Regular Expression is one of the four pillars of Data Science. As a Data Scientist I know it's importance. I knew Regex already. But I haven't used it using Python. First I tried few famous publishers. What they did was a compilation of Regex syntaxes of different languages and their book became thick. Sold!!Bang. I was looking for a book that gives quality not quantity. And Amazon landed me here. Then I read reviews here. Honestly speaking, these are great readers with genuine reviews. I just have finished this book. And I couldn't wait to review it. It is a must have book. For beginners it is the book to grab in your kity. Examples are simple, arranged and explained beautifully. The examples are build upon one after the another. At times you'll smile on little humours introduced. At the end you'll smile, have goosebumps and you'll literally feel that, OK, I Know Regular Expression Using Python now. WOW!! Few reviews were about bad grammar. But I didn't find any mistake. May be the author has updated them. Thank You for this little gem. Hats off to the author.
Good background for regular expression matching in python
This book starts with the basics of regular expression matching in the Python language. So if you don't already know Python, you can also learn it at the same time as learning some of the basics of what you can do. I liked the clear examples and also liked that the chapters provided problems to code a matching regular expression that was not in the book as this is something that is best learned by doing and practicing it hands on
Good starter book for understanding regular expressions in python. But it's necessary that you have gained the basic knowledge in python before reading this book or else it will be difficult.

This is a nice book, but it's not a very good book. The examples are useful if contrived, they lack depth (ie: function-based re.sub), groupdicts, grouping, and backwards operators. Nice try, can't recommend.
