Our relationship with God is personal and private. It is also fulfilling, bright, satisfying and every positive word in the dictionary. This book brings walking in the faith into the light and can help those with strong faith bring it back into focus and others who are just beginning to dip their toes into speak.
My grandmother, Lila was one of the most faithful women I have ever met. She never doubted God would provide. My grandfather read the Bible as a fiction book. Two different people in one household. She would ask for something, big or small, and always received an answer; even if it wasn’t what she wanted. She would always tell me it was the right answer because it was God’s answer. It took me years to figure that one out. This is a book she would have loved reading because it was written by a kindred spirit.
This book is laid out in easy, fast to read chapters with helpful sections for explanations with those ideas and passages that may be hard to understand. I enjoyed reading it and will refer back to it at times when I am feeling low. At times, we all have moments of feeling low and may have doubts on whether God is still with us. Luckily, we snap out of it and realize at our lowest points, he is with us the most.
Living in the instant gratification world tries to turn faith and religion into something you can pick up at a fast food drive-up menu. We live in a society that believes life has to be played out in social media. This can make or break a life with just a few words. This also give power to those who cannot bully someone face-to-face because of cowardice but can do their worst being anonymous in cyberspace.
We are becoming a society who now believes we can say anything we want with no repercussions and be surprised when we are challenged regarding our words. People often forget how painful words can be to others.
I enjoyed the refresher course on Jesus’ life very much. When in doubt, the sections at the end bring clarification to certain sections. This is a great book to read. It is perfect for people at all stages of their religious lives. The relationship with God is something that is developing everyday.

All about Jesus in Our Lives Today (and always)

This is a fantastic book which certainly helped me to know Jesus and myself better. It is firmly rooted in the Bible and asks searching questions of us that help to clarify where we are in relationship with Him as well as guidance and advice on drawing closer.

I loved it, it's a beautiful, practical and encouraging read

This book was published in 2019 and is still fresh in my opinion today. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley and I appreciate it. This is my own unsolicited opinion.
If you want to learn about Jesus Christ or add to the knowledge you already have this is a good summation with scriptures (Bible verses) to bring everything together. The book by R. Christian Bohlen starts from the miraculous birth of Christ, goes on to cover His ministry from the age of 30 and the days leading to the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. It is well written and easy to understand.
I have been very attuned to Jesus Christ in my personal life for over fifty years and there are new insights for me as I read this. It made a good accompaniment to my daily devotions. I also feel it would be good information for anyone who wants to know more about the "Christmas baby" who has changed lives for centuries.
We all have our own thoughts and opinions. This is a good way to see what the man did, who the Saviour is, for many, and you can form your own personal reaction. I give the book a 4.5. I'd even read some portions again.

Jesus Christ His Life and Mine is a religious book that is written to inspire people. It spans the life of Jesus from his birth in Bethlehem to his travels, miracles and ultimate sacrifice. Readers of this book do not have to have prior knowledge of the Bible to enjoy it. Bohlen writes that is important to understand the teachings of Jesus so that we can live better lives and help lift up those around us. When we follow the Commandments and the wisdom that Jesus preached, we can live good and happy lives. Many of the sermons in which Jesus spoke involved compassion, such as Love Thy Neighbor. In today's hi-tech world most of us do not even know who our neighbors are. We can apply compassion in our daily lives when we interact with people and when we are on social media sites.
The story also contains historical context to help the reader understand the politics and way of life during Jesus' time. More than two thousand years ago when Jesus was born, Judea which is now Israel was ruled by the Roman Empire. Anyone who dissented against the Roman rulers was put to death. There was no tolerance for rebellion at that time. Before the birth of Jesus, a young woman named Mary from Nazareth was visited by an Angel sent from God. The Angel told her that she was chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah and he was to be named Jesus. Scripture from the book of Luke accompanies this story. There are sections at the end of the Chapters entitled How Does This Apply to Me? In which the author asks questions that the reader can answer.
In the Old Testament of the Bible, there were many prophets that foretold that a Messiah would be born and would lead the Jewish people to freedom. After the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, an Angel sent from God told a group of local Shepherds to spread the good news. I found the meanings of the names interesting. The Hebrew name for Jesus is Yeshua which means, “helper of God”.
As a young boy growing up in Nazareth, Jesus enjoyed going to Temple and when he was about 30 years old he began to preach sermons to the people. After being baptized by John the Baptist, the people of Nazareth began to believe that Jesus was the true Messiah, but some were skeptical.
Later, when Jesus had assembled his disciples and traveled to Capernaum, Jesus cast out the evil spirits of a possessed man in a Synagogue full of witnesses. He also began to heal all of the sick people of the town. There are many good stories that are retold in this book with the author's thoughts and impressions to help the reader visualize the amazing life of Jesus.

Jesus Christ, His Life and Mine: The Story of Jesus and How It Applies to Us in the Twitter Era by R. Christian Bohlen is a book that walks the reader through the life of Jesus and hopes to connect them with Christ as never before, especially in this age of social media and online lives. Mr. Bohlen asks the reader to imagine being a witness to Jesus’s life, from his birth to resurrection and ascension, what would you think about him? Would you believe in him? Would you be skeptical or immediately follow him like the disciples did? Through the use of powerful visualization and practical life applications, readers can build a more personal connection with Jesus, grow their faith as well as be energized in their spiritual lives.
Jesus Christ, His Life and Mine is a fresh and easy to read, step by step guide through the life of Jesus Christ and why he is the Savior to all. Through the book, readers will be reenergized why Jesus is still the greatest story ever told. I particularly liked the final chapters as Mr. Bohlen walks through common questions from believers and nonbelievers. The book could easily be used as a Bible study as each section and chapter opens with questions that the readers can answer. Although, I would have put these questions at the end of the chapters instead of in the beginning. I recommend Jesus Christ, His Life and Mine to all Christians, old and new, as they will experience Jesus Christ as never before.

Excellent book for anyone to read and understand more about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. I have recently done Bible studies by several Christian women which he echoed nicely in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The life and teachings of Jesus are described in easy to understand language for a Christian in any stage of their Christian life. This book would be a good study for a group or a Christian book club.
I was provided an advanced reader copy and was under no obligation to provide a review. The opinions expressed are my own. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Got this book through a giveaway for an honest review.
The book follows the life and teachings of Jesus. Explains the meaning behind them, puts it into modern terms.
The author ties stories and explains them into mountain climbing terminology and analogies. About half way through stops the climbing analogies and just explains what the words mean. Which is probably good, not sure how it was going to continue throughout. Write yourself into a corner.
I feel the author did a good job explaining Jesus’ messages. If you’re are into Jesus’ life/teachings this book is a pretty good read.

Jesus Christ, His Life and Mine

This was a lovely book about Jesus's life and the love he had for others. Many examples of his beliefs were discussed in an easy to understand way. It gave a clear picture of Jesus and his beliefs and miracles and the importance of believing through faith and love.

This book would be more suited for the new believers or pre-believers.
"The scriptures warn that if I continue in sin, my conscience will numb, and it will stop working. (See Ephesians 4:18–19.) My interest in doing good things begins to die. I feel far away from God and doubt He is even there. I also become less and less able to do good things. I am driven more and more by selfish behavior. I begin to feel alone, in the dark, and hopeless."

The author takes a journey through the life of Jesus. I loved the content. The writing style, not as much. (Telling/Teaching/Preaching) With that said, this book was okay. I was challenged by the applications at the end of each chapter. This book could be used as a devotional.

Good Overview of the Life of Jesus.

This book is an overview of the gospels. There are lots of questions for application. Some of the questions are a!little off center, but overall this is an enjoyable read.
