She thinks he’s just the arrogant, rich cowboy from the rival ranch down the road. He’s out to prove her wrong…
Born smack-dab in the middle of his more successful siblings, Benji Miller finds himself wondering where his place is on his family’s wealthy ranch. It’s hard to stand out when he has five brothers that just so happen to include the Leader, the Veteran, the Genius, and the Playboy. Benji’s only claim to fame is that he’s really good at fixing things.
But that talent comes to the forefront when Benji’s Ma asks him to help a neighbor in need. Neighbors who just so happen to own the rival Touhey Ranch.
Neighbors who also just so happen to have a beautiful spitfire of a daughter named Danielle—who seems to hate his guts for no good reason.
Danielle can’t figure out the handsome Benji. Usually people like to make fun of her for being a tomboy who just wants to care for the animals on the farm. She figures there must be something up with him showing all this interest in her.
After repeated attempts at trying to get Danielle to show a little kindness, she stills treats Benji like he’s the worst person on earth. Now Benji must decide if he wants to look past her attitude to do the right thing, or let her sour disposition chase him off…
Author’s Note: Her Rival Cowboy is a sweet contemporary western romance novel that is sure to sweep you off your feet!
Brothers of Miller Ranch is a series of books that are about each of the wealthy but humble brothers of Miller Ranch finding true love! Each book is a standalone novel that can be enjoyed without having read the other books of the series.
Dani Touhey is a large girl and was the victim of extensive bullying during her growing up years, especially in high school. As a result she built a wall around herself and trusts nobody but her family and 1 close friend. Her family owns a small ranch near the Miller ranch. When the family barns were burned by arsonists and Dani's brothers are hospitalized with severe burns incurred while saving the animals Dani feels responsible for their injuries.
Benji is the middle son in the Miller family and the fixer of the family. When his Mother suggests he help the Touhey family with clean up after the fire Benji agrees. When he sees Dani working to clean up after the fire with burns of her own he is met with hostility from the feisty Dani. As they work together cleaning up after the fire Benji finds himself enjoying Dani's company. Can he break through her defenses and will Dani find live and acceptance from Benji and his family?
This is well written and the characters are very well developed. This is the third book in the Brothers of Miller Ranch series and my favorite one so far. I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I'm so glad I started reading this series. Each book has been interesting and the casts of each have equally helped keep me invested in the stories. I only wish the Miller's dad wasn't so much of a shadow. He only seems to chop wood and eat a few meals. This family prays and chats at meal times, but it's like the dad isn't even there. Maybe he plays a bigger role later in the series. Still, this book was just as fun and interesting as the first two. It's clean, with a very light dusting of faith. I liked how the heroine was feisty and determined to show the naysayers she was going to keep doing her thing. I also liked how the MCs met and how their relationship progressed. If you enjoy clean romance, cowboys, and a little bit of faith, you might enjoy this book.
Dani is a strong woman who has given up on the idea of love. A plus sized girl who dedicates her life to her family and their struggling ranch. When their barn full of animals as well as tools, hay, and tack is set on fire, she runs in trying to save the horses and cattle as well as the goats the most important part of the income for the ranch. Her two brothers rescue her, and go into the burning barn to finish the rescue of the animals. The resulting injuries, and the loss of property and income gets the attention of Anne Miller. She sends Benji, her middle son to help . Formerly competitive neighbors, the story is up to see what happens as a result of all of the events and the affects on the main characters of Dani and Benjamin
This third book in the Miller Ranch story will take you into opposites attract kind of story, Danielle and her parents need help after a fire and their good neighbours Benji is sent to help but discover life ain’t easy for everyone since he comes from wealth and privileges. Danielle has a hard time with trusting a rich cowboy but he show her there is more that money in his character and he will do anything possible to make her fall in love with him. A beautiful romance that will melt your heart and prove that with time and goodwill , love is a powerful and beautiful thing. We follow the Miller Family boys and their love ones getting to know one another and developed a great family sense with the new members, their forever loves.
Another brilliantly emotive story from the mind of Natalie Dean. Benji was a very likeable character in Ben and Bart's novels, so I had high hopes for this story. But I never expected to love him more than I did Bart! Must be a middle child affinity I share with him. 😉
And Dani. What a broken, yet powerhouse of a woman. I experienced so many emotions with her story. I was bullied at school too (not for my weight, typically [I was stick thin then], but for my brains, "goody two shoes" Christian beliefs and my very plain exterior) so Dani's journey reminded me of my own.
Ah! I love this family! As a mother of 5 girls, a series about 5 boys is awesome to me. 🤣
Wow, this book touches on so many issues of growing up and being hurt by unthinking people. It makes you want to be Dani’s protector. To show Benji that bring the 3rd or middle child is ok, that they are seen. How having or not having money does put a stigma over you. This book will make you laugh, cry and beg for more. Read how Dani and her family seem to be targeted by arsonists. How a unwanted neighbor, Benji, comes to help rebuild the disaster. Watch how friendships are formed and blossom into a union. The series has been a fun read getting to know the Miller family.
Her Rival Cowboy was a most enjoyable book. It is a wonderful story but it also shows the long term damage that can be done by bullying. This story has well developed characters. Benji Miller is helping at the Touhey ranch because the Touhey sons are hospitalized from burns received in an arson fire. Dani Touhey is working despite her burns. Both main characters suffer from low self esteem. It is interesting to see God's plan for these two evolve. I read this in one sitting and was sorry when I reached the end.
Of Benji, the third Miller son, had a type, it would be a Rubenesque woman. So when an arsonist strikes their neighbors place and his mom asks him to go help, he never refuses his mom. But while there is a ton of destruction, the bright spot is the red haired daughter who thinks she is just another cat girl. Dani Touhey wants to be!I've that fat is just another adjective, but with mean girls like Rachel still trying to re!I've their high school glory days, Benji has his work cut out for him persuading her she's not another project.
Low heat, Christian “clean” romance between the town outcast and one of the Golden Boys of the Miller family. I read because of the blurb - and the story hit all the proper points and I didn’t feel gypped that the emotional-physical level only seemed to go to a particular depth. (No pun intended) The MMC seemed almost too good (ie innocent) to be true. It was nice to read about a guy who finds voluptuousness well, voluptuous!
Love cowboys and proud you can find great 👍ones in Texas. Adore that they are thought first one couldn't be outdone but this was fascinating and showed true feelings we all have really good about how all of us are fragile and cowboys are gentlemen and know how to make a woman feel like a lady. You are my favorite writer as a Texan you made me so privileged, there's nothing like remembering home good to have such awesome feelings Carmen
Dani is a strong woman who had a hard childhood being bullied for her size and her family. She pushed through it and came out on top, with some baggage. Benji is the middle child of the wealthy family and too earning ranch. He feels lost wrapped in daily chores at his family ranch. When the fires start on Dani's family ranch, Benji is there to help out. Another happy ending for the Miller Brothers.
I chose this rating because this is the type of book I like to read. I was always heavy when I was young. I went through a lot of teasing so I identified with Dani. I could recommend this book to any of my friends or grandchildren and not have to subject them to any offcolor sex scenes. I loved the way she explained how people fall in love and the tempting that makes it hard to control the urge to go further than is right.
This story really sheds light on the reality of people's lives who "do not fit in" with society's stereotypes. The hardships and abuse people have to contend with every single day, is distressing. Hopefully we can all do better at making a positive difference to those around us, as Benji does in a way in this story.
Well written and engaging, this story is a rewarding romance, hitting the right spots and keeping the reader entertained. Recommended for readers who enjoy wholesome and innocent relationships where the attraction between the main characters are palpable and they can resist the temptation to make it more physical. A HEA without explicit scenes.
This is a special and very sweet romance with a lot of deep and meaningful moments that will hopefully make us all better person as they journey towards unconditional love and understanding.
What a wonderful story of love overcoming great difficulties. It was nice to have a full figured woman find love and happiness with a hunky cowboy. But please, put a back door in the barns!
If it was written by a middle school student. Otherwise, it sounds childish, amateurish, and a tad on the boring side. I’m sure it’s fine story, and would be great, with a good editor. It’s just not there quite yet.
With all of the turmoil related to racial equity right now, this was a great book that included a theme of how much we can hurt others we perceive as different and the barriers we create between ourselves and others. A beautiful love story.
1,5. Again a bit heavy on the religious stuff and I predict it getting even worse in book 5. I think I'll pass on the rest of the books in the series/bundle. I've had enough of these boring, bland, bible reading, billionaire, bullied big girl loving mama's boys.
I really liked that this story was about overcoming adversity, with the help of friends and neighbors. It also highlighted the very damaging effect schoolyard bullying can have on a person.
I am loving the Brothers of Miller Ranch. I have basically zipped through the first three books, they are that good. Did not want to put them down. Great small town dynamics and romance.
I enjoyed reading this ranch book. I especially liked the characters. I also liked that Dani was a little chunky, and not the usual "perfect" woman. Benji loved her just like she was. It was refreshing to see! It is a good read, and I enjoyed it.
Sweet story about overcoming self doubt and being happy with who you are. This book is a heartwarming read with wonderful characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
