Jess leaves Frank Reedy behind and heads to the town of Lockton, Texas, on the hunt for his next man, Lar Clemson. After bringing Clemson into Lockton to collect the bounty, he learns that a young woman, Crissy, has been kidnapped by four outlaws.

Jess decides to track the men and find Crissy. Her freckled and red-haired brother, Red, goes along with him. They quickly find Crissy, but she has been brutalized by the four men. The terrible scene brings back Jess’s memories of his family’s murders, especially the ruthless torture and killing of his little sister, Samantha.

After tempering his rage, Jess goes on the hunt for the four men, who are now all wanted dead or alive. Crissy’s brother is hell-bent on going with him. They start tracking down the men, but they prove to be elusive prey. Jess promised Red’s mother that he would do his best to protect him, but Red gets shot after freezing up during a gunfight with the four outlaws. Worried Red might be a liability, Jess has to decide whether the young man should continue the hunt or be sent home.

Once again Thomas has Jess riding with a green kid. Nothing really new here. Just more of what Thomas has written in the past.

Good but pricy

Enjoyed the book but they seem to be very short for the price. Another good read though. Maybe a bit longer next time

RJT's. 82nd Jess Williams Novel/Texas/Murder/Rape/Robbery/Shadow

RJT. has. penned the eighty- second novel in the Jess Williams series. This episode finds him on the trail of a wanted man ($700) whom he catches and turns him in for the bounty. He stops to eat at a restaurant and is introduced to Red and his sister. After the meal and a drink at a saloon he heads to bed. The next morning a girl has gone missing. It's Red's sister. The two of them find her raped, beaten and left for dead. Jess and Red are on the trail the next morning. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

The Hunt

Jess continues to hunt those wanted for the worst crimes. This time he and a young man are hunting the men who raped the young man's sister and left her tied up to die. Another fast moving Western with plenty of action. I highly recommend this author and I look forward to reading number 83.

Robert J.Thomas makes Jess Williams a man that you could look up to.

After reading all eighty two books I often wonder how Robert J. Thomas comes up with the stories. They are all good reads with a lesson in each story. After reading his books one could be a better person and more generous. Can't wait for the next book I wish I could put them on auto order.

Red

Jess meets Red and his Mom. His sister Cissy was kidnapped and raped by four outlaws. Red insisted going with Jess to find his sister. Later, Red insisted to join Jess in getting the four outlaws who raped his sister. Lots of action and Red grows into a man with Jess's help and kill the four outlaws.
