As protestors fill the valley below, the architect heading-up a controversial church restoration is murdered…
For New Scotland Yard detectives Hagen and Pierce, the finger of motive points to the rowdy bunch trying to stop construction on the site… at least until a second body enters the equation. Now the detectives have two separate cases to juggle as they search for the link between them, if there is one.
Follow the Patterns…
Links are foremost on Kate Gardener’s mind. As she gets closer to the heart of the decade-old murder involving the members of the posh “Cavendish Club”, she realizes she may have bitten off more than she can safely chew. Constantly tailed by a pair of thugs, Kate is shaken when a violent attack nearly takes a friend’s life. The sudden return of Kate’s ex, and Cavendish member, Parris Devereux makes it clear that she’s closer to uncovering the truth than ever before… Too close.
One thing is certain… Evil may wear many masks, but it never stays hidden for long.
Always a spinner of tales, Gabriella Messina’s journey as an author began in the realm of screenwriting. Whether writing fantasy or crime fiction, short stories, or full-length novels, Ms. Messina brings a fresh point of view and a pearl of snarky wisdom to her work, exploring science, justice, faith, and feeling in equal measure.
When not writing, she enjoys indulging in her favorite “guilty pleasures”: coffee and chocolate, watching car racing with her son, and spending too much time looking at music videos online.
This author has done it again! I am always so incredibly sad when one of her mystery books end. I’m like ~ “NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! It can’t end like this! Not yet! Not now!” ESPECIALLY after Kate’s last trip to the photo lab... you’ll definitely not want to miss that one. 😉
Kate is getting so much closer to solving a murder of a Russian girl, (that happened well before she arrived there and whose mystery has been following her these past few books) but it’s getting more dangerous for her and her friends...
One friend ends up in the hospital, fighting for their life. Kate was so worried that she’d lost her friend and blames herself for their attack that led them there. I was so mad when they tried to keep their attack from Kate, and the rest of them, and almost died in the process.
She’s even being followed, throughout the latest murder she’s investigating involving a real estate development, the architect who was working on a project and a power company. Things get even more interesting when traces of a man from her past start popping up in the investigation, a man who wasn’t supposed to be back...
This is, once again, a terrific mystery story that keeps you absolutely enthralled to the very end. Bravo! I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Awesome read by this new to me author. I wish I had understood it wasn't a standalone when I chose it but that didn't take away from this author's skill. In fact it made me want to know more about the series. Kate is awesome and has no fear, well at least none that she shows easily. She is very astute and has some great instincts, those skills are what make her a target as well as good at her job. This time those skills and the mess she is mixed up in may be more than she bargained for. This involves some high-reaching people and they wont be easy to bring down. Loved the action and intrigue in the story. This author does well with the players and keeping the tension high. Being my first read I'm not quite sure what happened at the end it wasn't quite a cliff hanger but the story clearly isn't over. Looks like I have some catching up to do since I really need to know more and find out how this conspiracy and all that it encompasses began.
BE WARNED: it's NOT A STANDALONE! I read it as such. And I think Ms. Messina didn't really good job, but as I didn't know the last 6 books it was hard to follow established relationships and cases that had been following here. The story was nice and intriguing same goes for characters where every card that was there was played well. A good story, but this is a series that needs to be read in order to have the best experience.
