When Gabriele Moretti's sister is kidnapped, he had no choice but to hold Amara Carson captive. The sister of the man behind his sister's abduction, she was merely a pawn in the game to get Sofia Moretti back. The plan was to get rid of her in the end, but things changed when he found himself drawn her.
Gabriele was aware of how different their worlds were from one another, yet he couldn't stop himself from wanting her. He was a ruthless killer while she was an innocent, sinfully beautiful woman working hard to make a life for herself. There was no way she would survive in his world of violence, but he was a selfish bastard when it came to her. He was ready to go to any extreme to keep her by his side.
He'd go against the world for her, but did she have it in herself to love him for who he was?
Mafia King is a standalone dark romance with a happily-ever-after ending.
The thing I most liked about this book was the chemistry between Gebriele and Amara. They had a spark of energy between them. Writing style is simple and easy to understand and very straight forward. Author doesn't beat around the bushes. The madness and obsession of Drake was scary. The characters are well defined and the story is not unnecessarily stretched. I won't say it's the best book in it's genre but I would totally applaud the author's work. The erotic portion was well defined not making it vulgar so 10 points for that. Though I liked the book but I wasn't impressed by the cover , it could have been much better. In totallity I would say it was a good read. So if you want to read a steamy romance , then you can give it a try.
The first half was ok. There was a little suspense, some drama. But, what followed the first half was a typical Bollywood movie style. I didn't really feel that Gabriel is the big bad wolf. Amara could've been a little feisty, it would've been interesting, given that she was too demure and naive, it didn't really make the story gripping. The sequence of good guys catching the bad ones needed some working. It was too cliche. I expect a good narrative from the author, the next time. All her stories have insta love, which is getting boring.
'Mafia King' by Pooja Gupta is a mafia romance. The author has tried to add a lot of twists and turns, but it is just a regular story. It is about a Mafia and how he falls for a woman. I liked the characterization of Gabriele. It is interesting to see him falling for the heroine. Amara's character is naive and good. To be honest, the story has nothing much to make it likeable and enjoyable. Sadly, it is a regular love story. The dramatization and suspense lack in it. The narrative is too simple. Also, grammar errors are quite a few. This book needs editing. I shall give 3 stars, and it is a one-time read.
This is a book about dangerous love. When Gabriele falls in love with a girl he has held captive, life is not easy. It is a very ordinary and basic story. The story line is not that original. I enjoyed reading it, but it could have been better. The part where the mafia falls in love with the innocent girl makes it a nice read. The characters are well defined and that’s a highlight. But the story was nothing unique. The writing was very basic and grammatical mistakes were evident. I enjoyed reading it, but it was a one time read. I rated it a 2.5/5.
Enemies turned lovers. Short but beautiful story. Very strong emotions, hot romance and love forever. Gabriel is a man love to die for and Amara is made for him.
This book took me back to the days I used to read steamy romance on Wattpad, a platform full of stories of mafias, their innocent captives, possessive male characters, gang wars, bloodshed, rescuing, spending time together, falling in love and then an amazing love scene, it never gets old for me.
I read people complaining about the same old storyline, possessive mafias and that same drama of falling for a naive girl, what's new in that? New is for the person who wrote it and with the passion she wrote. And if what she wrote connects to me, makes me feel the emotions of the characters through her words, then I do support that story.
Everyone starts writing with something, whether its poetry or thriller, mythological or fantasy. Like poetry dominates nature and love theme, thriller has murders, mythology has ancient Indian and Greek gods, fantasy has magic, this way steamy romance writers have billionaire businessmen and mafias to rule the world.
Moreover read a book as a read only, especially when it comes to fiction. Reading this book and enjoying it doesn't mean I'll go out on the road finding for a mafia lover. I felt like writing all this because I have seen people reading such books whole heartedly till the end themselves, and then go around criticizing it. I feel that's why the writers of such theme don't feel as comfortable to come forward as the other stream writers do, which is unfair.
See writing takes a lot of efforts, then editing it again and again is not easy. Even after all this if the story is able to impress you, then please don't hesitate to appreciate it just because it was steamy romance. Being able to make the readers feel the burning passion between the pair, their struggles, their hesitations and then confessions, all makes up for a beautiful story if the author is able to deliver the message correctly with good plot construction and narration. I am happy that 'Pooja Gupta' is able to impress me in both ways.
Of course not to ignore the fact that the book still needs some editing on its grammatical mistakes. But as it is in ebook form, I hope they rectify those errors soon. Gabriele and Amara made for an amazing pair, I loved the chemistry between them. It was a perfect sizzling read. Read this book on kindle for free on unlimited otherwise for Rs 99.
Taken, a mafia-romance novel by Author Pooja Gupta takes us into the life of Amara. Talk about paying for sins of your kin, Amara here is kidnapped by Mafia man Gabriel Moretti, in lieu of her brother having had kidnapped Gabriel's sister. Well, this might as well be the regular mafia plot that you come across. And better yet? The lead characters are attracted to each other too.
While certain parts of the book are engaging and cliche, the way in which the the story is served will keep you wanting for more. And, well just in case you think that's all you get, there's some good old plotting, scheming and revenge plans in order. Now, this is where I'll have to control myself so that I don't give a spoiler!
The book cover speaks all about the content you'll find, so it is apt in a way. The language is quite good given that it is written by an Indian author, something that always bothered me, not in this book though.
I'll be recommending this book as a YA story that'll get you hot. Don't look for something deep though and you'll find the book interesting enough to give it a go.
