They call me Vigilante because I make my own laws. Because I get retribution when there’s none to be had. Because my name is Jace Mercy... but I show none. Stood up at the altar, I ran from everything familiar... and straight into trouble. Now I’m the lone witness to a backwoods execution. A wanted woman with a price on my head. I’m trapped in a cabin with the one man who can save me. I’m under his protection. I’m in his bed. But there’s a price to pay for his protection. Obedience. Surrender. Total submission. And there’s nowhere left to run…
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
Professionally written, fast-paced and gripping, “Wanted” unites two complete strangers from entirely different socioeconomic spheres, binding them together in a fight against corruption and murder.
Jilted by her fiancé on her wedding day and desperate to escape the pain, humiliation, and rejection, Freya impulsively steals a car from the church parking lot. Distraught, Freya drives for hours into the backwoods of Wyoming eventually stopping at a remote roadside bar. Devoid of money or personal belongings, Freya is befriended by a perceptive bartender who conceals the stolen car, demonstrating compassion for Freya’s situation. After too many complimentary drinks and feeling queasy, Freya stumbles out the backdoor seeking fresh air. While outside, she witnesses a murder and attempts to hide from the perpetrators but when discovered, flees for her life. Darting into the woods closely pursued by the culprits, Freya stumbles, hitting her head and losing consciousness. When Freya awakens she finds herself in the care of Jace, a man she recognizes from the bar, who was watching her intently earlier in the evening.
Jace lives alone in the back country, entirely off the grid and motivated by corrupt law enforcement, dispenses his own brand of vigilante justice. Losing his fiancé four years earlier in an apparent car accident he remains suspicious, suspecting she was murdered by a local criminal organization. Jace’s upbringing was filled with abuse perpetrated by his father, a former corrupt sheriff. Rumored to have killed his own father, Jace is driven to protect the innocent and that includes Freya.
“Wanted” reveals the journey of two wounded people from very different backgrounds, reluctantly thrust together, to find commonalities, trust and perhaps love. Freya has been provided everything she could possibly want by her influential but completely aloof parents. She has spent her entire life conforming to her parents excessive demands, insensitive demeanor and preserving the family image at all cost. Jace is a man who is unconcerned with image, is trustworthy, exudes confidence and dominance. He may be the man to give Freya exactly what she needs. Told from dual perspectives “Wanted” is a standalone novel filled with mystery, suspense and intrigue within a burgeoning D/s relationship.

When Freya's fiancee skips out with her bridesmaid and her father still insist the party goes on, she decides to run. I'd run too but her leaving lands her smack dab in the middle of a murder. Jace is called the Vigilante, because he takes care of "problems" the law doesn't seem to take care of. He just wants to be left alone. When Freya runs right into him after seeing a man killed, the fun begins. Well, it's not really fun but you know what I mean. Jace doesn't want her there with him but a snowstorm fixes that and she's stuck in his cabin. I love Freya because she is feisty, outspoken and questions everything. Jace, a very dominant man, finds her distracting at first but you know they are slowly going to end up together. But someone has told where she is and now Jace must protect her. Can he save the woman who, in a short time, has become to mean everything to him? This was an awesome story and the characters really pull the emotions out of the readers!! Ms. Henry has done it again!!!
Wow, very intense, Loved it. This is the 4th book of Jane Henry's that I have read and they just keep getting better. I never would have imagined myself reading books like this a few years ago, But when you have a writer that keeps the story not just hot but also interesting they are hard to resist. Wanted left me wanting more. And that is a very good thing. Highly recommend for those into D/s stories with a little bit of twist.
Local Heiress jilted at Altar by her Politician Fiance! Alpha Male Adults Only Romance with BDSM elements.
This is a silly book that I found hard to get through with a straight face. I'm assuming it was written to be 😝tongue in cheek and irreverent. Freya💃💋, the young dumb blonde heiress, leaves the church when her fiance runs off with one of the bride's maids. Her parents decide to go on with the party, and tell her to buck up. Instead, Freya💃💋 steals a car and drives hundreds of miles until she runs out of gas some place in Podunk, Wyoming.
Jace🐺🍆🌋👋🔫🔪, the local bad boy dominant and vigilante, scoops her up at a bar, after she witnesses a murder by the local gang, the Saxons. Jace🐺🍆🌋👋🔫🔪 takes Freya💃💋 to his remote cabin, where Freya💃💋 acts like a complete idiot and spoiled rotten kid. Of course she does! Her rotten attitude makes her butt a perfect target for Jace's big hand and belt.
ARC Received from Bookfunnel🌀 I also got the book with KU.
This is the kind of book to read when you just feel like getting away from real life. I couldn't stand Freyas character, so that was a big minus for me.
WANTED by Jane Henry left me deliciously satiated but still hankering MORE, MORE, MORE!
I absolutely devoured this ROLLICKING audio, narrated resplendently by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross! So what do you get when you have one jilted runaway bride who takes off for parts unknown in a stolen car and ends up the sole witness to a grisly murder? A whole heck of a lot of trouble, that's what! Good thing “Little Miss Prim and Proper” has Jace, a gruff, growly, dangerously sexy cowboy to rescue her from peril! After conking her head and passing out cold, sparks fly aplenty when sleeping beauty awakens in a rustic cabin in the woods and finds herself under the protection of this stern, hardworking, no-nonsense mountain man.
After suffering through the devastating loss of his fiancée, he prefers to live deep in the backwoods—and in complete solitude--but there’s more to this bossy brute than meets the eye. Jace lives by a fierce code of honor and lurks in the shadows, secretly defending the defenseless in pursuit of justice. He is a man on a mission, so the LAST thing he wants is to have to watch over this spoiled little damsel in distress who has never known a day of hard work in her life!
But as he and Freya find themselves sequestered together during a brutal snowstorm, he discovers a feisty little kitten beneath the prickly exterior who has more grit and determination, heart and soul, than he ever imagined. And even better? She is the perfect little naughty sub between the sheets who aches to surrender to his hot, burning domination! Together as they explore pleasure and pain, reaching rapturous heights and soul cleansing lows, it somehow eases the weight they both carry in their own bereft hearts. With danger looming, can these two polar opposites from two entirely different worlds find true bliss in each other’s arms?
WANTED truly surpassed my wildest expectations! Jane Henry always delivers a fast paced, highly sensual read that is unputdownable and I love that she returned to her western flavored roots with this delectable tale! This riveting, delightfully entertaining story is chock full of wickedly filthy erotic romps, oodles of danger and intrigue, and plenty of thrilling twists and turns to keep us on pins and needles. I absolutely ADORED Freya and Jace’s combustible chemistry…these two firebrands not only had a soul deep connection that lassoed my heart, but they generated heat and sparks aplenty, and their witty banter and scorching hot interludes lit ME on fire!
As far as tough, taciturn vigilante cowboys go, Jace had it going on! Equal parts ruggedly beautiful and ruthless, he harbored deep scars on his grief-stricken heart, but out of nowhere Freya blew into his quiet, solitary life and proved to be a temptation he COULD NOT RESIST! Against all odds, this spirited little filly brightened the dark corners of his world and with her pretty little neck on the line, this macho mountain man would KILL to make her his.
Meanwhile, Freya, a blue blooded socialite who has lived in the lap of luxury her whole life yet never found fulfillment or purpose, discovers her true destiny with Jace. This ruggedly commanding cowboy is indeed the most formidable man she has ever encountered, yet his stern exterior masks a gruff tenderness she craves. Surrendering all control beneath his crop makes her body tremble and her soul exalt, and cossetted in his strong, protective embrace she finds the love and acceptance that she’s yearned for her entire life. I also think the author did a fantastic job of weaving in a mystery arc surrounding the hero’s late fiancée’s death which ties in well with the heroine’s dire predicament. And the manner in which all the moving parts come full circle in the end was highly satisfying.
As for the narration, it was INTOXICATING! Wen Ross’s gruff country twang was TAILOR MADE for the role of Jace, a tough yet gentle hearted recluse who lived and loved hard! And oh how I swooned like a starry eyed sub when he was in full take-charge Dom mode and clearly relished showing Freya who was boss! As for Kai Kennicott, she really nailed Freya’s character! I loved how she brought out the heroine’s spirit and spunk and endearingly sweet, submissive nature. And I especially appreciated how over time we get to see the true heart of the woman beneath he pampered, privileged exterior.
These two talented, charismatic narrators really brought this sizzling Western romance to full technicolor life. Through their deeply nuanced and heartfelt performances, I felt the steam, the passion, the emotion, the dramatic urgency, and the breathtaking tenderness. And as the danger and passion reached a fever pitch, culminating in a pulse pounding showdown, I rooted for this unstoppable duo to bring down the bad guys and ride off into the sunset together!
DON’T PLAY WITH FIRE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO GET BURNED
Once again, Ms. Jane Henry has penned a spine-tingling, edge-of-your-seat tale that is full of mystery, suspense, danger, life and death, angst, passion, and power. Two people will come together in a very unusual situation, each from different lifestyles, but the sexual chemistry between them just sizzles off the pages. One has run away and is wanted, the other is an outcast and seeking justice, together they find dominance and submission.
Freya Rhett will be humiliated when she is abandoned at the altar by Winston Luxe, and her parents tell her, “go collect yourself,” and announce that a party at the hall has been paid for and will still go on. In shock, betrayed, she will find a car and leave, heading as far away as she can until hours later she sees a bar and stops. Not enough to eat that day, too much alcohol, and witnessing a murder will send her running for her life—until she is knocked unconscious. Waking up in a strange place with the man from the bar—the one they call Vigilante.
Jace Mercy is a man who avoids most people, he is over corrupt officials, murdering criminals, and he has been tracking certain individuals. Seeing the woman in the bar, he knows she doesn’t fit it—but her stumbling onto an execution and then running for her life, he has to rescue her and let the Saxons go. Taking her back to his place isn’t ideal, but his only choice, putting up with her attitude, that he can remedy. He will lay down rules and expect her to listen—or else.
“We need to talk about this obedience thing. It’s very—old-fashioned. I don’t—you’re very—I’m not okay with the concept. Can’t we just get along like equals?” --Freya
“My place. My home. My rules. It’s simple. If you disobey me, I’ll punish you. But you’re right. I’m an old-fashioned man with old-fashioned notions. If you disobey me, you’ll find yourself over my knee. I didn’t ask you, I’m telling you. You’re under my protection now. You’re under my roof. And as such, you will obey me. You, darlin’, have everything you want, but nothing you need.” –Jace
The chemistry between Jace and Freya just oozes off the pages from the beginning to the end. She has never met a man who is so dominant and someone she is willing to submit to freely, learning that with pain comes pleasure. She learns quickly that he will protect her, will punish her, and will show her a side of sex she has never experienced before. He hasn’t felt this way for a woman since his Sarabeth, and that scares him. Can he allow himself to feel again?
“He doesn’t play by anyone’s rules but his, and apparently that includes dishing out compliments when he wants to. I always thought sex was overrated, but this—this isn’t just sex. It’s wild, carnal indulgence with a man who knows how to work my body. It’s a night of utter abandon, chasing pleasure and pain.”
“You like to be dominated. And I mean to show you the very many ways I intend on doing just that.”
Danger is coming, and Jace knows he will have to face it head on, but he wants to keep Freya safe. When the knock comes at the door, and it is the sheriff, he knows time is up. The reward for Freya is high, and there are those who need to shut her up. What will it take to end this battle, so they both come out alive?
The story has explicit sex scenes, rope play, dominance and submission, spankings, BDSM scenes, as well as some violence and life and death situations. When it comes down to the nitty-gritty of life, money doesn’t matter; it’s what a man and a woman feel for each other. Freya discovers that she has never felt love until she met Jace—what does the future hold?
“There’s a weight on my chest I can’t lift alone. I’ve been a pawn in a life and death game of chess, and someone’s about to call checkmate.”

Un frisson me parcourt.
"Que veux-tu dire?"
« On l'appelle Vigilant. »
« Oh », dis-je d’un ton las. « Alors, euh, pourquoi me regarde-t-il avec colère ? »
« Il ne l'est pas », dit-elle, mais elle ne me regarde pas dans les yeux. « Tu sais, le visage de garce qui se repose ? Jace a un visage qui regarde fixement. »
Non, elle ment. Il me regardait fixement.
A Phenomenal testament to the healing power of love! A Cowboy’s-do-it-better MUST BUY! Oh, how I love the way author Jane Henry writes a story! Her descriptive, compelling prose draws me into the story so completely that real-life fades and my only focus becomes the magnificent characters and the captivating drama in which they find themselves. And oh, how that drama in Henry’s newest release “WANTED” held my attention! Henry has mastered the skill of feeding her readers just enough information to keep them on the edge of their seats, turning pages as quickly as they can to see what happens to people/characters that they have grown to love and taken into their hearts. With action so suspenseful and tension so titillating that the readers’ reality and focus becomes the world that Henry has so lovingly woven for them. A plotline upon which readers become so focused that the speed of reading obliges them to re-read the story just to see what they might have missed. (A focus so complete that the smell of chicken burning doesn’t register until the smoke detector shouts its warning! Tee-hee!) And characters which are so fascinating, they seem real enough to walk right off the pages of “WANTED” and into the place where the reader sits. I fell so in love with Jace and Freya, even Daisy and Betty were “people” I wanted to get to know better. I’ve lived in one of those small western towns depicted in “WANTED,” living far enough out of town, I’ve met a Jace or two. I’ve seen what happens when there is no Freya to blast into their lives or hearts, and I much prefer Jane Henry’s take on it. If you are looking for a GREAT romance, one that will take you away into a place and time where a happy ending reigns supreme, then “WANTED” is your next romance purchase. Their journey to that happy ending will entertain you for hours! I voluntarily read an advance copy of WANTED and this is my honest, voluntary review. I STRONGLY recommend you purchase your copy of this 5+STAR STEAMY romance today! Happy pages! 😉
Jane Henry is one of my go-to authors in BDSM and PNR reads. I love her books and know that I will get a great read and some hot sex in them. I was so ready to read this story even though it is a contemporary romance it is hot and spicey.
Freya is pis$ed and decided to leave her family little did she know she would end up in a far more dangerous area. But when she witnesses a murder and the bad guys see her and try to take her hostage, Freya can get away with some help.
Jace is a loner, the king of loners. He wants nothing to do with anyone, and that includes the new girl in town Freya. But when he sees her in trouble, he takes her to his home in the middle of nowhere. Freya is not someone to sit quiet and let anyone take her, even if it is for the health of her safety.
Jace and Freya butt heads a lot, and Jace is not one to sit on the sideline and just let Freya get away with it. So we do get a lot of some steamy love scenes, but it does not take over this story. I love Freya and how strong her character is. Jace is just the man for her.
What a STORY! Mr. Mercy had me in his grip the entire way through a truly justified Vigilante. Freya couldn’t be under the protection of anyone better, this woman came from knowing absolutely nothing about protection in the basic forms to being strong and fighting for herself. This story is filled with romance, action and suspense. A great read that I highly recommend.
Jace is an over the top alpha dominant man... err, COWBOY! Vigilante cowboy!! He likes to spank, whip, rope bondage, dirty talk and bite. He can also be tender, when he wants.
Freya, oh Freya. She’s a spoiled rich girl left at the alter for her bridesmaid. Her friends, family, all those surrounding her are pretentious assholes. She has the biggest 180 in the story. She starts out annoying (Jane Henry writes this character 100), but really changes and even discovers she has talents beyond hiring people to do everything for her and traveling. She’s also a pain slut. She likes to be spanked, whipped, bitten, bound — and she’s bratty.
Together they fall in love and teach each other trust. They solve the murder of Jace’s dead fiancé.
I didn’t give 5 stars bc the ending was rushed and how the villains are dispatched was a little over the top. But it’s a romance book so in the end does it matter? To be clear: I’m not mad at this book at all.
I really liked this book most of the way through it, but the author lost me when he immobilizer her and gets a bullwhip after her then has This scene didn't fit for two reasons. From a strictly BDSM standpoint, up until this scene, he'd done some spanking, but that was about it. He warns her that he could really hurt her and she replies something to the effect that he knows what he's doing, but she has absolutely no way of knowing that. It was straight from A to B to Z much too quickly. Then from a plot standpoint -- they're waiting for the bad guys to come, the ones who've already broken in not just there but at his neighbor's house, and he's going to immobilize her and render her defenseless, not to mention totally get wrapped up in a scene instead of being watchful. Just didn't add up on any level.
Title: Wanted Author: Jane Henry Format: Audio Narrator: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross Genre: Romance-suspense, vigilante Standalone: Yes Part of a Series: no POV: Jace, Freya Steam Level: hot, hot, hot 5/5
I started listening to Wanted with the intention of listening for a little bit then doing something else. Nope! One I started I didn't stop until I listened to the whole book. It drew me in from the start. Jace's voice is incredible-deep and gravely and sexy AF - just like Jace's character. This is definitely an author and narrator that I'd like to read/hear more of.
I received this audiobook for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Wanted by Jane Henry is a vigilante romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross.
I absolutely love Jane’s books! They always pull me in and leave me begging for more. I loved the relationship between Jace and Freya. I loved that Freya would give her submission but she still stayed a strong woman throughout the book.
Kai and Wen did an amazing job on the narration! These two always know how to bring a story to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of their work in the near future.
I would highly recommend this book if you like vigilante romances, western romances, or alpha males.
This as a great read that was filled with excitement, danger, emotional tension and sizzling heat. I loved Freya and Jace. These opposites weren't looking but found just what they needed anyway. Both these characters had their own baggage. These characters are complex and I really enjoyed learning about them as they in turn learned things about each other and yes, themselves. I highly recommend this wonderful romance that is filled with plenty of spice and intensity. All thoughts and opinions in this review are completely my own.
I’m a huge fan of Jane Henry’s alpha men. Jace was awesome in this book. A secluded man who’s fiancé was murdered is on a mission to find out who killed her and serve justice to them. Freya is left at the alter when her fiancé runs off with her bridesmaid. When they come together their relationship is just what they need . Jace was a jaded possessive alpha and Freya was the spoiled little rich girl who needed to learn a lesson. If you like a dominate male lead then this is a good read . It’s short and light .
This story is a great one that tells you about letting go and being true to yourself. Don’t run after something that isn’t right for you. It has everything you want in a story . A mystery, And thriller it will have you listing till the end . It’s a love story , showing the heroine what she really was missing . It’s a light BDSM also very light . The sad thing is Freya’s gets jilted and she runs , she can’t stop , after a while she’s thirsty , hungry and lost. But she must go on 500 miles later she saw something that rocked her. What was it. Grab it and see
If you haven't read a book by Ms Henry what are you waiting for? This is a lovely story about a rich girl that finds herself it a very difficult situation and the man who helps her out of it. Great characters and a wonderful story line. Ms Henry is a remarkable writer. She brings such power to her characters and stories. I look forward to her next endeavor.
I like a good quick western read and this is a good one. It moves along pretty quickly from the beginning. No dragging or skip reading. I wasn't expecting the elements of BDSM but it blended right in . Hot cowboy and sweet city girl made for a good pair. Relax, read and enjoy...
Poor Freya her wedding doesn’t go as planned and then her parents throw her under the bus when she disappears. Sees something she shouldn’t and then she meets Jace. Jace sees her as a pain at first but, things change fast for these two. Jace is a fighter and he will fight for Freya.
I liked the characters and detested the bad guys even though you were really never told much of anything except they were bad. It is a two character story with walk ons from all others except the small part played by Betty. There is a satisfying conclusion. There is a couple of sex scenes with elements of bdsm so is a book for adults.
Freya runs away after being left at the alter. She ends up witnessing a murder, getting knocked out and then wakes up in Jace's bed. Jace is known around town as a vigilante and she hopes he can keep her safe. There's a definite spark between these two, but can it be more than a fling? Can Jace keep Freya safe? This is a great read and I highly recommend it!
Freya is on the run after being left at the altar. She drives until she ends up deep in the country and witness a murder. Now she does not remember and has to depend on a stranger, Jace to keep her alive. The only thing that he requires is herself and her submission. Can she give it to him to keep her safe or will she go back to what she had when she remembers.
Loved this book ! Just like the saying goes don't judge a book by it's cover, so you should never judge a person by their looks.. First impressions aren't always correct.
I enjoyed this story. I liked both the H and h and how they came together and helped each other are what their hearts and lives need. It's steamy a few times but overall leaves you with a warm feeling and happiness for them.
A sexy , sensual, roller coaster of emotions. Wicked hot . Searing sexual action, plenty of steamy edgy, and delightful innuendo intense. Marvelous intriguingly twist of criminal activity is solved.😊
This was an excellent poor little rich girl story! It has a stern, dominant hero, a heroine on the cusp of adulthood, danger, personal growth, and romance. I really enjoyed this story!
I am a newer reader to Jane Henry's work - this is my 5th book - but I am hooked! The author pulls you in to the character's emotions, and keeps you reading with an outstanding story.
