3.75 iron-like STARS ★★★✬✩
This book is for you even if… you didn't really love the prequel. Won't have to convince those who did.

Overall.
I love it when a sequel is better than the prequel, as was the case here. Lately, I experienced just the opposite a lot and that really sucks. Aspects such as the plot, pace and characters definitely experienced an improvement in Heir of Iron Hearts. In addition, the teenage angst is continued, and that's what gets our ovens hot, amiright?
It wasn't perfect but I didn't expect it to be. It was enjoyable, sometimes funny and shocking, which is all I can ask for in a YA book. I couldn’t really say there was something I disliked particularly. I do however expect the series to keep on picking up, so the next one hopefully blows me away. I'm excited to continue the journey through the faerie realm.

Characters. Well, there are some interesting fellas we come across in this book, I can tell ya. My favourite is the misunderstood bad boy that does terrible things although we all know he's are better than that although I'd do my best to keep guys like him at arms-length in real life. As I said many times over, we want soft bois, they are just way more swoony.
We also have some purely evil folks.+ and then there are the ones between a rock and a hard place, which makes for an interesting mix. I could never really tell who's sympathies lie with whom. Furthermore, a lot of development is to be witnessed. It's always something I enjoy in a good book.

World(-building). Introducing the other courts and their motivations helped me to settle in the kingdom-y atmosphere of the book. Because the prequel took place in the human world as well, I had trouble adjusting to some of the topics and themes that were introduced. Luckily, with Heir of Iron Hearts, I fully arrived in this snowy, icy place of wonder.

The arch of suspense was mainly fueled by the many opposing characters and motivations. The way Ivy is torn between her duties as a princess and the things her heart tells her puts increasing pressure on her throughout the plot, which thus keeps picking up steadily.

What’s happening.
‘At the darkest time of year, Lord Yule laid down his beard of snow and cloak of frost and ice to illuminate the gloom.’

And gloomy it is indeed, Ivy's new home. While the white snow and the euphoria of the winter court radiate light, it is somewhat fogged over by the returning presence of Prince Arden, her future husband and part-time-trouble maker. The resulting gloom is almost blinding Ivy. How far will Prince Arde go to prove his deviant streak? And how far will Ivy go until her heart can't defy the love she has for Bear anymore?
Con:
future hubby is a slimy philanderer
bear always near, yet so far away
winter court still under threat
Pro:
best friend as companion
when there are enemies, there are also allies
slimy philanderer does have some morals

Love the fast pace of the story, the twists and turns, action and fantasy world! This was a great continuation of book 1 with deeper character building,a broader insight into the fae realm, and revelation of family dynamics and deceit. I finished this in just two days and jumping into book 3 to continue this adventure!

I liked reading this one just as much as the first one and was glade that there wasn't a dull moment in this book. I was not happy that alena tried to kill queen lyric and happy that she ended up safe as a result of her daughter ivy. Even though it cost her to lose her guard and one true love. I'm hoping in the next one you find out if ivys guard bear is rescued.

Only a few weeks has passed since Ivy found out-and accepted-that she is the heir to the Winter Court. With ongoing classes to teach her the history and the ways of the Fae she also finds her head and her heart battling it out as well. She knows she can’t ever have him, but her love for Bear is constant and though she’s engaged to the Unseelie Prince she can’t shake it. Admist that drama we soon find out that Ivy’s aunt has ulterior motives and will not be outdone for the right to the throne.

I loved the last book and I knew it would only get better and I was so right! This was a fast paced book with a wonderful plot and great attention to detail. It paints the Faerie courts so well that you can imagine everything from the largest tree to the tiniest snowflake. The plot is solid and the twists that are thrown in are impeccable.

We are reunited with Jules again and she definitely delivers sass and sarcasm brilliantly. The characters are well developed that you do start to empathise with them and cheer for them at all the right moments.
The ending leaves us on perfect position for another book and I look forward to that one!!

I definitely recommend this book/series to all Fae lovers. It’s the type of book that you can wholly concentrate on and never get bored, it’s very easy to follow along and it does hook you in from the first word.

Ulmemini 5 - Raamat, mille aluseks on mütoloogia Bekah Harris Heir of Iron hearts (Iron crown faerie tales 2). 298 lk Dreamlake media 2019.
4/5

Book 2 surprised me. It was intense and attention grabbing from page 1. Had life not gotten in the way, I’m sure I would have read this one in one day just like the first one.

Harris draws you in from the beginning and takes you to the Winter World on the slightest breath of a breeze. Her characters are truly developing and turning into souls that you are joining on their journey.

Ivy is joined in this book by her besties, Jules. And oh thank god that Harris didn’t make her the stupid best friend who just tags along for the sake of it. She gave her a good story line, a great arc, and such a depth of development in this book, it’s simply insane.

So far, I am still disappointed in the development of the character named Bear. I really hope the next book opens him up a bit more and he isn’t just a love struck puppy who pouts. I mean, I can picture an actor or two that would pull that look off really well… but I hope that Harris gives him the same depth and soul that she has for other characters.

Again, these aren’t the longest books; they aren’t the most in depth, make you ponder the meaning of the universe, but they are wonderfully written, improve with each book, and the characters will make you smile, cry, and throw things.

Final score – 4 out of 5.

>Book Review – Heir of Iron Hearts
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Iron Crown Faerie Tales series and ends in a cliffhanger. The love triangle of Bear-Ivy-Arden begins. Arden doesn’t seem like he has a chance to win Ivy, as he is superficial and unpleasant. Watching Bear look toward Ivy with such longing was heartbreaking. Arden brings Jules to the fae realm, but causes her to make a deadly promise. A new character, Unseelie Prince, Padraic, is introduced. He is instantly infatuated with Jules.
>Ivy’s evil aunt, Alena, captures Bear and tries to kill Ivy’s mother. The reader finds out the truth regarding Ivy’s father. That whole story arc with Lyric and her guard foreshadows the eventual ending of Ivy’s love triangle.
>This book is appropriate for a young adult (18+) audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I did not think the character of Alena was all that tricky. It seemed as if everyone just let Alena run wild over Fae causing their own issues. Finding out the Arden also slept with Alena was yucky. Although the book is not romantically explicit, the idea of a father and son sleeping with the same woman is not really YA.

Full of drama and some heartbreak.

So Ivy is the Princess of Winter Court and she bound her magic with her birth mother Queen Lyric and saved Winter realm from dying. She also proved to them all that her magic was stronger than even the Queen's. Bear becomes her offical bodyguard but it is forbidden for them to be together. Ivy is engaged to Prince Arden of the Unseelie Fae therefore she and Bear are forced to break up. It nearly destroyed them but nothing could be done. When Lyric is poisoned the kidnapped by Summer Court , Ivy must find a way to get her back quickly as Alena, Lyric's sister is the responsible for it all. Will Ivy and the Winter Fae be able to rescue the Queen before Alena kills her? Read to find out! You wont regret it.
Enjoy, 💜

This book was hard to get! Kindle didn't have it, and neither did the library. I finally broke down and ordered the paperback and waited 2 weeks.
I found the characters intriguing in the first book and loved the discovery Ivy experienced in finding out her true life story. But this second book, I found predictable and the grammatical errors abundant and disappointing. The writing was simple and the dialogue left me wanting more from the characters. I loved the story and the world of the fae, but I was disappointed in the second book. Especially after I waited so get the 2nd book. I will not be continuing with the series.

Very good

This one was all rising action as the second book in the series. It has a very nice day place that kept me interested the entire time. My only criticism is the rescue mission in the book was over too fast and too easily. Loses were mentioned but, more as an after thought/detail, not during the event. Other than that I really enjoyed it; I find all the characters pretty interesting.

Better and better!

I’m so glad this series is complete (other than an apparent epilogue that’s forthcoming?) because if I had to wait to see where this story goes I think I’d explode. Jules is in the Fae realm now, Bear is in danger and Nan is right there in the midst of it all. Off to start book 3 now! (I’ve finished books 1 & 2 in one day if that helps anyone see how completely awesome this series is!)

Ardan or Bear...oh the choices Ivy must make. This fast moving novel definitely does not leave you disappointed. Angry cousins, a unruly aunt who literally sleeps with all of the men and a mother who sacrificed way to much. Ivy has to come to terms with her new role as the winter princess quicker than she may like because the winter court heavily relies on her binding her magic and making alliances with the unseelie.

Complications pileup in the marvelous book. Lies, deceit, manipulation and forbidden love. Ivy, and bear fights against the odds of the fairy realm. Silently, waging war amongst themselves because they know that right now, there is no way for them to be together. Arden, the unseelie prince, is working on winning her good graces, and in that attempt to do so kidnapped Juliet. Now alena has got bear and is now holding him captive. This is juicy, raw and fresh. I want more.

The story continues

The story of Ivy, Bear, Jules and Ardan continues. Ardan is showing that he has some true feelings for Ivy but she’s having none of it. Her heart is still with Bear and there’s a Lot of pining going on. The Summer Court gets involved and we see more of the plots and machinations of the evil aunt. Still enjoying the series, though there are a few errors.

I love faerie books so much.

This one literally just knocks it out of the park. In the first book, it was all about Ivy figuring out who she was. Now, we delve deeper into the politics of Faerie Court, and Ivy learns what it means to be a Queen. I loved this book more than the first one.

Fucking Alena. I really hate that fucking bitch! I swear I'm so ready for her to get what's coming to her. Ivy is a damn genius. Arden is a damn moron. And omg Juliet and Padriac would be perfect together!! I hope things can work out for them. Violet, even though she changed in the end, I still hate her for what pain she caused! Ugh I can't wait to read the next book

DNF at 65%. Found myself skipping pages and just not caring. Characters weren’t that engaging. Storyline had a lot of flip flopping. Multiple points of view were distracting. Love story came about too quickly and not very deep or believable. Author tried for multiple levels of twists and surprises, but they ended up making no sense. Just didn’t care what happened.

A good sequel.

My issue is that I don't really care much for Bear & Ivy as a couple. Unseelie Prince all the way for me.

I'm on the fence about reading book three, so I'll wait to see reviews/spoilers when it comes out.

I finished book two in a day. This book doesn't have a lot going on. It goes by pretty fast. The characters are not really fleshed out but that could just be the pacing. There are a t least six books in the series.
