A serial killer stalks the streets of Atlanta. Dubbed the Weekend Killer, the murderer takes his victims on Friday and sends a souvenir to the Atlanta Major Crimes Division of the Atlanta Police Department by Saturday morning. Next, a body part arrives on Sunday followed by a typewritten note Monday morning describing where the body may be found. The pattern is clearly intended to provoke the police—down to the untraceable fingerprints the killer doesn’t bother to wipe and right up to the moment when Mia’s new stepsister Mindy is the next victim.
Mia thinks she knows things that the police don’t.
Should she stay out of it and let the police do their job? Should she trust her instincts and go on alone? The clock is ticking down and only one thing is for sure: Unless someone does something before Monday morning, Mindy will be dead.

Outstanding

I haven't been giving 5 stars but this one deserved it. It really held my attention from the first page to the last. I know you will enjoy this too!

I swear, Mia just keeps getting more annoying with each book! Some of her frustration is understandable, but her feeling that she is the only one who's right leads her to screw up massively. And she never seems to learn - she admits to herself that she's screwed up, then turns around and does it again and again until she lucks out and finds the bad guy(s). In this one, her obnoxious stepsister Mindy (yes, the one who tried to sabotage Mia's mom's wedding) is kidnapped, and Jack & Mia's dog is sick. Not satisfied with the way the police and FBI are handling things (for some good reasons), Mia decides to investigate on her own, and drives around making calls on her suspects...Hello? Way to land yourself in deep trouble - go alone to meet somebody you think may be a murderer! Apparently this is the last of the series, which is probably a good thing - I'm not sure I could take too much more of Mia. Her "gift" isn't working very well any more either, and that was one of the interesting things about the books. I did enjoy the series in general - good plots - but Mia was getting to be too much.

I read the first book in the series and it was ok so I thought I would try another one. Big mistake. Writing was good although there were a few missing or misused words which is why it got 2 stars. Author needs a proof reader and a plot with an intelligent lead character. Very tired of authors who decide to write mysteries where the main character is clueless.
SPOILER ALERT
Mia did so many stupid things in this book that I skimmed to the end to find out if anyone threw her in jail for obstruction, but they just patted her on the head. She finds evidence at the scene and picks it up and takes it home. She finds Mindy's cell phone and takes it from where she found it and doesn't tell anyone until much later. All because she knows better and the police and FBI won't listen so she has to go behind everyone's back and prove them wrong.
Glad the book was free but l won't be reading anymore by this author.

The Most Dysfunctional of Families

Mia's mom married the police chief and he brought a very crazy ex-wife and their mean-spirited daughter into the family. (Dad isn't all that blameless in the girl's bad upbringing as his position on the forced should imply.) Though they are all adults now, the family dynamic is still in play. Mindy disappears during a serial killers reign of terror and he is the natural suspect. Mia is a psychic P.I., who doubts this theory, but her step-father wants her to leave it to the "professionals." As the time gets closer to Mindy's death, everyone begins to show their true colors. Can any part of this family withstand the worry and feelings of helplessness that are pulling them apart?
If you love slight psychic help in crime solving and a complicated case, this series seems to be a real page turner. Mia always has an excuse for going into bad situations without backup so the reader will get plenty of drama and mayhem.

I’ve read books from another series by this author but this is my first of the Mia Kazmaroff series. It was a fairly fast read with Mia, a private investigator searching for clues and suspects when she fears police are missing important details in a case related to her family. She seems to be a strong willed young woman and I enjoyed ‘meeting’ her. The only thing that annoyed me were the instances of poor editing with some wrong words in sentences ( eg. ‘and’ instead of ‘had’). I was reading the ebook version so that might have been a mistake in formatting(?).

Wow, this was an "I can't put it down" mystery. I read the first 5 books in this series awhile ago (maybe 2 years) and was surprised to see another one. So glad I did. This one centered on the abduction of Mia's step-sister Mindy and Mia's frantic efforts to find her. I didn't guess the perpetrator until Mia did so I was on the edge of my seat till almost the end of the book. I would love for there to be more in this series.

Couldn't put it down. And couldn't figure out who did it until...can't share anymore without spoiling it. Mia's a private investigator with a stubborn streak. Have license, will help family. The writing's tight the scenes don't lumber and descriptive dialogue move the story along. It's a good murder mystery. The clues are there but not there. Who could it be? It's tense and edge of your seat at points. A good read.

Easy, entertain read.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, it wasn't the most thrilling one I've ever read, but it was entertaining. It moved at a good pace and had newer characters showed great potential. However, Mia and Jack...love the chemistry. All six of these have been quite entertaining and I have enjoyed seeing the characters develop over time. I can't wait to see what happens next with Dad going the business.

Exciting Read

I really like the premise of this series, with a protagonist who can determine the emotions of others with a touch. As she demonstrated throughout the book she is not adverse to bending a few rules in a the pursuit of justice either. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Mystery until the end.

Enjoyed Ruthless for it's twisting storyline. The true kidnapper wasn't revealed until the end. There were several actual suspects and each could have been guilty. If you enjoy mystery, whodunnit type of story lines you will be able to sink your teeth in this.

Chief is married to Mia’s Mom, Jess, when news of his daughter Cindy has been taken. They think it is part of the Serial Killer, especially when her diamond ring comes to him. Mia doesn’t want to interfere, and while she goes to the area her car is at, she picks up information. Tense plot, would they get her back in time. Good series to read, of Mia and Jess and their gift.

Fun series!

A crazy, rollicking romantic who-done-it. Mia and Jack are working successfully on their relationship while Mindy, Bill ( Mia’s father-in-law)’s daughter is seized by a kidnapper masquerading as a serial killer. A great read!

Suspense and intrigue!

Loved the way the plot developed around characters, any one. Of which could have been the killer- only to discover what love and rejection drive our reactions.

High Excitement

The unknown variable and murders, unrequited love, disappointment, romance and the search make this a wonderful read. Impossible to determine what might happen next, but so much interest generated, no way to put this book down without finding out.

An excellent book of a woman who is trying to find her step sister who has been abducted. She is convinced that it was someone her stepsister knew everyone
else was sure it was the Weekend Killer. It’s a race against time.
Also known as Ruthless.

White knuckle.

Suspenseful as heroine goes from clue to clue. Ending come as a shock only at the last of the story.

This book kept me guessing until the last page. There were enough characters that could have been guilty so the end was uncertain.
