Shadow Of The Wolf

Rate this book
“A wolf with a bad temper…A woman with unexplainable power"

Ryland
This girl drives me wild.
She’s not afraid of me, not like the others.
I’ve never tried to find a mate.
A dark shadow has such a hold on me.
I want to get a hand on her,
show her what it’s like to be with an alpha.
But what if I’m a little too rough?

Krista
The visions are getting stronger lately.
Who is this shadow that haunts me in my dreams?
Then, there’s this alpha.
His temper is wicked, and his strength unmatched.
I want him to put his hands on me,
But with a curse unleashed,
can our love even find a way?

Good concept but...

This was a great story idea and some parts were really good. Too many parts were disjointed and chaotic. For example in the section where she awakes after their first night together she is initially in bed waking up and the suddenly she is arranging her wet hair from the shower in a different room, but there was no transition or explanation. The descriptions would get confusing and chaotic. I honestly just started skimming so I could get to the end.

Shadow of the Wolf, Central City Wolf Chronicles Series by Amelia Wilson

Krista Sinclair is a fortune teller and has visions. She has her own shop that was left to her by her mother where she does tarot readings for customers. It wasn’t her first choice of a career but one that was chosen for her mother.
Ryland Iker has been the Alpha for the Rogues, the strongest pack in Central City. He started it with his brother, Christoph as his Beta. They were also able to come up with an agreement to stop the fighting between the five factions and to have peace.
Something evil is in the city kidnapping wolf shifters and sacrificing them. On a tip, Ryland is headed to a warehouse with some of his pack in tow hoping to find out who is causing trouble. Instead he is injured and no closer to finding out who is behind the killings. Ryland is also left with an injury that is painful and seems to grow under his skin. Krista has a strong vision of a wolf that scares her. Unable to get the vision out of her head she does something she never does; her own reading and danger is coming. Ryland goes to Krista because he believes what’s in his skin is a curse. Krista does a palm reading for him but when she sees a dark black abyss that engulfs her, she throws him out of her shop. When they come for Krista, she admits they must work together to stop the evil that could be unleashed or die trying.
I loved everything about this book! The storyline and the characters, everything! Ryland has such focus to make sure his pack is the strongest that he sort of loses sight of the goal entirely. It nearly takes an apocalypse to open his eyes. He just wanted to protect everyone. Krista sees her gifts as a curse sometimes because she can see into the future with her visions. Her dating life has suffered greatly because of it. She also has almost no confidence in herself even though her mother told her that she could. Ryland gives her the confidence she needed to gain trust in her abilities and Krista gave him clarity to the way he was acting towards his pack. Sometimes taking a step back can really help, especially when it’s a grumpy Alpha that you lean on.

This is a fascinating & intriguing wolf shifter romance, & the first book in the series “Central City Wolf Chronicles” The characters are well-developed & react with believable confusion & realistic emotional feelings to the situations they find themselves in. The story-line and plot is excellent, well-thought out & written, it keeps the reader’s attention.
There is: a psychic with hidden powers (Krista), an alpha with a monstrous curse threatening to break free (Ryland) wolf shifters, ancient gods & curses, a wolf cult, strange visions, pack meetings, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, actions, danger, threats, enemies, violence, conflict, death, murder, betrayal, suspicions, devious plans, confrontations, alternative realms, happiness, some steam & a very interesting epilogue.
I enjoyed reading this wolf shifter romance & would recommend it.

A story of family dynamics and coming into your own. I really enjoyed the story line and flow. Great characters that progressed and had some depth but I found this audio hard to listen to and it look me awhile to get thru because the narration was difficult for me. I loved the deep, raspy tone used for Ryland but there were so many times that the narration came thru stilted and the pitch used for Krista's mom was grating. It also seemed that there were a few places that repeated, I don't know if that was a production error or what. There was romance, steam, action and adventure. A story of acceptance and forgiveness which I loved. Overall a really great and exciting story!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Title: Shadow of the Wolf
Author: Amelia Wilson
Format: Audio
Narrator: Joshua Schubart
Genre: Paranormal, romantic suspense, shifter (Wolf), Psychic
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Book 1 in the Central City Wolf Chronicles Series
POV: Ryland and Krista
Steam Level: Some
3.5/5

I listened to this book in audio and, while the story was okay, I think I would have enjoyed reading it better. The narrator read slowly, with several sections repeated, as if mistakes were not edited out.

That said, the story was interesting. A fun and compelling mystery that keeps you reading to find out what will happen. I didn't really connect with the the characters, especially Ryland.

I received this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Krista Sinclair was feeling darkness around. She had visions of the future, an inner power she didn’t understand completely, and her doubts were diminishing her confidence. As the leader of the Rogue Pack Ryland Iker was the strongest, hard and dominant of them but also, the more threatened. With things out of control Krista and Ryland were to join forces to face an evil who was threatening all that mattered to them. But evil had a second face. Good and strong characters, action, suspense, mystery, darkness, rituals, betrayal, violence, passion with a well-paced plot development that kept me reading enjoying the twists in the story.

H-m-m-m, I'm on the fence with this one.

I liked Krista, and I mostly liked Rylan, when he wasn't being an arrogant "I know everything a**". The plot was good and kept me interested, although I wondered why we weren't given an explanation of a new universe where shifters and psychics were common? It seemed to me that Krista's visions didn't help much as they all seemed to come true. What was the point in having them? Just to be warned? The only way I can describe the end of this book was that I felt I was left in limbo. Maybe I'll try the next- maybe I won't. Sorry- not sorry.

*WARNING* contains sexual situations and violence
Ryland is the alpha of his pack. Ryland makes sure each of his members trains 4 hours everyday, weakness is not tolerated, his pack has to the strongest. Ryland has to be the strongest alpha.
Krista as been trained to take over her mothers psychic shoo since she was young. Now Krista us being called an oracle and pursued by shifters.
This is a great story. There is much going on. It's not just a romance "love at first sight" story. This has lots of action, shifters, fortune tellers, magic, Gods, and even possessions. The plot is easy to follow yet interesting. It's well edited, and a great read. RECOMMENDED

This story was immediately captivating and mesmerising. As soon as I started the book, I had to know more. I was so torn over whether to read it really fast to find out how it would turn out for Ryland and Krista or to read it slowly and savor every moment. I thought Krista was this amazing mix of confident and insecure. While Ryland had his self-worth wrapped up in the wrong qualities. I loved watching this pair overcome their personal trials to claim victory over their enemy. Already I’m in love with this new world and I can’t wait to see if we get more stories from it.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

SEEING THE FUTURE CAN HELP YOU CHANGE IT IF YOU BELIEVE

I received this audio book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

Ryland is a tough alpha who is suddenly possessed by a shadow. It makes his temper worse and his commanding harsher. His wolves are afraid of him. Krista is a psychic that doesn’t believe in herself. She starts having visions of Ryland and herself and won’t tell him what she sees when he seeks her help. Down into the rabbit hole of feelings and awareness they go.

This book uses cult magic, premonitions, demon possession, faction fighting and more. Tie all that up with mental thoughts and you get a book worth reading more than once.

A captivating read full of twists and turns that will grab you from the very first page. Ryland is the alpha of his pack, the strongest pack in the city, but there has been some mysterious shifter disappearances lately. Things get complicated when one of their missions takes a turn for the worse. Seeking answers, Ryland turns to a fortune teller. Krista may tell fortunes, but lately she's been having some strange visions and things only get crazier when she meets Ryland. Fractured packs, ancient gods, evil cults, and a struggling oracle all combine for a mesmerizing and thrilling story.

“Shadow of the Wolf” is an intriguing, fast-paced, roller-coaster ride, everything you could hope for in a good paranormal read. This tale gives us a powerful, psychic woman, a monster, an awakened curse and an alpha afraid to love, tension, suspense, passion, many twists and turns and romance. The characters are deep and well developed and the strong story-line captures your imagination and holds it till the last word. “Shadow of the Wolf” is riveting, passionate and a story you don’t want to miss.

A very strange but compelling story. A Wolf God? Not many stories have gone back to origins of shifters so I guess you can make up what you would like. I like the way this story is written. They even have an Oracle just for them. That was a very good idea. The story grabs you after the second chapter. It runs with you to the end. I did not want to put it down. It is exciting with a fight to keep the Wolf God from coming out and killing a lot of people. Excellent story. Very intense. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

I love the way the storyline flows with the characters. Then you have her gifts she has problems with and is scared of. He is an alpha and is bad tempered along with needing some education with people. Bad things happen and they end up working together. Along with something bad flowing through the situation. It is exciting, emotional, suspenseful, surprising and so much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

A great read!!

If your looking for a fantastic paranormal romance that is full of intrigue, suspense, danger, murder, conflict, heat, chemistry and more look no further!
Ryland and Krista's story is so well written, he is a surly alpha and she has visions and is insecure and yet when they get together somehow they balance each other, improve each other and become perfect for each other!

Excellent story with well developed characters. There is action, mystery and hint (or more) of evil and a shifter and a seer that have to join together to save themselves and all they care about. This was a real page turner with great descriptions, fabulous chemistry between the characters and a smooth flowing story line that is hard to put down (as in just one more chapter to see where this is going). Epilogue hints at more and I'm looking forward to them. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

I purchased and listened to this book on Audible books.
Story was different then other Werewolf stories I have read. One of the MC Kristin was a very interesting person, but the other MC Rylen is a A** most of the time so hard to like. This Audible book had several technical problems of sentences repeating in several different places. I personally did not care for the Narrator or the way he did some of the characters voices. Would Strongly urge author to get a different narrator.

From curses to love

Love the connection between Ryland and Krista. It wasn't a love at first sight kind of thing. It was them needing each other to face down an ancient evil and finding their soulmate in one another.

Meh, honestly, not my favorite Amelia Wilson shifter book. It had very, very little romance and was a little too much on the mystical side for me. Decently written like all her work, but not my cup of tea.

Shadow of the Wolf...

Central City Wolf Chronicles series book 1. A new author for me. A nice read. This book had ancient artifacts, a curse, a cult and Alpha's on my. Although a good storyline it gets predictable at times. Dramatic and angsty.

Shadow of the Wolf

I wonder if there are more books following this one. I'm intrigued by the next ?artifact they have to find. Ryland must have suspected the Oracle was to be his mate. Their pull towards each other was too strong.

Absolutely wild

Legends science fiction horror, cultish you name it and it is there. I feel I have gotten over my head. I am not sure how to rate this. It is way out in left field for me. I cannot deny the excellent writing and it has one heck of a story. Just not my type.

This is a wonderful and unique perspective on paranormals, and not just shifters. There are several different twists amongst the intrigue and excitement. Definitely enjoyed reading it.

For the love of a cursed Alpha

This was a different kind of story, and you did a very good job of writing your characters into a work of art!
