This book is a play, including songs/poems, about the hard life of fisherman (and their wives and families) from Hull and Grimsby. The project behind the play collected and recorded oral histories of fisherman and then used them to create a play. The play tackles head on the dangers of trawling in the Arctic and North Atlantic, the hard work and bravery of the fishermen. Each scene is based around a tale or anecdote to showcase a salient theme of the fishermen’s lives on the boat and on shore with their wives and families. The book also includes photos from the staging of the play as well as photos taken on a trawler during a voyage. Very powerful play, moving songs/verse. Nothing to fault.
