Restless after schooling, James traveled and experienced plenty of adventures. He has been shot at, scaled Pyramids, climbed mountains, been through earthquakes, police detained and even swum with beavers.

James specialized in getting lost quite a bit, like in the Canadian wilderness in bear season, as well as experiencing hypothermia, dysentery, muggings, altitude sickness, thefts, a broken neck, desert breakdowns, etc.

Inadvertently these experiences set James up for a big writing journey. (If only I’d gone into real adventuring like his old school-friend, Bear…)

In the 1990s James worked as a journalist for the financial pages of the Yorkshire Post, scooping the infamous Gerald Ratner; ‘Crap’ story.

James designed and built gardens for several years in London before upping sticks to a small village between the Dales and the Moors of North Yorkshire.

The inspirational landscapes of bleak hills, old monasteries, and expansive views were an ideal choice for the setting of the Eden Chronicles series. James commenced writing the series in 2007.

Following a brief and rather embarrassing appearance on ITV’s‚”Honeymoons from Hell” TV show (fleeing a psychotic African safari operator), James became an extremely minor celebrity. Fortunately, this happened pre-YouTube!

As a youth, James had his sights on playing the game of cricket for England, but a long list of injuries and a genuine lack of talent forced the issue. However, a notable sporting triumph in 2013 saw James row the English Channel and the 21 tidal miles of the Thames in aid of MND and Breakthrough Breast cancer.

James retains his childhood passion for making dens, tall stories, and stargazing.

James Erith has written a prequel which is really mysterious and captivating making sure readers will go on to read the rest of the Eden Chronicles, wanting to know how this tale evolves. A tale which starts with John de Lowe, an archaeologist who finds a scroll which captures his curiosity, and he travels all the way to the desert to a place called Havilah where he meets a guide, Ahmed who sets a test for him which nearly kills him. However, once he survives he finds out things which are to happen in the future and these regard children he is meant to have and who are somehow chosen to save the world and humankind. Looking into the future is never a good idea as John and Charlotte find out as they live their life always waiting for the day the dreams start! What part will Mrs. Pye, the lady who fell from the sky and Old Man Wood play in the following chronicles and the saving of the world? Can the teenagers really save humankind? are they up to this?

This has answered my question

From the first book of the Eden Chronicles I have always wondered why the parents had left the children. How could they! My question has been answered in Truth and I was not disappointed. The author captivates you with the mystery of why the children have been chosen and gives you another unexpected development in the young families history. If you haven't started the Eden Chronicles yet then this is a great place to start. Happy reading.

Opinions: In most cases, I try to step away from short stories. Because they're so short, the plots aren't complex, the themes are poorly supported, and there is no room for character development. Fortunately, because Truth is a prequel that runs into The Power and The Fury, we do get a lot of said elements! The characters that are missing for some unknown reason in book one are introduced, a few plot-holes/things readers wondered are explained, and the themes are re-established. Truth was a fun read that yes, explained a lot to the readers, but also was a break from the teenager's experiences with the prophecy. The twist ending (if you could call it that, I consider it one) was one that leads the reader to go, "Ohhhhhhh" out loud. I thought Truth was great despite a few small issues such as grammar or writing style.

Not Enough Meat

I don't know how else to sum it up in a short sentence. I can understand the need for large gaps in time. In the moments that were detailed, there wasn't enough detail. It would gave been good to have multiple POVs or perhaps a third party POV. Perhaps even kept it the same, just given more world and/or character building. I have no idea what era this was. I'm kinda clueless as to what to imagine their home to look like.
