Forever Wilde

Rate this book
Nothing lasts forever...if you're lucky.

Life has never been smoother for Tarot-reading artifact hunter Sara Wilde. With a worldwide criminal organization at her beck and call, she can finally secure the safety of the youngest and most vulnerable members of the psychic community. Sure, she's been banged up a little, and the Magician's most recent attempts to heal her turned her temporarily immortal. But otherwise...things are coming up roses.

Then Sara discovers an enclave of psychic children whose DNA has been dangerously altered, making them the hottest targets on the planet for traffickers. A new strain of technoceutical drugs is flooding the arcane black market, and powerful Connecteds, the Arcana Council, and even Interpol are intent on discovering its source. To protect the children and her House, Sara joins the hunt. What she discovers, however, causes her to question everything she knows about the war on magic and her own deeply-buried motivations.

Still reeling from those revelations, Sara reluctantly partners with the Magician to find and retrieve the most elusive member of the Council, the Hanged Man. Working together far too closely for comfort, Sara learns a series of startling truths about the mercurial, exasperating, and manipulative Magician--including one secret that could finally give her the answers she most craves...if it doesn't destroy her first.

The hits just keep on coming when you're Forever Wilde .

I love, love, love, love, LOVE this series. I inhaled this novel, even though it is longer and more detailed than the others in this series to date. I LOVE the direction it is taking us, and LOVED the character development. I can't wait for the next exciting novel!

Electric

In this book, Sara makes a startling discovery after getting questioned by Interpol agents and meeting up with Father Jerome. Someone is artificially creating Connected infants and the implications for exploitation are high.

When Sara inadvertently let's Armaeus know about this, he immediately knows who is responsible for this and it is time to bring the errant Hanged Man back to the Council. That guy is annoying as all get out, too. Can't say that I like him very much.

Sara is also still dealing with the increase in her abilities from Armaeus flipping her mortality switch. She can do and survive some pretty amazing things. She also discovers the truth about Armaeus's feelings for her and why he says he has to stop them. I hope she can find a way around it, but I know that is a long way away.

Holy crap on a cracker. Or maybe I should say something like Nikki would say regarding biblical people on bicycles. Seriously. This series keeps getting better. Ivana speaks of upending the old order and I have to tell you that this story totally upended me.

I hadn't talked to Ivana much about this series, so I'm relieved that it wasn't only me that suspected Nikki was the Hanged Man. I could practically taste the victory behind my guess. I was wrong. Wow, though, the idea of who actually is the Hanged Man? Brilliant. The story that Author Stark brought me had me totally at her mercy.

I know you are waiting for me to spill about Armaeus and Sara's relationship. Firstly, don't think anything is resolved their relationship. Nope. Not at all. Her position in relation to the Council? Huh-uh. What good is the book if nothing is revealed, you ask? Well, I've learned quite a little about our arrogant and emotionally vacant Armaeus. Some pretty interesting stuff too. You will have to read the book for yourself for that info. I learned who the Hanged Man is and what that's all about. I learned about more problems Sara has to work through regarding well...pretty much everything. Connected children, check. House of Swords business, check. Possible knowledge about her parentage? Check. Brody & Dixie? check and check. Yep, Sara has got a lot on her plate besides Armaeus and the Council, that is for sure. I will say no more.

If you haven't read this series, please pick it up. The writing is amazing and the stories are absolutely enthralling. The author does her homework and the story flows along so well that I never give a second thought about the wheres and wherefores to any of it. Author Stark weaves a tale that I can see very clearly in my head. The characters are multi dimensional and singular. They have distinct personalities and agendas. The imagery that is painted with words shows me so much about the scenes that I don't even notice I'm reading. I just see the pictures. The story is complete and very well thought out. Jenn Stark makes writing look easy - that's how good she is.

I love this series. You should know that first and foremost.

Sara has once again found something that has altered her image of both the world of magic and The Magician, the man she hates to love. There is a new drug being distributed more to people without magic than people with, but everyone seems to want it. Because it offers either a taste of being magical, or a boost in the magic you already have. But when Sara finds out that children are being experimented on, it becomes her goal in life to free these kids.

The story is exciting, enticing and a great deal of fun to read. This heroine is very different from most and those differences make her that much more appealing. The secondary pro and antagonists are also very different, being based on the Tarot. This makes the stories of Sara Wilde a must if you enjoy Urban Fantasy and if you enjoy a strong, funny, easy to like and easy to embrace heroine along with all her sidekicks. Vegas will never be the same.

I love these books, Jenn Stark and I applaud your imagination! Very very well done!

Wow! Great story! The opening scene was good but I found the talk with Interpol somewhat depressing! The story picked up with the introduction of Tesla! The rest was a whirlwind of action!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Always addicted to this series even if ...
There is something very good stuff :
- I love the evolution of Sara who is now at the head of the House of Swords !! She has become more interesting, more mature x)
- Nigel !!! I'm pretty sure it's the British touch =D
There is less good stuff :
- FINALLY
- I must admit that all these stories of drugs, children kidnapped etc ... Well it bores me more and more >< I SO prefer the mysteries around mythology, relics etc.
- lot of inconsistencies with Brody for example who is pretty useless or Nikki who has sex with Kreios ... But what about the demon of the previous book ???
In short, I am afraid that this series has difficulty to pass the mark of the 5 books aka the ultimate test of the exceptional series and those that disintegrate ...
3.5-4 stars
I was a little hesitant about this book. I really needed to push through at times (mostly in the beginning) and there were times when I felt very lost (though that happens at some point in most of Ms. Stark's books). The whole crew is back with Sara taking up her role as head of the House of Swords. Not so sure how I feel about that. I like when she works for the Arcana Council better than when she's doing things for her house, but I assume there is a reason why she was made head and not just as a plot twist. Her romance with Armaeus comes to a head at the end of this book and it will be interesting to see how it goes forward from here.
Overall not my favorite installment, but I definitely am not giving up on this series yet.
5 Stars... As Sara Wilde navigates the intricate nuances of leading the House of Swords, it's stake in the technoceutical market comes to light and presents with a whole new level of danger... The investigation into the extent of these drugs into mainstream society collides with the Council's need to find the Hanged Man, none other than Nikola Tesla, mad scientist or brilliant inventor??? Deciphering ally from enemy becomes increasingly challenging as Sara uncovers secrets of her past and the potential she possesses to save the future... Fast paced and exhilarating; this is a must read series with a brilliant twist on magic:)
Excellent! Enter a new character who deals with electricity. We have the past coming to the fore and it involves Sara and Armaeus and what happened in hell. Their relationship has been building since the beginning but really escalated since hell. How long will they fight the attraction? Now let's add in other news since Sara became the head of the House of Swords. The plot thickens and the war on magic is getting closer. Nicki, Nigel and so many others are important and the drugs and children are becoming even more important. As the major cards gather we will see many things change.
Wildly in love with this series!
Another gripping and exciting ride for Sara and crew. As she gets derailed from her establishment of a new way forward in her position in the House of Swords, by Interpol and two children who need her help.
No spoilers here. It's getting better and better so if you like a supernatural, twisty modern tale, with lots of adventure and subterfuge go for it. Start at book 1 and you're in for a Wilde ride. A magical Indiana Jones and her transgender bestie sidekick bust bad guy ass, with enough fun and critics to keep me riveted to every page.
Well. This was the best one so far. There are bits that I didn't see coming. Especially who the Hanged Man is - very well done. Remember how I mentioned how Sara was becoming a bit ridiculous - yeah it's happening but it's still fun and they're trying to keep her normal (we're not in Anita Blake or Caelina Sardothian territory yet). The story itself follows the normal patter, Sara 'finds' something and then it ties into the story as a whole....
And the story and world build on...
I'm still enjoying this series. A strong, interesting and quirky, (my fave) female main character, and other complex cast members plus some attention to world building, make for a strong foundation to add into each book and explore. At this point, I feel I need more...more action, more answers about Sara's origin story and some headway in two of her investigations.
This series really does get better with each book. Sara's growing into her power, and the environment she's operating in is getting more and more complex and twisty. It's hard to review this instalment in any detail without giving massive spoilers for previous books, so I'll just say that I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series over the next couple of months.
love Sara
Sara is a badass... I can't get enough of her.
though at times it story slows but picks up and when you put the book down you have to see what is next.
Sara and the Magician are so powerful together it makes you just want the stories to be about them...
