Though mild -- with occasional spikes of teen melodrama -- I'm enjoying most of the characters and the situations they are in. I'm not happy to see one storyline start to toy with a student/teacher relationship, but I'm willing to see what direction it will take for now.

Aaaaaaahhhhh, my new favourite manga series!!! <3<3<3
OMIYSS volume 2 is just as breath-taking as its predecessor - I swear I feel like I'm inhaling this series! Upon learning at the end of volume 1 that the literature club can no longer continue, the girls are determined to find an advisor in order to keep their club up and running.
However, when it seems that all their efforts are in vain, Hitoha, comes to the rescue and finds a teacher (Yamagishi) who agrees to be their advisor [I should tell you that he is found to be the person talking to Hitoha in the online chatroom and having agreed to meet up they come face to face and learn each other's identities!] So...what I originally thought was going to be a pretty upsetting and disturbing storyline actually turned out to be not half as bad (I know there's the whole student-teacher issue but nothing has actually happened). Although...later on, she does straddle his lap before running away feeling tingly all over!!
Elsewhere, Kazusa is still in a quandary over her feelings for Izumi, and having been told by his mother is bring something down from his room, she notices a dvd from her childhood lying around and takes it home...only to discover that the porn dvd he was watching in volume 1 is actually inside!!! :O
I think one of the biggest character changes in this volume comes from Sonezaki (the "prude") who changes her image to emulate 'Erika' - some sort of model/pop star? She is instantly hailed as gorgeous by her fellow female colleagues but Amagi (the boy who liked her in volume 1) tells her that he was falling for the original Sonezaki. She is so shocked by this confession that she demands he writes 50 pages about why he feels the way he does about her! Lol.
Volume 2 concludes with Izumi walking in on Kasuza attempting to return his porn dvd. He is so mad at her that he reveals that he does think about "that" but would never dream about doing it with any of the girls at school (including Kazusa)!
Gah, I love this series with al of my heart - it is affecting, relatable and incredibly honest in its depictins of high-school girls thinking about eseecross.

Just as good as the first volume. The characters get more well-defined, and the writing continues to feel remarkably real. One definitely questionable storyline is introduced - hopefully it doesn’t go in a bad direction in later volumes. Incredible writing, incredible art, and an incredibly careful portrayal of sensitive subject matter. Here’s hoping it continues to walk the tightrope as the series continues.

Oh my goodness gracious alive, the drama. It was spectacular and I loved every minute of it! Sonezaki's "transformation" was an interesting discussion on how people view others on appearance and how much more receptive they are towards "beautiful" people, as well as how physical transformations don't necessarily change a person's attitude. Sonezaki still behaves as she normally does, but her peers are more positive towards her in her "transformed" state.
Hongo was best girl in this volume. Easy. While I questioned her meeting someone online for the sole purpose of experiencing sex to enhance her writing, the fact that she recognized who he was so quickly (her Japanese Lit teacher), chased after him when he tried to escape, then repeated a sexually implied line during class i front of him was GOLD. I also love how determined she is to get better and how she refuses to let their meeting be swept under the rug. I also love her design, it allows for some cool and funny expressions.
Sugawara has kind of become the mature sister of the bunch; giving straightforward advice without beating around the bush but providing emotional support when need be. I'm anticipating some drama between her an Asada, but considering that Asada looks ready to ruin anyone's life who dares to interrupt her's it doesn't surprise me. I love seeing Sanegawa interact with all of the group members and being there for them in her blunt, mature way, and goodness gracious her design is beautiful! Some of the scenes where she's offering advice to Kasuza or Mo-chin were absolutely breathtaking. I'm curious to see where her past with this director guy goes, as well as the incoming drama courtesy of Asada.
On a brief note about her, the only thing I want to talk about is her design, specifically her teeth. This is a weird thing to fixate on, but Asada has prominent canine teeth which, as far as I can tell, no one else has. I find this to be an interesting character choice and I think it's meant to represent how wild she seems to be, about pursuing sex as well as her willingness to take down anyone who gets in her way. Granted, the audience hasn't gotten her backstory yet, but this is my interpretation about her design as of now.
I have to say, while I love the underlying messages about accepting someone's sexual urges/needs and how hard it can be to accept this when it's a childhood friend, Kasuza's and Izumi's story does not interest me. I will admit watching Kasuza struggle to accept these feelings as well as her growing obsession with sex is relatable and interesting, she and Izumi are not particularly interesting characters. I enjoy seeing her interact with other members of the Literature Club, but when she's alone or with Izumi not so much. That's not to say she's not a well-written character, I just personally am not interested in her. I do adore her friendship with Mo-chin, though, that's adorable.

M'encanta com aquesta sèrie és capaç d'expressar tan bé la incomoditat (awkwardness) que viuen els adolescents i com cadascú madura a un ritme diferent. Crec que la nostàlgia cap a la infància que sent la Kazusa mostra una vessant íntima de la seva personalitat que no se sol veure en obres de ficció sobre joves. En general, m'ha agradat molt veure com també hi ha noies reticents als canvis i que es resisteixen a parlar de sexe amb naturalitat, suposo que per pressions socials... Brutal la "pillada" de la Kazusa a l'Izumi i ben intrigada amb l'aparició del profe Milo-san, veurem com avança.

plot twists keep coming, characters keep stumbling their way through character growth, boys keep making this more complicated. And one new revelation that saves the club but makes things...tenuous.

Still a strong series, O Maidens continues its story of our 5 female leads as they navigate their lives as they ascend from girls to young women. Still funny, still heartfelt, my biggest issue with this latest issue is how it feels a bit less like a cohesive tankubon and more like the end of part one and the beginning of part 2. The story of Kazusa is still strong and the stuff with Hongo is great and feels like it's moving towards some tight storytelling about her growth and the difference between sex and intimacy, but I feel like Erika's stuff just began and then doesn't get as much time to breathe as the rest.
It's all in all a good showing, but it feels like one to read soon after you finished the last, rather than picking it up months later like I did XD. If you loved the first book, is suggest picking it up asap and giving it a read, and probably grab the 3rd volume while you're at it. You won't want to wait after it ends.

It’s a good coming of age story about teenagers having lots of feelings they don’t know how to handle. So the second volume is really relevant to what’s happening in the us right now. Books are being banned a lot right now, teachers are hesitant to even have books with lgbt or POC characters in their classroom libraries. So I can imagine a teacher not wanting to run a book club for fear the kids pick a book someone outside the school doesn’t like and facing backlash and possibly losing their job over it.
In the last volume they addressed sexual harassment that even elementary school kids face, how the character handles it is hilarious. In the next volume it addresses adults preying on teens online. They express the idea that to grow up they have to fall in love but that’s just not true, there are plenty of mature asexual and a romantic people out there. The trope of a character taking off their glasses and they’re suddenly beautiful is just terrible.

Musím říct, že druhý díl mě oproti prvnímu bavil o kus víc, nejspíš proto, že jsem se už s hlavními hrdinkami trochu sžila a věděla, co od nich můžu čekat. Akce je tu spousta, příběh vás nenechá ani na chvíli oddechnout. Zároveň zde naleznete bezpočet vtipných situací, ale také napínavých momentů, které způsobí, že budete netrpělivě vyhlížet další díl.
Tato manga se podle mého názoru opravdu povedla, má poutavý příběh, se kterým se spousta mladých, ale i starších čtenářů dokáže ztotožnit, rychle odsýpá, ale zároveň příliš netlačí na pilu. Také překlad je velmi plynulý, kresba příjemná, jednotlivé postavy se od sebe dají poměrně snadno odlišit, což nebývá vždy pravidlem.
Nezbývá mi tedy než Ach, vy dívky doporučit všem čtenářům, kteří se chtějí pobavit a zavzpomínat na pubertální léta, případně těm, kteří něco podobného právě prožívají na vlastní kůži.

Another fun volume as the Literature Club goes to great lengths to save the club from disbandment. Will some catfishing and blackmail save the day?!? Kazusa’s romantic revelation was super sweet, but it looks like heartbreak is not far away. The art was great for most of this one, but bits here and there seemed sketchy and incomplete. Hopefully deadline pressures aren’t pushing the limits with this series. There was a great dedication page at about the midpoint of this volume that showed just how many hands it takes to complete a volume of manga (10 art assistants!!!). Definitely a community effort!

Still adored the story though it seems to be sliding into basic shojo manga territory. It still has the charm that hooked me.
And of course Sonezaki’s problem was inexperience like I thought. Not that her storyline has caused her stop being so damn uptight (plus being uptight is part of her charm). But it has loosened her up a bit. (I’d also write a 50 page essay about why I find her so charming 😋.)

I feel like with all the messy grief in my life lately all I have the attention span and mental capacity for is manga. Everytime I try to pick up a novel I can't process what I read. 😔
Ah well. The mystery and tension is building in this volume. The more I read, the more interested I am to see where the story goes. Of course Izumi would go off and say a silly young boy thing to Kazusa; I hope they end up working it out. I like their backstory.

There's a student-teacher romance somewhat budding in this one (a popular manga trope), though it seems to have a vibe that's different than the typical depiction I think. I personally am a bit uncomfortable with it, however I think I will keep reading this series because I still do love the characters and the conversations they have with each other.

Es estupendo, perfecto para adolescentes que comienzan a explorar su sexualidad. Las dudas y reflexiones que pueden surgir en ese momento de la vida quedan aquí reflejadas con realismo, dulzura y un humor amable.

Un regarde tendre et multiple sur l’amour et la sexualité. Les difficultés à définir et conceptualiser les sentiments
Garçons et filles sont au cœurs du manga. Ce qui est vraiment un plus.
On a aussi un questionnement autour de l’image et du « glow up » qui est vraiment intéressant.
J’ai hâte de découvrir la suite.

Volume 2 outdoes the already great Volume 1 by a long-shot, introducing fresh conflict that feels incredibly realistic and further exploring the difficulties of sex and emotion. I can't wait to dive into the next volume!
