From New York Times bestselling romance author Jean Oram comes the third book in the addictive and sweet Summer Sisters series and the quietest sister of all. But what will happen when this wallflower finds her place in the world and stirs things up for the sisters?
One developer. One lawyer. One unexpected chance at love.
Years ago, cut-throat developer Tristen Bell had everything that ever mattered to him ripped away. Now divorced and living in Muskoka, he's shunning all that reminds him of his past and the unstoppable man he used to be.
Melanie Summer thought her law degree would help her find a place in this world. But when a big city developer threatens to destroy all that she loves—including her family—she finally sees her path. The only hiccup is that the man she needs—the sexy and stubborn Tristen Bell—refuses to do anything other than give her tender, knee-weakening kisses every time he sees her.
When Tristen’s teenage daughter ends up in the ER due to the negligence of his former rival, everything changes. Tristen knows he can shut down the developer but it means resorting to his old, ruthless ways and showing sweet Melanie a side that may send her running.
With time running out to stop the developer, and their attraction for one another increasing, will Tristen and Melanie learn to love and trust one another in order to reach their happily ever after?

The development happening across from Nymph Island is becoming more obtrusive--and now the developers have made an offer for Nymph Island. The Summer sisters don't plan to sell, but these people are accustomed to getting what they want, and they don't plan to lose to four young women struggling to pay the taxes on their cottage.
It's Melanie, third sister, and a lawyer, who takes the lead this time, and Conor's friend, Tristen Bell, former developer who has taken an early retirement to Muskoka, is her possible partner in taking on his own former business rivals. Unfortunately, Tristen is determined not to be That Guy anymore, the ruthless, cutthroat developer who actually knows how to stop these people.
The attraction between them, and the conflict that divides them, is unsettling enough. Then Tristen's teenage daughter arrives, dropped off by his ex-wife for an unplanned visit of several weeks. Tristen knows he has no idea how to be a father, but he's determined to be a good one. It's another complication, pulling him in different directions. Meanwhile, Melanie is frustrated and sometimes infuriated by Tristen's mixed signals, both romantically and on the development.
These are, again, fun, interesting people who take us on an interesting ride as they get acquainted and find their way to a relationship. There was one episode I felt just didn't work; I'll leave it at that to avoid spoilers, and for me, the book got back on track afterward. Overall, enjoyable. Recommended.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, and am reviewing it voluntarily.
She's kind of a tomboy but was giving dating a last chance, so dressed up "girly" for an online-met date who thinks "down to earth" and "basic" means "lets get down to business in the back seat." She said no and now she's stranded without her purse or phone, in the middle of nowhere, in front of a biker bar. By the end of the first chapter I was grinning broadly and anxious to continue. Narrator Vanessa Moyen's voicings kept me in the moment and enraptured. Through politics and heritage and environment concerns the Summer sisters continue to lead crazy-busy lives. This story stands alone, cliffhanger notwithstanding, but you really want to have read them in order to enjoy the full narrative as each sister looks to her future.
Note: I received an Advanced Reader Copy for an honest review.
Love and Trust is the third installment in The Summer Sisters Beach Reads Contemporary Romance. This is Melanie's story. We have already heard two of the for sister's stories in Love and Rumors (Hailey's story) and Love and Dreams (Maya's story). The sisters are at risk of loosing their precious historic cottage. This story combines characters from the first two stories, as well as introducing us to new characters.
A developer threatens everything precious and loved by Melanie; the cottage, the night sky, the views, the wild life, the summer camp that saved her, her family and her career. Summer meets Tristen and hopes he will help her with her quest to save everything she stands to loose.
Jean Oram weaves political, ecological and sociological issues throughout Love and Trust, all the while providing us with delightful situational humor, fate, steamy romance, summer love and one awesome alpha male.
Without a doubt, this is Jean Oram best novel yet!
I am a huge fan of this series and Jeans Blueberry Springs. Love and Trust is a wonderful fast paced story with cameos of the characters you love from the previous books. This is third book and can a stand alone but I would suggest reading them all. It is a wonderful town and the sisters own Nymph island where they believe love has been found there because of the magical fairies. I won't go into details on the actual story so I don't spoiler it. Jean also brings mentions to blueberry stings in these books which I love so you feel like you don't leave it and you can't forget it. You are left with a cliffhanger but I believe the wait will be well worth it. Daphne and her daughter are two of my favorite characters so I'm so happy they finish up. Happy reading.
I received this book as an ARC. I am writing my honest opinion of this book. All I can say is, "WOW!" It was an awesome story bringing characters from the previous book and giving them their own story! I really enjoyed this sweet romance and can't wait to read the last one. There are still some mysteries to be solved and I love that you don't get all the answers right away, but with each new story more answers are revealed. I highly recommend this book to all. Can be read as a stand alone, but more fun if you have read Love and Rumors, and Love and Dreams first. Jean Oram
This was a pretty good book. Well written so that it was easy to read and easy to get to know the characters. The storyline was good - a David and Goliath story.
I did find Tristan's whiplash (now I'm in, now I'm not) got a bit much, but that was minor.
I can see that Jean Oram has written herself into a bit of a hole by trying to continue the whole tax bill right to the end. It was fine at first, but once you start bringing in billionaire boyfriends and fiances, she's struggling to keep the tax thing going. We get a throwaway scene where Connor talks to Tristan and says that he offered to cover the whole debt and yet the girls all want to do it on their own. Given how desperate they all appear to be to save the cottage, I'm not really buying that one. At least take a loan with him and pay him back over the year rather than hold to the 1-month deadline. But, hey, that takes away half the story, so we can't have them all being sensible...
Then we get another throwaway scene with Maya saying that she wants to get a finders fee for the business venture they found, but Connor is being all thingy about it. Her sister (can't remember if it was Melanie or not) suggests she say it's for the cottage, but Maya won't do that. So, let's talk about everything wrong with that throwaway. 1. Aren't they engaged? If they are starting out with the whole "yours and mine" attitude, then things are not looking good in paradise. "I need money for taxes, but I'm only getting it through the business, not through my fiance helping me out" doesn't exactly shout "loving relationship on a good, solid ground" to me. 2. I don't believe highly successful businessman Connor is such an idiot to miss the opportunity to pay Maya's debts in a way that Maya won't refuse. Surely he can see that the money will go to taxes, and as he wants to pay them anyway, wouldn't he jump at it? It is very obviously Jean Oram trying to keep the whole tax thing going, and it isn't working.
And the thing is, it isn't needed. She now has the whole development thing to keep the drama going. She could have just run with that.
I am in love with the Summer family! This time, we get to go on Melanie's journey. Not looking for love, but rather taking on a big company to stop a development, Melanie has her hands full. Tristan comes in the picture, a big time lawyer, now turned real estate agent and he can help her. But will he? He is a single dad, divorced and happy to leave his cold-hearted self behind. His daughter, Dot comes to live with him and when she has a swimming accident due to the developers, his mindset changes. But is it enough to take on the big company? This is my kind of story. First, a single dad, trying to deal with a teenage daughter add comedic value to the book for me. Kids can be so difficult and Dot does everything she can in the beginning to cause Tristen problems. Add in the crazy ex-wife, and the need to keep his old life away from him, and Tristen is a character you can't help but love. Melanie is determined and ready to fight for what she believes in. I love her perseverance it makes her character strong and smart, traits I love to see in women. The pairing of these two and finding a balance to get to their same result takes the two on some fun adventures. Melanie's mom is a wonderful adviser and Dot a delightful addition to the story as well as cameos from Melanie's sisters and niece. It captured me from the beginning and I can't wait to see what happens next to this family!
Vanessa Moyen continues her wonderful narration of the series. She has become the Summer girls for me and I love the continuity of her voices throughout each. She gives great comedic timing and emotional value to the books, making them great listens.
Holy cliff-hanger Batman! First, you may want to have quick and easy access to the next book in this series before you get too far into this one. I’d started to be curious about Tristen in the previous book and I’m so glad to see we get to know him much better in this one. And pretty much from the beginning of the series I’ve wanted to know all about all of the Summer sisters. Melanie and Tristen are a bit of a tragic pair. They’ve both let other people’s opinions affect the way the see and feel about themselves. They’re also one of the silliest pairs together. I’ve laughed with the other sisters, but I don’t remember laughing as loud or as much. This story also sets the stage for Daphne with an ending that had me shrieking “wait! You can’t leave me there!” So I am literally and figuratively dying to get my hands on the next book. I received a complimentary copy of this audio from the author.
This is the third book in the Summer Sisters series and we have already meet the heroine of this book and fallen in love with her, but Melanie has always felt like the odd one out. When a date gone wrong leaves her stranded outside a run down biker bar she makes a bad situation into a chance for her to show she doesn't need a man. Developer (turned recluse) Tristan is not interested in any sort of relationship but he can't help but be drawn to Melanie. Fighting the development happening in her home town has Melanie making some fierce enemies, putting her and her sisters at risk. This book has a cliff hanger ending and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Audio/Ebook Review: Love and Trust (The Summer Sisters, #3) by Jean Oram (Author), Vanessa Moyen (Narrator)
Love and Trust is a little bit more mature than the first two books in the Summer Sisters series. Tristen and Melanie are a little bit older, a little more wiser, but no less immune to love. She needs a hero. He has no intention of being one, until a blast from his past endangers everything he holds dear. Great writing, emotional scenario and heartwarming romance equal hard to resist reading. Add in a smooth talker like Vanessa Moyen to sweeten the pot and it's a win - win.
I greatly enjoyed Love and Trust. I loved Melanie. She’s intelligent, brave and has a heart of gold. She also has a lot of gumption. Making a stand where most people would have backed down. I glad Tristen came to his senses and opened his heart to love again. The two are perfect for each other. The also make a formidable team. That’s something they’ll need going up against the ruthless developers of Rubicore. I can’t wait to read the final book and find out how the Summer sisters’ story ends.
At one point I was ready to start a petition and gather materials to protest Rubicore! I love how these books continue the tale of the sisters and their struggle to keep their island. I totally related to Melanie and her self image issues and really enjoyed Tristan and Dot. This is another great book in the series (yes you can read them as stand alone but in order is more fun)!
I really dislike cliffhangers when I'm reading a series. I love when stories intertwine, such as with the sisters, but I dislike cliffhangers.... that's it.
I listened to this book on Chirp and did NOT like the narration. It was annoying really.... I listened to it at a greatly increased speed and it still annoyed me! Personal preference I'm sure, but one I'm pointing out!
The cottage strikes again 😊 Tristen and Melanie are such interesting, captivating, relatable characters. Their meet cute is good and set the stage for the rest of the book. I enjoyed the romance and the subplot about saving the cottage. I enjoy the world of the Summer sisters. I’m looking forward to finding out how the cottage get saved. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story.
I enjoy Oram's writing but thought the story was a little unbelievable. For that reason, I had trouble identifying with the characters (sisters all beautiful, movie star guy so accessible, etc). Enjoyable if you want a fantasy type of romance.
This story had so many elements to it. A legal battle for property turns into a battle for family safety and finding love for our heroine and the reluctant man who ends up helping her.
Love this story. Melanie is awesome. So relatable and such a strong character. I also loved Tristan's teenage daughter, Dot, who brought a lot of attitude to the story. Another winner from Jean Oram.

This is book 3 in the Summer Sister's series and the series just keeps getting better and better! We have met all of the sisters and Tigger (Kim) in the first 2 books, but the author continues to grab the reader's attention and make them NEED more!! You can start with this book and be able to figure out what is going on, however, I would recommend that you read the previous 2 books so that you have the full story on all of the Summer sisters and their island.
In book one, Love and Rumors (Hailey's story) and Book 2, Love and Dreams (Maya's story) we get a glimpse into the life of the third sister, Melanie. Melanie has always felt like she didn't belong. She is a lawyer who has been dateless for too long and is not sure what to do to help her sisters to save Nymph Island and their cottage. She is able to figure out that she wants to find love, save the island and be happy, but she isn't sure how to do it, until she runs into Tristan Bell. Tristan just wants to be alone, spend his time doing what he wants and not have to worry about anything. Until Melanie helps him change his tire, and falls into his life in the most inconvenient ways....
This story will leave you laughing, crying, pouting and at times yelling at the book. The author pulls the reader straight into the story and into the lives of the Summer sisters. You can't read any of these books and not want to stay immersed in their world. I feel like the characters are more like friends and it feels like we have been friends forever. You become a part of the book, the islands, and the fight to save it!
The plot is tight, smooth and quick flowing. The author makes the reader commit to spending the entire afternoon/night reading this book - there is just no "slow" spot to stop reading. The reader doesn't want to put it down and miss any of the story. The plot has several twists and turns that the reader doesn't see coming and a few AHA moments when they figure out what is going to happen. This book is a fun, light read that is perfect for the sunny summer days! Grab your flip flops and this book and get into summer with the Summer sisters! Add this to your TBR list and you won't regret it for a second! Enjoy ~

Melanie Summer always has felt at odds and never seems to find a date, she seems to be an old soul and has a thing for old stories and heritage. She never seems to make a difference in the world of others despite being a lawyer. However, there is a developer threatening everything she loves about her beloved Muskoka from her heritage to her childhood summer camp she knows she can be to woman to stop this, however the man she needs to assist her is the reclusive Tristen Bell. and he won't take her calls, or emails. Conner MacKenzie Maya's boyfriend said to contact him, but it hasn't helped thus far.
Tristen Bell, was a cut throat developer with a drive to win all including his billion dollar nest egg but lost all but in the money in process.. FAMILY. Now divorced and living alone in Muskoka, he's a recluse shutting all out but his friend Connor basically and a few others. He gave half the business to his ex, and she bought the other half and named it Tri-Bell. However, his teenage daughter Dot (Dorothy) walks back into his life for a couple of weeks). Tristen is determined not to blow his chance at this. He really wants a relationship with his daughter.
Well, this is a fun filled, suspense packed, romance, and humorous abound. Tristen and Melanie are thrown together by event that out of their control. His truck breaks down, she is there to fix it, her first pitch for help, second, his daughter get hurt by debris from the garbage barge from the developer, now it is his fight with Melanie. In the meantime Dot has been working with Melanie as an intern as she wants to be a lawyer and she needs to log in hours and such. Now it becomes her fight too.
I loved the romance between these two, no matter how they tried to fight it off, it was their destiny to love and be loved. Tristen grew as a man, as a father, as a businessman. Melanie learned how to trust love and be loved. Dot was a cute teenager, and loved her character as well. Loved the Summer sisters as well always loved catching up on Nymph Island. Way to go Jean!!!!!!!!!
I have been a fan of Jean Oram's book since I read her very first book. I think this book is one of her best ones so far.
From the first page, I was a part of the story. I could relate with Melanie. She is a down to earth character who is trying to find herself and someone to love her for who she is not somebody they want her to become. This is the third book in the Summer Sisters. It can be read alone but to understand the underlying theme you should. The Sisters are trying to save their family cottage from all kinds of problems.
There is a cliff hanger at the end which I am not happy with but at least it is only a short wait to the 4th book. It comes out next month sometime.
Oh, Trigger is still a great support character. I would love to see a book all about her and the world through her eyes.
This book is a must read.
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review*
Jean I loved the story of Melanie and Tristen. Tristen Bell sold his business to his ex wife and moved to Muskota to live. He is a billionaire but he lives within his means from his rock laying business. Melanie is a lawyer who lives in town. She is trying to save the family cottage that is on Nymph Island but a developer is trying to make them sell. This was the third book in this series. I loved them all. Now I can hardly wait to see what is going to go on with Daphne, which is one of Melanie sisters. Daphne has a five year old daughter, Tigger. This story is about Melanie and Tristen but I don't want to give away the story. If you have read Jean's books before you know its well written and very interesting. This is a very good read
3.5 stars...I received an as ARC for an honest review.
I knew this was a series when I agreed to read/review this book, but didn't realize it would have a cliffhanger until I was about 80% through it. I'll read the next one to find out what happens, but I won't finish book one or read book two. I spent most of the book not liking Tristan. It wasn't until he became his "former self" that I liked and respected him. But I think I was expecting that he had done something horrible by the way he talked about his past life.
Melanie was great! I really liked Dot, too. I didn't feel there was a love story or romance until more than half way through the book. It wasn't horrible, just not my style. Sorry I couldn't give it a higher rating.
I really enjoyed this latest installment of the Summer Sisters series. As we learn even more about the history of Nymph Island it becomes clear that the sisters must do everything possible to try and save it. Melanie Summers (the lawyer of the family) decides a full court press against the developers threatening the island and the way of life in Muskoka is a must. Tristen Bell left his old crazy life behind and is content with the quiet life he's built in Muskoka. When he's pulled into the fight along with Melanie, a quiet life is the last thing he has but it is possibly the best thing that has happened to him in a long time!
This is a really good read and I definitely recommend it.
I was given the opportunity to read this book early by the author and let me tell you - I LOVED IT. Melanie and Tristen seemed to be a great fit from the beginning, even though they couldn't see it. A great cast of characters support these two in their pursuit of what is right. I found that the storys' ups and downs to be exciting and I had trouble putting the book down. I can't wait to find out how the author wraps up the story of The Summer Sisters. I recommend the entire series to all readers.
'Love and Trust' (Summer Sisters Series Book 3) by Jean Oram is a great read. This is the story of Melanie Summer and Tristen Bell. This is a wonderful addition to the Summer Sisters Series. I absolutely loved reading this story. I enjoyed getting to know more about Melanie, Tristen. Catching up with the Hailey, Maya, Daphne and Tigger. Meeting Dot, Trista, the bikers. I can not wait to see what happens next in this awesome series by Jean Oram. Highly recommend to all fans of romance.
Another great book in the series maybe my favorite yet. I love the spunk Melanie has and was glad when Tristen got supportive of her. I think its a nice love story it wasn't hot and heavy from the start. Great story line. Hope book 4 gets out soon hate to be in suspense..
A great story from beginning to end. A story about trusting someone again and starting over. A story of finding where you belong. A story of finding your strength and using it for the good. A story about finding love. This story has it all. I loved this third book in the series.
