I love writing and I'm a writer of love in all its forms - fiction, poetry, blogging. Think of me as a busker in a subway. I love music, I love to perform and you guys are kind enough to give me money to allow me to do it. My bank manager likes that too, but he doesn't use my subway.
I'm passionate about sharing my work with readers. I understand though, as I'm not a famous New York Times Bestseller (yet!), you might be nervous about taking a chance on me. That's why I made the offer at the top of this section. If you enjoy the ride, I hope you'll just keep rolling on and try some more.
As you'll see from my book list here on Goodreads, I write in a range of genres: romance-suspense novels, gritty short stories and more recently, a series of illustrated, interactive modern fairy tales for children (age 6-12). Wherever possible my books are available in digital, paperback and audio book formats.
I often have giveaways of paperbacks, audio books, e-books and sometimes rather valuable electronic gadgets related to reading (e.g. Kindles and other e-readers). Keep an eye out on my blog and you might get more free stuff!
I still had spots when I started writing and have won numerous local, national and international prizes for poetry and short stories in the many years that have passed.
I now live a double life, sharing my time between a tiny rural town in southwest France and within commuting distance of London in the UK.
Quickly caught my attention to begin a story about a female cop and a grocery burglar she lets go, then denies that it was the burglar that she stopped. Turns out she knows this grocery bandit from her volunteering as a bus community bus drivers. And she finds that the market is run by what seems to be a bully and the employees seem to be human trafficked. Can this female cop take on this bully and a case of trafficking on her own? This story is an easy read and quite engaging. There's laughter and tears, hope and fear, instant attraction and holiday cheer. It's wonderful to find a story where the cop has a conscience. She spends her non-duty time volunteering as a bus driver for under privileged children to get them to community events. Unexpectedly, she finds herself pulling up to a rich end of town to pick up a boy who apparently is the son of the bully and his porn actress ex-wife. She has a great heart for the under privileged, whether it's the low-income families or the neglected seniors, then she found herself concerned for the trafficked as Christmas approached. Paula didn't feel that anyone should be neglected, mistreated, or underfed on Christmas. Without giving away the story, I highly recommend this book! It's definitely in the Christmas spirit and thoroughly enjoyable. Provided complimentary for an honest review, I feel this book is well worth the couple hours (for me at least) to read this work by Emma Calin. And I can honestly tell you that it is well worth your time. The only downfall is that I want to hear what happens next!! There are other "seduction" works to go through and I have a feeling I will be reading those, too!
Paula Middleton is a P. C. with the Met. in Brixton . That is quite a rough area of London, but she has worked it as a community police officer for thirteen years and knows a lot of it's people. When a warehouse manager calls her in to report a lot of thefts, she realizes there is something very nasty going on, on her patch. That will not do. Max Muswell fought his way up from a bad start in the roughest areas of London. Now he has plenty of money, a son he adores, but a big problem with his staff. I love the fact that our heroine is a curvy woman nearing forty. It proves there is hope for everyone. She is a good cop, and everyone who knows her, loves her. We don't all have to be dolly birds. Our hero is not really the type a police officer should get involved with. He has his own code of honour and doesn't always play by the rules. I can easily imagine this happening in today's London. It can be hard for the cops to find the way to do what's morally right in our increasingly political correct world. As usual with this author I found myself immediately drawn in to our characters lives and enjoying every bit of it. Great story and maybe a lesson for those who try and stick too much to the rules. I lived it.
I read this book as part of an arc program. This was a quick read about Paula, a police officer in a rough area of London. Paula is divorced and her ex-husband left her for her former best friend. Paula is not looking for another relationship and when she meets a businessman after she volunteers to drive a young group of children to look at Christmas lights, he is interested in her, but because of crossing paths with him and hearing stories about him while working with the police, she is a little nervous which is the real him. Max has a disabled son and when he meets Paula, he wants to get to know her. Max has information about crimes in the area and within his business that can help Paula, so he decides to work with her and prove he is worthy of her. This was a different romance, I enjoyed the book, I thought Max was more than what I thought. He really wanted to be with Paula and do the right thing within his business. I loved the relationship he had with his son and I loved how Max made Paula's life better and showed her happiness. Good one.
SEDUCTION OF SANTA by Emma Calin is the newest book I have read by this author and another story I enjoyed from beginning to end. Set in London this book involves a heroine, Paula, who is a police constable with a heart of gold that has never quite achieved what she wants in life until she meets Max, a man who not only has a fighting spirit but refuses to back down from any challenge he encounters, including a protection racket forcing him to hire trafficked workers in his food business. Their lives intersect and connect in the deepest and richest of meaningful ways. Theirs is a story that makes me believe in hope if each of us only stands firm in our fight for it. Ms. Calin has a unique and very special ability to write with heart and humor; I love her books and give them my highest recommendation!
I received an ARC of this story from the author in exchange for my honest review of it.
I am voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book that I received for free.
Paula, the Police Constable with a heart, runs into Max, a famous boxer turned business owner, during a routine patrol stop to discuss a rise in thefts at his business with the manager of the facility. They start off on the wrong footing, but as the story moves on they move past the initial bad impressions. When they start this journey, they start another unknowingly.
A wonderful Christmas Story which leaves you stunned in the enormity of what one caring person, following through on what is a problem that other people have for their own reasons ignored. Ms Calin's stories have always given me a really great read.
The story: A woman cop comes across a situation of exploited employees and tries her utmost to do everything to gain their freedom. In the process, she encounters the CEO of one of the businesses that the mafia employment agency have forced to use the exploited workers, and they bond on a romantic relationship level.
I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book. This is another fantastic read by Emma. A police constable Paula a heroin and has a heart she knows what she wants in life but never quite got there. Until the day she meets Max he has a special needs boy. Great read loved every minute of it. Love all Emmas books cannot wait for next one.
A steamy read full of danger, cops, and romance. I liked the twists and turns as the story unfolded. Was Max a good guy or clever bad guy. Watching Max and Paula's romance unfold was cute and crazy. I thought it was just a quick fun steamy read full of British humor and language that was easy for me to follow.
Another well-written read from author Emma Calin. 150 pages with a subtle hint of jack Higgins writing woven in, but it reads longer because of the book’s depth & detail. A very enjoyable read, I'll be reading more by her after this book!
A great holiday story with mystery, steamy romance, action, humor, spice and more. It is well written and has enough intrigue to keep the readers interest until the very end. I enjoyed reading this Christmas story. I was give this book as a gift and voluntarily give this review.
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an unbiased review. I really enjoyed this riveting book! It is the perfect Christmas book. If only real life mirrored the book! If you miss the magic in Christmas, read this book and rediscover the magic!
Another book of Ms Calin's that is full of twists, turns, and of course, some hot romance! A great blending of crime and love in this page turning story about a cop and her 'Mr Perfect'.....or is he?
Paula and Max made this story one of family and love - both of them had been hurt before but have also seen how much they can love each other. I also enjoyed the action parts of this book with the humour and the quick repartee.
