read As A Standalone, HFN Ending
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: FIVE CAPTIVATING STARS*****
**This book was originally published as Wounded Dance by Deanna Roy, the second release in a four-book series entitled Lovers Dance. It has since been re-released as The Enemy, the second of four books in the newly re-titled Blitzed Series. There have been no changes to the content. Although this book can be read as a standalone with a happy-for-now ending, I highly recommend reading the entire series since all four books chronicle the relationship journey of beautiful newbie ballerina Livia Mason and handsome, charismatic reality television dance star Blitz Craven aka Benjamin Castillo.

Oh my, oh my, oh my! I LOVE this book! I adore contemporary romance and completely infatuated with stories featuring dance, but combine the two and I'm in heaven, and Deanna Roy/J.J. Knight just delivered the perfect combination of both! I became a Deanna Roy fan several years ago after first reading her heartwarming Forever Series and became even more entranced with her work after discovering her alter-egos, JJ Knight and Annie Winters. As JJ Knight/Deanna Roy, she pens spicy and emotionally gripping Contemporary New Adult Romance and as Annie Winters, she writes riveting and sexy Contemporary Romantic Suspense. I developed a complete addiction to her Vigilante Series co-written with Tony West under her Annie Winters pen name. I love Knight's comfortable, easy-to-follow style and sweet, sultry prose. There's nothing better than curling up in my favorite chair with a glass of wine and brand new book by J.J. Knight/Deanna Roy! And no one writes what I like to call 'Dance Romance' like Deanna Roy. I discovered this firsthand after reading The Billionaire, a delightful standalone Contemporary Billionaire Friends to Lovers romance originally released as The Billionaire's Ballet and later retitled again as Dreamcatcher's Dance, which is actually the prequel to this series where we meet several of the characters in this book. But don't fret, as I said, it's also a standalone and can be read later.

But as usual I digress, so let's talk about this book. The Enemy is a captivating, fast-paced, and exceptionally well-crafted and edited contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone. It does NOT end in a cliffhanger but has what I like to call a happy-for-now ending. However, there will be two more books in Blitz and Livia's story and you better believe I've already ordered my copy of each. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with a single perspective from the female protagonist, Livia Mason. The dialogue is smart, well-executed, easy to follow and flows effortlessly. I loved the premise and world Roy developed for this story and they were all extraordinary but it's the cast of realistic, relatable, engaging and very endearing characters who completely steal the show along with my heart. I was immediately drawn into this story by the sweet, innocent and very naive Livia Mason, and I nearly swooned for our hero, handsome professional celebrity dancer Blitz Craven aka Benjamin Castillo. These two characters could not have been more different, yet they were perfect for each other. Their attraction was immediate, their interaction electric, their passion undeniable, and their chemistry was so hot it sizzled! *sigh* It's just so dreamy! Knight skillfully combines every one of these elements to craft a heartwarming story filled to the brim with heartbreaking drama, agonizing angst, sweet romance, and steamy sex. This is not erotic romance but it is sensual and somewhat explicit but in a very loving and caring way.

Premise for The Stranger, Book One of the series (formerly Forbidden Dance):
Nineteen-year-old Livia Mason loves two things in life. The first is dance which she started only two years ago, and the second is a secret, one so dark only her parents know, or at least they know part of it. But even they don't know everything and if they did, they'd never allow her to continue her ballet lessons at Dreamcatcher's Dance Academy. It's the reason Livia lost everything, and the reason her father felt compelled to leave his job, uproot his family and relocate them four years ago, moving away from everyone they knew... and it was all her fault. She was no longer allowed to have any friends nor any kind of social life. Her parents would not even allow her to attend public school. She had to settle for finishing her education through homeschooling, but hopefully this year she would be able to take her SAT. She wasn't even allowed to have a phone and all her actions were monitored closely by her very strict parents. But despite the shadow of her past mistake, her life was finally beginning to fall into place... until he showed up at the Dreamcatcher's Dance Academy... Benjamin Castillo aka Blitz Craven, playboy, man-whore extraordinaire, and star of his very own reality TV dance show Dance Blitz. He's only at Dreamcatcher's to garner some good publicity, repair his damaged reputation, get his career back on track and reclaim his show. But with one kiss and one simple dance, everything has changed. He says he wants her, but does he really care for her? He claims he wants her to be with him, but does he love her? Why would a handsome celebrity like Blitz with a reputation for being quite a Don Juan with the ladies want someone like her, a sheltered naive nineteen-year-old woman with no worldly experience, who is slowly being suffocated by her restrictive overbearing parents? A man like Blitz Craven could have any woman he desired, and has, so is this just another ploy to add her name to his long list of conquests and public indiscretions? Can Livia afford to trust Blitz with her heart? But more importantly, can she trust him with her secret? We'll see! Oh my! This one will definitely tug at your heartstrings!

Our story for The Enemy resumes shortly after Livia's dramatic rescue of Blitz on the live season finale of Dance Blitz. Livia sacrificed much to save Blitz from himself, but it appears the lovestruck couple may have weathered the storm and will finally get their happy ending... until Livia's past comes back to haunt her. A ghost from Livia's former life makes an unexpected and very unwelcome appearance, wreaking havoc and revealing long-buried secrets and sadly, it may cost her everything, including her happy new life and the people she loves most. Will Blitz stand by Livia once he knows her darkest secret? We'll see! Oh my! Better get a box of tissues, folks; this one is a real tearjerker as Knight finally reveals Livia's darkest secret.

Did I like this book? No, I loved it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I've already ordered the remaining books in this series. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I snickered, snorted, snuffled, sniffed and sobbed throughout the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

The Enemy????

Sometimes I wonder how an author comes up with their titles. Denham is portrayed as the enemy when in reality he is a troubled messed up kids. He just wants to let Livia know a truth she really needs to hear. Only he gets to learn a secret and handles things poorly. A drawn out mess! Proofreading was fine, no cheating or cliffhanger. Yet.......the story will continue.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibraian – I Dig Good Books
This was a quick, fast-paced cute read. It was a fun read and one I wouldn’t mind reading again. It’s part of a series that I believe likely all tie in together with one another, but that is purely speculation, as I’ve not read any of the other stories in this series. I don’t feel like there was an absolute necessity to read those to understand this story though.
I absolutely adored the love story in this book. What was so unique about this story is that the male character was the one chasing after the female character and was the one expressing his feelings. There are not many stories that have the man chasing and pining after the love interest. More often than not it’s the female and it’s so cliché. I absolutely applaud the author for the way that she wrote their relationship. Thank you for not writing another story where the female grovels!
Details and descriptions were on par for the length of the story. There wasn’t too much or too little. It painted the picture that needed painting and set the scene. The characters were fun and real. They were honest and their emotions were heart-warming.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. There was drama, there was love, there was romance, and there was humor. The story line was anything but boring and the story flowed very well. I’d definitely recommend reading this story.

*A Copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

I've been sitting on this book for a long time. I'd picked it up several times read the first few pages and then put it back away, something just didn't feel as good as the first book. I finally decided I was just going to read it because the first few pages were unlikely to set the tone for the entire book. I was wrong.

The actual story in Wounded Dance wasn't bad, it was interesting and somewhat sordid and held a ton of potential. It was the writing I had a hard time with. It felt very bland, very unemotional, and there were times parts of the story that seemed to only be included to fill a word count, even after I finished reading the book I can't figure out why they were included in this book. My only guess is those scenes were a set-up for the next book.

Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the stale writing, there were some deeply emotional moments Livia relived in the pages. It was nice to get that insight as to what had happened when she was fifteen and pregnant. I also appreciated the juxtaposition between Blitz and the other men she'd had in her life. Those scenes, those intense moments were what kept me reading the book.

I'd hoped for more, I wish the emotional journey that Livia went through in this book was more vividly displayed in the writing. I am glad that I finally know what happened in Livia's past, but I doubt I'll be picking up the next book in the series, as the questions I desperately needed answered have been.

I originally read this story, titled Wounded Dance, under JJ's other pen name, Deanna Roy.

The Enemy/Wounded Dance continues the love story between Livia, our previously sheltered heroine, and Blitz Craven, our former reality tv dancing sensation hero. With Blitz's love and support, Livia has broken free of the house arrest her parents have had her in for the past 5 years, after learning she got pregnant. In this story, we find out who the baby daddy is, the story of how they met, and why their relationship should have been taboo. After finding out Livia was no longer innocent, her father forced the baby daddy out of her life, and he had no idea he was a dad, until he tracked Livia down after she appeared on television.

I really enjoyed this second book and seeing how Livia and Blitz's romance continued to grow, and how protective he was for not only LIvia but her daughter as well. Because her ex wanted to find their child, he also threatened Livia's ability to interact with her daughter since the adoptive mother is unaware of the deeper relationship LIvia shares to her daughter. I can't wait to see how the entire story wraps up!

DISCLAIMER: I received an ARC of this book for honest review. Thank you so much to the author for reaching out to me!

Oh my gosh! The story continues (to a degree?) as we follow Livia and Blitz further into their relationship. The dad of Livia's little girl is . . . sheesh! I do not know if I could have handled that scenario! And while dating top, HOT-shot dancing star?! I can't even think of it! I do wonder about can really be thought as stand-alone. If the story is technically a follow-up, and the books should be read in series order . . . In any case, still fantastic and a wonderful story. Hot story. *grins*

I don't think I can add anything more. I do want to quickly apologize to Deanna for not getting my review up sooner. The month of April took a bit of a weird turn and I also had just moved, was still readjusting to change. But I so loved having the chance to move forward with this series and the characters.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. From the moment I started reading I was sucked into Livia and Blitz's world. At times I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I was happy for Livia and Blitz. Then I was sad for the things in the past that Livia had to relive. At times I felt bad for the baby daddy and then others I was just plain angry with him. I love the chemistry between Livia and Blitz. Their personalities complement each other. Reading about the things they've been through in this book makes me believe that they'll have a strong relationship that'll last through the good and bad.

This was another well written book by Mrs. JJ Knight and I would recommend reading it. The book ended on a happy note and without the huge cliffhanger like the first one. I definitely look forward to reading the next book in this series and seeing where Livia and Blitz's story takes us.

Happy...

...with this story. Answered questions I had from first story.
Didn’t believe he would just leave Daughter, wheelchair or no.
The other puzzling thing is why the show didn’t automatically require they get married, etc. just like the former contestants would have. Why no talk of marriage?

Didn’t much care for Livia in this book. She seems really immature and causing a lot of her own drama. If it weren’t for Blitz keeping her together, I could easily see her falling for Denham all over again.

Book two of this series about Blitz and Livia. I am hooked into needing to know their story. They have found happiness in each other but what happens when someone important to Livia returns to her life? We learn a lot about Livia's past which really filled in a lot of the blanks. I so enjoy the connection between Blitz and Livia and their love for each other. Looking forward to more books about this couple.

Wounded Dance (#2) by Deanna Roy: ***** sooo good!!
A lot of surprises in this book! I loved seeing Livia stand up to her self riotous father. ;-). She finally learns to drive and We get the HOT story/history of Livia and Denham. Good ending! but looking forward to the next book. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

Second in this series and another good read. The story gains depth, there is drama, heartache, steam and romance. The main characters are honest and actually talk to each other. Worth the time spent.

Not that I didn’t enjoy the first book, Forbidden Dance, but I completely loved everything about Wounded Dance! Livia has changed so much in such a short period of time, showing a new confidence and maturity that she lacked at the start of the series. Her and Blitz are an absolutely dreamy couple and so in love, yet they are also both grounded and reasonable, paying attention to what each other needs and wants to build their relationship. This novel introduces us to Denham, a.k.a. baby daddy, Livia’s “first love,” and definitely a shock from the past. Without giving spoilers, Denham initially shows up out of the blue just to tell her something that he was wrong about. This is a BIG thing that he was wrong about, but I can’t tell! Anyway, during Livia’s shocking conversation with Denham, Blitz blurts something out about being the father of her baby, leaving Denham even more shocked that he has had a child out there all this time. This leads into the bulk of the conflict and drama of the novel.

I had mixed feelings about Denham and my opinion changed about him about every other page. There were times I felt bad for him and his upbringing, then I would think he was a snake. Then I would think that he had changed and truly wanted to see his child, but then I was convinced he was a loser. This flip flop of my emotions was based on his own actions, Livia’s hot and cold approach towards him, and definitely by the conclusion. Unfortunately, this novel also brings back Livia’s parents in small appearances, and her Dad is still as horrible as before.

I am captivated by Blitz and Livia’s story and this has quickly jumped to one of my favorite contemporary romance series. Deanna Roy has a flawless, yet personal writing style leaving the reader no choice but to become quickly addicted to the story and the characters. I highly recommend Wounded Dance, but also suggest starting with Forbidden Dance just so you will understand what Livia has endured while growing up and how much she and Blitz have changed. I cannot wait to read book 3, Wicked Dance!

Many thanks to Deanna Roy for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The suspense of finding out who Livia was entangled with keeps you furiously flipping to the next page! The build up is epic and well placed in the story line. There are ups and downs in this installment which shows her coming to terms with her past and how to handle her future. If you didn't love Benjamin at the end of book one, you will be fully in the Blitz camp by chapter three! An amazing story that keeps you begging for more!!!!

This book was another amazing read full of heartache, love and this time tells Livia's history. Blitz's actions in this story were those of a real hero, he was a gentleman and listened wholeheartedly to Livia tell her story and he supported her through her pain. Loved every minute of it, and again, could not put this book down!
"This is what we need. To regroup, recenter, reconnnect. It doesn't matter who is against us."
"Blitz has always made my life easier and more fun. If the public really knew him, they would never have tried to burn him at the stake for one terrible Tweet."
"There was a promise in that kiss, a feeling that there was so much more. I wanted it all."

I received a copy from the author.

Wounded Dance is book 2 in this series and must be read after Forbidden Dance. Wounded Dance takes the reader into the background of Livia and who the father of her daughter is. While she deals with his return, Blitz is there for her in what ever way she needs him to be. I enjoyed reading about Livia's backstory and it was something I missed in the first book. It was a lot easier to understand her predicament and the fall out of her surprise pregnancy. This book was a fast pace, drama filled story about one's past brought to the present and the consequences of keeping a secret. I'm looking forward to reading book three, which will apparently be based in Blitz's star-filled life and the fall out of choosing Livia as his partner for dance and life.

You will love this book every bit as you did forbidden dance. Olivia and Blitz continue to overcome life's hurdles together which just helps strengthen their relationship. As her past mistakes catch up to her you see her growth into adulthood. Such a great story. Can't wait for the next book in this series.
