4 Overall Series Smut Scale Stars

First off, let's just address the fact that I am complete smut-whore and binged six of this nine book series in less than 48 hours and wrote exactly ZERO actual reviews for any of said books.

description

But, it's fine. I had waaaay more important things to do. Things like sleeping, eating Ben & Jerry's Phish Food, and completely ignoring my treadmill while watching Tik Tok dance videos on Instagram. Proving that, no matter how old and "mature" (which, let's be honest, is debatable here) you are, you can still find endless new ways to completely waste your time.

But I digress.

This will act as the review for this couple's trilogy (books 7-9).

I really enjoyed this series and I think Kardos and Shaya might take 2nd place in Val's Top Omegaverse Couple Awards (first place will always go to my Shepherd and Claire, sorry folks). Kardos was all perfect growly Alphahole and Shaya was all sweet and sisterly.

Their chemistry (a make or break element of any and all romance/smut novels, in my opinion) was fantastic and I also really liked the backdrop of the Southern Isles. It was very "Winter is Coming."

description

With less grimace.

But anyway.

I can see myself re-reading this over and over and probably upgrading the entire trilogy up to five stars at some point.

TL;DR: If you love omegaverse, you would love this. Or have probably already read it, let's be real.

They have quite the adventure returning back to their tribe, that frozen land. They learn to speak to each other and there a lot of make up sex.

This was a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Both characters made mistakes in their relationship, both characters made assumptions and both struggled with understanding the other. But they communicated, initially through "dreams" and later face to face.

The author didn't drag out the lack of communication and misunderstandings, she didn't try for unnecessary angst. She wrote a story of self discovery and genuine love. Their emotions felt real, I totally bought into their love for one another, and Kardos is a deliciously dreamy dominant alpha male without being an ass.

Well, I have now completed this series. The writing and story telling just gets better and better, I loved these books and thought the stories were well thought out and excellent world building. Definitely I am a fan of this author and I really appreciate her work ethic to complete these stories and to complete each book, it can't be easy but it shows real respect to her readers to complete these books and not leave people hanging, thank you for that.

2 meh stars for a super rushed shark jumpy conclusion.

First and foremost I'd like to thank...The skimming.
Oh my goodness if it wasn't for the skimming- finishing this wouldn't have been possible.
The deep dives into other characters I couldn't of cared less about.
The filler comprised of tons of cameos- made by characters who already had completed stories (fully) focused on them.
The crazy detours, and the odd justifications for bad behavior (which I honestly already should've seen coming) like in the first book. There is no ah-ha sweet epiphany/justification when someone is being awful to you. I know I'm probably in the minority here- but my reaction to the saccharine-sweet odd admissions were less *swoon* and more WTF. Then! There's a lot of last minute drama thrown in on TOP of an overly rushed time-jumping swiss cheesy (due to so many holes) ending.
I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum but yeah....this felt a lot like a GOT finale.
I can't be mad at how this consumed my COVID time, but I seriously wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they were ONLY looking for ways to move the clock.

1/31/2020 An amazing read, probably one of the best series I've ever read! I especially enjoyed the characters and the story line from the last three books, cannot wait to read them again. I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys Alpha/Omega or barbarian type books (like Kristen Ashley's Golden Dynasty) to read this series, it is fantastic!

Thanks so much to the author for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

First I have to say this series was fantastic and I devoured all nine books. The Alpha and Omega type novels of the heterosexual kind are very few in numbers and some of my favorite type of books. If your looking to get lost in a brazen story about an alpha male seeking his mate that won't stay where he put her...this is it.

I loved Kardos and Shaya's story best because she was able to turn the tables on him repeatedly. I doubt very seriously that Kardos would have gained anything without the strength of Shaya and this ending proves it. She was so strong to get through all the cultural and language barriers and still defied Kardos. She had a huge strength of character that made her feel like his match even though he still filled her Alpha needs. For me, this story was what a true Alpha and Omega are capable of.

I am really sad though that the author feels the need to end this series since it was beautifully done. I look forward to see what Zoey Ellis does when she steps outside her omegaverse box. Until then... great series!

I gave the entire series a five star of excellence! I loved them all!

Well this wrapped everything up, she finally understood her Alpha and her Alpha finally explained the way he was, the reason why he was so tough on her....he's land is harsh and she needed to become strong. I loved how The Lands People took to Shaya:)

Unfortunately, the series kind of went out on a whimper for me. So much of this book is wasted on a silly misunderstanding that, honestly, doesn't ever feel resolved effectively. Kardos just says the same things he said before, but Shaya is somehow suddenly convinced he did the right thing with no new information.

description

After spending 50% of the book listening to Shaya whine about missing Kardos and then proclaiming vehemently to her sister that she must leave him, he finally gets her back. Then they return to the Southern Islands amidst some blizzards. There's some silly dog rescue stuff that seems unnecessary to the plot, and then Kardos and Shaya are attacked. The reason for the attack is just kind of cheeseball. I'm pretty sure I groaned out loud while reading how a bunch of plot points were coming together.

description

I really didn't like the ending. It was just a mash of stuff with no real point. I guess it's all to set up more books, but it didn't work well for me.

Overall, the trilogy was OK. I really liked Shaya and Kardos, but the story just didn't end up having the oomph or steam that the first two trilogies did.

i loved this story and the MC's. however, the author dropped the ball with this finale. it could have been longer and contained more drama. i was not feeling it the way i felt the first 2 books of their story..

Is there a word for the melancholy you feel when finishing a series? I feel that right now.

I loved these last 3 books (the Own trilogy) more than any of the others. In fact, this is probably going to be one of my favorite smut-series that I will re-read an unhealthy number of times.

From the culture of the Southern Lands, to the characters themselves, this series is delicious. I really liked the love interest (Kardos), but I loved the heroine, Shaya.

"Strong female leads" have become so common in nearly every genre, that they sort of blend together. Shaya is written as a strong heroine, but in a different way than the stereotypical "I'm super badass in all of the ways, have no weaknesses, and am also lo-key a master of krav maga and magical badasserie."

There are other forms of strength and this series demonstrated that magnificently.

Zoey Ellis crushed this.

Now I remember why I stopped reading this series - I expect the MMC to at least apologize, if not grovel after everything he’s put the FMC through to this point. I expect some self-reflection from the MMC and a change in the behaviour to at least compromise with the FMC needs and point of view.

Instead, it’s a “let me explain it to you slower” situation until the FMC realizes that MMC’s reasons should take precedence over anything she’s grown up to think, feel, and understand. I hated it!

This book was missing the addictive pacing that occurred in books 1 & 2 and I thought the other plots were resolved badly.

Once again Zoey Ellis delivers an outstanding breathtaking installment of the thrilling Myth of Omega series. In this conclusion of the Southern Lands trilogy Shaya is struggling to accept her conflicting feelings towards Kardos. She wants to believe it is only the bond that makes her feel attached to Kardos and not her real true feelings. As much as this is a time for Shaya to explore her deeply seeded feelings, it is also a time of self-reflection for Kardos. He must understand what his Omega needs aside from sexual physical gratification of being bonded. The fact that she is willing to go to extremes to escape him is an eye-opener making him feel the loss of the bond and his mate.

In addition to the complexities between Shaya and Kardos, Kyus, Shaya’s older sister, pops back in. We learn more about her role in Shaya’s personal development. We experience a different side of the sisters’ relationship and even a bit of role reversal. We learn more about Kardos’ lineage and some very interesting plot twists that keep you hanging on this exhilarating ride. Cameos from characters of previous trilogies (Crave and Reign) add a bittersweet touch to this grand finale to an addictive series.

Great series! If you are into werewolves, brute men, Vikings and lots of smut read these! Nice plot that had originality which was refreshing! Can’t wait to read more from this author. Book 2 kinda threw me through a loop but this one tied everything nicely together. Solid 4 stars.

Good book

This was a good book. I felt this series was short. But then I realized it just went fast. Shaya does start off annoying in the series but she definitely grows up.

Be aware that this is the third book in the trilogy and it doesn't work unless you've read the 2 prior books. This is also book 9 in the overall story. Each trilogy stands more or less alone but you'll be so grateful if you take my advice and read them all in a binge. All the books up until now have been awesome and this one is no different. Often by the time a series has been developed this far, there is some loss of tension, excitement and/or loss of oomph. This does NOT happen in this series. Each trilogy and each couple is different in both attitude and life experiences and has their own journey but do read The "Own Trilogy" in order. Own to Obey sets the scene, introduces the characters and begins their journey. Own to Obsess continues the story and allows the characters evolve and this is the book that ties up Kardos and Shaya's story.

Kardos and Shaya are realistically written. They are products of their world. The characters are well developed and while not always likeable (an understatement in places), they are definitely shaped by their circumstances. Zoey Ellis has imagined a world where might is right and power is to be taken and held. Her Alphas are dangerous, hard, obsessive and driven. The mates they choose meet their "ideal". Every Alpha wants an Omega but Omegas aren't easily found and aren't easily caged. And none of them know how joining together will change the characters, the relationship and the world they live in. Even the Omegas themselves don't know how working together will change everything.

Kardos takes what he wants and knows that being strongest is best. He is focused, believes absolutely that he is right in all things and expects everyone to fall into line with his plan. He expects Shaya to do so as well. Shaya has been taught to hide and fear the Alphas and just wants to be free, but much of the history has fallen into the unknown so they are all having to blaze a path. Until recently Omegas were more of a myth than an actual person.

I love these stories because everything "works". The characters stay true to form, the situations they find themselves in feel realistic (for the world they live in) and the main characters are smart and capable. They have all been taught what "normal" is and none of them make any attempt to deny fate until fate brings them a mate and everything they thought they knew disappears. Kardos and Shaya are both complete people the reader gets to know and understand. If only they could understand as well as we do. But they have never had to look at things differently. Now different is the only way they can prosper or maybe even survive. They complement each other and both learn and grow. We also saw cameos from the "Crave Trilogy" and the "Reign Trilogy". These are great stories - a fabulous trilogy and a wonderful series.

Grab the books, hide away and start reading - you'll love the story, the characters and they way they evolve is wonderful to behold. Highly recommended. You won't want to stop so block out the time. Even if you've read these before, there is so much layered into the books that you'll catch things you missed the first time. Definitely well worth a re-read. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

“Myth of Omega” is Zoey Ellis’s Omega-verse series. The author has developed what has become a signature format for this series following a single couple/story arch across three books. As of this review she has now penned the love stories of three couples (x3 books each series) published across a total of 9 unique titles. With one Novella thrown in for a total of 9.5 titles.

Myth of Omega’s third and final x3 book installment is titled “Own.” Before i roll into a quick summary of the plot
a) it is recommended to read all books but it is possible to read just one 3 book arch.
b) if you had to choose just one couple/book set the third one is by far the best of the three.

Once again the next series of books follows characters briefly introduced in the previous books. Alpha Shinno Kardos had traveled to the west from his harsh homelands in the southern isles to trade skilled warriors to King Malloron. Observing Malloron discover his Omega Kados folds obtaining an Omega for the south into the negotiations.

Shaya’s our omega heroine turns out to be that omega. Malloron is at first unaware of Shaya’s existence offering Kados her older sister to fulfill the deal. To save her sister Shaya sacrifices herself. In my opinion this is the genesis of why the third trio of books are superior. Our heroine is sweet and she is someone you root for through each obstacle faced.

The alpha Kardos comes across as a “know-it-all” in the least and a “raging jerk” at worst. We eventually learn more about his motivations and Kardos grows as a character. He learns that people can’t read your mind, that your intentions are not always obvious and if you don’t explain yourself you can come across as a jerk. Especially when cultural differences are thrown in. We also get to see Kardos having to deal with the ramifications of his actions. Work hard to earn back returning to good standing in the affections of his omega our heroine and grovel. No we don’t need to kick someone when they are down, but I hate it when a book glosses over someone’s being a big “A,” with all forgiven with barely an apology. Not the case here.

I recommend the whole 9 book series but especially the Own final 3 book installment. Enjoy. Happy reading.

Well, I wont lie to you. This book just wasn't as good as I was expecting. And it really ended on a low note.

So let me start by saying this book started off really well. It was suspenseful, and I really couldn't wait to see were things went with Shaya and Kardos. I'd say the suspense and action between Shaya and Kardos happens the first 40 to 50 percent of the book.

And it's delicious. Kardos is just so yummy. And even though he can be an ass sometimes, I found myself forgiving him pretty easily right along with Shaya. His arguments and actions (in the end) are sound, but it's clear that communication is his biggest flaw as a character. But it's after these events that the story starts to dwindle a little. At this point it seemed as if the author didn't have a clear goal of what she wanted to do with the story. So she just did a little bit of everything.

This made the last half of the book seem really choppy and sloppy. You see Kardos and Shaya go through some things that make them grow a little bit as a couple, but no near as much as they should.

Similar to what happened in the second arc of this series, their insanely strong attraction kinda fixes everything, but they never really connect like I wanted them to. It's more of a, "Well, I can't be without you, so here I am" kinda thing.

Not only that, but the ending felt abrupt and there are some loose ends that are left untied.

Namely, Kardos' dad and mother's story, which is strongly hinted at in the end. Still, this was a good read. Cailyn and Drocco still remain my favorite couple of the series. They had the best story and the best connection as a couple. And although I absolutely loved Kardos in these last three books, Shaya was a little "meh" for me. She wasn't really impressionable as a character. 3 stars.

fantastic series

Shaya has had a quiet life with her sister until her king had too settle a debt so he offered an omega Kyrs her sister for settlement to Kardos the shinno from tribe Nyke but Shayla just couldn't let her sister be taken away to another land so she offers herself in place.
Kardos asks to ensure that she is an omega and they ensured that she is but they give blockers. So Shayla is wisked away onto a strange ship with a strange huge warrior although she thinks that he's handsome in a rough way. Kardos was supremely pleased with her and got her on the ship but he is an alpha who's drawn to omegas strongly, but the ship has many alpha warriors so he grabs her and takes her to a secure place but can't control himself with the strong smells of Shayla her tosses her into the bed and falls on top of her she struggles with him knowing that he can do whatever he wants with her but not so soon! Kardos takes her roughly and tastes every bit of her body licking her and sucking her juices like candy. Shayla is a virgin and although he's rough on a strange level she's turned on and it scares her because she has no idea how an omega would act or why her body is acting so strange. This continues throughout their relationship and journey Shayla is treated like a slave scrubbing 🧽 pipes on the ship and made to learn the new language Mayuos from Treska and their culture and how to take car of a warrior (Karlos) but every time she does it wrong she is punished harshly by him and she doesn't understand why? Karlos is the head shinno and his tribe hasn't had an Omega for decades so she's special but he's drawn to her and can't seem to stop, his enjoyment of her body at night but is leaving her to learn his cultural background so when she arrives she will be ready for the harsh reality of their environment which is cold and dangerous he also knows that he will have to give her up when they arrive and as time goes on his attachment begins to be more difficult and denies any male near her and gets violent. Shayla doesn't understand anything that he's doing to her? She's having rough sexual encounters with Karlos but he's taking her out on the deck of the ship to enjoy the sea? Yet if she doesn't do a task correctly she is tossed into a totally dark small room with nothing and her wrists tied together. She's screaming and clawing everything to try and get out because she has too be closed up. But Karlos has an agenda and is set on teaching her inordinately hard customs so when they arrive he can show them that he did his job properly getting her ready even sexually. His goal is too become the high chief to replace his father. But when they arrive and Karlos is expected to give up Shayla he's overtaken by his inability to give her up because he knows that she's his and he'll never ket her go

**** First and foremost, let me say this book is not only part of a series, but also part of a trilogy and should not be read before at least reading "Own To Obey" and "Own To Obsess" as this is the conclusion to Kardos and Shaya's story ****

Now, as for my feelings about this book, as badly as I wanted to read it (if you have read the previous books, you will know what I mean), it was a bitter-sweet moment when I started it, knowing that this was not only the last book in the trilogy but also the final book of the series – a series I have been totally addicted to from the start. It starts off from where Shaya (the Omega) has managed to break the bond and flee from the Southern Lands but she is ambivalent at best as to what she should do next – should she return to Kardos or keep running? Kardos is fuming at the loss of his Omega and it is written in such a way that you can actually FEEL the emotions coming from the pages.

The author is a master of writing the perfect anti-hero and Kardos is no different. He is a true Omegaverse Alpha in my eyes – hard, demanding, dominant and punishing. He is also jealous and possessive, and will do anything to get his Omega back. In this book, we learn more about Kardos and yes, if you hated him in the previous books, you will love him in this one. He grows in personality and redeems himself in making himself vulnerable for the first time – a scene where I couldn’t help but shed a couple of tears.

I also really enjoyed the appearance made by alphas from the previous books in this series (Drocco and Malloron) and of course, as with the other trilogies, there are a couple of twists in this book to make things even more interesting.

The writing is phenomenal, the story passionate. It is a fast-burn Omegaverse / Paranormal / Fantasy Romance written from a dual pov with no cheating and ends in a hea. I HIGHLY recommend not only this book but the entire series to all lovers of Omegaverse, dark romance and anyone who just wants to "feel" when reading a book - though not recommended for persons under the age of 18.

I will seriously be holding not only my thumbs but all fingers and toes that the author will decide to continue with this incredible, unique and addictive series. Until then, I foresee many re-reads in the future...

❤️Thoughts❤️

Can’t say this enough—I absolutely loved this series and this book!

We pick up right where Book 2 left off, and to put it mildly, Shaya is furious. She confides in her sister about everything that’s happened—including the fact that Kardos is her fated mate. At first, her sister seems to realize that Shaya might just be overwhelmed and misunderstanding the nature of Alphas. But instead of helping her understand, she pushes that aside and focuses on keeping her hidden from Kardos.

Now, the first few chapters of their escape were frustrating, mainly because I’m not a fan of Shaya’s sister. She never properly taught Shaya about her true nature as an Omega or the dynamics of Alphas, which just makes everything more complicated. Meanwhile, Kardos is literally storming through kingdoms searching for her, and she doesn’t yet realize just how special she is to him. He loves her in the only way he knows—intensely and all-consuming.

Once Kardos finally confesses his feelings to her (which will make you love him even more), they make up and return home to face the brutal blizzards of their land. But I won’t spoil anything else, because the second half of this book was my absolute favorite. A massive secret is unraveled, leading to some shocking twists, a dangerous new land, and a fight for survival. And amidst all of this, something incredible happens that completely changes everything.

The ending? Perfection. I just didn’t want this book to end! If anything, I wish the epilogue had been longer—but only because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.

Also, that little easter egg about Akoro? If you blink, you’ll miss it!

Highly recommend!
