An Amazon Top 20 Bestseller returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about when happens when you take a chance on love.

When the bottom finally falls out of rock bottom and she's given an eviction notice for her one-bedroom walk-up in the city, Tressa Torrado lands at the first place that'll have her, which also happens to be the last place she'd expect to find herself. With the dark and dominant presence of Bastien looming, Tressa is forced to find her way back to life just when it all seems to be in shambles.

Bastien Castaneda may have picked up all her broken pieces, but Tressa refuses to be handled like a princess, her wise-cracking mouth getting her in trouble about as much as the long and lingering looks that pass forbiddingly between them. But it isn't long before explosive secrets simmer to the surface and threaten to torch the very foundations of this rebel love story.

“You and I were always poetry, captivating sweet, and over far too soon.”

I love the forbidden romance troupe. I mean, who doesn’t? It’s always appealed to me, and when I saw Adriane Leigh was writing a taboo-ish forbidden romance I had to have it.

Tressa found herself at a very low point in her life. She ended up going to a place she found comfort in at one time. St. Michael’s church. Her old priest was no longer there. Now, Father Bastien is there. Bastien is younger, and much more attractive than the previous priest. And even though there shouldn’t be, there is a connection and some major chemistry between Bastien and Tressa.
“I’ve found myself at a bit of an impasse, my dove. See, I can’t lose you, but I can’t keep you either.”

Tressa and Bastien were both easy characters to love. Bastien’s heart was so big and he was truly a beautiful soul. What I loved most about their romance was it wasn’t just a blasé tryst. What they shared was so much more than that. It was something they knew was wrong, but how could love like that not be right?

This book was so beautifully written. It was lyrical, gorgeous, and the writing was incredible. The sexual tension was to die for and I loved both the main characters. Towards the end there was a twist I didn’t see coming and it shook me a bit. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. If you’re looking for something forbidden, with a delicious slow burn, and complex characters, pick this one up!!!

Presiding at St. Michael’s church, Father Bastien Castaneda is dedicated to his parishioners and has a loyal following. Handsome and full of heart, Bastien accepts those in need, and when Tressa Torrado arrives at the church, he finds more than he could have imagined.

“I can assure you, little dove, I’m nothing if not untraditional.”

Working side by side, Bastien and Tressa share a close rapport and a deep forbidden attraction. Though Bastien isn’t your typical priest, there are layers that define him and his faith. Tressa is young but her experiences have made her question morality and hone her instincts. However, Bastien and Tressa choose a path where boundaries are breached and the consequences are great.

“I’ve been dreaming of that look on your face,” Bastien breathed in my ear. “That soft blush that says you just came beneath my fingertips.”

Told in two parts, the illicit aspect of their relationship is brewing from the beginning. Wanting to see how far Bastien and Tressa would push their boundaries and how it would morally affect them intrigued me. Though there were times when I had to re-read some parts to be sure certain of actions, the narrative otherwise flowed well by balancing romance elements with a secondary plot.

In this story, both characters have to reconcile their own issues. While Bastien seems more adept, it doesn’t make it easier for him. Together, they forge their own way but it isn’t a seamless journey and this adds a realistic element, which I liked.

Rebel Saint is a taboo romance that explores choices that surround faith and love.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:
(3.75 stars)

Desperation forced Tressa Torrado to the steps of St. Michael‘s church. Lost both physically and spiritually, she found refuge under Father Bastien Castaneda’s compassion. But as she integrated herself into a new life, forbidden attractions could possibly derail both of their futures.

Forbidden romance has always been one of my favorite tropes. Put in a priest in the mix, it became irresistible for me.

“How can I fight your God when he is not mine? Filled with more vengeance than redemption, more retribution than forgiveness? You know what I think? I think to love is to die a little, to not love is to exist a lifetime in purgatory.”

Bastien was subtly sexy with his own brand of sensuality. I liked how he genuinely loved the path he chose. I also liked Tressa with her receptiveness and adaptability to unfamiliar situations. I thought their dynamic was interesting with how they perceived the dilemma they were in. I liked both of them together but also wished for more intensity in both emotionally and sexually.

“Every fiber of my being is begging me to pull you into that confessional, and every fiber of your being here tells me you want me to.”

I enjoyed the overall storyline but there were times I found it confusing to distinguish what was actually happening due to liberal usage of metaphorical proses. I also felt there were some points that were brought up but never really addressed/resolved.

Rebel Saint is a story of love and responsibility. It would appeal to readers who enjoy forbidden romance.

YES! Oh my. I can not put into words how much I loved this. I gobbled every word written and didn't put it down until I finished. Bastien and Tressa stole my heart, demolished it, and put it back together with their love.

Rebel Saint is about as forbidden as you are probably thinking right now - no need to sugarcoat this fact. And YES I saw THAT 80's series you are probably thinking about when reading the plot. I saw it when it first aired... (yeah I am old enough #insert_eyeroll) and it took me a moment to shake the image of that actor that I never liked and my mother loved. In fact, I hated that series and it was probably one of the reasons I started craving HEA.
#sigh

When I first saw this gorgeous cover I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame but I wasn't sure about the plot (see above reasons) BUT Thank you for this novel - because ones I was able to shake that face of this actor this book worked its magic.

Forbidden Romances are touch and go for me but this one is really on the GO side of things.
So if you like the blurb give it a try I am pretty sure you will love it#sigh

Having really conflicted feelings on this story. Although different enough, I definitely felt vibes from the long ago Thorn Birds classic. My basic complaint is that I just didn't feel the connection (other than lust) between Father Bastien and his "little dove" (and I despise that little term of endearment). At least Father Ralph used Meggie's name!

The writing was solid -- the plot a long and winding road -- and I loved Luce in the role as best friend. And I did appreciate the intrigue and eventual decision in the end. But I just thought it was a case of coulda, shoulda, woulda -- but wasn't for me.

***4 ‘I Know I Cannot Live Without My Soul’ Stars***

I saw the title and that the was going to be a taboo romance and I made grabby hands instantly, because we all know how much I love me some taboo, and I really enjoyed this book. The inner turmoil that Tressa and Bastian were dealing with because of the attraction was my kind of crack and the connection they had outside of the physical kept me turning the pages until the very end.

I loved Tressa and Bastian. Both are very good people who have a healthy respect for ‘Faith’ just different ways of looking at it. Tressa has had it rough, but there remains this goodness in her that draws you in. Bastian has always had a calling and he’s gone after it with everything in him. He’s kind and compassionate and forward thinking in how he can help those around him.

Their journey is a rough one, which I knew it would be, but it was interesting to see how they dealt with this connection they had that went far beyond lust and the physical (but let me tell you, they were all kinds of smexy!). They knew each other. They understood each other on a level that I don’t even think they totally understood. The issues that sprang up were not surprising, but as I said at the start of this review, their inner turmoil absolute fascinated me and I really liked how everything worked out for them

This is my first read by the author and it was an absolute winner for me. I thought the writing was engaging, I liked how she told their story and the twists and turns were very well done. Yes, there is a lot of talk of faith, belief and honoring your vow that goes on, but I never felt as if I was being preached to, it felt like having a casual and open dialogue with someone over dinner. As for the supporting cast of characters, I loved Lucy and I hope to see her again, as well as Carmelita and her brood, because they definitely left a mark!

Rebel Saint by Adriane Leigh is the story of Bastien Casteneda and Tressa Torrado.
Tressa has been hurt and let down by life, now at her lowest point in life. Tressa goes to St. Michael's Catholic Church where she has gotten comfort but when she goes there to find a new Priest, Father Bastien. Bastien gives her sanctuary but it doesn't take long before their growing feelings become more than they can ignore but can there be something between then in this taboo relationship?
Enjoyed their story.

Tressa finds herself homeless and in a bind. St Michaels has always been there for her and she finds herself there once again, but this time she is welcomed by Father Bastien. He is a holy man, a man that serves God and his people. Father Bastien can’t help the temptation that is in the form of Tressa. The chemistry is intense, how long can they fight it before they give into to temptation? How long can they hide their secret and how long before the guilt will be more than they can handle? What happens when the past mistakes tear down all the walls? Can Father Bastien give up his vows for Tressa or can he give her up to be the woman she needs to be? It seems Father Bastein is not the only priest who has been tempted by forbidden fruit. Is history repeating itself? Overall this was an enjoyable story and yes it did give me the feel of the Thornbirds series. A love forbidden, but the heart wants what it wants. Tressa was a strong character and in my head, I pictured Rachel Ward as the leading character. Father Bastein was in a perplexed position due to his faith and his love for her. Overall an enjoyable story.

I emptied into my very own holy grail, tasting life and touching God from the inside out.

Imma slut for forbidden romance and with a priest and a sinner is even better.

And this book is OK.

Too dramatic for me but I'm still OK whit that cuz' at the same times it's sensual as well.
But I couldn't adapt with author's way that she puts time n events into story.

Anyway. The other problem is I would like to read their story from the start. Not the point where they both feel attraction already. Also I just need a little more spicy, not soap opera.

I don't know how many times I read "rebel" and "his cocky grin"... His grin make no sense in this kind of dramatic tell.

I’m already damned, precious dove.

But fuck me if I didn't like when he punishes himself with a belt right after he cum with her name on his lips.

What a beautiful story between Tessa and Bastien. Though it’s a “forbidden” love story it never once felt that way. The purity of their hearts and the connection they shared was no where near taboo. Even when they struggled with that connection and their feelings due to Bastien’s position in the church and their deep rooted faith...I could still sense the honesty in their love. It may not have been allowed, but is surely was real in the eyes of God.

Their story was breathtaking and unlike previous taboo/forbidden love stories I’ve read before.

This is the first religious themed romance book that I’ve read so I went into it a little blind and anxious, not knowing what to expect. I was absolutely blown away by the depth and emotion throughout this book.

Bastien and Tressa’s love story is one of longing, heartbreak and loneliness. Through the devout commitment to his faith, Bastien knows he will never be able to give Tressa the life she so very much deserves, but he finds it harder and harder to let her go. Tressa is at war with herself, her heart in a huge battle with her mind, and she has to decide whether she’s willing to sacrifice her one true love to maintain her sanity. What will become of this couple, destined to be apart yet desperate to be together?

WOW!!! I cant tell you how much I loved this book! I finished it last night then turned the page for the little surprise and I was like 😱😱😱

It was beautifully written, from both POV’s, the emotions they experience so true and realistic that you are instantly at their mercy, begging for their outcome to be one of happiness and not pain. It gripped me in its firm hold and clung to me the whole way through, my heart swooned, cried, shattered and finally pieced back together again.

A huge 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first book by this author and I’m very impressed by the quality of the writing and editing. I wanted to read this book because I love priest love stories and loved The Thorn Birds mini-series as a child. That kind of forbidden, angsty love is always my favorite. In Rebel Saint, there are some really great concepts and I loved that the author clearly knows or researched Catholicism and told the religious aspects so intelligently.
As for the romance of it - it was clear it was forbidden, but it was missing the angst for me and I never really felt Bastien and Tressa’s connection to each other. Maybe partly because when the book opens they already have those feelings for each other, and the reader doesn’t get to witness their meeting each other and building those feelings. Their love scenes are just a step above fade to black so it was missing a hotness factor as well. There were some very romantic lines and themes, but I enjoyed those objectively rather than feeling them emotionally.
I also liked when the POV changed over to Bastien’s - the location, characters and this section also contained the most angst. It was a good ending that sets up another book if you choose to continue, which I think I will due to the aforementioned quality of the writing and my interest in where the author plans to take these characters.

GUYS! I don't even have words. None. Zero. Adriane killed me with angst and put me back together one piece at a time with this book.

This is one of those taboo reads that you can't help but fall completely in love with before you even start it. This novel was also one of those that because of recent events in the news, hits so much closer to home than expected.

I can also honestly say that when the twist hit at the climax of the book it legitimately knocked the breath from me. I re read the few pages before the twist a few times just to re-prepare myself for what was coming next.

Hint: It didn't help. I was still shook and this book still completely broke me.

But really this book was not only a story of two people calling in love and the battle they faced as a result, but it was a battle for each fo these characters individually with their beliefs and their self worth.

I have so many words and it is so hard to find them. If you love off the beaten path romances that fill you with love and angst, here ya go.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING could have prepared me to face this incredible story.

It’s almost impossible not to be addicted to this author's writing. A delicate prose that will wrap your heart around her words in such a way that you will forget all the books that came before.
Your book world will never be the same after meeting the enigmatic Bastien and his precious dove; Tressa. But I can assure you that you will never forget them. These characters will always have a special place in your heart.
A well deserved recognition for this author and the ability that she has to make you feel her words as if they were yours.
It may be a standalone, but it really felt like those old and thick books that with the very few pages you read, transported you to places you'd never imagine to reach.

I wish I can write more about the story but this is a book you have to take the time to savor it. What I can say is that this is one of the best forbidden romances I've read this year. If not EVER. Not only for the well constructed storyline or the unique characters; it's mainly because this author took the risk to turn a plot like this in something magnificent and exquisite.
It will definitely push your boundaries but at the end, it'll be all worth it.

I truly recommend it to anyone who wants a story to remember.

What an emotional roller coaster! Regardless of the taboo-ish relationship, and my inability to get sucked in for a little because I'm just burnt out I think, this one was written so beautifully I couldn't help but to fall in love with the characters and their fight to be together. Their struggles were ones I felt deep in my bones and at no point was I completely sure of what would happen. The twists blew my mind, and the fact that we'll be getting more was a pleasant surprise. Once it started moving, the heartfelt, gorgeous prose moved me, and was just a fantastic journey that each character had to take to get to where they ended up. It really made you think, and covered topics that were relevant to the subject at hand. This Author has a true gift of the written word and I hope she never stops writing!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!

Let's start by saying this book is extremely well written and the story was good. But I really couldn't relate to characters at all. I don't know if my brain wouldn't as it was a little too religious for me. I know what your thinking, I signed up and chose to read this but I wasn't expecting what I got. Although perhaps I did.

This is a taboo story at its best but it just wasn't for me. As I was reading it reminded me of my teens and the love that I had for a TV drama that was very much like this book. I will dare to name it. The Thorn Birds.

Perhaps on a different day and in a different lifetime, I would absolutely love this story but I just didn't love it enough. I do however recommend this book, as I feel people will absolutely love it. I have friends that would devour this kind of story.

A well-written story, one of love... the love between a man and a woman, but also the love of a priest for his community and his parishioners. I liked this book the storyline was interesting with the taboo aspect really piquing my curiosity, it had a few twists and turns I never saw coming and at times I was bought to tears. A good read and I would recommend to readers who like the taboo.

Rebel Saint by Adriane Leigh is the story of Bastien Casteneda and Tressa Torrado.
Bastien and Tressa's forbidden, fierce and taboo love story is extremely well written and beautifully maintained from start to finish. The main characters have this taboo and forbidden romance that is a slow burn but when it gets going, whoa- look out, cuz it's a steamy read !! The priest and a member of his church...oh yes, it is a very good story with all the angst, drama, twists, passion, heat and romance. Trust me, this is one beautiful and amazing book. I don't want to give any spoilers away but you don't want to miss out on this hot, sizzling and taboo love story.

My Sweet Dove

I was a little nervous starting this. With all the negativity towards the Catholic Church and rightfully so in some cases, I did want this to be a story bashing it to squeeze out a romance. I was able to quickly squash those nerves.

This is definitely a love story and one on many levels. People come in and out of our lives for a reason. We learn and grow from those reasons and experiences. Bastion and Tressa are meant to be and going along with them on their journey is eye-opening. I enjoyed not only their love story but those around them.

I quite enjoyed this forbidden love story, although there were times I was left confused because it wasn't clear if what was happening were mere thoughts or was happening indeed.
That didn't deter me from reading it and enjoy it.

I loved the characters and how they evolved.
Bastien, the priest, is undoubtedly a man of God. His vocation is ingrained in himself, making him the man he is. Tressa is a very smart and selfless woman, with a past haunting her daily but she's determined to get her life ahead and be happy.
Together they taste the sin of lust...

Rebel Saint is a story of pure redemption and happiness mixed with some angsty twists, that ends beautifully.

The beginning of this story was beautiful. Great job setting the scene and background to the story. I was thoroughly invested until they went separate ways and then came back together and the I was lost. So many unanswered questions.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Catholic touches and the leading characters were exceptional especially Bastien. I'm frustrated as I really was wanting more after such a stellar start.

6 Sinfully addictive stars!

This book, the story, was unlike any other I've read. It was addicting, captivating, forbidden, and oh. So. Good! So good that when I finished it, I was disappointed because I wanted more, I wanted to stay in this story and keep reading—that's how you know you have a winner!

It was my first religious themed romance story and I have to say, it was wonderful. The writing was beautiful, the characters were spot on and pulled you into their story. When they hurt, you hurt, when they swooned, you swooned, and there was A LOT to swoon over!

I could go on and on about this book, but I don't want to spoil anything. All I will say is this: when a story is written like this, when you can feel every single emotion falling off the page, that's how you know you have something special, and this was just that. You have to experience it for yourself to understand what I'm saying.

And for anyone who's unsure because of the religious aspect, let me tell you this... It doesn't overpower the story in anyway, it's not in your face, trying to make you believe or sway you in one direction. If anything, it really makes your mind think and wonder... Adriane knew exactly what she was doing with this story in every way and I can't applaud her enough for this one—and I'm not just saying that cause I adore her, but I do, I really do.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Wow—this book is a total gem! Hot, dirty, and sinfully good! This book was impossible to put down and feasibly one of the best books I’ve read. I wasn't expecting the turn this story just took; it has quite an unexpected surprise that is jaw-dropping good! Adraine Leigh you did it with this twisted taboo, steamy and suspenseful romance with deep and troubled characters. It has gruesome details; terrorists, bombings, mystery, intrigue, suspense, and erotic passion continue to keep you glued to the pages of this fascinating story. REBEL SAINT astounds me so much I actually had book intoxication—when a vow of celibacy collides with the fate of love. It is forbidden for a priest to betray the penitent for any reason—even love. The consequences: excommunication. Father Bastien Castaneda is Cuban, and he is one sexy priest that could make women worship him on their knees, but he is intriguing and the untouchable aspect made him alluring. Father Bastien heard everyone’s confession, but when Tressa Torrado came crashing into his life—this posed a whole set of new challenges for him that made him question his own faith. The chemistry and passion that Father Bastien and Tressa have for each other is explosive! Of course, there is more to the story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I assume if you are reading this, you want to know more about what happened and if Father Bastien was being true to himself and believed that all are deserving of God’s mercy. This is the first time I read a book by Adraine Leigh, but I assure you it will not be the last. Adraine Leigh presents one of the most unseemly “potential love” stories, with a slow burn, and takes you through so many heart wrenching emotions. There are soft, sweet moments, but there is no mistaking the skill applied to the arousing, gritty circumstances of this forbidden romance. There are several surprises and plot twists and turns within the story that makes it interesting. This taboo forbidden romance with gripping details and deep and troubled characters will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end. I highly recommend this book to those with an open and dirty mind.
