I enjoyed this book alot! I've been a massive fan of Audrey Carlan since I had the opportunity to read the amazing Trinity Trilogy (my favorite) and the Falling series. Once more she has succeeded in taking readers on a magical and exciting journey. Resisting Roots is book one of The Lotus House Series and can be read as a standalone. It is a romantic, sensual, hot and steamy love story. This is the kind of book that makes your heart happy.
Genevieve Harper is a twenty-four year-old bombshell yoga instructor with a lot on her plate. Three years ago her parents died in a tragic accident leaving her to raise her two younger siblings Rowan and Mary. She’s working hard to give them food on the table and a roof over their heads. She has bills, responsibilities and doesn’t have time to date or to devote to a man. All she wants is a good and stable life for her and her family. She is a fighter and straight awesome!
Trent Fox is a hot, famous and gifted professional baseball player. He has money, talent and all the women he could possibly want. Until one day a torn hamstring takes him to the Lotus House Yoga Center for physical therapy. Genevieve became his personal instructor to help him recover from his injury. Trent is instantly taken with the lovely Vivvie. Something about her makes him wanting to take care of her and for the first time in his life to settle down. He is used to being a player, but when he is near her, he wants more. No one is more shocked than he. But can a player, on and off the field change and aspire for a different life ?
The passion and chemistry between the two of them was intense and made for some very hot scenes. One in particular in the private yoga classroom got me hot flashes and I had to fan myself while reading this spectacular descriptive and tasteful erotic scene. Extremely hot!!
Both Genevieve and Trent went out looking for a good time and found a hell of a lot more than they’d bargained for. Can love grow between a woman who’s rooted in her life and a man who resists any notion of staying in one place ?
I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and change throughout the story and how their lives become intertwined. As always Audrey Carlan’s characters, both primary and secondary are utterly likable and she did a remarkable job of portraying all of them. I also liked the yoga reference at the beginning of each chapter that brings a spiritual dimension to the story. A story about finding roots, and what makes you feel whole in this world.
I'm definitely looking forward to Audrey Carlan's next release Sacred Serenity. Namaste!

No esperaba gran cosa de éste libro, tambien es cierto que era la primera vez que leía algo de la autora, y tengo que decir que me ha gustado mucho su estilo, y me ha sorprendido la historia.
A pesar de ser muy cliché, me ha entretenido un montón, porque me han encantado los protagonistas y xq me ha parecido muy original el tema de las clases de yoga.
No es una historia de las que dejan huella, pero tiene algo ...

Genevieve es instructora de yoga y su vida no es nada fácil, trabaja muy duro desde que murieron sus padres y tiene que hacerse cargo de sus hermanos pequeños.
Trent es un jugador de béisbol profesional que debido a una lesión debe asistir a clases de yoga. Allí en La casa del Loto conocerá a Genevieve y sentirá una atracción inmediata, por lo que pedirá clases particulares para que ella las clases y le muestre lo sensual que puede parecer el arte del yoga.
Me ha gustado mucho, los dos se ven atraídos des del primer momento en que se ven y la relación va surgiendo como algo natural entre los dos. Los dos protagonistas me han gustado mucho aunque Trent a veces hace comentarios machistas un poco desafortunados, pero que ya van con su personalidad y como han sido sus relaciones con las mujeres. Me encanta esta autora, como escribe y como explica las escenas eróticas. Es una novela erótica que aunque sea una saga se puede leer de forma individual ya que es autoconclusivo.
No se lleva las cinco estrellas porque la verdad, se me ha hecho corto 😅, me ha faltado saber más sobre su relación.

⤐Overall.
Okay, I sure have some stuff to say about this book. First of all, it did not grip me at all. I read the first few chapters and new this story wouldn't get exciting in my eyes. I kept to it because - helloooo? it's about yogis. Naturally, I couldn't let that opportunity pass. Which is why I am even sadder this book fucking sucked. Apart from the boring storytelling, there are a couple of things that really bothered me about the so-called "hero". Said hero is hands down an asshole. Reasons are:
a) it is clearly communicated that a woman is only noteworthy because she is beautiful and
b) disrespect toward repeatedly voiced preferences is okay and
c) waste is absolutely legit and only noteworthy in it's economic but not it's ecological value
d) he has the audacity to be pissed at the imagination of her having had many men all the whole he's the one having a different sex partner every week???
e) makes her feel like birth control is her responsibility
f) doesn't take her wish not to get pregnant into account properly

This book is for you if… you want to get more bored than you already are. Disrespectful and ignorant behaviour, misogyny and stealthing-like behaviour.

Resisting Roots by Audrey Carlan ~ 5 Namaste Stars
“Be kind to yours, for you only get one in this lifetime.”
WHOA WHOA WHOA! I just finished this book in one sitting. LOVED IT!!!! Seriously, I could not put this book down. This is a standalone, contemporary, baseball star and yoga instructor romance.
I completely adore the characters in this book. Genevieve is a 24-year-old woman who is a beautiful blond bombshell. She is smart, strong and not easily fooled by the sexy smile of a hot baseball star. She is a yoga instructor by day and hair dresser working out of her garage by night. Since her parents’ tragic accident three years prior, Genevieve devoted all her time to taking care of her two siblings, keeping them safe, fed, and a roof over their head. Genevieve has given up on her dream in order for her sibs to pursue theirs. She does not have a boyfriend or date, and the closest she got to any sexy time is with her battery operated boyfriend. Well, that is until Trent Fox barged into her life unannounced and rocked her Zen world.
Trent is a super star on the baseball field and an even bigger star in the bedroom…wink wink . He is a player, bedding his way through away-games with one woman per city. His MO is wham, bam, thank you ma’am. He does not do relationship and hasn’t have girlfriend in 10 years. The last thing on his mind is settling down. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury forced him off the field and straight to the Lotus House Yoga Center for recuperation. That’s where he met the curvy petite blond with candy-coated glossy lips which he nick names gumdrop. There is something about Genevieve that Trent can’t resist. He was mesmerized and whipped the first yoga session. Can love grow between a woman who’s rooted in her life and a man who resists a notion of staying in one place?
I really LOVE this story you guys. It’s totally different – I haven’t read anything about yoga before and I read A LOT. On top of a beautiful love story, it was an educational experience for me. I am ashamed to say I know nothing about Yoga. I thought it was some type of meditation voodoo. Geeze, am I in for a rude awakening. I love the way the author incorporates Yoga positions and chakra teachings at the beginning of each chapters and within the chapters she embeds these teachings and made it part of the story.
“The light in me, bows, to the light in you…”
“When I am in that place in me, and you are in that place in you…”
“We are one.”
“Namaste.”
The Meladhara Chakra or the root chakra of Trent has been blocked which explained why Trent was flighty, on the go and unsettled. That is until he fell head over heel in love with Genevieve. He can now see the red tones chakra within which finally guided him home.
“Wherever you are is where I want to lay down my roots.” – I mean that’s about the sweetest thing I ever heard said from a man who loves a woman. Seriously, I learned so much about the beauty and spiritual practice of yoga from this book.
Resisting roots is a love story full of lust and desire between two people where opposites attract. There is something to be said about a well written sex scene. Let me tell you these love making scenes are super HOT – making my sacral chakra sings with happiness LOL . But besides that, this story also teaches us about the values of family, spiritual healing, love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. I laughed so hard so many times in the book but I also bawled my eyes out reading about the siblings struggling without their parents, making new memories while preserving the memory of their parents. The sacrifice that Genevieve makes for her brother and sister’s future – it is truly touching. Not to mention Rowan – he is a young teenager but due to circumstance has quickly stepped into the man of the house role to protect his sisters. I sort of hope the author will give Rowan his own story. I absolutely adore Audrey Carlan’s writing – it is fantastic full of wicked banters, hot sex scenes, short and descriptive narrative. The storyline is definitely unique – I really enjoyed the spiritual theme of this book.
“I’ve laid down my roots, and they are there to stay.”
Resisting roots is the first book I read of Audrey Carlan and it left me wanting more – like right NOW. I highly recommend this book… sweet, sexy, wonderful storyline. I am sort of feeling blissful, all warm and fuzzy inside after I finished. READ IT!!!! I am so looking forward to book two, Sacred Serenity, which will be a love story between Genevieve’s best friend Amber St. James and Dash Alexander.

Genevieve is a young yoga instructor and part-time hair dresser with a mountain of responsibility and no time for men. Trent is a great MLB player player who is recovering from hamstring surgery. When Trent is ordered to take his recovery seriously or risk losing his team contract, he attends Genevieve's yoga class. He quickly becomes intrigued by Genevieve and ends up setting up private sessions with her. Neither can deny their attraction to one another and things quickly heat up between the two. With history of being a playboy, Genevieve is hesitant to jump into a relationship with Trent while he tries convincing her he wants more.
Overall I thought this book was good enough to keep me interested but I'm not sure I would read it multiple times. Some of the terminology was a little bizarre. Trent was made to seem like a badass alpha male, and in some ways he was, but then he'd use words like criminy. There was terminology throughout that didn't seem to fit the characters. Also, there wasn't really any huge climactic moment. Any anticipation that was built up kind of fell flat for me and was just brushed off like no big deal.

Raíces profundas es la primera parte de la serie ¨La casa del loto¨ que consta de 7 títulos, cada uno con unos protagonistas distintos y por el momento se sabe que Titania va a publicar el siguiente en mayo. Puede que no tenga la historia más novedosa, pero me atrajo mucho la hermosa portada y que uno de sus ejes principales fuera el yoga (una disciplina que no practico, pero me atrae), sin embargo, el libro no ha resultado lo que esperaba.
La trama gira entorno al yoga, tenemos mucha tensión sexual y romance, nos habla de la importancia de la familia, la espiritualidad o los chakras, todo ello con un estilo directo, sencillo y bastante adictivo, la autora consigue que una historia de lo más simple y con bastantes pegas se beba de una sentada, sin darte apenas cuenta. Eso es una de las mejores cosas que tiene a su favor este libro, lo fácil que es sumergirte entre sus páginas y lo interesante de la aportación del centro de yoga y sus empleados. También el inicio me pareció muy prometedor y la parte de Vivvie con sus hermanos me agradaba, pero poco a poco esta primera impresión se fue diluyendo y gran parte de culpa la tiene Trent, un personaje que no me ha gustado nada de nada, con unos pensamientos y comentarios que me sacaban de mis casillas y que además me han resultado bastante repetitivos, es uno de los peores personajes con los que me he topado en mucho tiempo y lo malo es que tiene más peso que ella en la historia -en mi opinión claro- y ¡uf! con lo bueno que hubiera sido darle más profundidad y construcción a Vivvie que despuntaba como un personaje fuerte, capaz de sacar a su pequeña familia adelante sin ayuda de nadie y con unos buenos principios...

Das war übel.
Richtig übel.
Die Übersetzung war einfach mal unglaublich furchtbar!! Zumindest hatte ich dadurch was zu lachen. Ansonsten ging‘s hier um Sex der sich als insta-love tarnen wollte. Ohne Erfolg. Richtig übel.
Die Übersetzung war einfach mal unglaublich furchtbar!! Zumindest hatte ich dadurch was zu lachen. Ansonsten ging‘s hier um Sex der sich als insta-love tarnen wollte. Ohne Erfolg. Das Management schickt ihn in ein Lotus House wo er Yoga praktizieren soll. Dort lernt er die äußert hübsche Yogalehrerin Genevieve kennen die ihm Privatstunden gibt.
Genevieve kümmert sich im Privatleben um ihre beiden jüngeren Geschwister, weil die Eltern bei einem Unfall ums Leben
gekommen sind.
Die zwei Protagonisten verlieben sich natürlich ineinander und haben viel Sex.

Das Cover hingegen gefällt mir sehr und die Farbkonstellation auch. Die Blumen wirken ein wenig wie Lotusblumen, die wiederum das Thema Yoga repräsentieren, und die Farbe Rot ist das Wurzelchakra.

4,5⭐ Me ha encantado, primer libro que leo de la autora y me ha gustado mucho además que me encanta el yoga. Adoro a Trent😁. Deseando leer los restantes libros de la serie.

To be honest this is my very first book by this author - and I am not saying I won't read anything from her anymore but I am so not impressed.
Our h is a lovely girl - really - who even gives up her personal dreams to raise her brother and little sis. I truly adored her.
On the other hand, our H is most of the time so irritating. He had some smooth move and I liked him a bunch of times, not all the time though. Let me say he is a caveman what is totally fine with me, he is a baseball player who attends yoga class because of his previous torn hamstring. I do not do yoga, probably should because look a lot of fun. Anyway - I hate double standards, he is so jealous, even when they first met and she mentioned the brother's name, but he let it happen to be in a compromising situation. He is wasted but I do not care if he is sober or tipsy - in the 19th chapters (from a total of 21 chapters) a groupie just landed in his lap and you know what he did? Nothing. I wanted to throat punch him so badly. He is in love or what and he should have pushed her to the ground at the very first moment. At least he tried to fix things when he had realized Genevieve was there witnessing the lovely scene.
"As a matter of fact, we’d had several nights of fun over the years. She was a team groupie. Followed us from place to place, bedding whichever player suited her fancy at the time. She was a damn good lay, very attentive, and her dick-sucking skills were top-notch."
"DawnMarie scoffed, leaned her fake tits against my chest, and licked up the side of my neck. I couldn’t help it. My dick responded, hardening painfully in my jeans".
So yeah, I get he is a guy and this is biology buuuttt I do not want to see these thoughts at end of the book. So disrespectful.
Overall it was good, the author can write unique and sizzling intimate scenes, I can admit it. I am just not in love with our guy, that is the problem - I could not fall in love with him, at all.
Also, he did not convince me he is ready to settle down.
Genevieve is it for me. No bullshit. I just gotta get through the away games and keep my shit in check.

Originally, I gave Resisting Roots 4 stars. But after taking a night to ponder the story, I think there are too many errors to try to avoid and that I need to point out. I did enjoy the story though so it still receives 3 stars.
Resisting Roots is unique and different. I can tell Audrey Carlan put a lot of thought into writing this novel, and it shows. It is a really wonderful story.
But. There are holes. It feels very rushed at the end and it doesn't flow as well as it could. I also noticed a lot of editing errors which surprised me from a published novel that is part of a long series. I don't know how the things I noticed were missed because they were not small errors. They were sentence structure and word placement errors, again, not hard to miss. I think there was also just too much going on at one time too. Carlan kept throwing in new plot twists and events that weren't needed to keep our attention, she already had it.
Like I said though, it is a really great book. The seduction and romance is there. It's a little bad boy turned good guy for the poor, sweet girl next door. It definitely will keep you on your toes. Plus, the yoga setting is a nice twist on this contemporary romance novel.

¡Hola a todos!
De nuevo tengo en mis manos uno de los libros de la autora Audrey Carlan, publicada por Titania. Raíces profundas es la primera entrega de la serie La casa del loto compuesta por siete libros. Esta vez nos sumergimos en el mundo del yoga, ya que la autora es asidua practicante.
Trent Fox es un jugador de béisbol profesional que ha sufrido una grave lesión durante uno de sus partidos. Después de la operación, la rehabilitación no está yendo todo lo bien que le gustaría y su médico le recomienda que a sus ejercicios habituales añada unas sesiones de yoga. En principio no está de acuerdo con eso del yoga y se niega, pero Ron, su agente, le obliga haciéndole ver que la renovación de su contrato está en juego si no se recupera adecuadamente. Para sus clases acudirá a La casa del loto, y al conocer a su profesora su mundo se pondrá patas arriba, por lo que al finalizar la clase le propondrá tomar clases particulares todos los días durante un mes. Con eso Trent consigue dos cosas, ver a diario a Genevieve y acelerar su recuperación.
Genevieve Harper tiene una vida algo complicada, hace tres años de que sus padres murieron en un accidente, quedando a cargo de sus dos hermanos pequeños, Rowan y Mary. Genevieve, ha tenido que dejar sus sueños de lado para criar y sacar adelante a sus hermanos. Tiene dos trabajos, hace pequeños trabajos de peluquería en el garaje de su casa y da clases de yoga en La casa del loto, pero incluso así llega a final de mes a duras penas. Darle clases particulares a Trent le llega como caído del cielo y eso de mencionar el plus que supone comerse a su alumno con los ojos cada vez que lo tiene delante. A pesar de las dificultades Genevieve sigue adelante y no renuncia a la esperanza de llegar a tener algún día lo que tanto desea, terminar sus estudios y tener su propio salón de peluquería.
En su primera clase, Trent se quedará impactado cuando pose su mirada en Genevieve, a ella le pasará lo mismo pero, aunque la tentación es fuerte y desea ceder a ella, no tiene tiempo ni espacio en su vida para una pareja.

Aún así inicia una relación con él pensando en algo casual, darle gusto al cuerpo y luego cada uno por su lado sin que afecte a la vida de ninguno de ellos. Pero Trent no lo tiene tan claro y quiere más, dejarse llevar para ver hasta donde llegan las cosas.
La atracción es instantánea, a primera vista, sin embargo la tensión sexual no resuelta entre ambos llenará páginas, ya que por una cosa o por otra les costará encontrar el momento donde consumar esa atracción.
Me ha parecido una historia típicamente americana, los roles están totalmente estereotipados, muy al estilo tradicional estadounidense. Él es el hombre por lo que le toca la tarea de protector, de ser la figura masculina que el joven Rowan necesita, el que arregla las cosas y se encarga que todo esté en orden. Sin embargo, y a pesar de que Genevieve es la que se encarga de todo en casa, una vez que aparece Trent en escena pasa a tener un rol de cuidadora, la que se encarga de cocinar y preparar limonada mientras los hombres se encargan del trabajo duro. Algunas actitudes me hacían poner los ojos en blanco, pero no me ha disgustado a pesar de los estereotipos de alguna que otra escena.
El libro tiene 288 páginas divididas en veinte capítulos más epílogo. La narración es primera persona por ambos personajes protagonistas, por lo que los vamos a conocer en profundidad. Cada capítulo comienza con la descripción de una postura de yoga o nos habla sobre las características del chakra raíz. La lectura es fluida, capítulos cortos que se leen muy rápido, y enganchan un montón por lo que vas devorando las páginas sin darte cuenta.
Audrey es una autora de romántica erótica, por lo tanto el sexo, estará muy presente durante toda la historia. Las escenas de alto voltaje están bien narradas. El libro se hace ameno y te deja con ganas de mucho más.
La siguiente entrega de esta serie se titulará Serenidad sagrada y sus protagonistas serán Amber, la mejor amiga de Genevieve, y Dash, el profesor de yoga tántrico de La Casa del Loto, creo que la posible fecha de salida de este libro sería para septiembre si no hay cambios por parte de la editorial.

Is this supposed to be real life or fantasy? When the hero goes to this yoga studio, he meets a bunch of gorgeous women and the neighborhood is this magical place where everybody is everybody's friend and businesses charge a lot less for a lot of organic food. **Rolls eyes** I can't take all this saccharine shit and there's a LOT more yoga than I thought - not only does every chapter starts with a description of a yoga pose but we also have to hear detailed explanations from the classes and even the hero becomes a convert almost immediately. **More rolling eyes**

Keiner der Charaktere war auch nur im geringsten Ansatz sympathisch. Ja das Schicksal von ihr ist schlimm und alles, haben wir alle verstanden aber...nee...
Und er...einfach nur ein Arschloch. Wie er über Frauen im Allgemeinenspricht "Nutten" etc. Er hat keinerlei Respekt vor ihr oder anderen Frauen.

Enjoyably story and characters. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the heroes crude thoughts and actions towards women. He’s a famous baseball player that is the very definition of a playboy. I’m sure his thoughts about women are realistic, I just don’t enjoy reading that behavior in a book and especially the main character.

Es una historia de amor sin sobresaltos y muy sexy, de esas que me hacen disfrutar y pasar muy buen rato.
Me encanta cómo introduce el yoga en la historia.
A la traducción habría que darle un repaso, no es de las peores que he visto pero sí creo que con un repasito estaría mejor. No me gusta que traduzcan los nombres o lo apodos, hay palabras que me suenan mejor en inglés, cada uno tiene sus manías.
Quiero leer el siguiente porque la verdad es que me ha gustado el estilo y la historia.
Es una historia de amor sin sobresaltos y muy sexy, de esas que me hacen disfrutar y pasar muy buen rato.

A la traducción habría que darle un repaso, no es de las peores que he visto pero sí creo que con un repasito estaría mejor. No me gusta que traduzcan los nombres o lo apodos, hay palabras que me suenan mejor en inglés, cada uno tiene sus manías.
Quiero leer el siguiente porque la verdad es que me ha gustado el estilo y la historia.

Ich weiß gar nicht genau wie ich auf die Lotus House Reihe von Audrey Carlan aufmerksam geworden bin, denn Lustvolles Erwachen ist tatsächlich mein erstes Buch der Autorin, da ich sonst einen großen Bogen um ihre Geschichten gemacht habe. Doch dieses mal konnte ich nicht. Der Klappentext zum Auftakt der siebenteiligen Reihe hat mich sofort angesprochen. Und ich kann euch jetzt schon sagen, dass dies definitiv nicht mein letztes Buch von Miss Carlan war.
Was passiert in diesem Buch?
Seitdem ihre Eltern vor drei Jahren verstorben sind, muss sich Genevieve um ihre zwei jüngeren Geschwister, ein großes Haus und alle Rechnungen die anfallen kümmern. Da ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass sie jede zusätzliche Stunde im Yoga-Zentrum Lotus House annimmt die sie bekommen kann. Nur hätte sie nie damit gerechnet, dass ausgerechnet der Profi-Baseballer Trent Fox mit seinem verletzten Knie Privatstunden mit ihr buchen würde. Genauso wenig wie das genau dieser Mann ihr gesamtes Leben auf den Kopf stellen würde.
Konnten mich die Protagonisten überzeugen?
Ausnahmsweise kann ich jetzt ein Mal an dieser Stelle sagen, dass mir die Protagonistin komplett gefallen hat, der Protagonist jedoch für mich ein paar Macken hatte.
Aber fangen wir erst einmal mit Genevieve an. Sie ist eine dieser Protagonistinnen, die ich wirklich gern als meine Freundin hätte, denn sie ist einfach ein wirklich toller Mensch. Sie ist gerade einmal 24 Jahre alt und musste schon mit 21 die komplette Verantwortung für ihre jüngeren Geschwister übernehmen und ich weiß sehr genau, dass das nicht jeder so hinbekommen hätte wie sie. Denn Viv schuftet wirklich jede Minute des Tages, hat ihren eigenen Traum aufgegeben und ist dennoch nicht verbittert, sondern genießt jede Minute mit ihren Geschwistern. An einen Freund ist da eigentlich überhaupt nicht zu denken, wenn überhaupt gerade einmal an ihren kleinen batteriebetriebenen Freund. Genau aus diesem Grund habe ich mich auch für sie als Protagonistin so gefreut, denn diese loyale, fürsorgliche, aufopfernde und wirklich süße Frau hat einen starken Mann an ihrer Seite verdient und diesen hat sie ja in Trent gefunden. Und noch nicht einmal dabei hat sie ihren ganz eigenen Charakter verloren (wie leider so viele Frauen in diesem Genre, sobald sie einen Mann kennenlernen). Ganz im Gegenteil und genau das fand ich wirklich großartig. Ja, ich mochte Viv wirklich von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite.
Bei Trent hatte ich es da schon ein wenig schwieriger. Denn dieser Typ ist einfach ein ziemlich großspuriger und selbstverliebter Kerl, der manchmal ein ganz schöner Idiot sein kann. Natürlich ist Trent der genretypische sexy Mann mit dem dreckigen Mundwerk - ohne diesen geht es nun einmal nicht. Auch hatte er noch nie eine Beziehung, was nebenbei auch das letzte ist, was er möchte, bevor er Viv trifft und selbst da geht es ihm anfangs nur um Sex. Und irgendwie hat mich diese Kombination bei Trent am Anfang gehörig gestört, ich weiß nicht einmal wieso, denn bei anderen Männern in diesem Genre ist das nicht der Fall, aber bei ihm eben schon. Zum Glück hat sich auch sein Verhalten zum Ende des Buches hin verändert, er wurde fürsorglicher und eigentlich zu einem großen Teddybär wenn es um Genevieve und ihre Geschwister ging. Hach, das war echt süß mitanzusehen, da habe ich zum Schluss tatsächlich noch ein klein wenig mein Herz an ihn verloren.
Was die Beziehung der beiden angeht, da muss ich ehrlich sagen, ich habe nicht ganz mit soetwas gerechnet. Audrey Carlan hat, da eindeutig mehr Feuer in die Chemie zwischen ihnen gesteckt als ich erwartet habe, puh. Denn schon nach dem ersten Aufeinandertreffen von Viv und Trent sind ordentlich die Funken geflogen und das hat sich auch im Verlauf der Geschichte nicht geändert. Aber zum Glück war die Chemie im Bett nicht das einzige, die beiden haben auch außerhalb ein wirklich tolles Paar abgegeben. Besonders ihr Happy-End hat mein Herz noch mal einen kleinen Purzelbaum schlagen lassen.
Gab es etwas, was mir nicht gefallen hat?
Tja ich sage so etwas ja wirklich nicht oft, da ich was das Thema Sex angeht ja wirklich tolerant bin und viel vertragen kann, aber irgendwo habe auch ich meine Grenze. Und die liegt weder bei heißen und außergewöhnlichen Sexszenen, noch bei vielen dieser Sorte. Aber wenn es wirklich unglaublich vulgär wird und eine Szene nach der anderen zusammenhangslos hingeschrieben werden, dann ist es too much. Aber eins nach dem anderen.
Zuerst zu dem vulgär. Und da lasst mich gleich klarstellen, dass ich nicht an sich das dreckige Mundwerk von Trent verurteile, denn ein wenig Dirty Talk ist vollkommen okay. Aber in diesem Buch habe ich einmal zu viel (sowohl von Trent als auch von Genevieve) das Wort Long Dong als Synonym für sein bestes Stück gehört. Ehrlich, irgendwann konnte ich nur noch die Augen verdrehen und genervt dieses Wort überlesen.
Und was diese bestimmten Szenen angeht, ein oder zwei (oder vielleicht auch vier) weniger wären auch noch vollkommen okay gewesen. Denn für mich geht es bei soetwas nicht um die Szene an sich, sondern um die Nähe, die sich dabei aufbaut und das fehlte mir hier irgendwie am Anfang.
Gab es etwas, was ich noch erwähnen muss?
Ähm, ich glaube, ich bin noch gar nicht auf den wichtigsten bzw eher den namensgebenden Aspekt der Reihe eingegangen und das ist nun einmal Yoga. Und...verdammt...ich werde ab jetzt meine Yogaübungen nie wieder mit den gleichen Augen sehen. Nicht nachdem ich dieses Buch gelesen habe. Aber das war nicht das einzige. Denn ich finde, dass die Autorin wirklich für eine gute Mischung gesorgt hat und auch die Yoga-bezogenen Inhalte gut in das Buch integriert hat. Wobei ich mir auch gut vorstellen kann, dass jemand der nichts mit dem Sport zutun hat, diese Stellen ein wenig langatmig finden kann. Mir haben sie allerdings wirklich gefallen.
Wie ist meine abschließende Meinung zum Buch?
Für mich war Lotus House - Lustvolles Erwachen zwar das erste Buch von Audrey Carlan, aber sicher nicht das letzte. Denn ehrlich gesagt kann ich nach diesem Buch die anderen Teile der Reihe kaum noch abwarten und würde sie am liebsten sofort lesen. Also wirklich jetzt sofort. Denn trotz meiner Kritikpunkte enthält dieses Buch eine süße, sexy und wundervolle Story. Ich für meinen Teil zähle jetzt auf jeden Fall die Tage bis Ende Mai, denn da erscheint schon das zweite Buch der Lotus House Reihe.

Es ist wieder mal so weit, ich habe ein Buch gelesen, das ich unter normalen Umständen höchstens mit einer Kneifzange anfassen würde. Es gibt keine Worte dafür, um angemessen zu beschreiben wie lächerlich dieses Buch ist. Abgesehen davon, dass die Charaktere beide so hohle Früchte sind und die Handlung vorhersehbar war und deswegen an keinem Punkt Spannung aufkam, muss dazu gesagt werden: dass ist bei Weitem nicht das Schlimmste an diesem Buch. Die Sprache! Die Sprache war dermaßen albern und daneben, ich habe zwischendurch richtig laut und herzhaft gelacht, weil sich gerade die "erotischen" Szenen lasen wie smut fanfiction einer 14-Jährigen. Meine Favoriten:
1 . Long Dong (gute Frau Carlan, nenn die Dinge bitte beim Namen und versuch es nicht mit dämlichen Synonymen, die Teenager verwenden)
2. Nougatfalte (im Ernst?!)
3. Tittomane (Teenager, wie ich schon sagte)
und last but not least: 4. Ninja-M*schi-Lecker (tatsächlich habe ich mich vor Lachen verschluckt und bin halb erstickt)
Also nein, erotisch war an diesem Buch nichts. Aber wenn ihr mal einen ordentlichen Lacher braucht, dann kann ich Lotus House nur empfehlen ;)

Meine Meinung
Mal wieder gab es einen Protagonisten mit meinem Lieblingsnamen, ich habe mich einfach so unglaublich gefreut! Und auch beim Lesen wurden mir sowohl Trent als auch Genevieve unglaublich sympathisch. Es hat sofort zwischen den Beiden geknistert und der Leser konnte erst ein wenig über die Protagonisten erfahren, was mich nur noch mehr erfreut hat. Denn besonders Genevieve hatte es ziemlich schwierig in ihrem Leben, alleine muss sie auf ihre zwei Geschwister aufpassen und hat Rechnungen bis zum Dach. Da tut ihr Trent mit seiner humorvollen, selbstverliebten Art unglaublich gut, um einfach mal für eine Zeit lang alles zu vergessen. Doch Trent ist natürlich ein Sport-Star, wenn nicht sogar DER und am Anfang ist beiden wirklich deutlich, was aus ihnen wird oder was eben nicht. Doch mit der Zeit machen beide eine Entwicklung durch, sie lernen sich besser kennen und vor allem Trent wird zu jemandem, von dem er nie gedacht hat, dass er so werden könnte. Denn gemeinsam finden sie heraus, wer sie sind, wer sie sein wollen und vor allem: Wo ihre Wurzeln sind.
Beide haben mich mit ihrer Art sehr in ihren Bann gezogen, obwohl ich Genevieve manchmal etwas zu naiv fand und Trent sich manchmal benommen hat, wie ein pubertierender notgeiler Teenager. Weniger ist manchmal doch mehr. :D
Die Handlung hat mir im Großen und Ganzen auch ziemlich gut gefallen. Vor allem zum Thema "Yoga" habe ich noch nie etwas gelesen und hier ist es eben ein sehr wichtiger Bestandteil der Geschichte. So fand ich es ziemlich interessant zu wissen, wie Yoga in die Geschichte gebracht wird und habe sogar einige Übungen selbst ausprobiert! Ansonsten war es eine Handlung, die man nun mal in einem New Adult-Roman kennt, allerdings eben der Aspekt mit dem Yoga-Studio hat bei mir so unglaublich gepunktet! Zum Ende hin gab es auch Höhe und Tiefen, die vorher kaum da waren und ich habe auch einige Tränchen vergossen, weil es einfach so schön war.
Der Schreibstil hat mir im ersten Teil des Buches unglaublich gut gefallen. Ich habe leicht in das Buch gefunden und auch Yoga wurde unglaublich interessant und authentisch vorgestellt und mit eingespielt. Als es jedoch zu den Sexszenen kam, dachte ich erst, es hätte eine andere Autorin geschrieben. Die Szenen waren zwar erotisch und sehr sinnlich, ich habe selbst beim Lesen neue Erfahrungen gemacht und Dinge gelesen, die ich noch nie gelesen habe. Allerdings haben mir die Beschreibungen der weiblichen und männlichen Geschlechtsteile überhaupt nicht gefallen. Es war, als würde ein 5-Jähriger gerade in der Phase sein neue Worte zu erfinden. Es fielen Worte wie Long Dong oder Möse. Da hätte ich mir echt gewünscht, dass man die Dinge doch einfach beim Namen nennt? Und in mehreren Sätzen hat sich das gleiche Wort wiederholt, was ich sehr nervig fand. Da dachte ich jedes Mal: So sagt es doch kein Mensch!!
Ansonsten war der Schreibstil jedoch sehr gelungen und es wird aus beiden Perspektiven geschrieben, was ich auch ziemlich gut finde.
Ich habe erst überlegt, ob ich die Folgebände lesen möchte, aber dem Zweiten gebe ich auf jeden Fall eine Chance, auch wenn es dann um jemand anderen geht. Dennoch ist die Grundidee die gleiche und es geht um die beste Freundin von Genevieve!

Die Szenen waren zwar erotisch und sehr sinnlich, ich habe selbst beim Lesen neue Erfahrungen gemacht und Dinge gelesen, die ich noch nie gelesen habe. Allerdings haben mir die Beschreibungen der weiblichen und männlichen Geschlechtsteile überhaupt nicht gefallen. Es war, als würde ein 5-Jähriger gerade in der Phase sein neue Worte zu erfinden. Es fielen Worte wie Long Dong oder Möse. Da hätte ich mir echt gewünscht, dass man die Dinge doch einfach beim Namen nennt? Und in mehreren Sätzen hat sich das gleiche Wort wiederholt, was ich sehr nervig fand. Da dachte ich jedes Mal: So sagt es doch kein Mensch!!
Ansonsten war der Schreibstil jedoch sehr gelungen und es wird aus beiden Perspektiven geschrieben, was ich auch ziemlich gut finde.
Ich habe erst überlegt, ob ich die Folgebände lesen möchte, aber dem Zweiten gebe ich auf jeden Fall eine Chance, auch wenn es dann um jemand anderen geht. Dennoch ist die Grundidee die gleiche und es geht um die beste Freundin von Genevieve!

Resisting Roots is the first book in Audrey Carlan's Lotus House Series and follows the story of Genevieve and Trent. Genevieve Harper is a passionate yoga instructor. After the loss of her parents she is doing her best to make ends meet while raising her younger siblings. Trent walking into Genevieve's life was nothing she expected and she was not ready for him. He is a full of charm and cockiness and the moment he sets his sights on Genevieve he is determined to get to know her and make her his. Trent is a famous baseball player in need of some yoga to help healing a sports injury. I love the basis of this series. It is unique and sexy pairing yoga and passion. The connection between Genevieve and Trent was beautiful. I really loved the development of their relationship. They complimented each other in so many ways, each bringing something special to each others lives. I loved the message of the story. Even though Genevieve lost her family she was able to create her own with Trent his parents and her siblings. I adored it. I loook forward to Dash & Amber's story in Sacred Serenity.
