Fated Touch #1

Dragon Spell

Rate this book
Jane is a normal orphan with unusual grandparents. She doesn't realize how unusual until she returns on holiday from college to discover that her grandmother has been kidnapped. Her grandfather reveals that her kidnappers are a new foe from an old world, and her grandmother's only hope is for them to travel to the other side after her.

The Shifting World, however, isn't as easy as ours. Every monster, witch, demon, and other mystical fable that haunts the fairytale books of our world resides among those lands. Jane finds herself stumbling through one adventure after another as she tries to learn the ropes, and the magic, of the new world in order to save her grandmother, and herself.

Even a place as strange as the Shifting World, however, has its familiar handsome men. One of them is Caius, a dragon shifter with a sly smile and a glint in his eyes. He joins their search for her missing grandmother, but Jane isn't so sure it isn't another member of her family that he's interested in.

The story was really good and really easy to read.

It definitely needed an editor though. The typos/wrong words used brought me out of the story a bit because I had to try to figure out what the author was actually trying to say.

Interesting read

Fun book about a girl who goes into another world, with her grandfather, through a tree. They are trying to rescue her grandmother. She meets a dragon, some unicorn s, and even a horde of evil pig men. Will they find her grandmother? Will she go back to the "real world?" Does she have feelings. For the dragon? What's so special about her? First book of the series. Recommended

I was just sorely disappointed with this book. The heroine Jane was an idiot. She's in a new world she knows absolutely nothing about and yet she constantly is opening her mouth getting them in trouble. I just, i just kept shaking my head everytime she opened her mouth. The ending felt rushed, the relationship between Jane and the dragon was non existent. But hey let's fall in love..... this story just wasn't for me.

Beautiful Unicorns

Jane's grandmother Bee is kidnapped by shifters. Jane and her grandfather Sage travel thru a portal tree to another world to rescue Bee. Caius, a Dragon shifter, joins them on their quest, for the kidnappers have also stolen something from him. Great beginning to a new magical series for both young and old alike! I really enjoyed this one!

Very interesting

The cover gave no indication of what the story was about. It was a very good fantasy story involving a girl from earth, a dragon, grandparents with a secret past, and some scary bad guys. It had good world building and a budding romance. It definitely is a good start to the series.

Jane was not sassy in a good way

I am all for the strong sassy girl! But Jane was rude, opinionated, and just hateful throughout the book. She didn't have enough humbled moments. Sassy is good... Rude is not.
I enjoyed the book overall.

Seriously the grandparents never tell her about her heritage? I tell my kids about my childhood all the time. Do they not talk??? And what dragon is not strong enough to carry a person? Very disappointing.

There is something about dragons

I have always loved storylines with dragons and, occasional witches thrown in for color but what takes the cake for
Me is the idea, that it could be there in this time.

This book suffered from an identity crisis. It was marketed as a romance but it was actually a fantasy adventure.

I didn't enjoy the writing, characters or plot. The editing wasn't great either and I was distracted by the spelling errors and incorrect words.

It was good. I thought it was short, the fantasy part was really comforting. I think if there were more adventures, then I would like it even better.

I really enjoyed this one! It’s rare you find a fantasy book where the MC is in an adventure with their family members and grandparents, at that! The dragon shifter was a nice addition to the traveling party and I loved the grandfather - “Storm Sage.”

Great deviation from typical stories with dragons in that it’s a fantasy world like Narnia filled with all types of shifters. I wish we had met more of the creatures in this story (like vampires!), but since it’s a series, I’m sure they’re in other books. The main reason I knocked off a star is Jane was a bit too annoying a character because she didn’t carry on any really intelligent conversations - she seemed to scream a lot of questions and have little other substance on the page.

I really enjoyed this Paranormal Adventure story and its romantic subplot. I almost always enjoy a story with shifters or dragons in it and this one had a dragon shifter! Each of the characters was enjoyable and engaging and I'd happily read more of this world.
