Happen to receive this review copy from booktasters and got lucky to connect with Snehal -authorpreneur over a brief chat!

Though the book claims to be for budding entrepreneurs, I feel everyone from novice to established entrepreneurs should read this.

I started reading this book with a pre notion of another checklist for entrepreneurs! Ended up loving it for all good vibes and simplicity in writing. The book is your basic progress measure of a business and promotes the idea of self-branding.

Love it a star extra for straight forward language and no entrepreneurship jargons 🌸

Whether we say out loud or stay quiet, but we all indeed need help at some point in our lives. And when it comes to the entrepreneurial journey, we need help whether we ask for it or not. I Work For Me is the real help we all need. It is a very thought-provoking, simple workbook which will make you question things that you have been neglecting until now!

This book is unique as it promotes the idea of SELF-BRANDING in a very peculiar way. The author's, Snehal R. Singh, a unique concept of I.M.BRAND has its meaning which is an excellent initiative of making people understand that every person carries their brand but isn't well aware of it. This book suggests that having a business is not everything, to be successful in that you must treat yourself as a BRAND.
If I have to conclude this book is a must-read for all the business owners, budding entrepreneurs, artists, and even if you find yourself lost in life. The book has a simple language that can be understood by anyone. I Work For Me is a simple but effective CALL-TO-ACTION book.

This book was ok. Personally, it had a lot of religious/faith belief in it that distracted me from the business side of the book, since it is an entrepreneur focused book. Nonetheless, I do understand this is a significant part of her story. The book is easy to read and divided into steps, which can work for many people, but I do believe it lacked creativity. There was nothing different than what I have already heard motivational speakers say. I enjoyed Chapter ‘M’: Measure your day, and there were useful tips for people who need guidance and structure. Overall it has perfect tips on how to start organising yourself and cultural references like Oprah and Priyanka Chopra, which I enjoyed. Overall, it is an excellent simple book to start getting in the mindset of working for yourself. Taking into consideration all that is going on with the health crisis and economic crisis worldwide and the changes in jobs, it is an excellent book to start rethinking the approach to our lives and work life. I would have it as a part of a collection of entrepreneurial books, but in my opinion, it still lacks some depth.

There are probably few things in professional life more frightening that stepping out on your own, especially if you have little to no experience. But that's precisely what Snehal Singh, a self-described black sheep of the family, decided to do.

Safe to say, she made the right choice. And now she wants to help anyone in the same position she was in years ago.

"I write to you, sharing steps and decisions I took, learning how to effectively run a business, even without the conventional education or a family background of business owners," she writes.

"I Work for Me: 7 Steps for Successful Entrepreneurship" breaks down her philosophy into the I.M.B.R.A.N.D. formula, with each letter representing one of the seven steps.

From the beginning, the book travels in unexpected directions. The dedication page reads: "Have you ever had a book dedicated to you? No? Let’s fix that," before displaying a dotted line. The book then opens with Chapter Zero.

Unorthodox, yes. But it also makes "I Work for Me" immediately feel less stuffy and more informal than many business-oriented self-help books. That's not to discount the advice she gives, it's just presented in a more welcoming fashion.

What most stuck out to me in the book is the amount of time she spends offering advice on non-work items. That may seem odd, but it's all related, according to her. You're not going to be productive when you're on the clock unless you properly prepare when you're off. (Similar, I suppose, to how you eat when you're not exercising can play a huge role in your success when you do.)

So there are nearly as many tips on morning rituals, mental exercises, meditation and the like as there are suggestions for marketing yourself and maximizing your productivity when you're working.

Flow isn't nearly as important in a book like this as it would be in a novel, but "I Work for Me" does feel a little list-heavy at times, and that bogs things down a bit. That being said, I'm not exactly the target audience, and having many of the important tidbits of information presented with bullet points will likely help anyone going back time and again to reference the text.

What I most appreciated about this book is the straightforward approach and simple language used. The author does not use complex ideas or concepts to explain her point. The format of the book is easy to read, using plenty of bullet lists. Concepts/phrases are often repeated, which helps drive home the point and ensures greater memory retention.

The author explains her IMBRAND concept in the context of entrepreneurship, but I found her thoughts to be true of any endeavor in life. The step-by-step approach allows you to read the book in parts--and come back to re-read certain sections to refresh your memory.

Priyanka Chopra and Oprah Winfrey are mentioned as role models, and their life's rules are discussed. The author also focuses on the power of gratitude, meditation, journaling, morning rituals, and positive thoughts to help one move ahead in life. She also makes an interesting distinction between the traditional way of socializing and the new-age, digital way of reaching out to people via social media.

What I found disappointing is the constant refrain to "do your own research" without offering many leads. The author mentions SEO, the Johari Window, and books, but does not elaborate much. Instead, she asks the reader to Google these terms if they're not aware of it.

Especially on the section on SEO and social media, I feel she is vague and I would have liked to see more detail on how one can engage with people via social media. I agree the book isn't about either of these topics, but I would have liked pointers to certain Youtube channels or names of certain people to watch out for (since she asks us to watch Youtube videos to learn concepts).

Nevertheless, this book is a good starting point if you want to strike out on your own in the world of business. She is a good motivating, positive voice for people who are not confident about their entrepreneurship abilities.

I Work for Me: 7 Steps for Successful Entrepreneurship by Snehal R. Singh

Snehal R. Singh’s book I Work for Me: 7 Steps for Successful Entrepreneurship is a wonderful handbook for anyone who is self-employed, anyone who wants to start a business, has a project in mind or simply works from home (which a lot of us are doing right now). She gives practical, eye-opening tips, and advice that will lead you to become a more organized, more confident, more dedicated version of yourself. I especially loved the ideas she suggests about how to set up a positive, professional mindset for running your own business. For example, she suggests for you to write to yourself an offer letter appointing yourself as whichever role you will be fulfilling in your own business, whether that is just one role or multiple. This kind of simple but powerful acts, I believe, can help us take ourselves and our job/passion/business/brand seriously, they lead us to root for ourselves and to give our dreams the importance and priority they are due. The guidance Singh provides in this book ranges from business technical advice to self-care which is as important as managing your social media accounts when you are working for yourself since you are both your employer and employee and your wellbeing will also influence the affluence of your project. Reading this book, I felt motivated. It reminded me of the power we have to build the lifestyle and career we want, and it gave me the clarity I was seeking to take the steps needed to put my ideas into action. Singh’s voice is compelling, friendly, clear, and kind. I recommend this book to anyone who feels daunted by the prospect of setting off on their own. This book is a source of encouragement, clarity, and guidance. After you close the book, you definitely feel more confident, determined, and ready. It feels like by reading this book you are already taking the first step into making your dream a reality.

This is a good starter book for those wanting to start their own business/want to be more organised with their current business and haven’t been able to give it their all. I like the way that Snehal introduces us to the concept of us all having a purpose in life and that everything has a reason. Her Bible references are relatable, as there are similar passages in the Quran which I have read. She begins with the concept of self care, trust and devotion to what we love and I think that’s really encouraging.

Her chapter on planning is brief but tells us of the tools we might want to use for reflection and planning business strategies from scratch and tells us of her own experience of starting from nothing. Snehal's I.M.D.A.D. approach is really useful and easy to follow. I particularly enjoyed her advice and reflections on getting out of our comfort zones and disciplining ourselves to outline our goals, visions and strengths as well as holding ourselves to account. She focuses a lot on personal development being key in professional development, as our principles and work ethics should reflect "who you are to the core".

Her book isn't a to-do list of things to make one's business successful. Rather, she takes us through the journey as a beginner to now a successful writer and speaker and frequently reminds the reader that how we brand, how we work and what we achieve is our choice. Her final chapter is a coherent summary of all previous content to motivate the reader, and her endnote on positive company and self-affirmations are warming. She brings the human to business, personhood and the emotions we feel. She doesn't make business sound like a chore, like something daunting. She reviews it as a passion and hard work, determination. That's exactly what makes it relatable.

I Work For Me: 7 Steps to Excel on Your Entrepreneurial Journey is a guidebook designed to provide practical advice and insights for entrepreneurs, whether they are just starting out or already have experience in the field. The book outlines key steps that are crucial for success, including the importance of self-branding, managing time effectively, and turning ideas into actionable plans. Snehal R. Singh draws from personal experience to offer guidance that is both realistic and encouraging.

One of the book's strengths is its simplicity and accessibility. The language used is straightforward, making the concepts easy to grasp, even for readers who might be new to entrepreneurship. The emphasis on self-branding, particularly through the unique concept of I.M.BRAND, is particularly noteworthy. This idea encourages entrepreneurs to see themselves as a brand, which is essential for standing out in today’s competitive market.

The book is well-structured, with each chapter focusing on a different aspect of the entrepreneurial journey. It provides actionable steps that readers can implement immediately, which makes it not just a book to read, but a workbook to actively engage with. The absence of complex jargon further enhances its appeal, making it accessible to a wide audience.

Overall, I Work For Me is a well-written, easy-to-understand guide that serves as a valuable resource for anyone looking to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Whether you are a budding entrepreneur or an established business owner, this book offers insights that can help you navigate the challenges of running your own business. It’s a must-read that I highly recommend, especially for its practicality and clear, straightforward advice.

Amazing Guide for Entrepreneurs

OMG 'I work for me', simply resonates from the word go or let's say the title strikes a chord with the entrepreneur in me. I loved the acronym I.M.B.R.A.N.D. It made me look forward to what's next.

The steps that have been shared are totally unmissable, it feels like a complete circle and absolutely plausible. In fact, there are times when people tend to think that a to-do list is sufficient to make a business successful. You have beautifully helped one discern the difference between measuring your day (to - do - list included) and rules of life and questioning one's motivation for working in a good manner of course.

The questions are simple yet profound and practices makes one really introspect and re-align. Also, the fact that in today's time a business coach is needed to help an upcoming entrepreneur to fill the small gaps. This book does that, and I can only imagine how your presence can make a huge difference with your own expertise. For example: Your chapter on social media is an eye-opener for me and the kind of work I do. Though my work is about offline and online meets, my outlook to social media as an entrepreneur has changed. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. Wishing you lots of luck and yes, the world needs people who can make a difference in theirs and others lives. You for sure are One!

While the premise for I Work for Me is very straightforward, there is a lack of creativity in the ideas behind the 7 steps. The presentation of the 7 steps in the I.M.B.R.A.N.D format was very helpful and concise. The books is a quick study and easy format to follow. The advice given was overall good entrepreneurial advice, yet I felt like I was hearing a rehashed version of so many other books in the same field.
I felt the book did have potential, but the writing felt clunky and was very hard to read. There were several instances where I had to reread sentences. The explanations and real life examples also seemed a bit chaotic. Some of them related really well, while others left me wonder why they were included. I was also thrown off by the references to other sources. The reader is repeatedly given other resources than the very book they are reading.
Overall, the concept behind the book was good. There are lot of things keeping the reader from fully grasping the 7 steps and harnessing the advice in this book.

I.M.B.R.A.N.D, it is such a simple yet such a powerful term. Snehal has written it so beautifully. There are so many things that i could relate to as iam an author, speaker and lifestyle coach and i do many things at a time. At times i get drained because since i work freelancing i would do things lazily or to my fancy sometimes i would end up getting drained or would burn out when im just half way. Reading this book i realised where i was going wrong. Thid book is a perfect takeaway for me as i have just started working on my brand building and got this guidance book just in time. I do too many things, but organizing myself was something that i never thought i should do. This book i work for me is helping me to learn how to plan my day, and journal it for my future reference. Its not that i wasn't doing well in life but being organized is a peaceful way of working. Thank you Sehal for such a beautifull composition that you have done for Solopreneurs like me.

"I Work for Me" is a simple basic guide and workbook for entrepreneurs or solopreneurs that focuses on simple, day-to-day habits that can change the way you work and make you successful.
The book focuses more on self-branding and makes it easier for beginners to understand the most important steps that they should be taking. Simple things such as taking the time to journal, express gratitude, and focus on improving yourself are greatly needed in times where people tend to be distracted and forget that it's the small things that matter. Every chapter has a few questions that you can go back and answer several times. The questions help you to put into perspective the things that are important, how they need to be improved, and how to improve them.
I found the author's tips really applicable to anyone's life in general, not just entrepreneurs, and that is what I enjoyed the most about the book.
Overall, it is a great, simple book to get you started in the right direction and guide you through the basic steps of building your own brand, even if you lack experience in that field.

According to the description, it is a guide for entrepreneurs, offering practical advice on achieving success without burnout. Written by an entrepreneur, it covers key topics like time management, branding, and overcoming fears to help you make informed decisions and reap the rewards of being your own boss.

However, I did not find anything useful or original. It felt like a collection of excerpts from various books in the field. I believe this to be repetitive and a waste of time.

Overall, I think new readers could find this useful, if you have ever read any self-help book then there is nothing new that this book could offer you.

Thanks to Booktasters for giving me the ebook in exchange of an honest review.

I am just starting my own website and this book has helped me to get some ideas on how to be more successful with it. I am still working full time so I am not able to apply everything in the book but even those things that I have pulled out of the book are important. Especially in the beginning to find my own vision and to gain clarity on it.
The only reason why I didn't give it full 5 stars is that for me, personally, it has too many religious "stuff" in the book. I am not following Bible myself and I sometimes felt really uncomfortable reading the Bible passages in a book for entrepreneurship.

Starting your own brand is a daunting task and looking for resources on how to do it is time consuming. What I like about this book is that it is simple, leaves room for personal preferences, and not at all hard to finish smd read. The author is very much relatable (i.e., I also am embarking outside of my family’s usual suspects of profession so they’re not the top resource people if I wanted to ask advice), and inspirational as well. I’m glad that I came across this book and I’m on my way to making up my own rules since I work for me now.

The book starts out as fantastic - there is nothing super deep or super eureka type of content but the fact that it's so easy and basic that it makes is super relatable and easy to follow. Being simple would have actually been it's usp since it's different from overly polished inspirational speaker stuff some other books have. Although it did lack a bit of formatting to arrange the information in easy to read manner.
But obviously the good things do last throughout the book and final 2 chapters loose the uniqueness and became inspirational speaker stuff.
So overall an average read.

Though the book was enjoyable and easy to read it felt like ideas were being taken from other books and laid out here. The author never claims the other ideas as her own and does give the original people credit for their work but I thought the author would have original ideas and not just a list of other people’s ideas that have worked for her.

These days a lot of folks are demanding more control of their lives. Jobs where they can control the timings and flexibility are on the rise. Remote working gigs are rising led by emergence of the freelancers around.

Running a business -- where you are supposed to tilt the scales and balance them accordingly evaluating the tradeoffs is not easy job. It is natural that people look around for some anecdotes to explore for guys who have been on similar paths when starting up a company. In this book “work for me,” Snehal tries to simplify it all -- to a formula she calls as the IMBRAND formula.

She believes that a morning ritual that has roots in positivity, gratitude, faith are important to begin each day. She picks up quotes from the Bible, Mccarthy’s book, Rhonda Byrne’s book etc to illustrate the point of faith which will help in shoring up the strengths of staying positive when things go wrong. She asks folks to give and create some space for them to amidst all the noise that is around us. She starts laying out the steps and questions that she thinks one must ask themselves to keep them rooted on their goals and visions subsequently.

In the following up chapters — Snehal lays down the framework that she thinks would help everyone become more planned/disciplined and systematic and fine-tune their thinking and thought processes. A timeline plan of action for each day is laid out so that one can “measure the day.” She also illustrates the key point of branding up oneself — and rewarding for each small achievements such as buying headsets, going to the concert or super bowl etc for oneself.

She also mentions the importance of staying grounded and rooted from celebrities and people considered successful like Priyanka Chopra, Oprah etc. The benefits of using social media to learn, develop oneself is also mentioned in one of the chapters. She calls for people to be accessible and approachable. There are also nice bits on procrastination, confronting the fears, trying new things and diving into the action. The other important tidbits such as staying healthy, fit and meditating are also nicely illustrated. She also mentions that upgrading of skills in today’s cut-throat competitive world is also important. T

he whole book is in simple easy to get grasp style and is a good read for those who are clueless on how to streamline their life and the chaos around that.
