CW: minor depiction of sexual assault (NOT between hero and heroine)
I see now how little did I know about the scope and variety of tropes and themes in erotic historical romances. Guardian/ward is not completely new to me, but in the context of BDSM/spanking it's a first.
What can I say, the book was hot.
Plot and characters were both nice, even though heroine annoyed me slightly, but I guess it's a part of the trope? I'm not sure. Hero appeared very cold and stern towards his ward, but he also banged her immediately so... But he was careful no to take her "maidenhead", which I found funny in the context.
I feel there was not much of a build up to the romance, or even development of it. I mean, they do love each other already, so I think it's not that jarring. And, let's be honest, we are here mostly for the bangin' ;)
Overall, a light and hot book!

I like the guardian/ward trope and this story is well written. Maybe I was just me being not in the mood but I did not like the bratty ward. She is just too childish for me. I did like Zander and the sexy times. I wished the story was longer so that it could have developed a bit more.

Zander has become Tallie’s ward and she is not your typical Victorian lady. Zander is hoping to marry her off, but she isn’t interested. What will happen when sparks fly between them. Fast-paced read with steamy chemistry and naughtier punishments. I liked it.

Fast paced and exciting read, strong characters and story…
Lady Natalia Waltham “Tallie” has been being raised as Zander Thwaites’s ward since the death of her much-loved father and his very best friend that had entrusted her care to him until her marriage to Lord Banyon.
Tallie is no simpering Victorian lady content to sit on the side-lines, drinking tea and doing embroidery she has a keen mind and is also strong spirited when she meets her proposed husband, she rejects him.
Zander tries to broker a piece but when she persists and then openly reject Lord Banyon in the park she is left in a precarious predicament, when the story of the supposed snit reaches Tallie’s ears it has been contrived that she physically attacked him, whilst she is outside the spurned suitor decides to take what he wants from the beautiful Natalia who endeavours to fight him and his two thugs off.
They fail to notice that a certain man has caught up with them and that he is going to inflict on the more pain than they could imagine, Zander takes the assault and the subsequent retribution into his own hands…..

Would’ve given more stars, except for:
Welp. My first time reading this author. This is one of those niche books that focuses on spanking and discipline. Not a particular favorite, but I can enjoy it as a novelty if the love story and romance is rich enough to make it more than just about the kinks.
This book was well-written and had an engaging and enjoyable storyline. BUT, and here’s a big but: a hero who slimes around with other women after meeting the heroine.
I don’t care that he didn’t plan on marrying her. I don’t care that he didn’t think they’d end up together. As soon as the hero meets the heroine, that should be it for him. He should’nt be sticking his man parts in any other female. But apparently this author thinks it’s swoony and ideal for the hero to be engaging in sexual intimacy with random females, picking up STDs and dishonoring the love he feels for the heroine. It’s grotesque. So this one gets 3 stars. It’s a shame because the story would’ve been good had it not been for the manwho/re hero.

This is steamy and entertaining. Zander has been lusting for his ward for years, so can't wait to marry her off and be away from her. Tallie has been in love with Zander for years, and is not willing to marry someone else. The more stubborn and disrespectful she becomes, the more he decides that she needs to be punished, because she was willful. Things explode between them when she pulls a stunt in public. But she does not get exactly what she wants from him.

The thing Zander did to Tallie in the first chapter to discipline her is inappropriate since he was her guardian and not in romantic relationship at all with her. That's my opinion when I thought this book is your typical historical romance but since this book is erotic romance, I can finally accept his actions for disciplining Tallie.
I give it 3 stars because this book has a weak plot and not enough romance between the 2 MCs.

Really Good!
Tallie is such a precocious character. She is the ward of Zander who she loves but is promised in marriage to another. Tallie’s not going to sit by and marry someone just because they are “suitable”.
Really good book. The storyline was great and it had just enough steam.

Steamy read.
Natalie is Zanders ward. He is supposed to make sure that she marries the man her father chose before he died. However, she wants him. When her rebellious behaviour ruins the match he decides to take her in hand and claim her himself. I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advanced reader copy.

Wow, this is a naughty story and oh! so good. Loved this tale of mischief and consequences. Tallie is a very disobedient young lady who is in love with her father’s friend, Zander. The antics this young lady gets into are hilarious and the response of Zander is very hot. A great story and the ending was just perfect

This steady paced historical romance has a delightful plot and some wonderful characters. There are some twists and turns to the plot and a lot of steamy scenes. It’s a nice length for a book making it an easy read for one sitting.

This was an age gap romance with an original and unique story. It was filled with sexual dominance, with the use of whips, belts, spankings, and other forms of devices and items used. I enjoyed the happy ending in another far away continent with a beautiful climate and scenery.

I thought this was fun and I loved the banter. It was sexy and super easy to read. I would have sacrificed a bit of the age gap though, it bordered on icky, esp given that the story indicates the MMC starts lusting after the FMC pretty young.

This was a quick, but steamy historical spanking romance. The young woman was certainly headstrong, and the hero is more than happy to correct her. There are a couple of twists to the story that kept me reading; I thoroughly enjoyed this story!

I couldn’t get into this one. I don’t usually mind an age gap and if he’d met her when she was 19 it wouldn’t seem so bad.
Yes it’s just fiction and times were different, but a man in his mid thirties lusting after a 15 year old isn’t my thing.
