4.5 ⭐️This book was definitely paced-a slow, steady pace just as an older, Mexican gentleman would tell the story. I enjoyed the backdrop of history and the cultural nuances. It was a great read!
Intriguing tale of the family and many years of their life. A tale woven with a fictional boy and his bees. I listened as an audio book and once I relaxed and enjoyed the pace of the book, took it for what it was a delicious story with compelling characters. Two particular parts were written and gave such pause to appreciate the characters evolution and and pure sensation. Very interested to hear from this author again.
I'm primarily writing a review because I have the title of the book listed wrong. It is actually The "Murmur" of the Bees, not "Mummer", and it's fantastic. It's an epic family saga set in Mexico in the early 20th century. It's poetic, poignant and wonderfully written. I would highly recommend just make sure to get the right book!
As someone below mentioned this book is actually called the murmur of bees. I thought it was exceptionally well written. It has a real sense of place and the characters are vividly written.
