Perine Beaumont, a succubus, owns and runs the hottest nightclub in Paris for human and non-human clients. The common thread in several recent murders perhaps tying them together is that the victims have Succ Club memberships. Detective Mathys Savatier is sent to investigate and hopefully won’t forget why he’s there.

This evening, Perine heard one of her wait staff, Anne, trying to tell a customer that she was not one of the professionals and only waited tables. He wouldn’t accept that -- until Perine walked over and pulled his hand away from Anne’s thigh. She was curious how he had slipped through their screening for slimeballs. She gave him 5 minutes to finish the drink and leave. Fortunately, he didn’t challenge her on that and he left.

Perine spotted a handsome man sitting along and nursing a cognac. She saw erotic darkness in this one, but he wasn’t ready quite yet, but the intensity of his dark eyes sent shivers down her spine. She studied him, then pulled out a small card which would give him access to the private rooms to explore what might interest him. He was to ask for her – she wanted to take care of him personally. He knew who he was, and he knew he’d be back!

At 3:19 a.m., Detective Savatier was awakened by a phone call. Another body was found. It looked like it was the same as the others, and was within the parameters they had marked off. He hurried out to meet his partner, Idrisse, who had called him. The victim had been drugged, judging by the lack of anything that would indicate a fight; then he was shot at point blank range in the head with a. 22 revolver. When they turned the body over, Savatier realized they wouldn’t have to waste lots of time investigating where the guy had been last. He had spent a good portion of his evening two tables away from Savatier’s!

This was a very suspenseful book with a murder mystery to solve. The story line kept moving along at a good pace while the suspense increased as more information was discovered. With the fast-moving twists and turns that keep the reader’s head spinning, can Savatier solve the mystery before someone else ends up dead?

Well-written book, but not one I would enjoy reading again due to the kink content. Not the kind of book I enjoy.

Somewhere between 3,5-4 stars. A very interesting mix of erotic romance and murder mystery
I think Succ is one of these ideas that seem like they wouldn't work on paper (switching between two so different genres like that) but it really does. The erotica aspects and the inclusion of M/M and M/M/F sex scenes in an otherwise M/F romance doesn't feel gratuitous either: it feels right for who the characters are and especially how the male MC needs to evolve in his personal journey. Plus, the overall theme of enthusiastic consent and sex positivity I think is a wonderful one — I don't see that many books who wear their beliefs on their sleeve like that and it's time to change that. My congrats to Gaja J. Kos for that element.
The reason I'm not giving it more stars is because I had some problems with the pacing and the developmental editing. Like, some REALLY important, life changing things for the male MC are happening off screen. And while I get that this was probably done to surprise the reader and act as a twist, I still think it was a missed opportunity not to explore these things as they happen.
The same pacing problem was apparent in the ending. Like, that epilogue scene? That should have been more part of the book than an afterthought (like it feels now). Also there are several loose ends that I think it would have been important to address (especially when it comes to the male MC).
All in all, a great idea with a very interesting execution, if only for these technical/pacing issues :-)

I love the cover of this book isn’t it gorgeous and I love this story about Perine who owns a nightclub in Paris called Succ and when a couple of members have been murdered a detective Mathys is sent to investigate. Mathys sits at a table and Perine see’s the excitement in his eyes which sends a shiver up her spine so she gives him a card to her VIP section and Mathys asks for Perine. Once Mathys gets home he is woken up by his partner who tells him that there has been another murder, when Mathys goes to the crime scene he recognises the man he was a couple of tables away from Mathys at the club. Fantastic paranormal murder mystery with some hot kinky scenes I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the characters and story were well developed. I loved the sassy female and their individual personalities and dynamics. The story was excellent. It had plenty of twists and turns, emotion, intrigue, smoking hot chemistry and romance. The book contains multiple erotic scenes which include M//F, M/M/F and M/M so be aware of this if you don’t like all of these. Overall I thought this was an excellent book that I would highly recommend!!

Deze recensie is in het Engels omdat ik het boek las in het Engels.

Mathys is undercover at nightclub Succ because there are some murders with one connection, all the people murdered where are a member of the nightclub. Mathys meets the owner Perine and they hit off. This is giving him access to the private levels of the club. He also discovers more about his own tastes while being at the club. But will he find out who is behind the murders?

Great read with action, detective skills, super naturals and attraction.
I really like the epilogue too.

Kos weaved a supernatural story set in a contemporary world. The result was fascinating world-building, entrancing characters, steamy sex, and mysteries. Perine and Matthys’ chemistry burns the pages. I didn’t expect the twists. Would like to see the other characters (Sege, Lys, Lucien) having their own books. Awesome read! [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

Overall rating: 4.5 (ku)

So straight off, kink is not my usual reading pleasure, but this amazing author blended this with paranormal characters along with a murder mystery. You just can’t help but get lured into all this suspense. The writing of course is excellent, the actions keeps the pages flipping until putting it down before conclusion is impossible. Pay attention to the very accurate blurb, this truly is a mature reader only book! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

This story takes place in Paris and has a lot of interesting characters. Slowly the plot is revealed and there is a murder mystery to unravel.
The way the story is written you do get attached to the characters.
This story however has a lot more steamy scenes in it versus the other series.
Overall an interesting read.
