Falling for your best friend couldn't get any sweeter.

Tall, handsome, and eternally optimistic Noah has dated a string of gorgeous women. His best friend Elle has outlasted them all. Of course, he has no idea she's been in love with him for years. Why would he? It's not like she's going to tell him. After all, she's short and awkward, and as he's fond of reminding her, has a sour disposition.

When Elle takes off on her annual ten-day vacation with her family, Noah comes to a startling realization. She's the woman who is by his side day in and day out, whose office is across the hall, and whose house is around the corner. She has called him on his shit when he gets too cocky, and he has held her in her arms when her heart was broken. Absence must make the heart grow fonder because while she's in Germany with her parents, he realizes that everything he has ever wanted was right there all along. Now he's on a mission to make her realize that romance won't ruin their friendship, but platonic friendship is ruining their relationship.

This funny, sexy, slow-burn romance will have you laughing, cheering, and rooting for adorable Elle and hot, swoon-worthy Noah. Full of heart, laughs, and plenty of heat, if you like feisty heroines, hot, yummy heroes, or sweet and sour treats, you'll love following Elle and Noah's will they-won't they road to romance.

Sour was so.... sweet and completely devastating. I had to stop reading it at work on my lunch break because I thought I was going to cry!
Elle and Noah were amazing characters and when I started reading I had visions of this being a light, sweet, happy best friends to lovers romance.
Boy was I wrong! Sour took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Giddy giggling to a borderline anxiety attack.
I completely fell in love with this book and these characters. Wow! Just amazing!!!

Sour is a friends-to-lovers story that is filled with swoon worthy moments that are going to keep you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet Ariel (Elle) Bailey who has been away in Germany for her family’s yearly family adventure. With no phones, computers or any other kind of technology to keep in touch, Elle finds herself missing her best friend, Noah. Having been best friends for six years, the two have developed a really close friendship over time. They have each other’s house keys and even work in the same company with desks right across from each other. But having that type of relationship can often times lead to developing deeper feelings for the other person. In this case, Elle has been crushing over her best friend for some time now. It took a bad break up to make her see that Noah will always have her back no matter what and she has seen him in a different way ever since. She wants to see him happy, but wishes it could be with her. But a trip to Las Vegas is about to make things that much more difficult as feelings are revealed and they have to figure out what to do next.

Noah Adler has moved a lot in his lifetime. There hasn’t been anything constant in his life. except for Elle. She has been there ever since they met and it is her fiery personality that makes him fall in love with her. He knows that she still sees him as a player, but a trip to Las Vegas is the perfect place to tell her how he feels. Except things go majorly wrong and he’ll have to convince her that she is his forever before it’s too late.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. The beginning completely sucked me in as the scenes were swoon worthy and funny. Noah is the perfect guy that anyone would want to have as a friend/lover. He is incredibly sweet and caring towards Elle that makes him that much more lovable. On the other hand, Elle is kind and has a fiery personality. She is also insecure and that’s one of things that she needs to overcome in the story as well. It’s evident that both of them have obstacle to overcome, but I still managed to find Elle a bit of a frustrating character to read. Her insecurities were amplified that it was hard to enjoy the romance between the characters. That was just one part, but the ending was great. It was sweet and it came full circle which I liked. All in all, if you are looking for a good friends-to-lovers story then I would highly recommend checking out this book. You are going to enjoy it! :)

Elle and Noah have been best friends for six years. He has been by her side through all the ups and down but it is when she is away for a while vacationing with her parents that Germany that she realizes it is love. The only problem is that she doesn’t believe that she is worthy of a man like Noah and that he would ever see her as more than a friend.

Noah never realized until they were apart how big a part of his life that Elle was. When she was away all he wanted was to be close to her and share what was happening in both their lives. He now knows that he is in love with his best friend and is determined to prove to her that they belong together.

This is a slow burning friends to lovers story filled with witty banter. Although Noah may seem a little pushy at times it offsets Elle’s self doubts which makes them the perfect pair. Their journey was far from easy but the ending made it all worthwhile.

Suh-woon. This guy! Noah Adler. First of all, I wish I had a BFF like him. Willing to clean your apartment when you come home from a trip, buy you pastries daily, BUY YOU A FREAKING HOUSE?!? I mean this guy. Now Elle? I get it, she's scared to lose her best friend but to run across the planet because you're scared of taking a leap of faith even though you admit to having feelings for Noah. Girl, come on. She made me want to bop her on the head.

I loved this book. Will definitely be checking out her others! Also, I kinda want some gummy bears.

My English review

Jennifer Woodhull is an author I didn’t know about and I was curious to discover this novel after reading the synopsis.

Elle has a crush on her best friend Noah. However, it’s not easy, because he’s there all the time and she’s thinking more and more about him. However, she knows that admitting her feelings to him could ruin everything, and she is not ready to lose him. But Noah, too, has just realized on his side that he has feelings for her. But unlike his friend, our hero is determined to tell Elle how he feels, and especially to show her that for her, he would abandon his habit of jumping from one girl to another to finally settle down. He is determined and he is ready to do anything to make her succumb to his charms and make her realize that he is the one for her.

I had a good time with these two characters. We alternate between the two characters to see what they think and how they react to each other’s actions. It was a nice novel even if I admit that if we fall under Noah’s spell very quickly, Elle has very frustrating reactions! However, I also enjoyed seeing them evolve with each other and I finally had a good and light moment with the story.

Disclaimer: This review MAY contain spoilers.

This is an adorable friends-to-lovers romance. I liked the themes addressed in this book.

The characters were okay. I started out really liking them and then I ended up being somewhere in the middle. Not hating them, but not loving them either. I enjoyed reading about them well enough while I was reading the book because they were entertaining. I don't necessarily think that they are memorable though. The thing that I had an issue with while reading this was the two main characters' voices. At first, I enjoyed their voices. I liked their personalities and I was able to grasp their motivations quickly. The characters weren't entirely depthless, but it felt like the majority of the book was them internally monologuing about being in love with the other. I mean, people think about other things in their lives even when they are in love. It made the plot seem a little too forced for my liking. Other than that, I liked the plot overall. The pacing was good and the story unfolded well.

I enjoyed the side characters in this one. I loved Elle's family and I would have loved to read more about her brother. I also really liked Ian's character.

The romance was decent, but I honestly would have liked more physical moments between the two main characters. I think that the author did an excellent job of writing their close relationship. These two have been best friends for six years and it is evident in the writing. Their deep connection really rings true, but it sadly only ever felt like friendship. Sure, they both wanted the other, but the romantic chemistry felt off. It didn't pack that punch that I was looking for. The romance worked, but it could have been way more passionate.

I ultimately really liked the way the ending played out. It was satisfying and it honestly surprised me. I wasn't expecting everything to work out the way that it did.

I was a little disappointed with the editing of the book. There were so many punctuation and spelling errors that my head started to spin as a result. It's not a super huge thing normally, but the frequency was astounding to me.

Overall, this is a delightful, fast-paced friends-to-lovers romance that was entertaining and kept my interest. It has a hero that knows what he wants and a heroine that learns to embrace her fears and let go of her insecurities to get her happily ever after.

Jennifer Woodhull has quickly entered my mental list of romance authors who make my heart happy.

Sour is not your typical rom-com. Although Sour begins Ariel and Noah's story the way most friends-to-lovers do (i.e. one or both vying for the other but too scared to cross the line), it becomes so much more with a few unexpected twists and turns along the way.

I really love Ariel and Noah together but I also enjoy them apart as two separate individuals. Ariel goes on a journey of self discovery. In the beginning, Ariel lacks a little confidence due to events in her past. She is not comfortable in her own skin. She doesn't fully accept herself nor does she know how high she can reach until she is "forced" to do so. I love watching characters develop in stories. I love being able to route for them, to cheer them on, to watch them come into his or her own.

Noah, on the other hand, is a little of the opposite. He is confident and a little cocky. Sans spoilers, when Noah gets kicked off his own proverbial pedestal, his perspective is quite refreshing. A lot, not all, of male characters in romances do not get super emotional but Noah does. He gets raw. He digs down deep to find his mistakes. And in all that rawness, readers will see Noah's character grow too.

Jennifer Woodhull is quite funny and quite clever. One of my many favorite lines is Noah's "boner-killer"mantra (can I say that in a review?) ......it includes the mathematical ratio of Pi....3.141459265359! I may be a book blogger but I am also a math nerd. And that mantra was just simply the best.

Another example of Jennifer's creativity is the ending which revolves around a "citrus situation". A citrus situation in a book titled, Sour!?!?!?! That is so ridiculously funny and so extremely clever that it made my heart happy and put a huge smile on my face. In fact, the whole book did...It's funny. It's pure. It's emotional. It's an HEA. If you are looking for a great romantic comedy this summer, read Sour.

As a fan of friends to lovers romances I gobbled this one up. From the first page to the last I discovered many charming moments in a tale that made me smile. From its sweet and sensual banter to its laugh out loud interactions the main couple of this story shined and kept me fully invested in their slow-burn romance. Was it a perfect romance? No it wasn’t, as it went on a bit too long and showed its main couple to be a bit too overreactive at times. Despite these small issues though I still enjoyed this book and can still picture these two friends as a very happy couple.

Elle Bailey considers Noah Adler her best friend, the one person always on her mind and the first person she wants to share things with. After a recent trip abroad, one that left her unable to communicate with Noah, she realizes that things have gotten even more intense between them. For her, friendship has evolved into love...but it’s a love she’s afraid to voice as she doesn’t think she’s worthy of this sweet and sexy man. Her low self-esteem is holding her back and leaves readers hanging on in anticipation as Noah makes his burgeoning feelings quite clear throughout the story. Elle’s a likable heroine who loves her family and whose interactions with them were endearing. She’s a funny heroine too, one who’s flippant and quick to laugh at herself. She’s someone you can see yourself being fiends with and I was rooting for her every step of the way to see herself as wonderful as Noah sees her.

Noah’s a delicious hero, one whose feelings for his friend caught him by surprise. He’s always felt close to Elle but her recent time away makes him realize just how important she’s become to him and how desperate he is to claim her as his own. In some ways Noah’s plans for Elle and their future are a bit overbearing, a bit too presumptive, but his joy in wanting to make her feel cherished was equally endearing. Once he realized his feelings he was set on his path, methodically going through each step in the path to HEA that he just needed to convince her of. Though it’s a bumpy ride to HEA, it’s one that made me smile in a pairing that crackled.

On a whole this was a delightful tale that was a slow-burn full of sweet and sexy interactions. The story may have started out carefree but when their feelings were finally revealed the story took on a more heartfelt turn that invested me even more fully in each word and deed. This was my first time reading a book from Ms. Woodhull, but definitely won’t be my last due to her clever crafting of friends becoming lovers!

A new to me author, another new author to start following!!

This is a story of friendship, this is a story of love and hope and also about fear, fear of the unknown and fear of change.

This is the story of Elle and Noah, best friends, ride or die friends.  When does friendship develop into more? Read this story and see how it unfolds.

This story gave me all the feels.  It was filled with heart, heat, a bit of angst and hope.  A prefect cocktail for a love story.

Elle is independent and fiery.  She is also vulnerable and was hit with some self esteem issues that most women have.  Am I enough?  I could empathize completely!

Noah, oh my me....what a dreamboat! Swooniness personified! But he too has his fears and uncertainties.

Noah and Elle's progression in their relationship flows brilliantly! I couldn't put this story down.  Just when I thought, YES, YES! Ms. Woodhull would bring a bit of a twist and made you crave to read more!

I cannot wait to read some of Ms. Woodhull's previous stories and see what comes from her next! Loved this story!

This book has the two sweetest best friends in the world. I loved this book sooooo much, while it was fun, sweet, adorable, it was also devastatinggggggg. I was soooooooooo upset, I literally had to pause, close my kindle, take a few breaths and then finish. Jennifer gutted me with that part of the book. Like, what happened??? But in order to get to their happily ever after, there has to be some conflict right?

I LOVE Noah. I can't even tell you how much. Total book boyfriend material. Elle and Noah share a connection but they've been best friends for years. Always in each others lives the most important to each other. Noah is waking up after Elle being gone for a family vacation. He realizes his feelings for Elle and is trying to get her to see him as more than a friend. The quirks they know about each other, the predictability of each other before they're going to do the must mundane things, adorable. The time they spend together doing nothing, really sweet. I loved this book. This was my second read from Jennifer and I loved it.

This was a cute and funny friends to lovers romance and I give it a 3.5 outta 4 side with leaning closer to the 4 stars, but not quite there. I enjoyed the read, but I felt as if I could not connect the female lead which is just my personal opinion!

With friends to lovers I feel as if there has to be a great story line on how all of a sudden two platonic friends start having feelings for each other and Jennifer Woodhull did a great job of growing that lust/love and transitioning Elle and Noah's feelings over. I was really impressed with how she did so!

Noah is an awesome male lead, I freaking adored being inside of his head and getting to know this great guy and he really was exactly what Elle needed both as a friend but also as more.

I did enjoy reading this as it had some super sweet moments as well as steamy and then funny moments too!

PS: I received this book for free but am honestly and voluntarily reviewing it!

I really enjoyed sour by Jennifer Woodhull, it was my first time reading from this author and have to say I will definitely be reading from her again. I really enjoyed Elle and Noah’s character and their friendship and how the story came to together, I had some laugh out loud moments and some awww nooooo you can’t do that!!! Moments throughout the story.

My rating for Sour by Jennifer woodhull is a solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it would of been 5 but I found some spelling mistakes or words missing throughout although this never stopped me from turning the pages and devouring the book.

I want to say thank you to inkslinger for allowing me to be apart of the blog tour and to the author Jennifer woodhull for allowing me to read and review.

Sour is a friends to lovers romance, a lovely afternoon read.

It's not terribly long and the story is intriguing enough. Elle frustrated me just a tad, but that's me being too eager and hating conflict. I was really proud of her character development, and I'm glad things ended the way they did.

I think it's important to see characters my age not have to choose love or career, and this story balances those conflicts nicely.

Cute spin

Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite troupes!! I love how the author really showed Elle and Noah’s friendship and the humor around it. I felt like I was right there in Vegas and more with these two.

I am a total fan of this author and will say one of my favorite things is the settings she paints. You literally feel like you are right there with said couple. There are so much details and information about the settings and travels.

If your scene is best friends to lovers, you have to try Sour!!

Elle and Noah have been best friend’s for 6 years and she has always loved him but never really thought she had any chance. Noah has recently discovered hiw perfect she is for him even with her sour personality. I really lived this book in the beginning but after Noah revealed his feelings to Elle i found i was really upset with how she handled everything she was absolutely horrible to him but it work out in the end.

Sour is a friends to lovers story, which is one of my favorite storylines. Jennifer Woodhull never disappoints with her books, they only keep getting better and better. Noah and Ariel are such sweet and fun characters and you can’t help but fall in love with their wit and connection. This is a slow-burn like no other, but this is a journey worth traveling just to see their HEA❤️

When I saw that Jennifer Woodhull was coming out with another book this year I squealed. I was so excited after reading her earlier release this year In Other Words (Review HERE). Loved that story and I couldn't wait to read more from her.
Elle and Noah have known each other for a long time. They've been best friends since college and have been through it all together. When Elle's latest boyfriend dumps her and she runs to Noah for comfort, it changes everything for both of them. Now Noah is trying to convince Elle that they're meant for each other and Elle is running, afraid that everything her ex told her is true and that Noah will get bored of her.

I liked Noah and Elle's love story. It was very cute, down-to-earth, and relatable. Noah was my absolute favorite character in this story. Especially with his great love of sour gummies! I felt for his character and found myself rooting for him the whole story.
Sour was a very funny and engaging read. If I had any complaints it would be Elle. Her character
makes some decisions that honestly had me so frustrated. I was very annoyed with how she was acting. It honestly made no sense to me. I don't want to spoil anything, but seriously it got a bit old after a couple of chapters. I understood where some of it was coming from, but honestly, it just got old very quickly for me.

Sour is a cute read about two best friends falling in love. The pacing of this story was really well done. Despite the annoyingness of Elle, I enjoyed the characters for the most part. The story while not completely original, did some fun and interesting things that put a twist on an already amazing trope.

3.5 Stars!

This was my very first Jennifer Woodhull book and while I had a hard time connecting with our two main characters (it's a me, not you kind of thing!), the premise was a really good idea and the execution was... steady.

Best friends to lovers.. a sweeter, easier romance that'll have you whizzing through the pages.. Jennifer gives her readers a romance that was slow burning for the most part then lightening speed fast to the end.

When Elle goes on a family vacation cut off from communication, Noah realizes he misses her and not just in the friend kind of way. No, Noah realizes he likes, likes Elle (and honestly he already loves her) a whole heck of a lot but getting her to see that? A challenge in itself. Why? Because Elle has kept her true feelings locked down and is determined Noah would never see her that way. But with each passing second between them, well it's getting a bit more complicated. And one trip together is going to change... everything.

This book has some good laughs and quite the story to tell. Give it a try and I definitely plan to check out her backlist.

Hi Friends,
Unfortunately this wasn't for me. This was a friends to lovers romance novel and I am usually the one who is all about this genre, like I still am just this story did not work for m, I am weird. The characters were okay, I started out liking the characters, then some how that fizzled out for me. For me the story was not memorable, like if some one would ask me what was this about and how did you like it from today onward I wouldn't be able to tell them much, does that make sense. There was not a lot of physical moments between the couple, which was annoying. yes you knew they were best mates, but maybe they should have stayed that way. I dunno that seemed mean to say, They have been friends for 6 or so years, you could tell there connection friendship was true. But for me there romantic chemistry felt weird. I wanted more PASSION. I think if you can not connect with the characters, it so hard to connect with the story. You win some and then you lose some. Also that Inner monologue was way too much for me, it was repetitive and frustrating. I almost DNF this book.

Sour has one of my favorite romance tropes - friends to lovers.

The story starts with Elle being away in a family trip in Germany with no technology, finding herself missing her best friend, Noah. They have been friends for like six years. Elle starts to fall for him when he's taken care of her during her break-up. Little does she know that Noah has fallen in love with her too. Noah wants to step up and confess his feelings for her. So he decides to do it during their trip to Vegas.

I loved their friendship. Both of them are sweet characters. Noah has to be my favorite. He cleans her house and his care towards Elle and her family makes him a swoon worthy hero.
I loved how it started and traveled. There are some bumpy parts and I felt irritated when Elle couldn't see past her insecurities. Their chemistry didn't do the magic. It's an okayish read for me.

Slow burning + Friends to lovers + HEA

Noah and Elle have been best friends for years. They both also are secretly attracted to each other but haven't acted on their feelings. Noah is ready to take a chance, though, and wants Elle to know he loves her.

There were some cute moments in this book, but I didn't connect with either character. Though his heart was in the right place Noah made a number of big assumptions about how Elle would feel when he told her his feelings had changed. He threw a lot at her all at once even with some previous signs their relationship was changing.

I understood Elle's doubts and insecurities, but after awhile her inner monologue felt repetitive. She made some decisions too that while frustrating did seem true to her character. I do wish, though, it had been wrapped up a bit faster.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Friends to lovers romance. Sour is a friends to lovers romance. There was some humor and heat in this book. While I wanted to love this book, I just didn't. It was a good read, but wasn't a favorite of mine.

The plot of this story was intriguing. I like a good friends to lovers romance just as much as the next. However, this story felt a bit forced for me. The characters were good, but I wasn't necessarily rooting for them. While the heat was great, I am not quite sure how I felt about the rest of the story.

In conclusion, I liked the story well enough, but it had some minor issues for me. While I didn't love this story, it was still entertaining. I enjoyed the humor and overall ending.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I love a friends to lovers trope, so I thought this would be right up my alley. I thought the writing and pace were good but, unfortunately, I did not like these characters at all. Noah was, in my opinion, super forward, pushy and presumptuous. On the other hand, Elle had absolutely no self confidence and ran away from any conflict. While there was certainly steam, the relationship felt very forced to me. I just couldn’t get invested in their relationship. I’m certainly in the minority about this, and others will probably enjoy this one especially if you like friends to lovers tropes.

Well written but...

I really wish I could say I loved this book, but I just can't. Objectively, I can say it is well written. I really didn't care for the female lead, Elle, though. I liked her at first, but as the book went on, her actions just annoyed me. She has the man of her dreams offering her everything, but chooses to run across the world to Australia. She says it's because she couldn't trust that he would stay with her forever, but really it's because of her insecurities. At the end, I didn't really feel like she apologized for her actions or learned anything that would help her be a better, happier person. I usually enjoy Jennifer Woodhull's writing, but this just wasn't my cup of tea. Sorry.😕
