Adventures in Love #1

Skydiving, Skinny-Dipping & Other Ways to Enjoy Your Fake Boyfriend

Rate this book
I had four rules in place to get my mojo back.

1. Quit being a scaredy-cat and try new things.
2. Let Len help me to stop being a scaredy-cat since he got me into this mess in the first place.
3. Document everything on social media for my used-to-be friends to see.
4. Try not to fall in love...
Guess which rule I broke?

One day changed my life. The day I confused fearlessness with recklessness, and the consequences were dire. Consequences which filled my once carefree days with nothing but fear. Six years later, after hearing about the engagement of my ex who dumped me (because our fun life had flat-lined) to the woman he replaced me with, I decided to get my mojo back.

This could’ve been another enjoyable romance from this author. However the H did something so awful and dangerous and cruel that she should not be with him.

I’m going to go ahead and spoil it: the h’s brother and the H’s brother enlist in the army together. The h thinks that is because she pressed an unwanted kiss on the H’s brother , who then joined the military to escape her. Both brothers are killed in an accident. The h blames herself because she is pretty self centered in a low self-esteem kind of way. Obviously, there’s a lot wrong with her thinking and it shows that the h is very young and emotionally vulnerable. However, the H initiates a campaign of online and real – life torture against the h, getting her fired from jobs, slashing her tires every week, and repeatedly urging her to kill her self.

Let’s revisit that last one. He repeatedly urged a grieving young woman to kill herself and stripped her of all of her social and financial support systems at the same time.

She moved out of town and they eventually meet each other again. She doesn’t recognize him for some reason. They fall in love but she inevitably finds out the truth about who he is.

I have a big problem with this. Unless the H was living under a rock, he must have known that urging a depressed young woman to kill herself in particular via online bullying and harassment, could very well result in that young woman actually killing herself. It happens all the time. So he wasn’t just lashing out, he was choreographing a situation where she could very easily have killed herself out of guilt and grief.

When she moved 2 1/2 hours away to escape the constant cruelty, he decided it was time to get his life together. He says that he went into therapy, but I guess the therapist skips the part about him bullying a traumatized young woman and urging her to commit suicide. Wouldn’t part of therapy be him making some sort of amends to her? I don’t care how much of an effing victim he was, she was too.

This is way too toxic, not romantic, and a very ill-chosen Big Misunderstanding.

I very rarely write reviews but I felt the need to this time because I'm torn with my rating.
I would have probably given this book a 4+ rating because I really liked the authors writing style, however there were a few things that really turned me off and disturbed me.
( SPOILERS AHEAD! TURN BACK NOW!)

The H is this awesome guy who did something really bad and shitty in his past because he was hurting and upset, but he got help and changed his life around, forgiveness is okay....
***However this went way beyond what was necessary for the story to work. H could have bullied h and I could have lived with that, people change and grow up but H made h's life HELL and stalked her for a year! The H tried to get h to KILL HERSELF! Also stated HE was going to KILL HER if she didn't!
I also don't understand how she didn't know what he looked like or who he was!?!

Fantastic Story & Audible Listen🎧 A Delightful RomCom
Skydiving, Skinny-Dipping and Other Ways to Enjoy Your Fake Boyfriend
By: Sarah Zolton Arthur
Narrated by: Amanda Stribling

I really this enjoyed this book, it is well written, well told and it contains a lot of heart. The storylines are interesting and original, they held my attention from start to end. The characters are complex and well developed. I adored Kami, her determination to get past her fears by using her inner strength and allow her bravery take over. I also adored Lennon, how he supported and encouraged her. I had my suspicions of who he really was I still wondered what his deal was, was he for real or not. And while my suspicions were correct, I still loved who he turned out to be, it added a nice twist to the story and it kept me wondering. Kami may have started all these challenges to show her Ex she was not boring but in the end it was all for her, personal growth being happy with oneself. I liked these two together, they were good for each other. And those challenges and adventures were awesome, there were some great laugh out loud moments. I recommend this fast paced, fun story, it has it all drama, action, twists, some thrilling moments as well as a build up to a great romance. Sarah Zolton Arthur thank you for this greatly entertaining story and the emotional rollercoaster ride. Thanks for the laughs too.

I listened to the Audible edition, Amanda Stribling is a talented narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality as well as heart and attitude. She does an amazing job projecting the characters emotions into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen🎧

Fantastic Audible listen!

Did the Audiobook meet your expectations?
I am not sure what I was expecting for this book. I thought it would be like other fake boyfriend books where they conveniently pretend to be together, fall in love (but are too afraid to admit it), realize that they are meant to be together.
This book though takes you on a ride of self-discovery and even after tragic events from the past, you can look forward and learn to live and enjoy your life.

How did the story make you feel?
This was an exciting book, fun and enjoyable. When Kami learns to face her fears and take leaps you are in the moment with her.

Did the narrator make it easy to follow the story?
Amanda Stirbling has done a fantastic job with making the book very easy to follow.

Did you find the narrator’s voice fitting for the main protagonists(s)?
Very fitting for the story, you can easily follow when she is voicing each character.

Do you recommend this audiobook and will you pick up more?
I definitely recommend this book. It is fun, has a little heartache and leave you feeling satisfied in the end. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more work from Sarah and Amanda and hopefully more from the Adventures in Love Series.

I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Did you ever need that little push to get you outside your comfort zone? All it takes it hearing your ex is engaged and a new man to give you the edge! Kami finds out about her ex and decides that she will now take charge of her life and make it more interesting! But she finds it's not so easy. Lennon comes to her aid and tells her he will help her out as her fake boyfriend and put up all their escapades on social media, letting her ex know just what he lost. But what neither of these two realize is the impact this plan will have. What a story! Sarah Zolton Arthur infuses humor and passion into an adventure so worth taking. Kami is a great character. I love her realness, that sense of fear she has until she steps out and learns to enjoy that being uncomfortable just may be what she needs. Lennon is more than helpful with her rejuvenation, but he holds a secret that can destroy them both. I loved the twists, the ways to enjoy your fake boyfriend and the great time on Instagram!

Amanda Stribling gives this story her wonderful voice. Amazing with her comedic timing, she gives this story a little push with the narration, adding a depth to Kami and a warmth to Lennon. I really enjoyed her performance.

A Definite Must Read if You Love Romcoms.
I usually start out my reviews with the name of the book. But dang, the title is so long I’m not going to do that to anyone will to read reviews. I will say that author Sarah Author is a true gift. Her writing reflects just how much she enjoys her craft and sharing it with the world.
The two main characters, Kami and Len, have more than just the right chemistry. They have that synchronicity or fate of being together, regardless of past tragic circumstances. Others around them seem to know it too and either embrace them for it or try, unsuccessfully, to destroy it.
There are so many things going on with this couple that I would love to see a sequel but that’s not to say I’m happy with the storyline’s conclusion...I am.
This is such a well written book that I’m definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment, pleasure, and funny bone.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace

Skydiving, Skinny-Dipping and Other Ways to Enjoy Your Fake Boyfriend was my first novel by Sarah Zolton Arthur and I loved it. This tale was well-written and entertaining, fast-paced and adventurous with a twist I did not see coming. It was unique and had me hooked from beginning to end.
I loved how Lennon was supportive of Kami and helped her overcome her fears. I loved Kami. Her fears were real yet she was willing to step out of her comfort zone and I was cheering her on all the way. These two had great chemistry together and I loved seeing how their relationship progressed from fake to real. What a fantastic story. I would highly recommend it to all lovers of Romantic Comedies.
I listened to the audible version of this novel which was narrated by Amanda Stribling. She was absolutely perfect for this story, infusing humor and personality into the characters and she really brought the story to life. I enjoyed listening to her narration of this story.

It was amazing!

First time reading Ms Zolton's work, but after completing this novel, it certainly will not be the last of her work that I read. I must say I was most impressed with her work; a well woven tale of two people's life experiences and the inter-connectedness they had. This work was original, believable and intriguing. Great characterizations that were very down-to-earth and believable behaviour. I received this book, immediately checked it out and then continued reading until all was read in one go.

A thoroughly enjoyable read! Highly recommended!!

I look forward to checking out more of Ms Zolton's work ... you too should check out her work!

I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.

Skydiving, Skinny-Dipping & Other Ways to Enjoy Your Fake Boyfriend was a great read by Sarah Zolton Arthur. I absolutely loved reading Kami and Len’s story. Kami is looking for any way that she can to get her mojo back. She is looking to try new things and not be so scared of everything. She also wants to document everything on social media so that all of her old friends and ex can see what she is up to. She doesn’t want to fall in love and didn’t think that she would when she asked Len to be her fake boyfriend. I really enjoyed listening to this funny book and can’t wait to read more by Sarah Zolton Arthur. Amanda Stribling did a great job of narrating the characters and helping you fall in love with them.

I had so much fun listening to this exhilarating, hilarious and steamy romance! It was refreshing, and quirky, and had so much heart. Kami and Len make such a perfect couple. They encourage and support one another through all these crazy adventures. I loved the banter, Kami's inner dialogues, and a story-line that held surprises right to the very end. Amanda Stribling did a great job bringing this story to life. She was so perfect as Kami, but her other voices were distinct and dynamic as well. She was very easy to listen to, making this quirky, heartfelt romance even more fun and exciting.

This is a fun story to listen to! I enjoyed it very much. Many laugh out loud moments.
Len encourages Kami out of her comfort zone. From sky diving and skinny dipping to other things in-between. Everything they do is posted on social media to show friends and especially her ex. During all their escapades, Kami's self-confidence develops along with their romance.
Amanda Stribling narration is wonderful. She made it a joy to listen. Very entertaining and giving each character their own voices and personality. I was gifted this audio and offered my honest review.

Ugh. This book had so much potential. The story could have been phenomenal but the writing falls flat. The characters have the potential to be dynamic and interesting but I didn’t connect with them at all. I saw the “shocking” twist that Len was actually Leo from miles away, and the conflict and resolution happened way too fast. I really wanted to love this book but at the end of the day I just didn’t. Oh and the whole no swearing thing?!?! I straight up hated that. I would not recommend this book to friends.

Who is Kami? Where do we find her? Who is Brian? Oh, I like Lennon! Who are Harrison and Leo? Who is Lennon? What is Kami's life like? How did her life get to be that way? What does Lennon help Kami with? I laughed most of the way through this book. This was my first book by this author and now I look forward to reading more! So unexpected!

This is not your typical fake relationship book. Kami and Len have the time of their lives getting her to loosen up and try new things, all while showing her ex how fun she is via social media. It's great to read how Kami opens up to Len and how he helps her as the perfect example of a boyfriend. Although Len isn't exactly who he appears to be, he's still the best thing for Kami.
The characters are loveable, the story sweet and it all flows nicely with a few good laughs along the way.

I truly enjoyed listening to Len and Kami's story. The narrator did a great job bringing them to life and distinguishing between the voices. The plot is well written and flows nicely. The laugh out loud moments are great, and even the sad moments have so much warmth to them. You really get to understand how each brought them to this point in their lives. This was my first book by this author, but it won't be my last.

So unexpected

I really loved this book. Everything about it. Hard to believe with the short number of pages. Kami and Len were perfect together. The way they came together, the small amount of angst and their adventures. Len was so good to her. Don't want to post spoilers, but you don't want to miss this book. Highly recommend.

Such a captivating story!

This was such a fun read with the adventures between these two amazing characters. The plot twist was so on point. I didn't see it coming and couldn't wait to see how it all played out. It was sweet to see Len breathe the life back into Kami that she thought she'd lost.

Audiobook Review

I feel it needs a shorter name

My biggest issue was the name of the book as it's a mouthful and hard to recommend for this reason, With that aside I have to say I laughed and was surprised on the twist at the near end.

Narration was great, thou the story began slow I didn't have to wait long for it to pick up.

I was given a free copy of the audio version of this story in return for an honest review and here it is! This was a fun, light hearted read which I loved listening to. It told the story of a girl who has to face many challenges, many of them very funny. The narrator told the story beautifully. I would recommend this for a great holiday read. I will look out for more by this author!

I really liked this book. This book gave me joy and positive vibes. Sure things seemed to move a little later than normal, but you have to read if that's true or not.

Kami has lost her way and in failing to accomplish something ends up meeting someone really great for her. I love that he brings out the adventure in her. The fearlessness she exhibits throughout the book was inspiring.

Laughing loud funny and she's a year was too

Kami was determined to get her fun loving adventurous side back after being dumped. First adventure was to be sky diving but she needed a different approach. Len met Kami through sky diving but he became her adventure coach and love. There's a great plot twist and a karmic punch keep the fast pace rolling, jumping and diving along!

Standalone HEA

My favorite thing about this is through all the physical and emotional hurdles there is no excess drama or whining. These are people you will like and wish you knew in real life, warts and all.

I enjoyed this book and the bravery of Kami to do all the scary stuff. A woman who has been scorned moves on with her life and conquers her fears. Of coarse, a man enters the picture and there are some twists and turns there.
