Vice: a short story

Rate this book
We all like what we like. We need what we need. And most of us can’t tell the difference…

They say everyone has a vice. And there are as many varieties of addictions as there are people on the planet. Angel has tried them all. She’s smoked, drank, gambled and lied. Oh, the exquisite joy of lying. But the most addictive vice of all is something more sinister and more intoxicating altogether.

Vice is a chilling short story about obsession, vengeance, and good old fashioned wickedness. It's You meets Gone Girl with an unexpectedly empowering twist, and it will leave you questioning what you love, what you hate, and what you can’t live without.

Well I did not see that coming.
An author who recently has come to my attention. With the release of this short story what better time to make her acquaintance.
Now vice is a subject that dogs most of us and is often a throw away line in getting to know you better.
In this short piece we meet a girl who speaks in the first person about her vices; tried that, right of passage aged 11 and such like. She admits to being a naturally born liar and although that makes the reader perhaps wary of her disclosure. Her story is engrossing, attending a frat party with her friend. What could she see or do because the events this evening change her forever and establish a vice that has persisted and one she enjoys to this day.
Troubling and unsettling what food writing should do. Draws you in and then leaves you in some discomfort.
I like short stories to try new genres and expose myself to different writing styles. This author writes from the heart and perhaps knows how to manipulate one’s thoughts. Loved it and will read more of her work in due course.

Disconcerting and Compelling

Fun, fast, and slightly fiendish. Widdicks writing is crisp and hypnotic. She pulls you in immediately and doesn't let you go.

Good author

I love this author's style of writing and the way she tells a story it flows so easily. She is definitely going to be on my watch list for favorite author's new releases. I will be reading more by her in the near future for sure.
