This is the second book in the series - and I definitely was happy that I had read book 1 first - but you could read them the other way around too!
Running in parallel with Summer Nights, but concentrating on the original Wildflower, Elle, I loved how I knew the underlying plot, but got to see another side of the story. Given it was a few months ago that I read the first book, I had enough in my mind to quickly catch up, but then could relax as I got to remember events, but see them from a different viewpoint. We also get more of the mystery of the di Costa brothers' father Leo, but not everything. I am excited to see who gets their story next and how we find out more of just what is going on.
Elle inherited all her much loved Grandfather's assets, but the camp is for all the Wildflowers to run and enjoy together. The band of friends from summer camp are very close, but also very different. Even though they have kept in touch, they are also quite reserved about their lives, so Elle keeps her feelings for Liam to herself, well as much as she can. And as we know Zoe is doing the same about Dylan - so I am guessing future installments will reveal further dalliances too! There are hints after all.
I just loved the concept of the tree house with the hidden ladder, and it sounded very well appointed, even in its most basic state. Add in the fact that they used it as a place to 'meet', and it is no surprise that both Liam and Elle held great affection for it too. It was great fun that they kept finding chances to meet up and advance their relationship, and it was refreshing that Elle did not feel intimidated by Ryan's brashness.
I definitely recommend this series, as it has love, family, humour, mystery and a bit of drama. Escapism at its finest!
3.75/5 This is the second book of the Wildstone series and the first one that I have read. Even though this could be read as a standalone, I think that reading book 1 first would help you understand the characters of this story. Having not read the first book, I was a little lost but not much. I found that Elle and Liam were likeable. Their chemistry was off the charts. It was a good read.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This series is a very interesting approach. Each book tells the same events from a different set of perspectives and then continues the story just a bit further. I am really enjoying the layered plotting that this approach brings to the storyline. I can't wait to see what happens next. I do highly recommend that you read this series in order as it will make a difference in how the story unfolds for you. As always, the author weaves in some spicy heat between the main characters in each book that is the delightful topping to an already entertaining plot!
This is the second book in this series and I actually liked it more than the first book, and that does not normally happen, but that is the case with this one. We had met Liam in the last book he is one of brothers who is looking for his father and thinking that Elle was his dads mistress but as he spends time with her he doesn't think that is the case. Liam was entrusted to spend more time with Elle trying to find anytype of clues as to where their dad is at. Elle is one of the wildflowers a group of girls that came to be best friends at a time when they all needed each other and continued to be the best of friends, now they each own a part of the retreat but know that these group of brothers are hiding something and they are going to find out.. I don't want to say anymore so that you grab a copy and Enjoy! Can't wait for Hannah and Owen's story, and then we need someone for Scar and Aubrey- or is Aubrey with Aiden? Just wishing..
rcvd an ARc at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
The second Wildflowers book belongs to Elle and Liam. We get to see the camp reopening from Elle’s perspective and the Costa brothers’ hunt for their father from Liam’s.
Elle is a likeable, engaging character. She’s a survivor of terrible childhood trauma and she’s the leader among the Wildflowers. Liam is more enigmatic. It is disappointing that all we really get as a description for Liam is a comparison to Jason Momoa (I had to google the name) and I kept wanting to know more about his art and woodworking talents. Much of the connection between these two feels like romance novel paint by numbers and I didn’t feel terribly invested in their relationship.
This second book takes place at almost the exact same time as the first. As a reader, this is pretty disappointing. We get a slightly different perspective on the events of the first book but the few new revelations come at the very end of a long book. And while the first book took time to properly introduce readers to the characters and their camp, this second book only skims the surface. I feel like I’ve finished a disappointing re-read of a book I really enjoyed the first time.
So far, there really isn’t enough substance or suspense around Leo Costa’s disappearance to keep my attention and I don’t think I can face another three books recounting the same events to find out. I still love the idea of the Wildflowers sisterhood and I love the camp the women are rebuilding together. But this book is lacking the humour and warmth of the first book and I’m not sure I’m invested enough in the series story arch to continue with the third book.
Sexy and a little sentimental, Summer Heat is a great addition to this fun series. While I enjoyed the first book, Summer Nights, it got bogged down by the many characters involved in the story. Anyone who reads this as a standalone will probably feel the same about this book, but those who have read the first are not likely to have an issue keeping up. With a much more focused romance, I found this to be a satisfying read.
The story follows Elle, one of five friends who recently opened a camp for adults. She doesn’t have the best experience with men, but she finds herself attracted to Liam... despite the fact that she knows he’s keeping secrets. One of three brothers who recently started working at the camp, Liam seems to be snooping around a lot. The two are a little mistrustful of each other but a lot attracted, so they tentatively start something between them. Secrets stand in their way, and they have to work through them before they can have something lasting.
There are a lot of things that worked better in this story for me than the last, especially the increased focus on the romance and the lack of deception between Elle and Liam. Sure, they both have secrets but that’s out in the open so it didn’t feel slimy. I also really enjoyed Liam - he may be young, but his sole focus was Elle from the start. It was easy to feel the chemistry and root for them. While the overarching storyline for the series got a little overwhelming at times, it didn’t take away from the book as a whole. I’m definitely curious about the next book, since these all follow along the same timeline and we’ve gotten glimpses of what that story will entail. I received an ARC via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Summer Heat is the second book in the Wildflowers series, and the timeline is overlapping with Summer Nights. There is a mystery that runs through the entire series, with each book advancing it a little bit more.
Summer Heat focuses on the relationship between Elle and Liam. With Liam's father missing, he and his brothers took a job at the summer camp that three friends run, thinking the women have something to do with his disappearance. Liam find himself strongly attracted to Elle, and she to him, but Liam doesn't know if she's actually involved in his father's disappearance, so giving in to the attraction could prove very distracting on his quest for answers. Elle, in the meantime, doesn't think she's a good judge of men, so she doesn't trust herself, either!
The series is well-written, with good chemistry and good character and plot development. I'll definitely finish the series so I can find out there the Costa dad has run off to, and I guarantee I'll enjoy it as well based on the first two books.
Elle is running a camp with her four BFFS. Liam and his brothers come searching for their dad - but don't want to alert anyone as to why they are there. The guys get jobs at the resort but it doesn't take too long for the girls to catch on that something is up. Originally, the guys think Elle is their dad's latest mistress. When Liam lets that slip, Elle finds that hilarious. Turns out Elle knows their dad but not quite in the way anyone expected. This is a great series! We're still not sure where the bigger story is going - so many questions about Leo and crazy Ryan is still hanging around. But Liam and Elle are a great match up even though it takes them a bit to figure it out. I love that Elle is in charge yet knows how to rely on her pals to help her through things. I love this group of Wildflowers and cannot wait for the rest of their stories!
In the second book in the Wildflowers series we get a front row seat to Elle and Liam’s love story. This series does have some repeat of locations and timelines that was a little unnecessary if you read the first book. Although overall didn’t detract from the story but at times felt unnecessary. However the writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating. I was expecting, many of these moments. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
This is the second book in this series and you could read this one without reading the first but the first was really good! This one is about Elle and Liam. Elle's grandfather left her and the other Wildflowers (that is what she and her friends called themselves) the camp they turned into an upscale camp for adults and Liam and his brothers are still looking for their father. Now they find out Elle really does know who their father is. This series is great and I cannot wait for the next book!
I read my version from NetGalley (if this shows it as an Audio CD, that is an error). I would like to think each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone, but if you have not read Book 1, this will be tough to get into. That said, I actually read Book 1 -- which is why I happily picked up Book 2 -- and I still had a hard time getting into this.
The backstory elements, just told from a slightly different point of view, were uninteresting. It felt awkward how the author tried to puzzle piece Zoey's story with Elle's story. The match up in timing on the elements weren't smooth. Additionally, the chemistry didn't grow organically for Liam and Elle. Things certainly got better once we broke away from the shared timeline so this couple can have their own path.
I'm curious about Hannah and Owen, but as Book 2 was blah, I'm not sure if Book 3 will be any better.
This second in series starts with a prologue. The book doesn't exactly take off where the first one finished, there is some slight overlapping but its done well. This time we are focusing on Elle and Liam - They have great chemistry and there's some real sizzle going on between them. The main mystery about the missing Costa father is still there with only a slight more insight into it. There is more to this story. All the other characters are well covered as well. This was as entertaining as the first and not only the characters are growing but the camp too.
Interesting take on writing in this series Each one tells the story from a different perspective While at the same time each book is the story of a different couple
The story revolves around a camp for wealthy guests and the disappearance of the Costa father. At the same time we get a the love story of Liam and Elle you don'e really need to read the first book to follow the story however as the writing is so flawless I would recommend that you
This is such a good book! It's a engaging & sexy romance, filled with intrigue. Elle & her childhood friends, also known as the Wildflowers, re-opened her grandfather's camp. Three mysterious brothers showed to apply for jobs, along with secrets & suspensions. Elle ❤ Liam, are perfect together. Can't wait for Book 3! I loved everything about this Must Read Story!!
Elle Saunders and the rest of her friends called the Wildflowers inherited the run down summer camp that they attended when they were young and from Elle’s grandfather. They decided to renovate everything into a get-away camp for adults.
One of first hires that Elle and her friends made was the Costa brothers because they needed to search the camp area because they were looking for their father who hadn’t answered his phone or messages for over six months. Liam Costa fit right in working at the camp but he was especially interesting in Elle Saunders because they thought that Elle might have an idea of where there father was at.
Summer Heat is the second book in the Wildflowers series but there is enough back-story that I was able to enjoy the story without re-reading the first book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Summer Heat is a fun, sexy romance about a group of friends that have been friends for many years and their love and loyalty to each other just warms your heart. There is just enough mystery, suspense, drama, angst, and hot guys to keep you wanting more. Looking forward to the next book!
Another cute addition to this series. Very likeable characters, laughter, antics, and a mystery. It was interesting to see parts of the same story scenes but from a different perspective. There were a few times that it felt repetitive but for the most part the author did a good job making it fresh.
Elle’s grandfather left his camp for kids to Elle and her four friends ... the Wildflowers. They hire the Costa Brothers to help them with the renovations, so they can open the camp for new clientele ... Snowbirds. Liam Costa loves to work with his hands and was hired on for his carpentry work. When Elle and Liam meet the sparks fly, but Liam doesn’t act on his feelings because he believes that Elle is his father’s mistress.
This is a cute summer romance ... I laughed and swooned. You can read this book as a standalone, but I would suggest reading the first book ... it would make this book easier to follow as there is a part of the story that continues from the first book and continues through this book into the next book. I presume there will be a book for each of the five Wildflowers.
I received an early copy courtesy of Montlake Romance through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
Summer Heat was an interesting multi layered engaging story. That really pulled me in thanks to the unique way it tells the same story I enjoyed in Summer Nights. But from a whole fresh perspective with Elle and Liam taking centre stage. Yet, it also moves the original story further on providing fresh details about the three Costa brothers search for their dad and the Wild flowers themselves, who are all delightful and entertaining characters. And at times, it was quite honestly exceedingly hard to put down, and very pleasing to read. And I can't wait to read more from this series in the future.
Would happily recommend.
**I was kindly provided with a free copy of Summer Heat via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
I enjoyed this story a bit more than the first book in the series. I found the characters better drawn and the chemistry between them is off the charts as are the scenes. The mystery of where their father is hiding or what happened exactly has a lot of layers that are unfolding one by one and bring a great addition to the story overall. There are trust issues, there's suspense and there's love that will always overcome everything no matter what we tell ourselves. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Summer Heat by Jill Sanders is book two in her Wildflowers Series. Elle Sanders is a 21 year old woman and she grew up with her beloved grandfather. But now she had to say goodbye and she's mourning him. She and her group of friends spent their summers at River Camp and when she inherits aorementioned camp the women are determined to re-open it. They hire lokal help, aka Levi whom they grew up with and some not lokal brothers, Owen, Dylan and Liam Rhodes. The three brothers have their own aganda and keep their secrte close. Summer Haet is a sweet contemporary romance. I greatly enjoyed redaing theis beautifully thought out, beautifully written and beautifully told story, book two in series. I can't wait what happens next to the Wildflowers, who's book will be next. 4,5 Stars.
Ellie grew up with her grandfather and now is trying to find a way to cope with the loss. Her and a group of friends, they call themselves the wildflowers, are trying to find a way to reopen a resort at the River Camp where they spent their summers growing up into the women they are today. Liam and his brothers take jobs at the camp in Hope's of finding their missing father.
As they work together, it a romance starts to unfold. I love the quirky and unique moments in this books. I read it as a stand alone but want to read the first Wildflowers book to understand some subplot and character growth. The author makes one sweet and sexy romance and I cannot wait to read another!
Book two in Jill Sanders new series, Wildflowers, about a summer camp turned high end resort/retreat.
After he died,. Elle Sanders inherited the summer camp her grandfather ran for years. Wanting to keep the land and his legacy, she convinces her friends to go in with her on a new venture...a high end luxury resort for adults. Needing help, the girls hire three brothers as general men-of-work. Romance blooms between Elle and the youngest brother, Liam, as they work together to achieve success.
Sexy and sweet, with some quirky moments thrown in, Summer Heat is sure to satisfy you.
Elle Saunders grew up in Florida but things weren't always sunny. They started to change when she and her friends took over their old summer champ. And turned it into a prestigious getaway for wealthy guests looking for fun and that special connection.
They hired the Costa brothers, Dylan, Owen and Liam. The latter wasn't making things easy for her especially with the attraction that was growing between them.
Liam Costa did everything humanely possible to get the job at the River Camp. He went there to confront the woman he thought lure his father away from his family and his business. What he didn't count on was falling heads over heals for the beautiful, smart and captivating, Elle Saunders.
As they learned more about each other, they found out that there were more than attraction between them. They gave into what they were feeling. Then their lives got turned upside down when an ex-employee decided to sue Elle and River Camp. They also had to deal with Liam's dad who was keeping something from him and his brothers.
The only one who knew the secret was Elle and she couldn't share it with them YET. It was great to catch up with Dylan and Zoey(SUMMER NIGHTS) as well as the rest of the Wildflowers. Especially Scar (hope she gets her own book soon ;)) who was butting heads with Elle's cousin, Aiden.
SUMMER HEAT is the second installment in Jill Sanders' WILDFLOWERS series. It was fast-paced, fascinating a d a must read. Excellent job by Jill Sanders. Can't wait for the next installment. Two thumbs up!
Just as well written as book 1, a smart, sexy romance, Jill Sanders is a one-click favorite. I truly enjoyed getting re-aquainted with this cast of characters and look forward to more books in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy for an honest review.
Summer Heat by Jill Sanders a five-star read that will bring the heat. This is the second story in the Wildflowers series and in my opinion it is so much better than the first, maybe it was as I knew the characters so much better or just that we got into the pace all I know is I enjoyed this immensely. Elle Saunders was the quiet one in my mind, the one who has seemingly lost the most, but in some ways, she was also the one who gained the most. This is a thrilling story and one that will warm even the coldest of hearts. Part of that reason is Liam Costa, a man who has a way with his hands and can make magic out of wood, just like the magic in this story. Number three can’t come soon enough!! I need to get back to camp.
I really enjoyed this installment to Jill's Wildflower series. The book is written very well with an interesting take on the story from each girl's perspective for each book. There is also a great mystery to it. I can't wait to see where this series goes.
I'm really loving this series, it has a different vibe to other books by Jill Sanders. I also liked how this book was initially set at the same time as Summer Nights, but then steps forward towards the end, bringing both stories up to date.
Elle and the other Wildflowers are keeping a close eye on the three brothers they have employed at the camp. There's something not sitting right about them. Why are they sneaking around the camp, and what are they looking for? Elle is "assigned" to Liam, the younger of the three. One problem is that she is attracted to him. Will Liam use this to his advantage?
The mystery element of book one follows through to this book, and we do learn some information, but not everything, but this isn't the main story, but just a thread weaving through.
